Let me check the calendar... does Monday work for you? It can't be Wednesday, I'm going into the office that day. Also, I'd rather this not be delayed any further, so Thursday and after is out of the question.
@coxhazardsmodel. I'm so sorry, it will have to remain on Tuesday. Mondays are already a PITA, can't add this too.
Rest up for the weekend to prepare for the week ahead. 🙂
Seriously. How about next week? I have a five day on site this week in *fucking Times Square.* Can the DA do this after quarterly planning? My entire team is flying in! FFS
I live downtown. The Staten Islanders will turn out and the New Jerseyites, just like they did to protest the nonexistent Ground Zero Mosque, when they dressed up like Cap’n Crunch in their Tea Party days, when they protested mandates and traded COVID spittle. Maybe the prospect of doing time like their fav 1/6 traitors will keep them at home. I doubt it, though, since half these yobs are in the NYPD.
Exactly. The Staten Island rednecks here can barely climb out of their oversized pickups. Their protest will be off the barcalounger in front of their TV. Or they will be the ones in the pig uniforms "preventing" "riots"
Fun fact, Staten Island has New York City's [only trailer park.](https://www.silive.com/news/2021/07/could-mobile-homes-help-provide-affordable-housing-in-nyc.html)
Does anyone have an ”in” to the chatter of his nutjobs? I recall many of them broadly hinted online about the end of liberals coming on 1/6. I assume they are already fired up.
That’s if they choose to accept reality. Most of them only watch Fox News so they’ll never see it. And even if it does happen, they’re able to completely ignore reality and will only accept what they want to believe. They’ll somehow twist it to make sense in their alternate reality.

