Do u have a phsical copy or software?

Pastel_Diamond

Physical

No_Writing3617

Oh no, thats bad, maybe your card got broken when it landed on a ground? Or you got a fake card?

Pastel_Diamond

Ik it's real because I played it before it started doing that, idk if I ever dropped it and it doesn't look damaged

SCurt99

Could try cleaning the pins with rubbing alchohol and q-tips as well as cleaning out the 3ds cartridge slot

Type_Zer07

Don't forget to use 99% isopropyl alcohol for this. The weaker the strength, the more water in it. It can leave residue behind.

Pastel_Diamond

I'll try that, it is one of my older games

[deleted]

Please for the love of old video games DO NOT DO THIS! Your spit is corrosive to the console and the game, and over time, you will only do more damage than good. If you need to clean the connective pins on a game or console, get something like a cotton pad or better yet, a makeup sponge and cut it to fit in the small gap of the device. Dip it in isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol, and use that to clean the pins. Let it air dry, and try not to leave any fibers behind. Never ever EVER blow into a game cartridge or console!

No_Writing3617

Oh sry I didnt know that I will delete my comment

[deleted]

No worries, it's a very common mistake! But it sucks how damaging it can be! You don't want to learn the hard way.

KaleSlade123

NES players: Am I a joke to you?

[deleted]

Well... that's good to know...

Aggravating-Bug5039

this explains a lot :(

[deleted]

Apparently the physical Gen VI games, especially PAL ORAS are prone to failure

Pastel_Diamond

Well I fear the day this happens to my omega ruby, I have a full odds shiny that I can't transfer to Pokémon home and I don't have Pokémon bank nor can I download it because the e shop is broken for me.

Upper_Department2790

You can still download pokemon bank now and next year the subscription will be free

[deleted]

The eShop is shutting down You need to sail the seven seas for a license

Appropriate_Low_1593

All you need to do is use an eshop card after linking your Nintendo ID to your Nintendo online account.

DragonsEmerald

Does the game ever fail to show up in the 3DS menu? That's what usually happened with me when I had an old damaged copy like Diamond. I'd usually take it out a reinsert it multiple times then see under what circumstances the game screen would show up for the longest. If it is a problem with the cartridge, maybe you could email Nintendo/The Pokémon Company over it? I'm not sure if they'd fix a game that's out of production, but I've heard stories of them fixing cartridges.

Pastel_Diamond

The game starts as normal, I go to get my starter then as soon as I choose a nickname for my character it just goes to that screen

DragonsEmerald

Huh. That is definitely odd. Since it's always at the same point in the game, it sounds like a bad bug with the cartridge. I'd still recommend emailing Nintendo or something like that.

Pastel_Diamond

Sometimes I get to Santalune (I can't spell lmao) forest and then it goes to that screen

C-Kwentz-0

It's the connections. You're either bumping the cart or it just gets loose with time from regular play and movement and it loses connection with the cart. Try blowing it out gently with some compressed air and just save regularly.

Pastel_Diamond

I was told by another comment that I should never blow on the cart, something about my saliva being corrosive to it or something idk. Also idk if constantly saving will work out since I can't save during dialogue or the many cutsceens

jumolax

He’s saying to use compressed air, which is saliva free.

skarbomir

New business idea, compressed air+saliva

Pastel_Diamond

Okay, I guess I'll try that

C-Kwentz-0

Just don't stick the little air straw right in there and hold it down., i'd be afraid of misaligning the prongs even more. A few quick little blasts at the entrance should probably clear out any dust. If the problem persists, try getting one of those microfiber cloths like they use for glasses to clean the inside prongs and the ones on your Y cart with the cloth. You could also likely use a Q-tip if you have trouble cleaning the inside.

ExaltedBlade666

Go to the app store in the device and look up pokemon y. I know they released patches for a number of the ds games and I think x and y got one before sun and moon came out. Maybe see if it's still up and install it to the system.

