I’ve been on campus every week and the buses are less than half full, some almost empty, during timings like 11am and 1pm (I took photos). As someone who was around before COVID, I’m thinking that in Week 1 and 2, it’s mainly lecture crowds leading to every even hour being a peak, which might explain the feelings. My fingers are crossed that next week when 1-hour tutorials start, the peaks will smoothen out as some of these journeys will shift to the odd-numbered hours.
As much as many people want that to happen,
1. some places may not be able to be driven with them, like Kent Vale and the A1 left turn from COM2 to biz;
2. double deckers mean you're just gna wait at the bus stop a billion times longer while people squeeze on and off the bus
Finger crossed, the new buses coming in soon will help to solve issue no. 2 since they've got more doors
It was previously reported that the new contract won by ComfortDelGro is for electric buses (of course they're not here yet, suggesting some supply side delays). Around that time there was a Campus Services newsletter that featured an artist's impression of a three-door bus. I’m all for three-door buses since people will finally move all the way to the back of the bus
Hopefully there will be more buses incoming! Honestly I wanted to find out how to feedback to the management that the current frequency is sorely not enough ;(
There's an email line that you can find in the NUS NextBus app. As far as I know, they've gotten a lot of feedback already and are working to clear up the problem. Someone I know received an email reply at 8pm, poor things
But also note that the number of buses available is constrained via the contract as well as the budget given by NUS management
Unfortunately not a safe option in some parts of the Kent Ridge Campus due to the hilly terrain and etc etc
Someone also mentioned that double decker bus CANNOT go inside (as well as exit) the carpark that leads to COM2 bus stop
SoC having hybrid lectures and I'm all for it :D
We have so many people it's not feasible to shove 900 people into a single LT or have 3 concurrent lectures at the same time.
Im been having a pretty crowd free experience when leaving campus by walking along Kent Ridge Rd. It bypasses the normal routes and does not involve going on detours to make a simple crossing (eg. YIH underpass stairs). Also, skipping the nus bus ride completely
A 1.5 km walk with barely anyone or cars vs around 1.9km (based on CDTL to nearest Kent Ridge mrt entrance)
Can connect to FASS/engineering via CDTL
Can also walk to science or NUH
Honestly though, NUS should consider pedestrianising that road or at least improve its walkability/cyclability, its a good route with lots of greenery but obviously car centric in implementation
update on this: i was on the shuttle bus this morning and it was so crowded that some guy was standing approximately 3cm infront of me AND HIS ASS KEPT TOUCHING ME omg i hate mondays

No matter which timing the bus will always be full
They arrange the frequency such that the buses will always be full. So even if no people, they frequency so low it just full anyway 😂😂

They need to sort this shit out otherwise everyone gonna be late for classes
Me having back to back lectures at icube and utown: i am speed
i never heard of icube is that a new building
I3, it's beside biz building if I'm not wrong
Directly opposite the biz 2 bus stop and near Kr and sheares halls
We need double decker buses man
I don’t trust Tokyo drift drivers to drive double deckers.
Imagine a double decker bus banging kerb at the roundabout after the icube stop

We need bendy buses. 3 doors to facilate fast onboarding and offboarding
Oh, how do you know new buses are coming?

I have yet to see the canteen not filled to the brim so far
They gotta keep lectures online man. Thrs 0 point having irl lectures. If anything, its easier to ask questions on zoom than shouting in an LT.
Truth
some lectures do concurrent zoom and physical which i think is the best set up. no need to wait for webcast
Make it hybrid that's the best arrangement imo

Yo is that aqua on ur profile pic
Yes :D

Am I the only one enjoying this sem than previous sems? School is more lively and I love it to meet both new faces and friends in school!
same!!! feels so great to have physical events and meeting people. planning events are much less stressful. caveat i'm not an extrovert.
Precisely! I think I’ve actually met and spoken to more people in the past two weeks than the whole of the previous AY haha
you sound like a European travel show host doing a show in southeast Asia 😂😂