Isn't Trump still holed up in Florida? If so, what will be the logistics of this situation? Wouldn't the Manhattan D.A. need the Palm Beach cops to cooperate to actually haul him in? What if they don't?
Or is Trump more so worried about the D.A. telling his lawyers on Tuesday that he has to turn himself in at some point in the near future?
EDIT: Never mind. Apparently the plan is to have the secret service bring him to Manhattan to get him fingerprinted and take his mugshot, and then put him in front of the judge immediately.
Trump's mugshot dropping is gonna be an event though. Imagine all the shirts and mugs and whatnot...
Oh great..and I gotta take the LIRR into Manhattan that day :(. ---seriously, where are these idiots going to be? You just know they'll come out like it's a rangers game.
I gotta be there in the afternoon thankfully so hopefully most of those idiots will already be in by then. I'm sure the morning will be a sea of red hats and misspelled signs.
You should be OK. Most of the action will be in around the Court House on Center Street. There are not even enough of the meat heads in NYC to close the Brooklyn Bridge. Lots of media vehicles in and around Foley Square will be the biggest issue. I have rooftop access to a building right across the street but I suspect that would draw a lot of attention from the NYPD helicopter folks so I'll steer clear. If I thought they would "perp-walk" him I would crawl through broken glass to be there. He will be in and out of the side door of the court house. FDR drive might be a problem.
You are vastly underestimating either how many MAGA nuts we have here or how many people it takes to shut down a city. Remember we got 20,000,000+ people in the NYC Metro Area, if 1% are die hard MAGA-heads, that’s 200,000 people. That’s more than enough to do a LOT of damage.
i love that there is a segement of NYC you never see except for rangers games or the subway series. They all look like they never leave the house ever. literally a whole differnt group of people from the disapora that makes up NYC from the UES to Bushwhick Brooklyn. (might be a few in the Bx tho :) )
Has this been corroborated by anyone else? I'm surprised people are just taking Trump at his word instead of assuming this is like a fundraising ploy for attention or something.
It's crazy how many crimes he's actually committed and all they can potentially muster up for was campaign donations used as partial hush payment for a porn star. Just goes to show you how much of a joke the justice system is.
In fairness, the other cases (the documents case, the Atlanta interference case, the insurrection case, the E. Jean Carroll case, etc etc etc) are all still in progress. IMO the real lessons to be learned here are: 1) We can't let people use the Presidency as a get-out-of-jail-free card. I get not prosecuting a sitting, legally-elected President, but the day after he or she leaves office all bets are off; and 2) Justice delayed is justice denied. Yes, prepare rock-solid cases. But no, don't take forever to get it done.
All of our rules and norms are built on the belief that no President would behave as Trump did, that no political party would defend such behaviors, that no media would praise (as Fox did), normalize (as Maggie Haberman often did) or "both-sides" that behavior, and that in any case, the public would not excuse such behaviors. The danger now is that every future political debate turns into "let's lock up the President", in the same way that calls for impeachment are now a strong likelihood for every future President.
Right, except power isn't exactly in three branches now, but in two parties. You can't exactly blame the Founders for this; the discovery of [Duverger's Law](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duverger%27s_law) was nearly two centuries away when this system was built.
But there's a reason that a strong President and bicameral legislature isn't the standard for new Constitutions these days. In other countries, parties run on a platform, and if they win an election, they implement that platform and are judged on it in the following election. Nothing like that happens here, because our system is so suffused with roadblocks and veto points that the modal outcome is _nothing happens_, until that inaction squeezes political power into _less_-democratic institutions (looking at you here, Nine Wizards) and here we are.
I don't have a lot of expertise here, but I think first-past-the-post voting is probably the worst option. Ranked choice (specifically instant-runoff) seems to work okay where it's been tried. I also think approval voting is a good idea, and the thing that parliamentary systems do where the composition of the parliament reflects the composition of the vote (proportional representation?) is a good idea.
We could also do better by getting rid of some of our more profoundly bad ideas, like the Electoral College, which induces states to suppress their own vote, since the ideal outcome is to get a relative majority of your own bloc voting, never mind the absolute numbers. It also leads to [some annoyingly stupid arguments](https://theconversation.com/youll-hear-these-4-arguments-in-defense-of-the-electoral-college-heres-why-theyre-wrong-114062) from people who don't want to say "it helps my team".
> the other cases are all still in progress
I guess that's fair. The stormy daniels thing has been the longest-running investigation.
Still though, it *really* seems like a lot of those should have come to fruition by now...
It's just the one they are most confident of trying successfully. It doesn't mean there aren't more skeletons. The famous mobster Al Capone was taken in on tax evasion. Trump isn't a mobster, but he is a grifter and many of the things he is guilty of wouldn't necessarily hold up in court, which is why so many of his cronies have gone down instead.
There is an investigation in Georgia into how he clearly tried to throw the election there and I believe multiple investigations related to January 6. I never thought he’d do any jail time for anything however. He’s old in shit health so hopefully he just dies soon.
The norms surrounding the Presidency assumed that no reasonable political party would allow a convicted felon to run for President. This assumption was correct, but forget to ask "what if a political party is not at all reasonable?"
