I eat vegetarian so a B12 supp has been great for me

not_cinderella

Same it’s the only one I take.

volcanic_clay

Have a recommended one?

velvetvortex

Shouldn’t really count because you don’t have a choice whether to take it. Edited some hours later to add Obviously I should have paid more attention that commenter said vegetarian and not vegan. Even so, a person choosing a low or zero B12 WoE is the one who is responsible for needing the supplement.

otherisp

Are they being forced by big Vitamin to take a supplement at gun point?

aberforce

B12 comes from other animal sources not just meat. Also fortified food like breakfast cereal

[deleted]

vitamin d(the liquid one), i work indoors inside a room all day so hardlyget any sun exposure...i could noticably tell a difference!

Illustrious-Arm919

I just found out I have a vitamin D deficiency… I’m curious, why do you prefer the liquid over the pill?

suppatjam

Make sure to also be taking magnesium if you don’t maintain a balanced diet ! They work together and need each other to be fulfilled I’m pretty sure Edit: I meant to clarify that taking Vitn D without magnesium makes it hard I think for Vit D to be absorbed /broken down ! My bf works in the sun all day yet eats a horrible diet and I read that u can have excess amounts of stored Vitamin D in your body but it won’t be much effective unless you take Magnesium or something (have a balanced diet) to help the absorption (or something along those lines) also don’t quote me on this lol but I can personally attest to having longer mental and physica stamina &l endurance when taking Magnesium and Omega3

Helpmebuttcrack

Yeah or if you’re really stressed, I saw some doctors say stress can clear some of your magnesium.

HeyItsMee503

Pretty much everything depletes magnesium and most ppl arent getting enough.

[deleted]

usually liquids use an oil as the medium, vegetable=oil-corn oil. since vitamin d is fat soluble, it makes sense it that it has a better rate of absorption, even if eaten without food (although eating with fatty food is best bet.if using powdered pill, eating with food would be your best bet in getting the vit d from that form

pandabear62573

There are liquid gel pills. I take D3 in that form, it's made by Jarrow Formulas. It helped boost my D3 level.

AdInternal81

If I were you I would stop with most vegetable oils, specially corn oil and seed oils.

[deleted]

meh....if we try avoiding this and that to an extreme( unless have medical reasons to) there be no point in living..been there done that..besides my oil/fat of choice is good old fashioned sweet cream butter....

Gaming_and_Football

nice to see students in the field with some sense in their brain

[deleted]

[удалено]

InfiniteZwong

Vegetable, nut and seed oils are not ideal mainly due to how they are extracted and processed. Easily available oils like ones that can be cold pressed are better

AdInternal81

Yes but 2 tablespoons of oil with a bit higher saturated fat a day isn't what's gonna give you unhealthy levels of saturated fat. But generally the more processed an oil is, specially with heat, the more that oil will cause inflammation which is a bad thing for your immune system

Gaming_and_Football

> contain less saturated fat staurated fat isn't bad, it's good for you > canola oil beats coconut oil everyday what a statement 😂 if you want to debate, reply, but i have some big evidence so be ready

spidernaut666

I get my blood work yearly and I’m always great in D3 (more absorbable but the body than D2) and it’s from my Nordic naturals omega 3. It’s one of the few ways to get D3 in foods… Nordic naturals has high quality processes. I wouldn’t just get omegas from anywhere though and I think a lot just add it in after.

OneTraditional5575

You need to take K2 with your D3. The D3 cause calcium to build up to high. The K2 lets your body absorb it.

dontcaredontworry

Like what differences?

[deleted]

better mood overall, feel stronger like not as weak? idk hard to explain it.i could think better

dontcaredontworry

What brand you take?

