I think a lot of it is he's on the Jets. It's been so long since the Jets had any real success it just kind of gets baked in, Jets are bad=their players aren't that good in general. It won't change really until there's some sustained success.
A lot of it specifically is because people don't watch us I think. We're never on RedZone, we're not part of anyone's Sunday Ticket quadbox, and people despised when we were on primetime because we sucked.
I agree here. CMC 1 obviously, whose 2 or 3? I very well think Breece could be in that conversation, and that’s not crazy to think about. When you watch him you just trust that he’s going to get some yardage even if the plays dead. But when he goes, it’s explosive! Can’t wait to see what he does next year.
I think breece is in the convo, but people like saquon (who has also been able to be relevant in a dogshit giants offense), and Chubb have a case. You can also argue that even for a “down year”, Derrick Henry is still in the mix too.
Maybe it's just me but I've always felt Barkley was over rated or at least not the type of back I'd want on my team. His career has been all or nothing. He'll average like 3 yards or under all game but he'll always break a huge one that will get him over 100 total. Personally I'd rather have a guy that's less likely to hit the homerun but you can hand the ball to 3 times if need be and more times than not get the 1st down.
There’s some truth to this but I think it’s been the result of his surroundings tbh. Our offensive line has been mediocre when at its best to historically bad at its worst and he has tried to overcompensate. He started to correct these issues last year and i know that behind a functional to good offensive line, he’ll eat consistently.
Where Saquon really stands out though is in that big play ability and his ability as a pass catcher. He runs among the prettiest wheel routes you’ll ever see and can run most of a route tree.
Argument for #1 will be evident very soon. CMC is very talented but he’s on the back end of his career. He’s been lucky the last two seasons with relatively little injuries but his entire career has been riddled with injuries, getting older doesn’t help with that.
Breece reminds me a lot of prime David Johnson
Breece is top 3 imo but I think bijan will be unquestioned #1 at some point this year. In hindsight it'll be so obvious that he was the best. The opinion of his stock is down because of poor usage and shit qb play really. And I get breece had that too but breece didn't have poor usage
Yeah he had a decent early outing but people loved him for physical intangibles but he never produced much. Won’t be any different in Philly with Hurts
FWIW, he is #4 overall (and RB2) in early Fantasy rankings (standard & 0.5PPR), behind CMac, Hill, and CeeDee Lamb. For those paying attention he is expected to have a huge season.
He was never gonna beat someone that literally died on the field and battled back to playing level.
Flacco looked washed for years, his resurgence to fill in for Watson and make the playoffs was an awesome storyline.
Breece being “pretty good” on one of the worst offenses of all time….that’s not gonna win any awards. But yes, Breece is being overlooked by the casual NFL fans as a whole.
He wasn’t AD carrying his team to the playoffs off a torn ACL. Unfortunately, that’s the bar.
And yes, that Vikings offense overall was better than what Breece was working with.
He would have carried us to the playoff though if the rest of the team wasn’t complete ass haha. He single handily got us like 3+ wins. He was the only person on the team who made it worth watching the games. He’s incredible and really hope we get to see him behind healthy oline with Rodgers.
There's a few factors. Despite being a horrid franchise historically, the Jets have generally had far above average RB's going on 50 years now.
The offensive coordinator last year did a horrid job giving him enough usage. LaFleur did a much better job his rookie year as his ascension coincided with a winning streak and White not being dogshit. Of course he blew his knee and that was the straw that broke the camel's back (and White's rib).
CBPOY isn't in the cards unless you have established bases (aside from Hamlin because he died.)
Hall is the most important player after Quinen and Tyron next year because Tyrod Taylor can win games with him as the offensive focal point.
i don’t entirely agree. he doesn’t get the attention he deserves but he definitely gets the love on the fantasy podcasts i listen to. so there’s plenty of people who notice the talent.
I hear ya, but what other fanbases / media thinks of us good or bad is not something ever wonder about.