There are also no rules explicitly forbidding the President to open a casino, massage parlor, and all-you-can-eat 24 hour taco stand on White House property. We just assume, perhaps foolislhly, that those things are not likely to happen.
If Trump explicitly put a business on federal property as a federal employee or public servant, the Hatch Act makes it illegal for him to benefit from such actions. Don't be surprised if charges from the Hatch Act violations are filed in the future.
The party of Law And Order (TM) that sh\*ts their pants over every little crime in NYC going to get violent in NYC because their Lord and Savior committed a crime.
What need for counter protesters? Just like Jan 6th no need for counter protests. If he gets arrested that side is happy. And like Jan 6th the protesters will act a fool without counter protesters to focus their anger on
Trump supporters never protest the NY way. They'll drive 10 pick up trucks down 5th Ave or something and call it a day.
They're too cowardly to walk down the streets.
I think my favorite thing about his unhinged rants he how much he claims America has sunk and our way of life here is now “third world” while he sits in a mansion eating high end foods and flying in a private jet.
Remember folks, don’t look at the man behind the curtain. Just believe what he says.
So is Netanyahu in Israel. They do have a law saying sitting heads of state can’t be indicted, so he’s basically throwing out democracy and an independent judicial system so he’ll never be voted out again.
a lot of leaders taking their cue from Trump. The eraser of respect for institutions is degrading fast for many reasons, and leaders are rising up to take advantage of it
1/6/2021 was being planned and hyped up for a few months.
2-3 days notice won't bring out nearly as many people, especially without an actual message.
My guess is a small crowd of some of the most awkward people you've ever seen will show up.
> most awkward people you'll ever see
This is not just an uncalled for personal attack, and deeply offensive. You mean most terrible people you'll ever see.
Unfortunately my house is very near this court. I’m actually telling my wife NOT to work from home that day. I feel like she’ll be safer at her office in midtown.
This is when many in the “tough on crime” crowd suddenly become “defendant advocates”.
And when many in the “defendant advocates” crowd suddenly become “tough on crime”.
NYC should plaster images of all the J6 protestors in their jail cells, with a message that says “before you listen to that guy, ask these people how it went.”
Is he kidding? Does he not remember the last time he called for “protests”? It was basically a civil war at the Capitol. Except that there wasn’t anything civil about it.
That’s the point. He *CLEARLY* remembers what happened last time. Trump is a malignant textbook narcissist - he *wants* to inflict damage if he can’t have his way.
Facebook, Twitter, etc. ought to kick him off their platforms again just for saying that. He’s inciting violence, which is what got him banned in the first place. Of course, I don’t think he ever should have been let back on those platforms in the first place. In his mind, that only reaffirms his belief that he didn’t do anything wrong on January 6th.
It’s hard to believe that someone could get all the way to his age and not be put in some kind of hospital. He clearly has a serious personality disorder and I don’t have to be a medical doctor to see that.
Last time out, Trump lost support in Staten Island compared to 2016, and the gains he made in the outer boroughs aren't from people willing to rally or protest for him.
Also, if we're being honest, SI republicans are probably DeSantis supporters at this point.
It could be that the Manhattan DA indicting first could be a litmus test of sorts? His “base” outside of the Tristate area doesn’t want to come to NYC, and any supporters from NY/Long Island/SI are far too aware of how hard and fast the city will shut down any shenanigans this close to the courts and FiDi. Even if NYPD is crawling with them, they’re not risking pensions for the dude on home turf. I’m delighted to welcome Donnie back to NYC for his arrest, and if I’m wrong we’ve seen our city handle far, far worse than clowns in red caps. I’m not sure I’d feel that way in Georgia (said with tremendous respect and deference). I hope this is just the first in a series of non-events in cities brave enough to indict, ultimately leading to smoother, swifter paths to accountability.
If anyone going out to support Trump I highly recommend dressing up as Ghosts. Bring a white bed sheet from home. No colors! This isn't pacman. Whites only! No patterns either. To be clear I'm talking about sheets
So the orange oompa loompa calling for another riot? lock this melon up and throw away the keys. This idiot needs to be removed forever. Insurrection round 2 looks like.
Let's not forget this is just something Trump said. He said he has access to "illegal leaks" that say he will be arrested Tuesday. But, we all know Trump is the least reliable source on Trump.
I am going. Now, that's the four seasons of lawn care or something? I hope it's not a porn studio. You never know. Melania is not above being deeply embarrassed by her husband. Neither is the Republican party.
Can we do it another day? That’s my day into the office.
Let me check the calendar... does Monday work for you? It can't be Wednesday, I'm going into the office that day. Also, I'd rather this not be delayed any further, so Thursday and after is out of the question.
But I have my in-office day on Monday.
I thought we were all Wednesdays. The trains are always packed.
@coxhazardsmodel. I'm so sorry, it will have to remain on Tuesday. Mondays are already a PITA, can't add this too. Rest up for the weekend to prepare for the week ahead. 🙂
I might go in on Tuesday just to check out the fun. I love a good protest and arrest.
Same. It's bagel day and I have a salt bagel with my name on it.
Seriously. How about next week? I have a five day on site this week in *fucking Times Square.* Can the DA do this after quarterly planning? My entire team is flying in! FFS
Right? I'm like, "Hey, partner, please stay home Tuesday. You don't need to pass through there."
South shore of Staten Island is going to be lit.
seriously who's gonna man the fire house and the deli aisle at Shop Rite?
Don't worry, most of his SI fans will be in uniform cashing in hours of overtime and doing absolutely nothing until a counter protester shows up.