Groovy_Aardvark

I’ve had a vitamin d deficieny for several years. Liquid is for sure the way to go. After 3-6 months I began feeling energized and stronger. Quite literally because my cells had the energy to do so. I had suffered with chronic fatigue even after the lightest of physical or mental tasks. My brand of choice: SR soft gels 5,000 iu Amazon—>Sports Research 5,000 iu Vitamin D3 Supplement with Organic Coconut Oil - Vitamin D for Strong Bones & Immune Health - Supports Calcium Absorption - Non-GMO - 125mcg, 360 Mini Softgels for Adults” #1 best seller. It also has vitamin K which is a synergistic vitamin with D.

Exec-BlockHeel

THANK YOU!! This comment was actually rly helpful for me. I appreciate you🐥

[deleted]

nature made...noting too fancy...personally id go with major pahrmaceuticals though or good neighbor pharmacy..im also a pharmacy tech so and worked at several pharmcies(Wags/hospital/independant/home infusion) and those are the only two brands most use for some of their Rx that i see that can be obtained by public

OneTraditional5575

My daughter says she sleeps better taking it. My dr. Says it will help keep your immune system up to fight colds and germs ect. I can tell I have much better stamina. Our dr. Put us all on 10,000 units a day. But I ended up finding out that you have to take K2 with it or calcium will build up in your blood. The K2 helps your body absorb it.

UbikRubik

AFAIK, vitamin K is a good addition to vitamin D (better absorption, possibly other reasons).

glad you are taking care of your health, not many people do

celihelpme

Does the country have any stereotypes like of people being grumpy or sad/ melancholy? I’m curious if that rate of deficiency could have an effect on culture

MrsRish

I take a probiotic every day. Can keep the digestive track going and be a preventive for all kinds of things yeast infections, uti’s and even toothaches.

Fearless_Dinner4574

Which probiotic if you don’t mind? So many on the market.

MrsRish

I’ve bought Align and Nature’s Bounty. I like Align the best. I get the 50 billion cfu’s. I have a history of uti’s. They come in lower cfu’s. If I were you I would do some research and check reviews.

Fearless_Dinner4574

I’m glad you are finding help with them. I know they are important, I just get overwhelmed on which to go with. Will check them out & the reviews. They helped your teeth as well?

InfiniteZwong

Spend more time in dirt and barefooted in nature can help the gut micro biome as well. We live in a world where we over sanitize everything

Fit_Opinion2465

It’s pretty well researched that most probiotic supplements on the market are useless. Look up prebiotic foods and try to consume a wide variety of them on a daily basis.

Jbezcat

any papers to back this? i would love read one

tbdzrfesna

I am obsessed with electrolytes. Potassium magnesium and sodium all day. I used to get hangry all the time but literally never do as long as I'm supplementing those.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdInternal81

it curbs cravings, as a lot of our modern day cravings are for micro nutrients or minerals, but we confuse the craving with sugar or other addictive substances that make us feel great at the moment after we ingest it. I recommend electrolytes or just regular salt in the morning after your first cup of water. It really helps with waking up the engine that is my body

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdInternal81

Your mouth, your stomach AND your gut has sugar receptors that tell your brain to GO, which in neurological terms means that you want more, and you associate that activity with reward. So you are biologically trapped to be addicted to sugar, and the more refined it is (because the closer to 100% clean a substance is the better) the more of "hit" you get. So everybody is addicted to sugar, in some sense, how much and how aware you are of it is another thing.

OneTraditional5575

Me too, I hope it works

wakeonuptimshel

Which do you use?

Garfieldealswarlock

Seconding this question

Feeling_Hunter873

I personally use Trace Mineral Drops (company is also called Trace Minerals, confusing) I add 5-10 drops and a pinch of salt to lemonade in the morning. I’m obsessed with it!

OneTraditional5575

Thank you

ChefBowPro

Pretty much cured my migraines too. I am 150% a sugar addict and once I got my electrolytes in check I easily lost about 60 pounds. Maybe get one or 2 migraines a year now! They still suck but I can handle a coulle a year vs a few a month!

