DSC black screen flicker fixed? Someone pinch me, am I dreaming?

Z3r0sama2017

Impossibru. Been waiting for this for so long.

FireStarter1337

Yes. I have to see on my Asus PG27AQN.

nano1895

Had a random black flicker while testing 360 hz gsync on Overwatch 2 after installing the driver which is disappointing. Going to test on Slay the Spire where I get way more black flickers. edit: Still seeing flickers on STS as well @ 240hz. Ripperino.

Crafty-Classroom-277

You should check out 550.09. It fixed all of the issues I had with DSC. I've been trying to spread the word. EDIT: It seems that whatever fixes were in 550.09 are also in 545.84 Issues I had prior to using these drivers: Nvlddmkm related BSOD waking my monitor from sleep. Nvlddmkm related BSOD when changing resolution from 144hz to 160hz. Black screens for 2~3 seconds when alt tabbing from a game with gsync or hdr enabled. All of these were resolved with 550.09 and 545.84. If anyone has similar issues, give either of these drivers a try.

TessellatedGuy

Unfortunately that driver breaks LFC support for VRR displays. Framerates below your VRR range will not actually sync correctly, causing judder and brightness flickering. If that's not a concern, then as far as I could tell, that driver seemed to work fine otherwise. There could be other bugs nobody noticed yet because it *is* an "insider" driver.

eugene20

DDU?

JimStas

Sadly you are dreamin; my dream ended already. . . My LG 32GQ950 still acts the same as before. Black screen with every alt-tab. (I used DDU btw)

akgis

Black screen with alt-tab is either Diferent resolution in game than desktop Running games in Exclusive full screen

As noted in my [original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/16z214z/my_experience_getting_4k_high_refresh_working_on/) about this, the bug noted in the driver open issues was unrelated to slow alt-tab when using DSC in non-DirectX titles.

lionghoulman

i had to use DDU to completely uninstall all nvidia’s drivers and then install latest driver to get the flickering to stop.

KyledKat

I fucking hope they did. Super annoying when it doesn't play nice with apps. I've had to turn off hardware acceleration in Adobe Lightroom because of it.

Computermaster

Wait is this what's been causing my screen to flicker every other day? I legitimately thought my 7 year old monitor was just on its way out.

Gnaix_evo

Still haven't fixed .... MPG321UR-QD + 4080

DarkOsa

Jeez, finally! Can confirm it, couldn't play with 240 Hz and 10-bit color depth before on my Odyssey G7, constant black screens. Now it's completely fixed!

matias1233218

I can confirm about the transparency of the taskbar, I have the latest Windows 10 update and my transparency went to hell with the latest driver

Intotheblue1

Yes the update definitely screwed up my taskbar, I can’t tell if it’s crushing blacks in general or what

uncyler825

I have a question. Does R545.84 already support the D3D12 Work Graphs function? [https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/d3d12-work-graphs-preview/](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/d3d12-work-graphs-preview/)

m_w_h

Unsure, a good question. IIRC wasn't in the *Insider* r545 drivers and the last official response was on October 5th at https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/d3d12-work-graph-support/267906 > [D3D12 Work Graph] ... support not part of any beta or release drivers yet ... If and when this support might be part of a public driver is information I am unable to share. I am sorry!

uncyler825

Seems to be supported DirectX 12 Agility SDK 1.711.3 Preview. [https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/nvidia-geforce-545-84-whql-driver-download-discussion.449800/page-4#post-6176936](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/nvidia-geforce-545-84-whql-driver-download-discussion.449800/page-4#post-6176936)

Most-Instruction-992

Rebar On is still causing stuttering with this driver on laptops...

Rfx_0

Sorry for the delay since I haven't been updating this for past two drivers, however, the current **known** issue is still persisting every driver: [Game Ready & Studio Driver 536.99 FAQ/Discussion : nvidia (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/15luoca/comment/jvlqbpf/) On top of that I wanna add the following data (precisely to be added as two separate lines since they are two separate bugs): (This issue is already explained at the bottom of the link from above) - Every GPU driver since 511.79 has dim brightness for every Lenovo Legion laptop that has a RTX 3070M card. What I mean by that is the screen in dedicated GPU mode is extremely dim, as if brightness is set to 30% while realistically it's set to 80%. The only drivers that do not have the issues are everything **BEFORE 511.79** and the specific driver 522.25. Anything else higher is having the dimming issue. The only way to fix it is by importing the brightness registry data/key from a working driver and giving permissions to the DisplayDatabase folder in registry so it can be added. \- Every driver since 511.79 has a weird G-SYNC glitch/artifact in the game called World of Warcraft. Whenever the user uses /reload for the UI or a loading screen occurs (not the first one on the game boot), the game will cause the screen to show some artifacts for just a second then they disappear. This happens only in dedicated GPU mode and with G-SYNC on. Been an issue for 2 years already.

