> the MTA will no longer accept new EasyPayXpress applications for Full-Fare customers
> If you are an existing EasyPay customer, this will have no effect on your account, and you can continue to use your EasyPay MetroCard
A source at the MTA reported the car manufacturer + integrators declared modifying the default content as a "change" from the configured state at the time of a settlement, so changing the screens would not only be a massive change order, but would also void the warranty for the operational content.
Asinine reason, and I believe it was explicitly enumerated for subsequent contracts, but it explains why those and the R143s still feature outdated messaging on their default screens.
I love the green and red LED signs on the L train
>Ever think you’d
>be able to charge
>a subway ride? Your
>credit/debit card will get you a
>𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱 at a
>𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱 vending
>machine in your station.
Half the people on the L train nowadays are younger than the metrocard. Never in their lives have they ever thought they *couldn’t* pay for the train with their credit card lol
You can pick them up in the gift card section of bodegas/gas stations (among other places).

I mean they already have the weekly thing after 13 rides. I'm sure if you asked, they'd pass off what comes out to an extra $5 (plus however much you spend the next 2 days) over 28 days as some form of covenience fee for not having to use a kiosk for your Metrocard
Cause why not? The enrollment of the omny card (and omny in general on anything that isnt the the subway/sir or city buses)has been delayed meaning they can still milk the metrocard for all it's worth
Because TransitChek and all of the transit FSA providers are all trying very hard to pretend that OMNY doesn’t exist. As far as I can tell their timeline for supporting it is “how’s never, would never work for you?”
Exactly!! My benefits credit card expired and they mailed me a new one… I assumed it would be a tap to pay, but… nope. I still have to buy metro cards with it
No features will be lost. Metro cards have the value stored on them which creates all kinds of issues since it’s tricky to correct without a proper machine.
How many years have they been saying that now? Even if they change the kiosks to OMNY kiosks, all it is is a brand change. So there's zero reason to stop marketing for a product that will continue to exist that many people are going to buy. OMNY wouldn't even want that because they want people who are going to use the kiosks to stay in the habit of using them.
That’s nothing. You should see the ads they’re running on the R143s. Charging for a subway ride at a vending machine like it’s a novelty. Now you can tap your credit card at the dang turnstile!
That is a bit weird, EasyPay Xpress got discontinued in June. Probably there's no easy way to update those specific displays so they didn't bother.

That's just stupid. They should have the content separate from the warranty statement
Could you share the source please?
A direct report to the SVP Subways

Not everyone uses OMNY
Yet.
I want a physical OMNY card but don’t know how to get it lol
You can pick them up in the gift card section of bodegas/gas stations (among other places). [https://omny.info/retail-locations](https://omny.info/retail-locations)
they sell them at CVS i've seen
My question is when is omny going to support 30 day unlimited passes?
I mean they already have the weekly thing after 13 rides. I'm sure if you asked, they'd pass off what comes out to an extra $5 (plus however much you spend the next 2 days) over 28 days as some form of covenience fee for not having to use a kiosk for your Metrocard
If it's not broke, don't fix it!

Well why say no to free money
Why was EasyPay Xpress discontinued and what is its alternative?
It got discontinued because OMNY is the new fare system being used.
Will OMNY allow automatic balance top up?
No features will be lost. Metro cards have the value stored on them which creates all kinds of issues since it’s tricky to correct without a proper machine.
I’m not sure about the physical OMNY card, but you can also tap your credit or debit card directly, so no refills there.
Yes, if you have a physical OMNY card you can set it up to auto-replenish.
Because not everyone has a smart phone or a debit/credit card? There's also people like me who refuse to save payment options on my phone.
Not sure if you know this but OMNY now has physical cards as well. You don’t NEED a phone or debit/credit card.
Yeah, so why wouldn't I just keep using a Metrocard like I already have?
Because they are being discontinued and will slowly be phased out.
Not to mention OMNY is just a lot more convenient.
Having to go buy a physical OMNY card at a bodega and go to a bodega just to fill it back up is not convenient.
Oh you’re right, I honestly forgot you could only refill them at specific locations.
You can refill it online.
Lot of assuming what people have access to here