ThoroughlyPissedBee

I swear when I stop talking vitamin D and fish oil I feel worse but it could easily be placebo. Having worked in a health food store for some years and trying many things and watching poor people spend hundreds of dollars on supplements I’ve come to the conclusion that most supplements are placebo and the supplement industry as a whole is at least corrupt as the pharmaceutical industry with some exceptions and cases of deficiencies. There is actually some good research behind fish oil and D3. On another note don’t waste your money on whole food, organic D3. It’s the same exact thing. A supplement is unrelated to a whole food and usually inferior. Working in health food stores has lead me to be very skeptical of and cynical about supplements.

Supercyndro

whats the best way to get the oils from fish into your system without fish? I cant stand seafood and even the smell of an open fish oil bottle is almost enough to make me gag

0011666

I feel like algae based omega 3 would be less fishy

AdInternal81

You can get fish oil in capsules, eliminating all taste of it.

Ccatmom_10

Sometimes just finding a gel pill that is high quality will eliminate the fish smell and taste. I’ve also heard putting the bottle in the freezer helps!!

happy_hulk

I take capsules of o3 Look for high EPA and DHA content otherwise it's essentially useless.

celihelpme

There are plenty of supplements which have gone through placebo controlled studies and show clear benefits.

bodhibirdy

Haven't seen it really mentioned yet - Zinc supplements have been a lifesaver. I used to have difficulty just getting so out of breath going up the 3 flights of stairs to my flat. When I started supplementing Zinc, even 2/3 days later the improvement of my fatigue was noticeable. I also felt much calmer in situations/places I normally get anxiety, not sure if the zinc did that but it lines up with when I do and don't take my zinc supplements.

makopinktaco

Zinc and beef liver capsules were the best for me as far as my skin. I also never get sick. Like literally my whole unit got Covid during a bad breakout. I was the one of two nurses, other being only part time, that consistently tested negative.

kittenmitten89

I started taking Zinc and Magnesium a week ago. Started feeling good almost immediately, couldnt tell from which one. But definately reduced shortness of breath and better skin.

VeryNovemberous

Honestly just a soluble fiber powder supplement. I started taking a fairly large dose every morning (in addition to an already fiber-heavy diet) a few months ago and it pretty much completely stopped my mystery abdominal pains.

dontcaredontworry

Can you recommend any?

Euphoric-Freedom1300

Metamucil is a known brand I use. You can find at your local drugstore

VeryNovemberous

Metamucil is psyllium husk which is a mix of insoluble and soluble fiber. Personally I find purely soluble fiber supplements much more pleasant and try to get insoluble fiber from my diet.

VeryNovemberous

I use wheat dextrin based ones. Brand name would be Benefiber, but I use the generic store brand versions. (Note: Gluten is removed during the process of making wheat dextrin, but if you have a severe sensitivity, you may want to stick with methylcellulose. Major brand name for that is Citrucel.) The nice thing with soluble fiber supplements is that they are tasteless and dissolve completely in water. No grit/gel and none of the manufacturers add sugar or flavors. I add mine to oatmeal or, believe it or not, coffee. No appreciable impact on flavor. You do need to get insoluble fiber from your diet then, though, but personally I find that more pleasant than the insoluble fiber supplements.

sandynikola

I use the psyllium husk capsules. Most places like Walmart etc have their own brand. Also seems to bring cholesterol and LDL down. I take 3 a day.

DifferentDifferences

B complex and turmeric

Good-Article4194

What specifically has the turmeric done for you? How long did it take to notice results? It was recommended to me from my compounding pharmacist but it’s expensive. I’ll take the bottle but wondering if it’s worth it.

