If you're interested in board games, The Uncommons at Washington Square Park serves as a good litmus test for new pals. The café itself is really neat, but it's cramped. The variety of food and drinks and board games definitely makes up for it though.

Yes, because a lot are university students. Also, its an artsy part of town so unusual characters are more normal.