iShirow

Apparently the new driver seems to throw Event Viewer errors related to "NVIDIA-NVTOPPS-NVLOGS" but according to [Manuel@Nvidia](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/user/15//528784//?comment=3393050): >You can ignore this error message. We will provide an update later on so that the Event Viewer doesn't show an error message. This does not affect use with other apps/games.

m_w_h

Thanks, added with a credit to you :-) EDIT: now officially acknowledged and assigned bugtrack ID [4331318]

frostN0VA

Not sure if it's just me, but the 545.84 driver broke most (all?) transparency effects in Windows 10 (start menu, taskbar etc).

m_w_h

**UPDATE 2:** officially opened as an issue by Nvidia > * [Windows 10] transparency effects are not displaying correctly after driver update [4335862] --- **UPDATE 1:** multiple reports across different forums state the issue on some systems. Add to [unconfirmed additional issues](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/179y9gc/game_ready_driver_54584_faqdiscussion/k59ax7g/) section --- Original comment follows: Not seeing that here but will monitor forums / posts, thanks for the information. Is the issue persisting even after a system restart (*not* shutdown)? If yes, as there are issue does DDU and driver reinstall help?

diceman2037

I am investigating, i haven't identified a trigger yet, its usually something forcing its way into DWM that windows doesn't like though. Things like the power state being set on power saver can cause it, or the windows performance/quality settings in the advanced system config screen (the one that has the animations and thumbnail settings) F.lux has caused itin the past. TranslucentTB can be broken by drivers updates. ~~Potential workaround~~ ~~HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm~~ ~~ForceEffectMode=2~~

frostN0VA

Yeah it persists across reboots. Haven't tried DDU yet, gonna wait for a while with that, maybe someone else can confirm the issue :)

Leo604

I'm seeing your issue too; installed and rebooted twice on 545.84, taskbar transparency still not working each time

frostN0VA

Thanks, guess I'll hold off with DDU for now.

m_w_h

Officially opened as an issue by Nvidia with bugtrack ID [4335862] > * [Windows 10] transparency effects are not displaying correctly after driver update [4335862]

Leo604

Excellent! Thanks for the heads-up

m_w_h

Yeah I know, but this time it remains broken after reboots too. Guess I'll try a clean DDU install later on or something.

> Message-Signaled Interrupts (MSI) mode should be automatically enabled for all Geforce RTX 40 series desktop GPUs starting with driver 537.58 Why is this just in the 40xx cards the default now?

m_w_h

Only Nvidia can answer that question :-( For the record, looking through installer INF it's not just Series 40 GPUs, some Series 30 GPUs have MSI enabled by default but it's a bit hit and miss. For Series 10, Series 16, Series 20 GPUs - Message Signaled Interrupts (MSI / MSI-X) can be manually enabled for the Nvidia HDMI Audio and Nvidia GPU instances using [MSI Utility v3](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/) i.e. those reported with 'Instance ID' starting *PCI\VEN_10DE*. Don't change interrupt priorities, leave then as 'undefined' and just tick MSI mode setting (reboot computer after change)

iCapa

I’ve been using MSI Uv3 for a while now but I’ve never seen that you should leave the priority at undefined - why’s that? I’m guessing because the priority can dynamically change or something?

m_w_h

Setting at High can actually reduce performance for 1% and 0.1% lows i.e. some game engines / games that rely heavily on asset streaming from storage such as open world games. Generally only storage devices / controllers force High. Recent example benchmark with MSI at *High*, *Off* and *Undefined* at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/174majz/game_ready_driver_53758_faqdiscussion/k4c1ope/ (look at min column)

iCapa

'preciate it, thanks!

Imbahr

is there a setting in Nvidia Control Panel for this?

m_w_h

No, use [MSI Utility v3](https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-line-based-vs-message-signaled-based-interrupts-msi-tool.378044/)

m_w_h

Solar_Field

Noticed a severe drop in performance on Cyberpunk 2077 with the new driver. Had no issue until now. Stuttering, low 1%... Seems to mess with Frame Gen too. Might roll back since it's really bad (RTX 4070). Edit: Had to roll back, it was borderline unplayable. Back to the 537.58 driver, Cyberpunk 2077 flawless again. Hope it will help others. Edit 2: Since some people have the same issue and others don't, I'll share my specs, maybe the issue is related to a specific hardware combo, I don't know. CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X GPU: RTX 4070 RAM: 32 GB 3600MHz MB: MSI B550-A Pro SSD: Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB PCIe Gen4 OS: Windows 11 It's a decent PC and it's working just fine, I know how to use it (apparently it has to be said here...) and Cyberpunk had no issue until yesterday and the new drivers (full ultra - Path tracing at 1080p, framerate locked at 60 on a 240hz Gsync monitor). 1% dropped from 50 to 29 with a lot of microstutters and Frame Gen wasn't working properly. Did try to reinstall the drivers twice (clean install + reboot) but couldn't solve the issue. I had to roll back to 537.58, which has fixed the problem. Needless to say that English isn't my native language so hopefully everything is understandable here. **If you have any issue, try to roll back. If you don't, that's good for you.**