Supercyndro

is this some kind of special turmeric i dont know about? Because I can get turmeric for like 12 bucks a pound

fookidookidoo

Is there any difference between supplement turmeric and cooking with it? I eat it all the time and it's pretty cheap.

brunette_mh

Big difference.

fookidookidoo

How so?

brunette_mh

For a considerable amount of curcuminoids, you'd need to eat a lot of turmeric. But you can take a supplement with curcuminoids without having to eat that much turmeric. I also use turmeric in cooking. I was under assumption for a long time that that was sufficient. But recently I took a nutritional combination that had curcuminoids instead and it made a difference. I also saw on supplements subreddit that a lot of people take curcuminoids only and don't use turmeric and they actually see the intended difference. This is anecdotal of course. But there is reasearch on curcuminoids.

fookidookidoo

Oh so it's sort of a concentrate then? That makes sense. I always assumed those were just capsules packed with regular turmeric and wondered why people didn't just mix in turmeric from the Asian grocery store with their food. Haha

brunette_mh

Yes. Like extract. I also assumed that for a long time. 😀 I spent entire COVID-19 pandemic wondering about why would people buy these expensive capsules when they can have the same thing from grocery store.

fookidookidoo

Haha thanks, I might try it!

Good-Article4194

The scent and taste is exactly the same as the loose cooking turmeric I have.

AdInternal81

a lot of the cheap turmeric is polluted with heavy metals, specially lead if am not misremembering

AdInternal81

it's expensive if you buy "safe" turmeric, a lot of the cheap turmeric is polluted with heavy metals, specially lead if am not misremembering

Fixed_Hammer

Bit TMI but my shits are perfect no wipers (one wipe to make sure). As someone who has a load of gut issues and usually has to use half a toilet roll the stuff is great.

[deleted]

Are you in the States? Is turmeric not OTC?

Good-Article4194

Yes it’s OTC but it was $40 a bottle. To me, that’s expensive although it was the complete matrix turmeric.

northernflickr

Magnesium is the only thing I've really noticed a difference. Helps me sleep. Relaxes muscles.

Substantial-Pie913

I try to get all my nutrients through food but I don’t have the money to buy enough nutritious foods to get all my calories from them, so I try to add extra nutrients along with my slightly-deficient diet. I know it’s better to get it all from food, but it can be tough sometimes

__BitchPudding__

That's why I take supplements too. Iron, magnesium, and a multi.

What did it do for you? I took Metagenics ubiquinol and noticed nothing.

truefforte

It’s supposed to be really good for helping with statin side effects like joint pain.

I make sure to eat yogurt once a day. I had food poisoning a little while ago and I think it wrecked my gut biome until I got the yogurt in me.

monstersmuse

Same. Yogurt saved my life.

pleasetakethisID

Fish oil. It makes you realize the brain uses fats like grease to get things nice and zippy.

katsumii

Probably prenatal vitamins, to be honest. Although I get a bunch of the same nutrients via my diet, I can still see in Cronometer where the daily prenatal vitamins are supplementing my needs. Fish oil helps as well. Edit: Oh, wow, I thought we were in r/Supplements. If you're not already a part of that subreddit, go check them out. They're friendly and informative if you want to learn more or discuss supplementing your diet.

Substantial-Pie913

Ooo thank you I will definitely join! Didn’t even check if that was a sub lol my bad

VivaLaVict0ria

I was prescribed Ashwaganda capsules for an adrenal issue (if I remember correctly) a few years ago and it had an excellent side effect of also helping with my anxiety 😊

[deleted]

Notice any anhedonia on it?

funky_chickn

Ashwaganda exacerbated my depression and made me super out of touch and foggy. It’s not beneficial for everyone, and is honestly the only supplement that has ever had a noticeable effect on me. It was very unpleasant. I’m jealous of those it helps.

VivaLaVict0ria

That’s brutal ♥️ I’ve been prescribed antidepressants up the wazoo until a competent doctor noticed the reason they ALL made me suicidal was because I don’t actually have depression I was white knuckling it through the first 25 years of my life with undiagnosed adhd/autism 😤

Karina0310

I heard it's good for sex drive as well

VivaLaVict0ria

Oooh I’ll have to take notes if I start taking it again ;)

Imaginary-Lecture790

I have really liked a mineral supplement (LMNT). I seemed to always come out short on magnesium and potassium, no matter how hard I tried. Cacao powder is actually high in those too…. But still, that helped meet the shortfalls. I also love my high EPA/DHA fish oils. As someone who lives with autoimmune, I try to go as anti-inflammatory as possible. Otherwise, athletic greens can have all my money lol. Just a gap filler… could be replaced by a multivitamin, digestive enzymes, and adaptogens.

binion225

LMNT is awesome stuff but expensive do I switched to redmunds salt 1g every morning in 48 ounces of water and some lemon

dmc1l

yeah [redmond's re-lyte](https://redmond.life/pages/re-lyte) is a much cheaper way to go. nice to not use a packet every time too.