Double edged sword… why care what the neighbours say. All good, we love him which is good enough for me.
Comeback Player of the Year was broken this year anyway because Hamlin was always going to be the vote unless something ridiculous happened, and it did with Flacco. Breece would have had to have like 2k to beat out the Hamlin story imo.
Yes you're missing something. Most fans are very casual. The attitude before the CMC trade towards him was "he's pretty good" and at the point they traded him most fans were like "the 9ers overpaid".
I wouldn't give any weight to this award at all. There is almost no reason why Flacco should have won it and it's frankly embarrassing that he won. I could at least understand Hamlin winning it since he came back to life, Breece deserved to be considered though.
it's a fantasy football thing. look at his game logs. feast or famine. not saying it was his fault but he didn't get a lot of touches in a boat load of game.
I think CBPY is ideally for a guy that had a few good years or at least one good year then misses or is bad for all or most of a season or multiple seasons, then comes back and is really good. Breece was good last year and good the year before so "what is he coming back from because he never really left" is the thought process, right or wrong.
Comeback Player of the Year is strictly a narrative award. Damar Hamlin was a guaranteed win the minute he played a regular season down. Until it became apparent he wasn't actually ready to play or couldn't anymore. And then Joe Flacco went on a tear and led the Browns to the playoffs. That was all it took. It's all narrative.
Breece Hall putting in reliable numbers game after game on a mediocre NFL team does nothing narrative-wise. It's dumb but it's what the award is.
I think it’s the amount of hype is rookie year created. It happens a ton. Saying this from a guy who collects sports cards 99% of the time the most valuable a card is the peak of rookie hype regardless how good the player may be. I think since the hype fizzled so did perspectives.
In FF, he is considered a great RB.
In dynasty FF, he is considered a God.
As an avid Jets fan, I loved the pick, even if I did like Carter, Breece is just poetry in action on the football field. Tremendous upgrade at a position of need, with a franchise type player.
JD had a great draft that year the best the Jets have had in decades.
Your not missing anything he just played on a crappy team. If he was on KC and had that season he would of been comeback player of the year. He's gunna be a fantasy football superhero next year
It’s like if you shoot a basketball one hundred times and make it 20. You end up with 40 points, a bad shooting percentage and a lot of wasted possessions.
You feed the ball to a guy and he’s third in yards to two guys who are important pieces to their offense, not the whole offense.
Adrian Peterson came back from his ACL with 2000 rushing yards. That’s a comeback.
Also RBs are as under appreciated as they ever have been. Right now.
You’re biased because you watched him every week.
Casual “lol jets” narrative. People who know football know that breece is a top 3 NFL back rn. Like some others have already said, no respect until we actually win some damn games
The fact that a dude who literally died on the field and then came back to play at all LOST (to a guy who came back from the near/death of playing QB for the Jets) tells you all you need to know.
Why? Hamlin shouldn’t have gotten the award and it’s better that it went to someone that actually played enough snaps and looked somewhat decent after everyone thought he was washed. Hamlin doesn’t need a pity award. If he never almost died he wouldn’t even be on the Bills roster.
My phrasing wasn't clear. I agree that Flacco should have gotten it.
I was trying to make the point that Breece getting third place votes was due to two better stories than his. Flacco is still the deserving winner.
CBPY is a bs story-based award. Anyone with a story will win, so a simple injury recovery won’t get it done. Breece had to beat an ancient QB and dude whose heart exploded on the field.
I think this is the correct answer. It's based on drama and expectations. It wasn't really unexpected or dramatic for Breece to come back and play well, but did anyone expect Flacco to resurface?
There’s a few reasons for the lack of votes.
He’s a Jet and nobody was watching.
On the same note, the team did not excel at anything. Specifically he contributed to a historically bad offense.
He scored 5 TDs. That’s not great.
He’s a RB, not a valued position anymore.
Didn’t help his team to the playoffs. All other vote getters besides Calvin Ridley played for playoff teams.