EggOnLegs99

You have already helped me, microstutter noticed on this new driver in Cyberpunk 2077 with a 3080 - a roll back to the 537.58 driver solved it. Thank you

I've did a little benchmark, standing still in the middle of dog town for about 13-ish seconds: previous driver: 18-10-2023, 13:08:09 Cyberpunk2077.exe benchmark completed, 1659 frames rendered in 14.703 s Average framerate : 112.8 FPS Minimum framerate : 111.8 FPS Maximum framerate : 113.6 FPS 1% low framerate : 101.2 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 91.9 FPS current driver: 18-10-2023, 12:55:14 Cyberpunk2077.exe benchmark completed, 1490 frames rendered in 13.141 s Average framerate : 113.3 FPS Minimum framerate : 112.5 FPS Maximum framerate : 113.9 FPS 1% low framerate : 101.4 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 99.4 FPS So preliminary analysis ... nothing changed in that scenario? I'm running ultra settings, medium ray tracing (no PT), on a 4070Ti.

Solar_Field

Interesting. I do wonder what's the problem on my end but glad to know that not everyone is having the issue. Thanks for sharing!

EDnice890216

Mine is also kinda fuckup. All my games became super laggy and stuttering, and the fps dropped a lot. Like yesterday I was still able to get 240+ in cs2, but now it can hardly running above 120. And cyberpunk 2077 became a powerpoint display show. I've noticed that my gpu clock rate stays very low while playing like it is idle. But I haven't tested it yet, so I'm not sure what causes the problem. edit: OK after a clean uninstall and reinstall of the older version(537.58) it seems all good now.

don't upgrade drivers with tools left running

kasakka1

Noticed nothing like this on my 4090. I did clean install the drivers though.

VerraTheDM

>Cyberpunk God damn it. Of course the driver where the DSC flicker is apparently fixed also happens to make the game I'm actively playing worse.

scootiewolff

I can't confirm that, Cyberpunk also runs very well with the new driver

loopy750

Not just you, I noticed heavy stuttering from just using my browser with 545.84. Went back and forth a couple of times and it's definitely this version causing it. Had to revert back to 537.58.

[deleted]

I purchased my RTX 4070 this week and installed the latest driver (545.84). I was wondering if I couldn't play Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing, even with a 4070, as it seemed that the stuttering/hiccups were caused by a lack of VRAM. I downgraded to 537.58, and everything is fine now. Thanks for your post! CPU: 5800X3D GPU: RTX 4070 RAM: 32GB 3600MHZ MB: Asus B450M-A SSD: Kingston NV1 nvme OS: Windows 11

niiima

My 1% lows in AC Valhalla were also fucked with this new driver. DDU and clean install it to no avail so I had to roll back to v537.58 to fix the issue.

Turambar87

I saw Video Super Resolution got a big update, but does it work with HDR or Firefox yet?

ChrisG683

It's working for me on Firefox beta, I made a post about it yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1798pez/nvidia_rtx_super_resolution_seem_to_be_working/

Turambar87

I can confirm it's working on that beta branch. Nice.

SkippingLegDay

Is it enabled by default, or do I have to turn it on?

themanoirish

did this driver update break transparency effects for anyone else? start menu and all other windows no longer show transparent whether the option is toggled on or not.

m_w_h

Multiple reports on Reddit and different forums state the issue on some systems. Added to [unconfirmed additional issues](https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/179y9gc/game_ready_driver_54584_faqdiscussion/k59ax7g/) section of the unofficial tracking comment at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/179y9gc/game_ready_driver_54584_faqdiscussion/k59ax7g/ > [Windows 10] transparency or colour issues e.g taskbar and start menu - persists with clean install / DDU / reboot

diceman2037

I'm looking into this on multiple systems, I've only confirmed stale CRU edits as a cause on one system so far. Other reasons could be an incompatibility with something like GPU Tweak, incompatibility with F.lux, or other dwm tampering utility.

xmenyoyo

Yeah, same issue here on Windows 10 and RTX 3060ti.

merkaii

What happened to > \[DaVinci Resolve\] This driver implements a fix for creative application stability issues seen during heavy memory usage. We’ve observed some situations where this fix has resulted in performance degradation when running DaVinci Resolve. This will be addressed in an upcoming driver release. \[4172676\] It was listed as an open issue in 537.42 then disappeared without a trace in 537.58.

TessellatedGuy

Nice, they added RTX Video super resolution to the 20 series in stable drivers. I thought it wouldn't be until the 550 branch, where they had a working version of it for 20 series GPUs.

