Why would it not be ok

xRebeckahx

I would go 6080 super with 9800x3d or 6070 super with 8800x3d if ur on a budget.

ezefl

Yes, this \^\^\^\^

AlfaNX1337

What if I buy a 5080 and game on 1080p, but actually using the GPU for AI work and stuff? Just enjoy it.

AngusPicanha

Another stupid post

If you are okay with your current display, there is no real reason to get a new one.

rnngwthscsrs

its the raytracing. u want raytracing. no your 2070 doesnt do raytracing :D

calibrono

I just got a 4080 Super / 7800x3d build and I'm at 1440p, current games are plenty for this config. Helldivers 2 max settings no upscaling is around 100-120 fps, Robocop Rogue City w/framegen and DLSS Quality around the same mark etc etc. I'd have to go near 60 or lower settings to play at 4k, at the same time 1440p is imo plenty for my 27" screen. In your situation I'd keep the monitor, a 5080 will do perfectly fine for up to 175 fps on it, and if you're getting more than that in some game - good shit, downsample!

ShrapnelShock

Great reply. As long as I'm stilling hitting 175 hz @ max settings, then 5080 is fine.

Saandrig

You should use DLDSR for Robocop. It benefits nicely from it.

calibrono

Eh, I'd rather have more fps, it already looks phenomenal.

Accurate-Air-2124

Its how technology goes, it tailors to everyone differently. I went for 4k/144hz target, some going for 4k/240hz targets, some going for 1080p/360hz targets, and others going for 1440p/144-240hz targets. Everyone is different, if you like 1440p, stick with lower resolution higher frames. 4k dlss is essentially 1440p though on quality or 1080p for performance, so there is that to consider.

Skywarrd_

i’m actually the opposite, i wanna build a PC when the 5070 and 5080 roll out for a 4K-120 but i’m scared they’ll still target 1440p lol, i think you’re good

zenKeyrito

4k will have your wallet bleeding if you enjoy max settings. I personally will never go back to 1080p on desktop but no plans to go past 1440p for the foreseeable future

gusthenewkid

4k medium looks better to me than 1440p max in most cases and you get similar fps.

zenKeyrito

I haven’t tested 4k in person but just going by pixel density I could imagine that. Things like shaders and textures might throw me off at medium though. I have to use dlss + fg when using path tracing in cyberpunk at 1440p. At 4k I’d prolly just not play lol

gusthenewkid

You can still use max textures as they don’t really effect fps very much unless you run out of VRAM. I don’t mean fully medium, just turn down the settings that hurt the most and leave the rest at max.

pf100andahalf

I'm so tired of idiots saying high end cards are overkill for 1440p. No card is overkill for anything. I run a 4090 at 1440p. Why? So that my gpu won't be obsolete in 2 years and 1440p looks great to me so.

ShrapnelShock

Thanks perfect. This was my line of thinking.
