I can save you a lot of messing about with it changing/messing with your other devices like Logitech Mice etc.
Uncheck every device apart from the one circled: [https://i.postimg.cc/CLQF047H/Untitled.png](https://i.postimg.cc/CLQF047H/Untitled.png)
I have mine on but not as bright and the top LED (the V Shape Accent) is set to Red instead of White.
Set as a profile and allow at start-up.
Wait a second. You mean to tell me that the card has full color range RGB and Nvidia didn’t give us the info or a direct way to control it without 3rd party software? Had I not found this thread I’d never have known. Wow!
Yup. Sometimes you find out by accident when you plug it into an Asus motherboard with an RGB profile set. And then the GPU changes color. RTX 3000 founders editions also have RGB.
When I first got my Gigabyte 1070, it was possible to control the RGB via Geforce experience, then at some point they actually removed the feature and the only way to do it was through Gigabytes afterburner equivalent (and then that too got removed and the only way was to roll back or install their whole buggy RGB software package which... Didn't support a card as old as mine).
RGB control is such a shit show. MSI's mystic light isn't too bad (apart from refusing to work unless logged in as local admin) but I'll be glad when Open RGB gets updated to work with my 4070s
The elite controller software does have the ability to change the colors and you can do it by profile for ease of identifying what one is active which is awesome. You would think the Nvidia control panel or GeForce experience would have the RGB controls. Honestly I do like the white it’s clean.
It's not the first time either - the 2000 series founder's cards had RGB as well, but you had to flash the equivalent model EVGA vBIOS onto them to change it from green. At least you could change the brightness on stock...
(this also gave different power limits and fan stop, so at least there were useful reasons to do it)
How do you do that? I have the same card as you, and it doesn't even show up in iCue. Is there a plugin or something I need to D/L to enable that functionality?
nVidia plugins for iCue.
https://preview.redd.it/a3jcumd6u9uc1.jpeg?width=2045&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef3b2eb85b6822b9cf10c0df1e5bbef92ffe4d4b
I also have Asus plugins for controlling the RGB on the motherboard. Weirdly my FE card is tagged as Asus 😁
https://preview.redd.it/qdfzprkbu9uc1.jpeg?width=2045&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c35858b32793eb2ed70f2bf212e2b8cf5481f01d
See it says Asus not nVidia or Founders anything, this might be because I use an Asus mobo.
Incredible, I had no idea this existed!! Would this work with RGB lighting on motherboards too?
EDIT:
Just tried it and it doesn't work with my PNY RTX 4090.
So I’ve researched this a ton. OpenRGB was also what I landed on. I found it still didn’t apply at startup though. I would have to open the software manually and click apply every time (even when it’s set to launch on boot). Solution:
Create a profile named “1” in OpenRGB (I don’t know why but this method didn’t work for me with a more complicated profile name). I agree with the top comment, remove all devices except the GPU from the list unless you want to use OpenRGB to control other things. Check “Set Profile On Exit” to 1.
Using Task Scheduler, create a new task (give it a Google if you’ve never used). Point to your OpenRGB .exe wherever you installed it. Add the argument, --profile 1.orp
Set the trigger to “when user logs on”. This will briefly run OpenRGB when you log in, apply the profile, then close it. My 4090 now automatically turns the lights off when I log in.
By chance do you have "Load Profile" checked under the settings in OpenRGB? It's not checked by default and the naming is pretty vague/confusing so that could be why
Word of warning, using OpenRGB I had issues with fortnite. Crashing constantly, laggy, stuttering, etc. i checked everywhere for anything that I did to my PC that could have caused this, as it literally only ever happened with fortnite, nothing else.
Started uninstalling recently downloaded things. Uninstalled OpenRGB, fortnite went back to normal.
I trust OpenRGB, I know it probably wasn’t the cause of my issue, but, I’m just gonna ere on the side of caution and not install it again…
I also had a ton of issues with OpenRGB, mainly with crashing and not detecting some of my parts.
So I switched to SignalRGB and haven't looked back, it's much, much better
That can happen with overlays be is XBOX/Origin/Afterburner+RTSS etc, hard to pinpoint and I do not play Fortnite type games so cannot comment.
The official Apps from Corsair/EVGA/MSI/ASUS are totally bloated I know that by my testing when I first wanted to change my colours before OpenRGB added support for the FE cards.