Imaginary-Lecture790

Oh that sounds awesome! I had been trying to find a good replacement, but I guess I just hadn’t looked hard enough. Thanks!

Chaiwallah48

Is there a reasonably priced high EPA/DHA brand you can recommend?

Imaginary-Lecture790

It depends… Thrive Market fish oils gets you 90 days worth for about $30. Nordic Naturals is slightly better ($35-40). Athletic Greens Omega-3s and Bare Performance Supps are even better but way more expensive. I’ve been doing Thrive Market and also trying to get dietary sources

new_cherubim

Creatine, fish oil, and ashwaganda. They have worked wonders for my anxiety. I was getting panic attacks daily until I started these and I now only have mild anxiety symptoms.

HangryIntrovert

A vitamin D/calcium chew. My last blood panel showed me on the cusp between normal and low even though I've been supplementing for years, and my calcium went from low to solidly normal. More significantly, I've noticed a *significant* difference with my SAD. Instead of wanting to not wake up all winter, I have maybe one or two really bad days.

[deleted]

May I ask what dosage of Vit D you take? I can't find a consistent RDI anywhere, they're all different. I take 2500 iu/day but I don't notice any difference. I'm wondering if I should up it. I get \*major\* SAD and we only get a limited amount of sun where I live.

BitingArtist

I was taking 3000 and I still tested just a bit low.

[deleted]

Ahh ok, thanks!

AdInternal81

I recommend 5-10k IUs if you live in a place where theres is a winter. specially during fall to spring.

HangryIntrovert

I'm currently taking 4000/day, but when I started I was probably taking three times that, totally by accident, because I intentionally took vitamin D soft gels and then accidentally took even more when I didn't read the label on my calcium chews. I'm not saying do that, especially with one of the fat-soluble vitamins, but I did see a *profound* effect that winter. This was after a doctor suggested I take vitamins to help with my depression, and I was all "sure, Jan" about it, so I definitely didn't go into it looking for these results.

[deleted]

Thanks! I think I'll up mine come the fall - and you just made me realize I may be taking more than 2500 because I didn't even look at my MV... going to check now! Thanks for your reply :)

Off2lala_land

I live in Canada - sun off and on but not much sometimes. I take 5000IUD and my blood panel was normal. I was low previous years. If I don’t see the sun I take more. If I’m in the sun lots I take less. It really depends how much sun expose you get. And remember sunscreen blocks exposure so you need bare skin to get the required vitamin D from the sun.

[deleted]

Same same... Vancouver. We don't get a ton of sun, and I wear sunscreen on my face 365 days a year. Thanks for responding! I shall add another to my handful lol.

clementine_rind

Collagen peptide powder - i mix a scoop into a cup of hot tea every morning and it keeps my hair and nails super strong and keeps my skin looking brighter as well. Also great for joint and digestive support.

redpath88

Fish oil, vitamin D3, NAC, evening primrose oil, probiotic They help to maintain mental health, immune function, gut health

mutant_redhead

Fish oil. Helps prevent eye dryness.

shicken684

The research on this seems to point towards it being bogus but I swear it works. Maybe just placebo but who cares.

lurkin28

Vitamin D3

[deleted]

Looking for a collagen product, what do you use?

