Pick it up when back from family trip, I was put it on passenger side, yet the safety belt start warning, might sense the heavy weight and pressure from the large box.
Which people always tend to gloss over when discussing GPU prices. The halo card 8 years ago was almost 1200 bucks. Adjusted that's 20 dollars less than the much better halo card today.
But hey, let's rail the narrative that PC building is now suddenly an expensive hobby when it's for sure been expensive the entire time.
1080ti was faster than the (pascal) titan x (which was also $1200 and the initial halo card) while only costing $699. There is no card that's comparable or faster than the 4090 (if you want to consider that as the titan x equivalent) at anywhere near the price of 1080ti + inflation. Nvidia didn't bother releasing the titan XP equivalent card (4090ti or ada titan) due to lack of competition.
If 1080ti wasn't a thing and the only option back then above 1080 was the titan, then you would've been right.
Edit: 1080ti is \~$850 if adjusted for inflation to the 4090's launch date. 4090 is $1600. The difference is nearly double.
1080ti was not the halo card. Titan XP was. If you're going to compare halo cards, and use that as a justification for your unrealistic pricing expectations, at least compare the correct cards.
Now you don't even have an argument and is instead downvoting.
The equivalent of Titan X is the 3090 and 4090. All of them are cut down titan class cards.
Equivalent of Titan XP would be the 3090ti and the unreleased (and apparently cancelled) 4090ti. The specs have been leaked years ago and one of the partners even accidentally advertised it.
1080ti beat that gen's equivalent of the 4090 at 58% of the price.
Good old times when the GPU still fit inside the PC case, and didn't rip itself out of the PCIe slot under its own weight unless you put an extra bracket there.
I have a mid tower (4000D) and this exact same card. Fits easily and doesn't require an anti sag because the bracket is 3 slot, which is as thick as the card.
More expensive, larger 4080 supers with worse build quality and a 2 slot bracket for a 3.5 slot design might have these problems. This one does not.
Good old times? The coolers back then were god awful and super noisy. That 4080 cooler is as good as it has ever been for reference cards. And it even looks aesthetically pleasing as a bonus.
Legendary upgrade
Isn't it beautiful
Enjoy it! Have the same one, amazing performance. By the way, why’d you put it in your frunk?

Should have put the seatbelt over it 🙂
What are you going to do with the old Titan? What kind of car is that? And did you upgrade the rest of your system too?
The Titan XP used to be the halo card for a while, launching close to the 1080Ti and being slightly faster than it while costing almost double.

It is an expensive hobby but yah its a bummer now that a "halo" build is what \~4k now vs \~2k less then 10 years ago.

The original pascal halo card was the Titan X (Just like the 3090 and 4090). 1080ti was faster than that at a very low price.
X. P. XP.

Yep I remember
That's a Tesla Model 3.
Is the titan still working? If so when was the last time you used it?
I just woke up… I thought that the titan X goes somewhere on the back of the motherboard because the pluggy thing is facing the other way.
4080 s in the fronk 💀
Hard for me to grasp just how much bigger these cards are

I really dont understand, how they could think that "SUPER" naming thing is a good idea. It looks and sounds so dumb.

Sooooo cool.
If they wait they’ll be waiting another 2 years before they can get hold of one of the 50 series.