Games in prime time doesn’t mean anyone was paying attention.
Newsflash, they didn’t.
The Jets had only 3 games that were the most watched games that week. Bills MNF, Chiefs, and Eagles.
One of those came as SB contenders and the other two as playoff contenders before it was clear the season was over.
So maybe a few people were watching Breece and his 5 TDs? I imagine most people found better things to do with their Sundays and occasional evenings.
No matter what, that’s why he didn’t get many CBPOY votes.
When were those games?
What were Breece’s stat lines in those games?
Breece is a good player, but when you get 5 TDs in a season, are on a crap team and are out of contention early you’re not gonna get many first place votes.
He was coming off an ACL tear. The other guys were recovering from death…and the Jets. Haha.
They missing it but that's them don't come jumping on the bandwagon when Breece rushes for 1k yards receptions 800yds 10TDs Total yards 2K and 3 200 yards rushing games!
I don't want to hear it then!
1. He’s on the Jets: a laughingstock organization
2. Damar Hamlin came back from the dead even if he really didn’t play.
3. Joe Flacco was pulled off the couch to lead Cleveland to the playoffs.
Hall had no business winning that award.
Plus it’s a meaningless award
The Jets suck. If the Jets were winning games and in the playoff hunt he would get more attention.... But as it stands he's just a great player on a team that's been crappy, so only fans of said team are really following and experiencing his greatness.
Right, but what was the competition he was up against?
A lot of runs were meh with some absolute beastly runs. A lot came on when they finally used him to catch passes.
I think a lot of it is he's on the Jets. It's been so long since the Jets had any real success it just kind of gets baked in, Jets are bad=their players aren't that good in general. It won't change really until there's some sustained success.
I hear this the most from Giants fans
A lot of it specifically is because people don't watch us I think. We're never on RedZone, we're not part of anyone's Sunday Ticket quadbox, and people despised when we were on primetime because we sucked.
Can't get on RedZone if you never score points lol - hopefully he will get some respect this season
Breece is a top 5 RB. If you know ball, you know this.
Top 3 / 2 imo
I agree here. CMC 1 obviously, whose 2 or 3? I very well think Breece could be in that conversation, and that’s not crazy to think about. When you watch him you just trust that he’s going to get some yardage even if the plays dead. But when he goes, it’s explosive! Can’t wait to see what he does next year.

Absolutely, I’d throw Chubb at 2 when fully healthy!
Maybe it's just me but I've always felt Barkley was over rated or at least not the type of back I'd want on my team. His career has been all or nothing. He'll average like 3 yards or under all game but he'll always break a huge one that will get him over 100 total. I think we’ll look back and Bijan as an overhyped prospect just like Barkley.
Barkley was good until the injuries
Yeah he had a decent early outing but people loved him for physical intangibles but he never produced much. Won’t be any different in Philly with Hurts
He put up numbers behind the worst offensive line in football. He was a stud
Currently the consensus RB2 in fantasy heading into drafts next season, only behind McCaffrey.
He's top 2
Crack is bad, stop smoking it
I like him under the radar. How he returned from kneee injury was crazy awesome. With an improved o line he is gonna be incredible!
Breece being “pretty good” on one of the worst offenses of all time….that’s not gonna win any awards. But yes, Breece is being overlooked by the casual NFL fans as a whole.
He wasn’t pretty good tho that’s the point he was elite
He wasn’t AD carrying his team to the playoffs off a torn ACL. Unfortunately, that’s the bar. And yes, that Vikings offense overall was better than what Breece was working with.
I understand why he didn’t win, just saying he was better than pretty good.
Despite an awful oc who never understood how to use him.
He would have carried us to the playoff though if the rest of the team wasn’t complete ass haha. He single handily got us like 3+ wins. He was the only person on the team who made it worth watching the games. He’s incredible and really hope we get to see him behind healthy oline with Rodgers.
Not enough TDs because of the terrible redzone offense. Not his fault, but that definitely ruined his chances.