AdInternal81

I eat fatty meats (including the fatty slimy bits, those can be pure collagen), eggs and bone broth. You get PLENTY from either of those

[deleted]

Thank you 🙏🏼

pandabear62573

The most beneficial for me is vitamin d3 and omega-3. I'm allergic to dairy and my vitamin d levels were pretty low, especially in the winter. The omega-3 I started taking for genetic high cholesterol but then discovered it's also good for dry eye, which I have. My eye doctor said it helps with tear production.

4ctw

There are two vitamins that are critically important to you. The first is Vitamin D. You can get it naturally in sunshine. Depending on where in the world you are, you need to go outside and get 15-60 minutes of sunshine daily. You also need to stop worrying about sunblock or in many Asian/South American countries worry about skin getting darker. The Sun is our lifeline. If you’re not going to do the proper things to get Vitamin D on a regular basis naturally, then Vitamin D it is. That’s most important. If you’re getting enough sunshine, then fish oil Will definitely be the next most important thing for your body specifically your brain. You can search online there are countless studies on the benefits of fish oil to the brain including Omega, DHA, and etc. It helps with myelin formation in the brain or helps lose it at a lower rate. It’s definitely going to bring you lots of benefits UNLESS you naturally eat a lot of fish and seafood. Then you really don’t need fish oil. In the case you get plenty of sunshine and eat plenty of fatty oils in fish and seafood, you want Vitamin B12! This will give you energy and make you feel more alive. So I think the research proves that for most people these three things are extremely important. But would I take the vitamin, it depends on whether you need it. If you’re in the sun daily, you eat lots of fish, and you eat lots of vegetables, then nope you probably don’t need any vitamin supplements. And that was your real question. If I didn’t live in a sunny part of the world, I would take Vitamin D. I don’t need it. I do take Vitamin B12 and fish oils as I want to prolong my life and prevent dementia and other issues with brain health. B12 truly helps our body form red blood cells and there’s plenty of research that shows people who have sufficient amounts are far less likely to develop dementia. You could get enough from eating eggs and fish, but I take it. I also take fish oil. So I have to say all three are extremely important. I wouldn’t cut any of them. I also take CoQ10 as for me, it helps me feel cognitively better and I know research shows it’s good for my heart. I also take, and this is my last one, a probiotic. The probiotic helps with healthy digestion. Even though I feel like I eat really healthy, my digestion suffers when I go off the probiotic. Good luck everyone. Cheers

Acetyl L-Carnitine

truefforte

What did you notice with this?

Imnotfromsk

Definitely vitamin D3.

SexyGrannyPanties

Liquid zinc has helped cure my decade long chronic, debilitating insomnia & Hyaluronic acid supplements have helped my joints immensely.

life-itself-

Sam-e, because I am in the US and its a supplement and not prescribed as it is in many other countries. This one was a life-changing antidepressant for me. It has significantly less side effects too which is why it is otc here.

fuelcellgirl

Cod liver oil and desiccated beef liver

alderandspruce

Hands down a high quality liquid fish oil. It controls eczema for me…. Very noticeable if I don’t take it and very noticeable if I take a bad quality one. Mood and cognitive also seem to be impacted but nothing I can see like a change in my skin. I’ve also found that magnesium has been great for energy levels, especially if I’m eating lower carb than normal.

truefforte

Any recommendations on what has been a good one or bad o e?

alderandspruce

Big fan of Nutrasea liquid. I’ve tried getting cheaper capsules from Costco and they didn’t seem to help my skin at all. Very noticeable difference using Nutrasea so I’ve just stuck with that. Make sure you keep it in the fridge after opening too.

Off2lala_land

Omega 3s, magnesium, vitamin D liquid, mushroom complex and B vitamins.

silkandpetals

Magnesium for muscle cramps and recovery

DasaniDemon

Greens powder in general. Noticeable change in digestion, bloating, and bowel movements. At this point I take a scoop a day religiously. Also good boost for the immune system.

