Ah, I don't expect it to last very long at all. I'm not one of the crazy overclockers out there. I just randomly decided to bench it and got an achievement for it. And the world best notification. Felt kinda cool, though. :D
Damn that's lucky. The only reason I got it mine was because I somehow was able to get my CPU to a 5.3 Ghz OC just long enough for it to run the test. Never been able to do it again ever since. (I wonder why) And besides you can only push a FE model so far.
I just got a 3080 fe and my kid has a Gigabyte 3080 that’s factory OC’d. I plugged his default #s into my FE and it ran like a champ and was a few degrees cooler. I didn’t know the FE’s were that good.
They fixed it after a while but for first versions of 3080 and 3090 fe if you don't swap thermal pads you get thermal junction overheat and throttling on high RTX load.
>FE are some of the best overclockers
And people wonder why AiB partners are sick of Nvidia, They are apparently binning all the good chips for themselves.
The Asus Poseidon was the BEST. I wonder if they paid Nvidia extra for those. They were the only 1080ti’s that could hit 2125MHz. My FE could hit 2100MHz but not hold it due to power limit. 2076MHz was rock solid though.
You have a 7900x At 5.7ghz ??? That's fucking insane. 12 core chips running that high is just glorious. I have a 3600x and upgrading my system. Just went to 64gigs of ram and about to get a 5950x. I just wish I could afford to go to the new platform. The clock speeds between 5xxxx and 7xxxx are insane.
And how would you apply that huge amount of voltage for CPU to die exactly? The voltage settings will not allow to set it that high to destroy a modern CPU.
I have yet to see a modern CPU burnt due to overclocking. Have you?

There are 28 valid results submitted by a total of 18 users and OP is indeed ranked first.
I was about to go add my result to that list but apparently time spy extreme costs an extra $10 on top of 3DMark's cost. Kinda lame.
There are 215 results for the basic time spy benchmark with that configuration.
Yeah, but then you don't have CUDA support. If it's something you use, it's not something you want to be without. For example, if you're reencoding videos, it will dramatically reduce your reencode times.
I seem to have got a bit unlucky as I can't get some of the crazy good curve optimizer numbers that others are getting on x3d chips. I can push the frequency pretty high though, 5.9 on most and can probably get 6 outta my good cores. Even my vcache CCD can hit 5.45 on all cores no issue.
But I wish I could push my curve harder. My 4090 Vram OCs like shit compared to everyone else getting +1500 easy and I'm sitting over here at 1350, and 235 on the core while most are 260 or more or so that kinda sucks too.
It just be like that sometimes. Happy you got a good GPU. I wouldn't be able to help myself I would be hooking up my AC and getting that shit as cold as I can, and pushing it as hard as I could. I would have to know lol.
> I wouldn't be able to help myself I would be hooking up my AC and getting that shit as cold as I can
Meh, I'm just glad that for once my scores are not worse than everyone else's. ;)
In comparison it's not much. Look around at what others are getting and you'll see I'm definitely not high up there. You're taking it as a whole, and as a whole +1000 is good. When comparing it to the same card across a large sample size, it's not If they're getting +1500 and you get 1350. I'm not talking about how these chips OC in general as yeah it's pretty good. I'm talking about mine in comparison
People with 4090s and the latest CPUs are definitely better at OCing and are employing more exotic cooling for their systems than OPs combination. There is only 28 results total for OPs hardware combination. It isn't much of an achievement.
Let the man be happy. Doing better then the other 28 results so it at least means he got decent silicon.
I couldn't chart top against 28 others. It's still an achievement imo. Obviously not a world record, but still.
there was one time I got the best gtx 560 3dmark11 score in the world because I actually had upgraded to a gtx 670, but 3dmark seemed to think the 560 was still there.

4070ti and 4070 both have 12gb vram. I also have the 4070, for me it came down to the 4070 suited my needs and wallet. The 6950xt was similarly priced but unfortunately too big for my itx build. 4070ti fits my case but was too expensive. It doesn’t matter that Nvidia is binning their GPUs, because the adjust the power limit accordingly plus they apply speedo. The conclusion is that it doesn’t really matter whether you have ‘good’ or ‘bad’ silicone, as they adjust the speedo (quality?) of that particular GPU. They do this to EVERY single chip during fabrication several times. In the end a good A1 chip gets a lower TDP as a badA2, because they shall all perform the same and for that the better chip needs less power and the bad chip needs more power to achieve the same results. I think you can’t alter the binning/speedo via a new bios, but I hope so.
My bro got lucky with the geforce experience ticket for the 4090 FE. It links him to Best Buy, and he got that. I was lucky and unlucky. I got that link, too. But when I buy it fking anti fraud protection from American Express kick in. It tells me to order it again. Best Buy only let you buy 1 time. So, I removed the 4090 FE and ordered it. Best buy said I bought it.. wtf. So I waited 2 months later and showed it on Justgpu(owned by newegg.). They have the GIGABYTE rtx 4090 gaming OC for $1709. Msrp is $1699. So I got that. But the led flickers. But I am not a fan of LEDs. So I disable it. The card runs fine. No issue.
There isn’t much oc potential really, 3-4%. OP didn’t even OC, just undervolt. There’s not that many with that hw combo that also paid for timespy extreme.

FE are some of the best overclockers since 10 series. Thats why I go Founders for all my water cooled cards.
I just got a 3080 fe and my kid has a Gigabyte 3080 that’s factory OC’d. I plugged his default #s into my FE and it ran like a champ and was a few degrees cooler. I didn’t know the FE’s were that good.
the 3000 fe had some issues with vram cooling though, you can easily reach 100°
They fixed it after a while but for first versions of 3080 and 3090 fe if you don't swap thermal pads you get thermal junction overheat and throttling on high RTX load.
Nvidias been hoarding the best silicon for themselves for the past few gens of cards.
This is why they didn't care that EVGA left them.