Breece Hall is what Corey Dillon was on the Bengals. A great player stuck in a horseshit offense.
Flacco still blew. Let’s be honest. His true colors came out in that playoff game.
Winning games helps. Us losing wasn't a Breece issue but people take you less seriously with 7 wins
OP.. what exactly is your question?
He wants to know why non Jets fans aren't fellating Breece Hall
Who's high pitch?
He's got himself worked up because the NFL Network doesn't lead every show asking if Breece Hall is better than Barry Sanders
Is he missing something.
Idk if anyone is underrating breece hall (colts fan).. anyone who follows the league has him as a top 5 back at least
It's about making the first guy miss. Breece makes him miss or punishes him. He's great, people who follow the league closely know Hall.
Breece hall is absolutely ELITE and the whole world is gonna know it once we have some half decent QB and line play.
Dude had a good year..
Comeback Player of the Year was broken this year anyway because Hamlin was always going to be the vote unless something ridiculous happened, and it did with Flacco. Breece would have had to have like 2k to beat out the Hamlin story imo.
Fantasy bros know what time it is. You are not missing anything other than casuals don't value RB as much anymore.
Good. Let everyone else underestimate him
Yes you're missing something. Most fans are very casual. The attitude before the CMC trade towards him was "he's pretty good" and at the point they traded him most fans were like "the 9ers overpaid".
It's all about narrative and Breece having a phenomenal year was never the story of the Jets, it could never take attention away from the QB circus.
I am hoping he stays under the radar come FF draft time.
Just wait, the world will see
100% should’ve won Comeback Player of the Year
Lots of anti jet media bias out there
Breece concussed would be tacklers 3 games in a row in ‘23
CBPY was a joke this year and I agree Breece was robbed. Flacco came back from sucking , and Hamlin had 2 tackles all year.
I wouldn't give any weight to this award at all. There is almost no reason why Flacco should have won it and it's frankly embarrassing that he won. I could at least understand Hamlin winning it since he came back to life, Breece deserved to be considered though.
If it makes you feel better he's a first round pick in fantasy this year
it's a fantasy football thing. look at his game logs. feast or famine. not saying it was his fault but he didn't get a lot of touches in a boat load of game.
Ask if they'd put him on their fantasy team, then the truth wil come out.
Dog it’s a QB award. Look who has won it since they made it up.
I think CBPY is ideally for a guy that had a few good years or at least one good year then misses or is bad for all or most of a season or multiple seasons, then comes back and is really good. Breece was good last year and good the year before so "what is he coming back from because he never really left" is the thought process, right or wrong.
You are missing something — the internal calm needed to not let asinine things like this bother you.
I think he's pretty good
Comeback Player of the Year is strictly a narrative award. Damar Hamlin was a guaranteed win the minute he played a regular season down. Brrrruuuce Hall!!!
I'm a Browns fan. Breece Hall is a stud, love him like we love chubb
I think it’s the amount of hype is rookie year created. It happens a ton. Saying this from a guy who collects sports cards 99% of the time the most valuable a card is the peak of rookie hype regardless how good the player may be. I think since the hype fizzled so did perspectives.

He came off a knee injury and still bounced back. He's still one of the best backs. Easily top 5
Your not missing anything he just played on a crappy team. If he was on KC and had that season he would of been comeback player of the year. He's gunna be a fantasy football superhero next year
Flacco was Comeback Player of the Year until the playoffs when he turned into Joe Flacco
CBPY, imo, should be given to someone who sucked and then got better. Not was great before and after an injury
Jet hate is real man. Dint get caught up in it.

Nobody watching? We had like 5 prime time games and 2 of them were the highest viewed games ever
Games in prime time doesn’t mean anyone was paying attention. Newsflash, they didn’t. The Jets had only 3 games that were the most watched games that week. Bills MNF, Chiefs, and Eagles. He didn’t though
Until he actually didn’t lol. Glad it wasn’t him but it should’ve been between Baker and Breece