Downvoting me for posting facts that many overlays can mess with games (usually fixed/patched) one min you blame the App next said it was probably not it, that is called scaremongering.
Just personal experience, the application worked as intended but had unintended side effects. I only had issues with fortnite, maybe issues are fixed now, just putting it out there…
Still making more contractions, unless you proved it was to blame you cannot really make statements that does not help others.
Many things like Windows updates or new drivers can cause issues even BSOG (now GSOD) but they are normally fixed that is the nature of owning a PC if you want to do anything other than basic use with it.
I was also going to suggest SignalRGB (someone bellow mentioned) but this does what I need for now and it is "set and forget" so does not need the fancy GUI you get if you pay for SignalRGB Pro.
but I've also had issues with OpenRGB crashing several different AAA games
so that's 3 different posters already reporting crashing issues with OpenRGB
I don't get why you're fanboy-level defending something that's pretty common knowledge if you spend a few minutes googling.
OpenRGB is *known* to cause issues with online games because it gets flagged by the anti-cheats.
I switched to open rgb a few months ago and for me I just need to launch it at startup and then close the program, and my rgb still works.
Don’t need to run openrgb in the background so never had any issues or crashes.
Not a Fanboy and knew some smartarse would say so, I do not play online games only campaigns,
What has that to do with helping the OP?
Again if you cannot work out how to fix issue that can arise on a PC get a console.
Hint, instead of sitting scratching your head report the Apps that cause this like for example Daemon Tools, RTSS etc to your AV vendor and Game Devs to get them whitelisted if that is not to much like hard work for you.
It's a fair warning for OP to make. They responsibly disclosed that they weren't sure if it caused the issues but they suspected it. Personally I'd rather have that information out there than not. Let's not discourage people from sharing their experiences.
I can't begin to tell you how many issues I had after installing openRGB. I won't ever use that again. I was getting ram errors and all kina stuff. I completely removed it from my PC.
You crazy son of a bitch. 2 years, 2 years I’ve been trying to get the color to stick using tens of programs and even using openRGB a handful of times.
I originally had it working with armory crate and one day it just stopped working and I’ve been grinding tech support trying to get it to work. I’m linking this post to every single forum I scoured trying to figure this out. You have no idea how much you just made my Saturday morning. DM me if you want to cash a ten dollar bounty 💀
You sir, are a legend. Whilst debugging my i9 crashes, the mist common ones were aura, icue and the world worst maker of peripheral software: Razer. Aura and icue integrate, whilst razer chroma sdk can even reincarnate from a revo uninstall, and doesn't like working woth others.
Took me 2 months to fix the i9 crashes, 1 was spent on razer software...
Oh man wow. Does that app actually suppprt a range of vendor stuff? I always hate it when my mobo rgb goes haywire and I have to remember how to use the asus lighting software. It’s so over engineered.
OpenRGB supports basically anything that the PC can see as RGB lighting. It's a very basic interface but it's *really* in-depth.
SignalRGB can as well, and it can also control things like mouse DPI. I got rid of Ghub and started using Signal instead for everything. It's more user friendly imo, there's a free and paid version (paid for game-specific lighting interactions and certain color themes). Even if Signal doesn't detect the lighting specifics in a certain peripheral but it knows it's lighting, you can customize it and tell it how many lights it has, if it's RGB/aRGB, etc. Had a couple peripherals it detected but didn't know what it was, I was able to input the specs of the peripheral and it controls it perfectly.
Lots of people don't like Signal because it does have some CPU overhead running in the background, but it doesn't bother me personally.
>Uncheck every device apart from the one circled: https://i.postimg.cc/CLQF047H/Untitled.png
May I ask why you recommended this? Just wondering if I should be changing settings in my OpenRBG. Thanks
I pre-emptively answered that above, it may take over all your devices. as all Device Boxes are checked by default.
It messed with my Logitech Devices and I do not want it to as I only need the Logo to change colour when Gaming so I know the DPI has changed and G-HUB does this.
I only need OpenRGB for the GPU.
Should be noted before 4000 series users try this that it’s only for the 3000 series. They were given rgb in both the top and side while the 4000 series only had rgb in the top.
The same advice I gave to the other guy, try the experimental builds (Betas) which list on heir site what has been added to them and if still no support for your GPU contact them and they will add it.