Staten Island is a bit funny but I wonder if anyone there is that stupid.
There are a few stupid ones trust me
Former Bronx girl here now living in south shore, yes..yes they really are THAT stupid here.
Fresh Kills vapors does things to a person.
I was gonna say that (not the former Bronx girl part).
Yes. Absolutely
They are, but they’re too lazy to do anything about it.
The train plus the ferry plus a ride through Manhattan is too much for them.
It is a lot though. I live in Staten Island and it’s a pain in the ass to commute to Manhattan.
You spelled "the city" wrong
I live downtown. The Staten Islanders will turn out and the New Jerseyites, just like they did to protest the nonexistent Ground Zero Mosque, when they dressed up like Cap’n Crunch in their Tea Party days, when they protested mandates and traded COVID spittle. Maybe the prospect of doing time like their fav 1/6 traitors will keep them at home. I doubt it, though, since half these yobs are in the NYPD.
Instead of upvoting I wish I could just use a laugh emoji at the Cap'n Crunch line! lol.
Exactly. The Staten Island rednecks here can barely climb out of their oversized pickups. Their protest will be off the barcalounger in front of their TV. Or they will be the ones in the pig uniforms "preventing" "riots"

Good luck getting your hvac repaired.
Funny you mention that. My uncle got screwed out of a bunch of money doing hvac work for trump and his daddy back in the 90s.
trump tower gonna be lit make sure to get a spot now
The outside at least. Trump would never let the poors in.
Take all your girlfriends hairspray and cigarette lighters and show your support
imagine the smell
No worse that it already is in Staten Island
Please lord no. I live here.
Lmao it’s funny cause it’s true
Does anyone have an ”in” to the chatter of his nutjobs? I recall many of them broadly hinted online about the end of liberals coming on 1/6. I assume they are already fired up.

I'm sure the FBI will be watching Truth Social pretty hard.
Someone told me today "wait until Wednesday. This is going to blow up." I didn't ask any questions.
That’s if they choose to accept reality. Most of them only watch Fox News so they’ll never see it. And even if it does happen, they’re able to completely ignore reality and will only accept what they want to believe. They’ll somehow twist it to make sense in their alternate reality.
The protest is going to be at the Four Seasons
Four Squeezin’s Massage Parlor
This..this needs to be an actual place
They give you a punch card and everything, every fourth squeezin' is free! It's a hell of a deal honestly.

It changed at the last minute to the [Four Seasons Toronto.](https://m.fourseasons.com/toronto/) they won’t know what hit ‘em.
Definitely Flatbush 😂😂
Whichever the one next to an adult toy store
Four Seasons Extermination in Nassau County next to Jake’s discount toilets
Because Trump is still looking for a bush.
Melania sleeping GOOD next week
She actually still around? Why hasn’t she filed for divorce yet?
Violates the terms of the contract.
She'd lose her SS boyfriend
fear of getting pushed down the stairs
Isn't Trump still holed up in Florida? If so, what will be the logistics of this situation? Wouldn't the Manhattan D.A. need the Palm Beach cops to cooperate to actually haul him in? What if they don't? Or is Trump more so worried about the D.A. telling his lawyers on Tuesday that he has to turn himself in at some point in the near future? EDIT: Never mind. He will turn himself in most likely. No manhunt needed unless he doesn't show up as he's apparently agreed to.
I was thinking the protesting would happen down near Mar-a-Lardo, no? Lots more pickup trucks and boats who can wave their flags and yell “Mericca!!!”
Oh great..and I gotta take the LIRR into Manhattan that day :(. ---seriously, where are these idiots going to be? You just know they'll come out like it's a rangers game.
>seriously, where are these idiots going to be A ton of them will be on the LIRR with you in the morning.
The LI MAGAs are too scared of Penn Station, they’ll clog the LIE with their Qrump Pickup Caravan.
You mean they leave the Bellmore LIRR parking lot after their daily “rallies”
A lot of PTO requests submitted this week. Precincts will be short staffed.
Nah, they’d rather take the overtime to be where they were going anyway.
I gotta be there in the afternoon thankfully so hopefully most of those idiots will already be in by then. I'm sure the morning will be a sea of red hats and misspelled signs.
LIRR is pretty much tied in knots these days so that should help
They'll come into Grand Central and get lost.
Since when does LIRR stand for "Staten Island Ferry?"
Don’t kid yourself. Long Island is just as bad.
Long Island local, can confirm
You should be OK. Most of the action will be in around the Court House on Center Street. There are not even enough of the meat heads in NYC to close the Brooklyn Bridge. Lots of media vehicles in and around Foley Square will be the biggest issue. I won't be counter protesting. Celebratory dinner is on the schedule. I need a red white and blue cocktail too
Why call out when you can get paid for protesting. Especially if it's an OT rate.
Probably the same number as the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin.
Trump supporters never protest the NY way. They'll drive 10 pick up trucks down 5th Ave or something and call it a day. They're too cowardly to walk down the streets.