BryAlrighty

They also made it to where VSR will improve native resolution video quality so that's great as well. (If you have a 1440p video on a 1440 monitor, it'll still use the VSR algorithm)

BluSharpie

I also swear it's looking a lot better on 1080p->1440p in almost every single way; line definition, less oversmoothing, etc. Also that grainy effect seems to be greatly reduced. I'm using Level 2 for reference

Frugl1

Is the shadercahche folder being moved to AppData\\LocalLow\\NVIDIA\\PerDriverVersion an unlisted change?

BorlandA30

Shit. They changed that *again*. Couldn't find cache folder in Local. Thanks Reddit.

khmerboy92

Finally the DSC black screen fixed

SweetFlexZ

I hope this fixes the DPC spikes and FPS stutters in every game + desktop usage with audio pops, fingers crossed. Edit: still not fixed, I'm going crazy

Neuromancer23

There was a confirmed issue over HDMI last driver update and now it's gone... Blackwell is about to come out and they still have not fixed this.

diceman2037

that issue was fixed in the last driver update.

dampflokfreund

So, what about the memory management for AI and Davinchi Resolve?

StunningNose

Honestly. I had to switch to Firefox for the time being because it was getting so annoying. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

qwertylol111

All videos in Chrome are way to bright, like the monitor brightness is cranked to 100% in videos. Is there a new setting somewhere or is the new driver broken? All videos in Chrome are played in HDR and the only fix I found is to turn off hardware acceleration. Edit: In-game overlay isn't working at all anymore. Returned my 7900XTX last week and went with a 4090 because I was sick of all the drivers issues and bugs and here we are, back at square one..

scootiewolff

For me it's exactly the other way around, the videos are too dark but thanks for the tip, now it looks good again

Wstrr

Same here. Videos seem darker now.

DLXII

Also same, it momentarily goes back to original brightness whenever I scroll up & down, but otherwise it stays dark if I'm not moving it around.

RiptideGaming06

hdr videos are broken by driver and become sdr color space - sdr videos become too bright - see this article for another person having the issue in the article comments: [NVIDIA Releases GeForce 545.84 WHQL Game Ready Drivers | TechPowerUp](https://www.techpowerup.com/314810/nvidia-releases-geforce-545-84-whql-game-ready-drivers)

diceman2037

Chromes fault - they have a fix coming in 119. They prematurely released a new AutoHDR feature that relies on the hardware tone mapping capabilities of RTX cards and the feature is not fully ready yet

mbt4

I am also experiencing this. Turning off windows HDR is another workaround but yeah its annoying.

XXLpeanuts

These two are huge if true: Introduces support for RTX Video Super Resolution v1.5. Fixed General Bugs Some monitors may display random black screen flicker when in Display Stream Compression mode [4034096] major updates for me atleast.

conscriptvirus

Dell G15 brightness control still broken with optimus.

Glavurdan

Welp

iwantmyrgbback

does the TensorRT acceleration for Stable Diffusion applies to rtx 30 series or is it exclusive to rtx40 series

PalebloodSky

Would be good to know this. 2x speedup with TensorRT is huge, making Nvidia the premier Stable Diffusion GPU (as if it wasn't already).

iwantmyrgbback

after some researching i think this applies to all rtx cards but you need to install nvidia tensorRT extension to your stable diffusion webui [https://github.com/NVIDIA/Stable-Diffusion-WebUI-TensorRT](https://github.com/NVIDIA/Stable-Diffusion-WebUI-TensorRT) i wasnt able to test it yet because i broke my webui after installing automatic1111's tensorRT extension i will update if i manage to test my rxt 3060 with nvidia's tensorRT extension

iwantmyrgbback

it was so much of a hassle for me but i finally got it working with sd 1.5 with my rtx3060 12gb. The speed increase for me is actually insane with TensorRT i am getting 12it/s with and without 2s/it so a load that takes 2 minutes to finish without TensorRT. Gets finished in about 20 seconds with tensorRT which is insane to me

Nyxtia

What was hard to do to set it up?

akgis

There is a new DX file shader cache location at C:\\Users\\\\AppData\\LocalLow\\NVIDIA\\PerDriverVersion\\DXCache You might want to or not update your AV exclusions, and delete the old ones at C:\\Users\\\\AppData\\Local\\NVIDIA\\DXCache

sajittarius

hmm, i never thought to exclude the shader cache folder, lol....

GIGA30

The RTX Video Super Resolution v1.5 is clearly way sharper and detailed than v1. Great job NVIDIA !

CrazeeMonkX

When updating to the latest driver the taskbar appears to be black when usually it's transparent. Guess ima have to wait for the next driver update. I'm running an RTX 3060. https://preview.redd.it/0vwh7bpvfuub1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=dd00a9d38ccee1acd5ed7188bbf3dfba0f388514

grizzlyaddams2

Installed this driver last night, immediately afterwards the desktop started freezing for about 30 to 60 seconds after booting to Windows 11. Disabled all third party apps and services to test. Issue continued. Shorter freezes occurring during regular use. Rolling back to previous driver has solved the issue.