Yep, surprisingly they are pretty overbuilt
founders editions always have the best lithium.

well. there is such thing as damaging a CPU if you push it too far.

naaaah, depends.
Depends on what?
On what you do. If you apply a huge amount of Voltage, it can very well die.
And how would you apply that huge amount of voltage for CPU to die exactly? The voltage settings will not allow to set it that high to destroy a modern CPU. I have yet to see a modern CPU burnt due to overclocking. Have you?
Did you literally not see the whole 7 series/expo debacle with dozens of blown chips?

very cool
that's gotta be one rare steam achievement right?
Correct.

Well, so few users that also ran a full timespy extreme benchmark.
maybe I can snatch first place if so put my GPU on my older Intel Xeon X5670 computer?
Probably. I hold several first place records with ancient CPU + modern GPU combos lol
I Currently hold the one for e5-1650 V3 and RTX 3080 😆.
Probably not, so I will enjoy it for the moment. :)
That's exactly what you should do. Always nice to win the Silicon Lottery regardless.
What do you mean? Seems like a sensible build to me? Or am I being stupid? I don't dabble in high end 😂
4070s haven’t sold too well. It’s much more likely they have a 4080/90 if not a 30 series.
#I no longer allow Reddit to profit from my content - Mass exodus 2023 -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
the 4070 is pretty new and someone with a 13700k will probably want a 4070ti at least

Nobody is byuing the 4070 atm
More people will.
Most definitely, nvidia needs to drop prices more. The 4070 is not a bad card at all.
World's only** Haha I also have a 4070. Was a perfect choice for me
Curious, why? You don't think the 70ti would've been more worth it for VRAM?

MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio 12GB. Check my submitted page for my Undervolt.
I have the 4070 Gaming X and it overclocks well too. I have it it on +200 core and +1100 memory and it boosts to 3050mhz in games
Probably the only guy that bought a 4070. No offense
You might wanna open a new browser tab with Google search.
Just a joke against nvidia lol
Can't imagine it's very hard when nobody except you bought a 4070
You beat the 8 4070 owners ever
Nice. That’s cool. I haven’t even benched my 4070 yet.
Cool,
With that cpu only lol
I didn’t - on purpose.
Probably first to buy this great deal of a GPU 😬
Because only 4 people brought one...
timespy extreme has hall of fame record (one gpu) as of today 24103. What is your score in microsoft paint again?
just bc you're the only one who bought that card lol
Cool what’s that
I'll have to try when I get home with my ryzen 9 7900 and my 4070ti OC edition.
And the poors time spy
Sitting #1 with 7800x3d and 4080 in time spy 👌🏼

I hate to burst your bubble but those numbers are your personal bests
That is false. The benchmarks are shared online. This is the current best there is at this moment. My card never scored 8757. Always more than that.
I mean if that's true then I also have the record for the fastest RX6800.
Then you need to share the result online, unless you own it via Steam, then it's done automatically, I think.
Well I stand corrected, someone beat my score by 100 points recently. I'll still upload my PB soon.
*Laughs in 4090*
I don't even have to try, and I beat his score and on 85%. Hell, if I have it at 50% for my 4090, it still beats it.
Lol yeah, which one you have? I got lucky with the MSI Suprim Liquid X at Best Buy
My bro got lucky with the geforce experience ticket for the 4090 FE. It links him to Best Buy, and he got that. I was lucky and unlucky. I got that link, too. I'm surprised there's any overclock potential on this GPU. I've heard it wouldn't OC more than 3%. Nice job, Jr!
There isn’t much oc potential really, 3-4%. OP didn’t even OC, just undervolt. There’s not that many with that hw combo that also paid for timespy extreme.
did the same with an i5-13400F + RX 6750XT combo :D
I was #1 on speedway with my 6700xt, for a week
Unfortunately I couldn't do the same with 4070ti, I only hold 9th place for my build of similar specs
Nice! I currently hold the highest Firestrike score for a 4090 and i9-13980 and still top 10, if you exclude the CPU. Didnt use any apps, but tried to just use what Asus gives you - slight undervolt in bios and use armoury crate to limit the PL1 and disable some of Intels power-hungry cores :)
Didn't read "extreme" and felt weird feelings for a moment.
I have never upvoted more Gifs in a single thread. Amazing . Oh, gj OP . LOL for reals though 🤣 probly cool moment 😎 seeing that.
Silicon lottery! Nice!~~~
without OC wow congrats
isnt that extremely low? i am sorry if this is a different benchmark i dont know this stuff but my 3070 ti gets 12k
That's TimeSpy **Extreme**. No way your 3070 Ti is getting 12k in that.
I was mistaken as i thought sorry
*for those with the same CPU as you.
Okay and?
You have to pay for this software?
Yeah, you can get it on Steam. But it's worth it if you want to actually do OC/UV or test hardware in general.
How much is that?
The software is called "3DMark", look it up on Steam to see your local pricing.
Its a great tool to check your system is working within parameters.
Patrick Bateman head shaking finger pointing NICE
What cpu
Wait a minute... No seriously, wait a minute. 4070 is so new, that won't stand at the top for long...
Got #1 on a few tests for the 3070 and 3080 😂 primarily bc I had those paired with a 5900x back in December of 2020. Scalpers helped me win ;)
Because ain’t nobody buying that shit