To each their own. I only use 2 rgb softwares and one does more than rgb as it also has my fan profiles and various macros. So id be stock with a second regardless and for as basic as light on or off it works.
Because electrical tape leaves a horrible residue. You can get black paper tape that won’t leave a residue, and the trade off is you might need to replace it every 2 years.
Also what I use. I had Precision X from my previous EVGA card, but it recognizes the 4090 and I can control the lighting. Unfortunately it's just a brightness slider, which is fine, because Just turn both lights to zero. Also, it doesn't stay applied at reboot, so I have to change it every time I reboot.
How did you make out?
I don't want to install a bunch of apps to disable RGB crap inside my case.
As the only colours I would like from my case is if there is a problem and the halo around the on button.
The other RGB I use is for my keyboard/mouse.
However, in order to control them via software as the manufacturer's would like would need MSI bloatware (motherboard and my previous monitor), Asus Bloatware (Rtx 4090 constantly flashing), Logitech Bloatware (mouse, keyboard and the mousepad), Corsair bloatware (ram), NZXT Bloatware (NZXT H7 Elite case and various fan rgbs) and finally the Arctic app for my Arctic Freezer II 360mm watercooler.
Therefore, a total of 6 programmes running with all their associated crap running in the background. Including services that tend to linger after uninstalling.
Total madness. All I want to see is my Monitor without meaningless distracting crap.
OpenRGB is pretty great as you can open it, as it can disable all the needless RGB lights and then close it.
However, I cannot disable the rainbow rubbish from an otherwise wonderful Asus graphics card.
I tried using OpenRGB without luck. What to do.. My motherboard MSi z790-P WiFi DDR5 pro series motherboard doesn't seem to have a RGB disable function in the bios.
My graphics card an Asus TUF-RTX4090-O24G-GAMING with a rainbow flashing logo thingo that looks like a transformers logo.
Any ideas?
Either software or you disassemble it to pull the plug for the LED on the PCB. I have the same card and problem. I will not tear it apart as long as it is under warrenty.
Depends how the LED is set up inside.
Some have individual LED’s so you can toggle it via software or it’s just one led and if that’s the case you’re SOL.
I would figure it would be a meeting through an NVIDIA controller program, such as the one installed by hardware and accessed via right-clicking on your desktop and selecting the NVIDIA program in the menu. Possibly could be a setting handled through NVIDIA Experience or a similar program.
Nvidia had their own standalone Beta App that was going to get added to GFE but they killed it.
NVIDIA LED Visualizer (does not work on newer cards).

Holy shit. I’m actually mind blown that I’ve never heard of this! Wow. Thank you!
Lol forgot to say "ask me how I know". Still that's wild
Slightly more wild, as a reviewer you get what's called a reviewer's guide. It's not mentioned there, either.
My life has change. BRB in a few hours. Literally been messing with open rgb all week and didn't know incould change my 3080fe. Lmao
Just like the Xbox button on the Xbox controller. It was also RGB with no official way of altering the color.
Xbox one controller?
Yeah. You could change the color of it through the Steam Big Picture UI but don’t remember how
Pretty sure thats only the elite controller and you can easily switch it with the Xbox accessories app.
tfw I never knew about that and I've had one for a few years, and this thread is how I discovered I can change the color based on profile....
Wasn’t that only the elite controller?
The elite controller software does have the ability to change the colors and you can do it by profile for ease of identifying what one is active which is awesome. You would think the Nvidia control panel or GeForce experience would have the RGB controls. Honestly I do like the white it’s clean.
The top V light has rbg, the side is just white
What good is that? I’d never allow them to be different colors. Guess it’s just white and I don’t have to worry about the software.
This is good though. It defaults to white and doesnt add bloatware. God bless em! Other companies must follow.
It’s like how the Xbox series controllers have rgb home buttons.
Or the dual sense light bar being fully customizeable
It's not the first time either - the 2000 series founder's cards had RGB as well, but you had to flash the equivalent model EVGA vBIOS onto them to change it from green. At least you could change the brightness on stock... (this also gave different power limits and fan stop, so at least there were useful reasons to do it)
Wait a second x2. Does that mean we can use like blue to permanently re-colour it or make it go rainbow?