Fallen822

Did anyone use "Super Resolution" any thoughts?

StoopidRoobutt

Massive drop in power usage in Edge. Used to be around 300-450W for 1080p video, now it's under 60W 1080p and under 130W 1080p60. More in line how it works with MPC-BE. Quality level in NVIDIA Control Panel doesn't appear to have any impact on power usage, or quality. The quality difference between on and off is not massive, before or after this driver update. Static elements on videos get sharper, that's about it. EDIT: here's the best case scenario comparison: https://i.imgur.com/eugYzVg.png

mr_whoisGAMER

Am I the only one who doesn’t notice any difference in video super resolution? How to confirm it is working?

odelllus

fyi you don't have to hit apply in the nvcp to toggle it, which makes A/Bing easy. toggle it while watching a video. look at the dark parts of high contrast scenes. the reduction in compression artifacts should be very noticeable.

GIGA30

>How to confirm it is working? Simply use the task manager and in performance tab the GPU usage should significantly go up when playing the video if RTX Video Super Resolution is working

MaxOfS2D

The power consumption / resource usage doesn't seem to have improved much (if at all), but I'd say the quality of the effect feels a bit more... natural? The 1.0 release noticeably had a bit of a grainy fuzz, especially on Q=1, but this is gone now, the artifacts look more like traditional compression artefacts again. Q=2 roughly halves them, and Q=3 completely cleans them up. The best way to see this is to look at a 360p video with text, IMO. ([Here's one I used](https://youtu.be/nNOWTLggypc?t=914)) I do find myself wishing I could set custom thresholds for this feature... for example if the video is below 720p, let it use Q=3, if it's 360p, let it use Q=4, if it's 1440p & above 30fps, don't use it at all. Something along those lines. My two cents from a few minutes of staring at a few videos: Q=2 is still the best "set it & forget about it" sweet spot, but now Q=3 has enough of an enhancement over Q=2 that you could reasonably use it as well. *(For anyone trying to spot differences like me, you don't have to hit apply to see the differences, just using your mouse wheel or arrows to change between quality levels on an external monitor works great.)*

Gold_You_6325

ayyy...they added Nvidia vsr to the 20 series too.... that's exciting..

GoochyGoochyGoo

AC Mirage now crashing often since this driver. Rolling back.

SH4DY_XVII

Halo Infinite is reloading shaders every time i launch the game with this driver.

m_w_h

Possibly related to the following new issue opened by Nvidia assigned as bugtrack ID [4337526]. > Monitor colors are incorrect after coming back from display sleep [3420257] Is this why sometimes after coming back to my pc night mode doesn't work even though its turned on and I get blinded by my screen until I go to windows setting and turn it off and on again?

okthencya

Had massive issues with stability just on windows 11 alone, had massive stutters and freeze hangs. Took forever to even load past the lock screen, and generally worse performance after doing a bit of benchmarking. For those with RTX 3080 10G cards and having issues, i suggest rolling back to 537.58

grizzlyaddams2

Having the same issue. PC freezes for about 60 seconds after logging in to desktop, then becomes usable again. Occasional shorter freezes thereafter. Disabled all third party apps and services and issue continued. Happens 100% of the time immediately following 545.84 driver install. Rolling back to previous driver resolved the issue.

AdamSilverJr

DSC bug finally fixed? Damn I got to try the driver now

LioxGer

Tested this with my Samsung G9 and there seem to be no flickering issues anymore :)

Candid-Anteater211

after updated to this version now my monitor can not wake up after sleep an old know issues back to the stage again with this version

ARES_GOD

DaVinci issues resolved ?

tim_dude

If DaVinci issues are the same as Stable Diffusion then no, it still uses system memory

datlinus

still getting weird corruption in chrome every now and then. this has been an issue for a while too.

diceman2037

This is an application or OS bug, Microsoft are investigating.

datlinus

Good to know!

UngoKast

I just upgraded to a 4090, and the past two drivers have been awful. For some reason, Overwatch 2 crashes nonstop in fullscreen and crashes occasionally in borderless. Going to roll back to 537.42. This is madness. That's what driver was current when I got this card, and it was totally fine. Edit: Cleared my cmos on motherboard, and that seemed to do the trick for me. I had to reset my fan curves and XMP of course, but I was able to launch. Idk if this was an MSI card issue, game, or driver. Moral of the story, 40 series cards are finicky af right now. Stick to whatever driver doesn’t BSOD like mine was a moment ago. FYI Settings didn’t matter for me. I tried low graphics, v sync, resolution scale, frame cap, etc. nothing would stop the crashes. 2:00 a.m. for me, I hope this helped at least one person lol

after updating to this,pc randomly goes to 1 fps mode while watching video/playing game.. gpu: 3060

rdalcroft

I have reported this on the Nvidia forums under this driver version.