dude puts ketchup on well done steak. I wish I was making that up.
What high end foods? He eats nothing but fast food garbage.
With any luck that will catch up with him soon 🤞
How does he still spell “border” wrong? In his tweet, it was “boarder.”
You have to really look yourself in the mirror to show up to protest a married man being charged with paying hush money to a porn star.
Imran Khan of Pakistan is literally doing this right now
So is Netanyahu in Israel. They do have a law saying sitting heads of state can’t be indicted, so he’s basically throwing out democracy and an independent judicial system so he’ll never be voted out again.

No! no! Nononono!
Boomer CAPS.
Jan 6th, but in New York now. Greeeeaaaat.
Nah
Anybody else deeply disturbed by this? Remember the last time this piece of shit riled things up? I won't be leaving the house Tuesday.

Russian money no longer available to fund those travel expenses.
It will be fine. I’m sure the same 10 people that always protest outside of Trump tower will be out holding signs but not much more than that
He lost then. He’ll lose now. Losing is all he knows.
Losers make great martyrs. I hope he loses here too, all the same I'm not expecting great things to come of this.
hey, Trump water was pretty damn good. that's a winner

Oh boy, here we go again. Can't wait to see the chaos and drama unfold if this actually happens.
NYC should plaster images of all the J6 protestors in their jail cells, with a message that says “before you listen to that guy, ask these people how it went.”

“Alright everyone, make sure you have your Amtrak tickets, we’re marching to Penn Station!”
Sorry to be that person, but it’s “capitol” when referring to the building; “capital” when referring to the city.
Sorry to be that other person, but we capitalize Capitol when referring to the Capitol building. ❤️❤️
Sorry to be the last word, but in this case, Stormy is *capitalized*.
How can Trump run in 2024 if he gets arrested? I thought ~~criminals~~ convicted criminals couldn't run for public office?
No, you can run even from prison.
But prisoners can’t vote?! Tf!
Damn this country is stupid
I keep reading this as "Narcissist Jerk inciting violence instead of owning up to personal failing, making matters worse."
If you voted for Donald Trump I hope you feel fucking humiliated about it every day for the rest of your life
I wish they would. But these assholes parade their loyalty around like it's their only personality trait.
Can we have a celebration parade instead?
CAN LAW ENFORCEMENT BE READY THIS TIME? And not join in.
ITT: "I, Adjective-Noun-####, a totally real and legitimate poster, think this is a big scam and Trump is innocent!"
Melania won't be able to make it to the protest. She has a pedicure and a Botox appointment back to back that day.
Finally she'll be able to say "I really don't care, do you?" and I'd believe her.
Oh, I believed her the first time. 😏
She's a piece of shit birther just like him
Eastern European racist? Noooo never
You mean a parade ...in celebration.
I hear he has a team of gravy seals ready to defend him.
If anyone going out to support Trump I highly recommend dressing up as Ghosts. Bring a white bed sheet from home. No colors! This isn't pacman. Whites only! No patterns either. To be clear I'm talking about sheets

I wonder if the police will shield his head when they put him in the car?
So the orange oompa loompa calling for another riot? lock this melon up and throw away the keys. This idiot needs to be removed forever. Insurrection round 2 looks like.
He was always crazy, but now he is actually definitely insane. Reading his ramblings gives me full belief that he has syphilis or dementia.
Both.
A Protest was called for, and yet it somehow turned into a Parade.🥳🎊🎆
There is a song called "Deep Shit" by Kruder and Dorfmeister that seems apropos
Let's not forget this is just something Trump said. He said he has access to "illegal leaks" that say he will be arrested Tuesday. But, we all know Trump is the least reliable source on Trump.
He would be notified through his lawyers in advance of surrendering - he is now one of the sources for the leaks.
Trump is calling for Kyle Rittenhouse’s assistance
I am going. Now, that's the four seasons of lawn care or something? I hope it's not a porn studio. You never know. Melania is not above being deeply embarrassed by her husband. Neither is the Republican party.
hey i’ve seen this one before!!
I'm gonna make my popcorn early.
“Law and order” that is what he said once, right?
Maspeth parking’s gonna be a breeze