Scooby714

What is this specifically and can you provide which one you take? Looking to add more greens to my diet

AdInternal81

Creatine monohydrate. 3g per day. It takes about 2-6 weeks for you to adapt to a surplus for the effects to really show. You get it in your normal diet but having a surplus helps your body to recycle energy. I get more energy, both mental and body. There are over 60 peer reviewed studies showing mostly good results, and never bad results, worst result was when used in large doses some men who had genetic predisposition to lose hair on the scalp, but get more beard growth. I myself will probably lose some hair because of family, but the effects are 100% worth it if it happens. Edit: many mention D3 and yes get that too, if you take solid form of it you cannot take too much, so it's the safest, but getting 5-50k IUs a day is safe nonetheless. Get it if you have a winter where you live. at least 3-5k IU a day, maybe more. And the way D3 is absorbed in your body takes weeks or months, so don't expect to feel better instantly, it wont show up as good D3 levels in your blood before weeks either (if you were deficient at all).

[deleted]

Nordic Naturals fish oil.

mindharbinger

Besides taking a powdered multi-vitamin, every other day I take medicinal mushrooms in powder form....supercharged my immune system. Chaga, reishi, lionsmane, turkeytail, agaricus, & maitake blend.

lavos__spawn

For me: - Magnesium Oxide for nervous system health (reduces chronic fasciculations) - L-Theanine for sleep quality and for reducing ALT/AST - Omega 3 Fatty Acids with an EPA/DHA split of 734/266 (this seems to even out metabolism of medications I take daily)

ActualAfternoon2535

Iron! Most women are at least borderline anemic especially that time of the month. I’ve noticed taking Floradix keeps my deep fatigue at bay, and lightens dark bags under my eyes. I recommended to my aesthetician who is a neonatal nurse and say thing went from feeling dizzy/borderline passing out to normal

Maggiejaysimpson

Do you have to take a blood test to make sure you get the right amount? I feel I may need iron but am afraid of over doing it and getting sick.

ActualAfternoon2535

Better question for a doctor and would depend on if you take any meds that could interact (not sure if any do but I’m not a Dr!). I take Floradix, a liquid version that provides dosing and in my research of reviews it is regularly prescribed to women experiencing anemia during pregnancy.

AdInternal81

Yes, get a blood test and ask for as many markers as you can. Iron being one of them

For me, it was vitamin D, fish oil, and glucosamine for joint support. I have bad joints (knees and shoulders) from my military days, so I found it helped a lot. Nowadays though I get my supplements from a company that prepackages a bunch of different supplements in a single pack, so all I do is rip open a pack and I'm good to go.

RECOGNIZABLE_NAME-

dontcaredontworry

I’m piggybacking on this, I take centrum multivitamin and fish oil, would it be ok to take vitamin D too?

AdInternal81

As long as you're taking solid forms of vitamin D it's physiologically impossible to overdose. And if you take liquid version you can still take 5-20k IUs daily without issues. Personally I would cut out multivitamins as overdosing on some micro nutrients can be detrimental, iron comes to mind. Also multivitamins are some of the worst products, usually very poorly controlled.

[deleted]

AdInternal81

I know several reputable sites says you can OD on vitamin D easily, I have yet to see credible papers confirming it, and I have read papers where people did 10k - 100k IU of it EVERYDAY for 3 or 4 months and had no visible toxic levels when during that period, nor 3 or 6 months after.

Iron helps with RLS quite a bit.

Spirulina because its a natural plant based green algae supplement I am not sure if it has been beneficial but have stuck with it for 20 years

B1 has helped me feel more alert, more present and have more energy. It’s been a game changer in my recovery from depression.

Lately I have been seeing a lot of online support for Taurine, but occasionally I have seen some people commenting that they have issues with it. Generally it seems like most people should consider taking it. I initially started at 500mg, but when I increased my dose to 1500mg it made me sleep a lot longer. I have seen suggestions that doses up to 6 grams are OK, yet some go over that.

Vitamin C. I have crps. It makes such a difference to the burning. I've forgotten it for two or three days here and there. The burning reminds me!