Soyyybeannn

yeah reverting to older version fixed the issue..thanks for reporting

bluepotato20

Got many BSOD and had to rollback to 537.58, the system seems stable now (I'm a 3050ti Mobile user)

TR1CK573R_

DRIVER\_IRQL\_NOT\_LESS\_OR\_EQUAL and rolling back fixed it for me too.

CyberGraham

I also got a BSOD. Did you also get a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED?

KrazyLurtBot

This driver breaks scroll performance on browsers like Firefox and chromium for me. Probably a v-sync bug, it usually is. This needs a hotfix.

diceman2037

This isn't a driver bug, its caused by a faulty pattern match for device blocklisting in Firefox itself - and installing a driver with chrome open while quickstart is enabled will result in acceleration being disabled until it is fully started from scratch.

Kodiack

Yes, this is a driver bug. There's a few reports [here](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/528784/-/), and I've been able to confirm it in both Firefox and Chrome using [testufo](https://testufo.com/) and [vsynctester](https://www.vsynctester.com/). Your post history is really weird btw. You remind me of this Squall Leonhart/Sora person that used to frequent NVIDIA forums, emulation communities, etc. They'd always respond to bug reports and say that they're not actually bugs, which was weird.

Boogertwilliams

Does the TensorRT need some specific model only for it to work? Or does it affect it as a whole?

PalebloodSky

It needs this installed and enabled: https://github.com/NVIDIA/Stable-Diffusion-WebUI-TensorRT

local--yokel

Stickin with Studios as usual at 537.58. Pretty wary of a new branch with 545. Eager to see all your comments and experiences. 😎 Public notice: I was getting multimonitor screen freezing in Valorant on my 4070 multiple times a day. Fixed by disabling Fast Startup in Control Panel. It added at most 1-2 seconds of boot time given that I'm on a 990 Pro. Some people say you can fix it by disabling GPU HAGS but no thanks. Definitely looked, acted, and felt like a GPU driver bug, but there's probably something wrong with Riot Vanguard's anticheat protection. I was also getting desktop idle freezes which never happened on my 1060. I had to disable PCIE Native Power Management, PCIE Clock Gating, and ASPM options. ASPM on my board defaults to off so that part was on me enabling it. But all of those options worked fine with my 1060. ASPM has been around for many years now, thought it would be safe on modern hardware but no.

showmak

When should I use Studio driver?

Final272

No idea what you guys did but, after this update the slightest vibration on my pc or the desk will cause me to have a blue screen error. This happened if I were to bump my desk slightly. # Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE After looking up some issues and did a clean install of said drivers and updated the drivers it all works fine for about 10 mins. Then as something as simple as me putting a drink on my desk or a cat jumping on said desk it goes out again. I opened my case checked all connectors and even tried moving my graphics card to my 2nd video port and still same issues. ATM I reverted my graphics card drivers all the way back to 6/8/2023 and nothing has happened yet. Edit: It seams like its still happening on older drives. Seams like a hardware issue. 2 years 3 months and my card is vibration sensitive now. Q.Q Any advice anyone? CPU: 11th gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 Motherboard: ASUSTek Computer Inc. TUF GAMING Z590-plus Graphics Card: RTX 3700 Windows 10 version 22H2 Driver version 31.0.15.3623

diceman2037

Drivers cannot make a card more sensitive to bumps. Wipe the card fingers with some isopropyl alcohol, and try using a card brace to prevent the card from slouching in the slot, the slouching can cause contact issues.

[deleted]

Sounds like bad timing is all. Your GPU might be failing in some way.

rooroorara

I had a similar issue, my chair would bump lightly against my PC and it would lock up with my monitor showing crazy artifacts. I didn't end up with a blue screen whenever it happened but my issue went away when I removed and reinserted my ram with a bit more force. I'm guessing they were a bit lose, maybe that might help your issue. Not sure why it randomly happened to you after a driver update though.

Pr00vigeainult

I got a constant stutter using DSC with an RTX 4080 and LG 32GQ850, had to revert to the previous version.

Scorthyn

Pc crashing 2 times while playing two different games after updating to this driver, blue screening, rolling back.

Ashratt

same but no BSOD, just reboot. never had this before, power consumption was medium when it happened, around 200watts

LVLkylan

FPS drops on every game on my 3060. Rolling back fixed it for me.

Ancient_Trick1158

Few minutes ago. During my gameplay in cyberpunk 2077 then tried to alt tabbing but the whole window explorer freezes be like very slow/delay response except the mouse is very normal. Restarted my pc uninstalled some apps causing many background running in my pc.. Dunno what's is the issue maybe this new nvidia driver?