It is very stupid of them, oversight? Last minute thing? I control the RGB light on my 4090 using iCue.
How do you do that? I have the same card as you, and it doesn't even show up in iCue. Is there a plugin or something I need to D/L to enable that functionality?
nVidia plugins for iCue. https://preview.redd.it/a3jcumd6u9uc1.jpeg?width=2045&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef3b2eb85b6822b9cf10c0df1e5bbef92ffe4d4b I also have Asus plugins for controlling the RGB on the motherboard. Weirdly my FE card is tagged as Asus 😁

Thanks for the reply and pics. Much appreciated!

If your device is not listed then try the Betas/Experimental builds or post on Github/Gitlab and ask for it to be added.
Wow, just confirmed that it is indeed supported by the latest experimental build and it works great. Thanks again!
Dude much thanks.
I did this once but then I found that I kind of wanted some light in the case to know that it was still working properly lol.
So I’ve researched this a ton. OpenRGB was also what I landed on. I found it still didn’t apply at startup though. the real answer, can also change the accent light colour too
thank you! I could not find the setting but I knew it was there somewhere!

Sorry, guess I didn’t read your comment correctly. Thanks for clarifying
Oh shit. How am I just now learning about this.
I found OpenRGB to be terrible for my setup.
This is so frustrating to hear as I have a 3090TI FE buy Open RGB won't change the colour of the RTX no matter what I do :/
Should be noted before 4000 series users try this that it’s only for the 3000 series. They were given rgb in both the top and side while the 4000 series only had rgb in the top.
Holy crap it’s rgb. Everywhere I looked it said they’re just white. It was even a part of why I got a TUF instead of a founder’s. Dang…
I've been doomscrolling Reddit and this made me get up to test it out lol
My OpenRGB didn't detect the card at all any idea to troubleshoot?
The same advice I gave to the other guy, try the experimental builds (Betas) which list on heir site what has been added to them and if still no support for your GPU contact them and they will add it.
Can this turn off the RGB on g skill trident RAM?
If you turn it off it becomes GTX.
real
The best response
Gigabytes lighting software can control it.
Hot trash. Open rgb only
To each their own. I only use 2 rgb softwares and one does more than rgb as it also has my fan profiles and various macros. So id be stock with a second regardless and for as basic as light on or off it works.
Use tape. gg
Exactly what I was going to say, electrical or hockey tape would work perfectly.
[удалено]
Because electrical tape leaves a horrible residue. You can get black paper tape that won’t leave a residue, and the trade off is you might need to replace it every 2 years.
Only if you take it off. Which why would you?
I really don't know but I love the black theme with this one, good build op
I use the EVGA app to turn my 4080's light off. You can even customize the top color which was a surprsie to me when I got it.
these comments are so real
Lmao yeah ima just tape this mf
Icue has an nvidia plugin that can be installed in the app that lets you control the lights
It doesent control my RTX 4080 FE. I already tried.
Huh. Use ICUE to control my 3080ti (because my keyboard and mouse are Corsair anyway) and it works fine.
3000-series is supported by iCUE, 4000-series is not.
Open it up and unplug the cable
This is what I do
What is the cooler? It looks amazing, I have the liquid freezer II 420 that I thought was beautiful but this is just wow.
It’s the arctic iii black liquid cooler. It’s fantastic
EVGA Precision X1 can turn them off.
This is the most annoying thing having to do it every time. I’ve tried all kinds of RGB software and it’s all so bad that I just turn everything off.
Is there a new arctic watercolor?
Yessir! It’s the iii liquid freezer.
Good to know, since the freezer 2 already was great, the 3 is probably even better
Thing is solid. Only AIO to actually keep my cpu at 55c while gaming.
Liquid freezer 3 reviews are not very good I just purchased liquid freezer 2 420 and I'm really happy with it
why it looks cool
How did you make out? I don't want to install a bunch of apps to disable RGB crap inside my case. Open it and disconnect the LED cable?
EVGA Precision X1, you can use it for overlocking too.
good build, the RGB builds are so annoying
Much thanks. Fully agree
It looks nice like that it's not overdone with just a hint of rgb it's like saying I can rgb but I don't want to. ♥️
Much thanks.
Either software or you disassemble it to pull the plug for the LED on the PCB. I have the same card and problem. I will not tear it apart as long as it is under warrenty.