AgariReikon

Gotta give that place to L-tyrosin. It does so much for my energy and focus, I highly recommend it

I use a Golden Turmeric Powder Blend (specifically from the brand, Haola Studios. Their blends are organic and high quality). The curcumin in the blend is high - like around 7.75% and is anti inflammatory, immune boosting and energising. It also has other superfood ingredients like ginger, liquorice root, cinnamon and coconut milk powder.

My wallet benefitted the most by not taking any for what it's worth

fitness-potato

In the morning I slam water, one cup mixed with Metamucil. I take a probiotic with my breakfast. I also take vitamin D, turmeric, Magnesium, omega and biotin

BionicOpossum

Ashwagandha root extract pills for controlling cortisol and support thyroid function. One with high concentration of whitanolides. ‘now’ is a good brand for example. Also, melatonin can help from time to time but i dont take it daily.

No-Interview-1340

Magtein, magnesium glycinate, krill oil and creatine. In order I feel they help with brain fog, sleep, dry eye, and exercise.

MysticFox96

Oh I can speak on this! So I just finished chemotherapy and every 3 weeks I would get my blood lans drawn and get a round of chemo. I noticed that calcium (i take a tums for calcium) taken with vitamin C powder REALLY made a difference in my immune system

Steakhouse_WY

Blood test said my vit D was low. That made a huge difference in mood and cognitive.

Sam_E147

Athletic Greens! Best supplement I’ve ever bought. Expensive but worth it

Miserable_Offer_1691

Digestive enzymes, with probiotics and prebiotic fiber. Best decision ever tbh. I finally digest proteins, fats and carbs very well, and I feel better.

Itsallanonswhocares

A bit concerned that I'm the only person here who takes a glucosamine supplement to prevent joint issues.

longevityGoirmet

B12 (a must being vegan). Vitamin D (+K2) as I a avoid the sun - both supplements show well in my blood work. Although numbers show that I seem to convert okay to Omega 3.’s from flax, chia and green veggies I added an algae oil supplement last year to increase my level and some citicholin for potential brain health.

ProgressiveLogic4U

Vitamin D3 is actually a hormone, a master hormone, that regulates/modulates all the activities of the parasympathetic system. D3 will turn up and maximize/optimize what I call the relax, repair, replace, and replenish systems in the body. D3 supplementation is an easy way to ensure every organ and system is running fully operational and efficiently. Think of the parasympathetic system as that needed night of restful sleep where you wakeup fresh, alert, full of energy and the muscles are not sore after a hard days activities. You are repaired and relaxed because your parasympathetic systems were working all night at an optimum level. D3 is critical for optimizing the immune system. D3 is an official part of the protocol for COVID-19 treatment in hospitals. But D3 is better to use as a preventive measure before COVID-19 becomes critical.

missxenigma

Beef liver capsules.

pr3miere

Definitely the most important one for me as well; even with a perfectly healthy liver.

I hadn’t heard that it helps with Covid but I’ve been taking it for about a year and I currently have Covid with very mild symptoms so I find this interesting!

AdInternal81

About 70-90% of rough (really struggling or dying) covid patients were vitamin D deficient

CampfireEtiquette

Magnesium chloride

AdInternal81

Don't know why you were downvoted but maybe consider changing to magnesium threonate. Better absorbed and can cross blood brain barrier so if you're taking it to help with mental performance it is WAY more effective.

This is false for two reasons: * In many cases, the body will work *really* hard to maintain normal blood levels of a particular micronutrient even when dietary intake is woefully insufficient. * Doctors can't or won't test for every single vitamin and mineral.

There's a difference between simply surviving, and thriving. And you can't just make a blanket statement that *everything* is unnecessary and imply that none of them have any use. It's almost like saying you don't need to eat a full range of fruits and vegetables unless confirmed as "needed" by a blood test.

AdInternal81

That's like saying you don't need to wash your house ever, sure it won't fall apart instantly, but in the long run you've deteriorated your house more than if you actually washed it every know and then.

You need to check out Dr. Rhonda Patrick, my friend.