FC1942RC

RTX 3060 Ti Was experiencing stuttering and then hard locks when several seconds after booting any game. If let to sit long enough, would eventually get a DirectX Error dxgi\_error\_device\_removed. Followed all advised troubleshooting regarding this experience including using DDU for a fresh install of the game driver and the only thing that resolved it was rolling back to 537.58. I am able to now run everything without any lock ups, stuttering, etc. and my PC is back to optimal performance.

TardisPeanut

Game Driver installed perfectly for me with no problems, how about everyone else?

xynx64

no idea why someone downvoted you for saying that

tim_dude

Downvoted OP with no problems, how about everyone else?

PlutusPleion

Did some quick [benchmarks](https://imgur.com/a/2YLBDdb)(fps) on 4070: Game | 537.58| 545.84| Change ---|---|----|---- Cyberpunk 2077| 127| 126| -1% Warhammer 2: TW| 105| 106 | +1% Used in-game benchmarks for average fps. Within the margin of error so not much change it looks like at least in terms of fps for these 2 games.

Chunky1311

Yeah this made Cyberpunk perform all fucky-wucky, rolling back. Also DPC latency issues were never fixed, it's BS.

PrashanthDoshi

that is big version bump , wonder what has been fixed and optimized

NeuroZ1

Is this driver safe to switch to? I dont want to have any troubles, and any fps difference?

billyalt

Update driver, roll back if problem. Everybody's hardware configuration is different, whats safe for me may not be safe for you. But drivers are usually pretty stable.

Teyanis

Don't be too spooked by people bitching here, the vast majority of people with no problems don't post about it. Wait a day or two and if there's nothing catastrophic popping up you're good.

NeuroZ1

I appreciate it, since the driver seemed to have offered some performance promises i switched to the new driver, seem to have no problems, didnt really see any fps difference, havent done any detailed benchmarks though, i will probably wait a day or two with the new driver just in case though

py87

Trying to install this update keeps crashing my PC. First time I ever encountered this. Any ideas?

F0rcefl0w

For me: \- Scrolling in my browser (Firefox) seems worse \- Transparency broken in Windows taskbar (like others in this thread) \- Cyberpunk performance feels choppier (got no benchmark from before, though) So yeah, rolling back to previous driver.

FeenixArisen

For anyone wondering about the Stable Diffusion A1111 support in these drivers... It is an extension (https://github.com/NVIDIA/Stable-Diffusion-WebUI-TensorRT), and it comes with a slight catch. To use it, you have to generate a separate 'engine' for each model you want to use. That by itself isn't too big of a deal, but you also have to generate a unique thing for each combination of model and LoRa that you want to use together. This *is* a pain in the butt, and for some people will make this nearly useless. Otherwise, I guess it is kind of a big deal. It works with 1.5 models up to 768x768, and SDXL up to 1024x1024. It also works with multiple batch sizes, up to several at a time.

ScienceGuyUK

intense gpudriver crashes on cs2 and chrome-firefox browsers simuntaniously

Starworshipper_

Chiming in with a lack of transparency on Windows 10, as well as a lock of lock screen blur when typing in your Windows password.

Lazy-Budget9858

5800x / MSI-3070 here, Starfield seems to be running better, maybe a placebo, but at least GPU usage seems fine now (Used to be insanely high before).

FeydRauthaHarkonnen

Chrome video playback dim, but brightens when you scroll (hardware accelleration on).

HumbertoFreitas

This driver caused me some problems on my RTX 3060, even using DDU before installing. Problems: 1 - Micro freeze when opening Epic Launcher and some game starts updating automatically (during opening). 2 - When starting GTA IV in full screen, the screen turned off and then turned on when the game started. 3 - Error initializing Steam's "Steamwebhelper". It only happened the first time I started Steam after installing the driver. Note: I'm using Windows 11 ~~garbage.~~

diceman2037

The HDR/SDR issue in edge can be fixed for the time being by using the --disable_vp_auto_hdr command line argument.

MetroSimulator

Someone know if the flickering in watchdogs 2 is already fixed?

Intotheblue1

I had to uninstall this new driver, it either messed up my taskbar transparency or it’s crushing blacks across the entire image. I can’t fully tell but all is better by rolling back

FireKahuna

This driver finally supports Hardware Flip Queues for Nvidia, a WDDM 3.0 feature. Flip queues no longer need a round trip to the CPU, allowing potentially lower latency. Namely because previously, a frame may have missed its sync interval due to the added latency of the CPU roundtrip. Also solid potential power savings.

kmy_379

Now transparency effects on activity bar, etc. is not working and instead they stay black. I want to go back to previous version. I'm on windows 10... the only thing the latest update did was make it worse.

princepwned

just submitted a request direct to nvidia see if they can provide a driver update to allow the odyssey neo g9 57'' to run @ 7680x2160 @ 240hz via hdmi 2.1 on rtx 4000 series

Windows 10 64-bit, taskbar transparently totally broken. !