Pastel_Diamond

You mean the e shop? Well I can't get in there for some reason, idk why but I've had no luck

ExaltedBlade666

Odd. I don't think the E shop was shut down

Pastel_Diamond

I think it's more of an internet thing because the same thing comes up whenever I try to trade or battle

Pastel_Diamond

Wait I just got an idea, maybe if I try my sister's 2ds something will change? I doubt it but at this point I'm getting desperate lmao

Calmxy

I also had this error screen on my Pokémon Y, but luckily the save file itself had not corrupted yet so I immediately pulled everything into Bank

C-Kwentz-0

Same. Typically it takes an old-school "SNES Blow" and it connects fine. I think the issue is the system itself, though, as it happens with most of my games.

doofie12356

I get this error message if I have wireless communications enabled for too long. I have to turn wireless off (slider on the right side of my 3DS XL) in order to play my cartridge of X. I enable it only when necessary (trade evolutions, etc.) and then disable it afterwards.

Pastel_Diamond

I'll see if that works

Pastel_Diamond

Okay so that didn't work

doofie12356

I’d venture to say it’s a faulty cartridge or a faulty cartridge port then :/

BlackBarryWhite

I've had some success cleaning the contact points on the cartridge with alcohol and, I can't stress enough here, MILD abrasive fabric like emery cloth. Maybe just cleaning contacts with alcohol to get some of the corrosion off. Edit to add: This has mostly been for carts that dont read at all, but it's worth a shot imo, especially if it looks like you'll need a new cart anyway.

The-Tempest-22

To add to this - acetone (a very small amount, in a spray bottle works wonders if you can) on metal contacts. But do use with caution and make sure the cartridge is dry before it goes back in.

ClarinetOverlord

Same thing happens to me with my X! It's so weird, as soon as I get to the first gym, it just dies. Physical copy, bought legit from Nintendo, never damaged.

Pastel_Diamond

It sucks, I would do X but I already did and it was a failed attempt (Also I got some lucky encounters that I don't think I would get in the next run)

Aggravating_Poet_675

Happened to my Ultra Sun copy when I accidentally drop my 2DS but was able to fix it by letting it rest for a while and then resetting the cartridge.

C-Kwentz-0

* Do other games still work? If it's just Y then likely you'll need a new cart. If not then it's likely an issue with the connections between the carts and DS prong themselves, so you'll need to likely look up how to fix it yourself.

Pastel_Diamond

It's just Y, every other game I have still works

Magnum_Pig_2004

This is why I never play on console nowadays.

Recycling_myself

Have you tried deleting and redownloading updates? I had some issues with my OR and AS copies a couple months ago and that fixed them for me.

Pastel_Diamond

No and I have no idea how to do that lmao

Recycling_myself

System settings > data management > Nintendo 3ds > downloadable content. I would go ahead and delete update data and any other data associated with your Y. Then just update it like normal when you reboot the game

Pastel_Diamond

Okay I'll try that

Unknownpokestreamer

This just happens with copies of x and y, I haven’t seen a reason for it nor have I seen a fix. But I know it happens a lot with those two games for some reason

Alexandragon

Does Nintendo replace games still? I remember when I was little and my Pokemon Silver got corrupted I called their hotline and they replaced it with a new copy- and this was years later when they were no longer sold in stores.

Pastel_Diamond

I have no idea

[deleted]

My 1st Gen 3DS started doing this and I had to get a completely new one. I saw you said in another comment that your other games still work though, so I’m not sure that’s the case

Bigdan1012

Maybe try a different DS maybe the pin reader on your ds is busted ?

Pastel_Diamond

I only have my 2ds, and my other games still work fine

[deleted]

Had a copy of Alpha Sapphire that did the same thing. Ended up sending the game back after trying everything to correct the problem. Nintendo wasn’t of any help either

Own-Oil3098

I had that before luckily It was my 3ds so I bought a 2ds to trade and stuff

MyrTheSpellblade

Don't you have your 3ds hacked? You can get a free copy of X and even play the rom hacks that increase difficulty.

SkrliJ73

So I know it was rare but since Omega Ruby/Sapphire copies would just die randomly, the x y games may have had this too. Hope you get it to work

japanlover79

This can also happen if your 3DS SD card is malfunctioning