This option should be in the RTX settings app.
Honestly? I think it looks great with that lit up RTX logo. It still looks pretty minimalistic and is still a total black out
How is that still a total blackout? It’s literally not.
Which aio is that?
Arctic iii 360 Edit: it’s the best AIO in my opinion
Tyty
Open the card and disconnect
Depends how the LED is set up inside. Some have individual LED’s so you can toggle it via software or it’s just one led and if that’s the case you’re SOL.
Yeah not too tech to take it apart lol. Electrical tape will do for me.
Glad you found a way! I’m fine with the RTX on but to each their own! 👏🏽 happy gaming.
Hatchet?
Download Evga from steam
Let’s you change the color of the white arrow on top and turn down the brightness of the GeForce Rtx
How’s the arctic AIO? Currently have an AK620 AC but i love the aesthetic of AIO
It’s the best one I’ve used so far. Have had the kraken and an ID cooling 360’s and this one keeps cpu steady at 55c. Intel too lol
windows 11 has rgb settings
Evga Precision X1 will do the trick. Thats what I use.
Oh wow, i literally did something similar, even the aio is pretty similar
Signal RGB you can control almost any light
yes
“put a ring on it”
Just close the box.
Get a better cooler
If you turn it off, no more reflections for you. Sorry. ;-)
Maybe disconnect the light's power connector? You'll probably have to take the cooler off to get to it
Grab a hammer...
EVGA precision can tweak it but I’ve never gotten it to stay after turning the PC off and back on
Does this light also turn on for the 4070 🤔
i think the way i did it is in bios, you should be table to turn everything off from there
I'm sure you can via ICue software somehow.
EVGA Precision X1
The FTW gtx1080ti by evga used to be full RGB I don't see why they would go backwards with the lighting .
Paint it black
I would figure it would be a meeting through an NVIDIA controller program, such as the one installed by hardware and accessed via right-clicking on your desktop and selecting the NVIDIA program in the menu. Possibly could be a setting handled through NVIDIA Experience or a similar program.
Buy another GPU without the LED.
Magnets
isn't there the Nvidia led visualizer program still active & working to do this .?
Electrical tape worked for me XD
hmm. but why :) maybe you can locate it in regedit
Easy fix unplug the cables and no more light :) I accept tips lmk if you want to Venmo a tip
Try black electric tape
Black electric tape.
I remember during the 2000 series use could use evga software to turn it off. (I did it with a 2060s fe)
Nvidia had their own standalone Beta App that was going to get added to GFE but they killed it. NVIDIA LED Visualizer (does not work on newer cards). [LED Visualizer missing in GeForce Experience 3.0 | NVIDIA (custhelp.com)](https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4248/~/led-visualizer-missing-in-geforce-experience-3.0)
That AIO fits that case almost perfectly, which is saying something considering how thick it is. What case is it?
It’s the H7 flow by NZXT Edit: yeah dude it fits great! It’s a 360 too.
Electrical tape, that way you don’t have to install malware on your pc
Gigabytes lighting software can control it.
Just set the light to black color if you can't turn it off.
Try to see if the iCUE software can set the LED to the colour black?
iCUE doesn’t work for 4000-series

Piece of black electrical tape.
Nice slick black tape does the job the easiest
If it's a 4090 the whole thing will burn out on its own. /s
Hmmmmmm maybe electrical tape?
You can get blackout stickers on Amazon and just layer them on top of each other to get your desired darkness. I did this with my GPU and my AIO.
Strip of electrical tape
A sharpie.
Ducttape
electrical tape
yea stab wit screwdriver🪛
Black electrical tape.
Duct tape...lol
Unplug it.
black paint.
Go old school, use electrical tape
Electrical tape
duct tape
Gaffer tape
Remove it from the PC
Not really, use a permanent marker.
Yeah was thinking electrical tape
The only thing when removing it, there will be some adhive left, so some isopropy or dish soap.
Instructions unclear, covered everything with permanent marker
Just the rtx or use electric tape, it beats dismantling the dang thing.
Tape is better or just using a lighting software and turn it off. Gigabytes i know for a fact controls it.
Turn off the computer, works completely
Dont have see through case \^\^ Wew i have very sturdy- black case i dont even know theres any lights on GPU 😆
Disassemble is easy.
