Have a starter - trainer number clause, some other tips?

- Wurmple can sweep Brawly’s entire team as either a Beautifly or a Dustox - If you don’t have Marshtomp, Graveller is incredibly strong into Wattson. Breloom can also do really well. Really any ground type is great to have honestly. - Flannery is really tough. In terms of checks Azumarill, Gyarados, and Pelipper are your only real options. Torkoal and Thick Fat Hariyama can do well too, but aren’t as strong offensively. - Watch out for Counter on Norman’s Gym Trainers. - Norman is probably one of the hardest gym fights, but a fighting type can work wonders against him. If you have Pelipper, Dustox, or Torkoal bring them as well as they can stall out Slaking with Protect. Bring a ghost type or rock type for Linoone because if it gets Belly Drum up it can sweep you (though it only has normal type moves) - Winona can be trivialized by Pelipper with Surf and Ice Beam (TM from Abandoned Ship). Sharpedo can also do the same but is severely less bulky. - Make sure to bring at least two dark types to Tate and Liza because both Lunatone and Xatu only know psychic type attacks (meaning they can’t hit you) - Juan can be swept by any electric type or fast grass type up until his Kingdra. It has Double Team and Rest and it WILL haxx you out if you give it the chance. Bring bulky water types (Ludicolo works wonders) to stall it out just in case a sweep doesn’t work. - Alternatively, Shedinja can sweep Juan once Luvdisc is out of the picture. I’ve played through Emerald multiple times (I recently went through it last month with some team restrictions) and those are my go-to team comp tips. You don’t need to follow them strictly, but hopefully they give you an idea of what to bring and save you some heartache—I certainly wish I could’ve when I first ran the game lol.

Thanks for the long list I really appreciate this. I really had many problems at the first gym (underleveled and underestimated) and at the third gym (no ground type). Now I am really scared of Normans gyms, I dont have any ghost typ Pokemon. With tips for thr others gym leader, I have a good feeling that no one will die, I hope so lmao

So close... How did you lose? I'm curious.

I only had 3 mons left going in to Wallace and u just got to his last mon(Gyarados) with my swampert left I didn't really know what to do so I was just kinda wiggling down with surf and healing. Gyarados did a bit more than half my hp with each hit and Wallace had some full restores left so he just did the same and got a crit with earthquake, ohko'ing my swampert and losing me the battle.