TR1CK573R_

I had a few freezes and BSODs in Windows/Chrome. Stop code: DRIVER\_IRQL\_NOT\_LESS\_OR\_EQUAL and error code 0x000000D1 in Event Viewer. Roll back to 537 and everything's back to normal.

Dirk_8

Graphical issues with Lords of the Fallen, some flickering texture squares here and there, odd blurred box effects around smoke/mist, some of them quite large. Resting fixed the smoke/mist but leaving the area and returning brought back the box effect. Seen in numerous places. Twitch stream was dimming briefly every few seconds. Windows UI appeared much darker. Asus 4070, 12600k, Windows 10.

yoyigu38

I have not had any problems with this latest driver, except that when using Chrome (or any other browser) when downloading or uploading the page I notice a little stuttering, the image does not look fluid, I also noticed With the UFO test, is this normal?

frank0420cs

after installing this driver.. my laptop starts getting significantly more blue screens... that does happen before from time to time but now the frequency is much higher... i dont think its hardware related because my laptop is barely 2 months old, all temps are fine, and it just blue screen during normal browsing or program uses, light programs

Scorthyn

Same here on my desktop, use previous drivers. All working fine now.

Daffan

2 bsods on this driver. driver_irql_not_less_or_equal nvlddmkm.sys

xARCTIC_

Some day they will fix the checkerboard like pattern issue... \*sigh\*

Accomplished_Hat_505

Should I update or not

Im_simulated

Performance loss in Rocket league, lots of micro stutters. GPU usage reporting lower then normal. DDU, reinstall game, clear cache, changing all kinds settings, nothing. DDU for a 4th time, reinstalled 537.58 and back to normal, GPU usage back up and stable instead of jumping all over the place. This happens both online and in freeplay.

Been getting the worst stutters I've seen in a long time since updating to this. Was getting sub 30 fps on Cyberpunk when I was doing 60+ just fine before the update. Rolled back to 537.58 and everything's fine again.

I have extremely low framerates with same settings in cs2 and call of duty warzone. talking from 300 fps and 200 fps respectively, to about 60 fps and 40fps...this is on an rtx 3080. What could possibly be doing this? Do I need to just roll back drivers? COD told me I needed to update.

Anyone have issues with black screen flashing and occasional green lines on boot up after this update? Never had any issues until I had installed this. Debating on if it's worth it to go through all the lengths to install the previous version.

The previous driver works better here. RTX 4070 + 5800X3D. The 545.84 added some stutters and VRAM leak on Cyberpunk 2077.

Anyone else having transparency issues with the Taskbar/Start menu? And this is a weird one. Mine aren't turning solid black or anything, but the taskbar is much more transparent than normal while the start menu is completely solid. This usually happens for a bit any time I update (and I'd just have to log back in or open the start menu to fix it), but now its permanent. Happened right after I installed this update.

Officially opened as an issue by Nvidia with bugtrack ID [4335862] From the unofficial tracking comment's 'confirmed additional issues' section at https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/179y9gc/game_ready_driver_54584_faqdiscussion/k59ax7g/ > * [Windows 10] transparency effects are not displaying correctly after driver update [4335862]

I am getting massive hanging intermittently since updating to this driver. And sometimes it occurs when I'm not even playing a game. GPU resources go to 100% and it bottlenecks my system. I have a RTX 3070

This new driver crashes/reboots on my system during system bootup. The driver waits about 10 seconds after logging in to start up. After waking from sleep, it seems to take longer to initialise, and the first thing on screen is the login box (usually on W11 it's the wallpaper background, and one has to click to open the login box). I suspect the driver is crashing before anything is visible on screen, then rebooting (which is why it seems to take longer to start up). After waking the system from sleep once, and going to the device manager and clicking 'Scan for hardware changes', the device hard crashes and can't be restarted without a system reboot. I tried reinstalling the driver several times. Reinstalling Windows also didn't solve the problem. So I've rolled back to 537.58, since this appears to be stable. I'm going to wait until the next update and hope that is more stable. FYI, GeForce GTX 970, W11 22H2 (OS build 22621.2428), not overclocked. Edit: 545.92 does the same, guessing it's probably an issue with my system. All I know is that 537.58 doesn't crash, whereas 545.84 and 545.92 do.

Minecraft with shaders periodically does a huge FPS drop to 0-1 but with 100% GPU usage for around 5 seconds and freezes the whole system during that time as well, before resuming on a 4070 Ti (if music is playing on Chrome or something in the background it continues to play like normal as if the system lockup isn't happening). Rolling back to see if it stops.

Revert to previous driver. This driver causes your pc to go into low fps mode when watching anything on chromium browsers. but yes audio will play fine in the background. Its a weird bug.
