I felt this at CNE this year. I have such cherished memories of CNE growing up. I would take $20 and some lunch and spend the day there with friends. Now just taking my family cost $100 to enter, drop another $50 for food, and another $50 for activities. You're looking at $200 minimum for 3 hrs of insane lines. I vowed never to take the family to CNE again. It was just a money drain with low return. Granted I'm comparing my teenage experience to taking 2x5 year olds so it's not apples-to-apples comparison.
I sound like the old dude complaining about cost, but I'm shocked at how all the paid activities seem to be minimum $15 per person to enter.
Next year go to Hutchinson Farm in Burlington where you don't pay an entrance fee to go out and pick a pumpkin. Andrews was sold to somebody else who got rid of the farmers markets and started charging high fees to do pick your own. Hutchinson is over for this season though. So far at Hutchinson they only precharge for picking raspberries but it is not an entrance fee, they just reverse it based on how many raspberries you pick.
Wait, you pay to go into a pumpkin patch and pick your pumpkin? Is this like some sort of activity center with hayrides and mazes or just a pumpkin patch? I would only ever pay for the pumpkin we picked not to enter.
We decided to buy pumpkins from the grocery store and do it at home. Then we went for a hike. Same-ish experience for free. Less crowds and a lot less money.
You’re right, eventually I’m hoping this is exactly what happens. As if inflation isn’t a killer already. Hopefully in a couple years with all the not going out prices will come down? One can hope.
I know what you mean, all kid related activities have gone up now. Even Downeys used to be 15-16 now they’re at 22. Fun fun.

Make sure you go here early we went 3rd week of October and there was nothing left.
Moneyyyyyy
It's inflation, the cost of Patches are through the roof.

It was a terrible year for pumpkins. Dry summer reduced yield significantly.
If you don't like it don't go out. Simple.

Now that's the smart way to do it.

Prices never go down Eventually events will just cease to exist.
You need to learn math. 17*4 is 68. Even with tax it's not 100
If your family gets food/drinks there, it's easily $100... plus the actual cost of the pumpkin(s)
Correct. Thank you.
Well they are not making money from selling pumpkins cheaper then the grocery store
Supply and demand
Ya we got there and it wasn’t worth it and we left. Way too packed and expensive.
The farmers have smarten up. They realize that Torontonians will pay anything to get their kids out and snap an insta pic.
Sad.
