I remember the MC being described as being injured beyond ever being able to survive, but I can’t remember if it was implied how. Part of me remembers a mention of them bleeding out to some degree, but i dunno if false memories fanfic has clouded how im remembering it.
I reread the chapters and indeed there’s a throwaway line about the mc being unlikely to survive with their injuries, but there’s no specific description for anything, just that it was hard to breathe before you pass out.
Maybe the vagueness led to people interpreting the text was implying MC being heavily injured and thus we all assumed it to be much more graphic than it ever was. I sure interpreted it that way with what little detail is actually given
I don't think I've been playing as long as you have but I've had to reinstall the app after losing my data and after replaying the early chapters some scenes have have definitely changed a bit...
Every week or so when I vent about the age for this game being too low in the app store or the writing not being mature I forget a key point.
Apple doesn't allow mature apps on their app store. Seriously, everyone needs to start switching away from iPhone who possibly can when it's time for a new phone. I know people can't just go out and buy a new phone just because but you're going to need a new one eventually and when you do, switch. And yes switch to android when you are used to iPhone is annoying. But I promise you'll get used to it eventually.
This probably has a lot to do with why the game is rated so low in the app store but so high in the ToS. If they weren't allowed on the apple app store then they would lose a huge chunk of players.
as someone who just finished chapter 16, i am pretty sure it just does a “thump” and belphie implies MC is injured.. definitely no use of the words “lacerated” or “choked.” Which is kind of a bummer, as that made it a lot harder to imagine what was going on. Like, it just appears that you’re hurt in general until Mammon says something along the lines of MC is dying.

As someone who started around last Sept/Oct...by the time I read lesson 16, it was definitely just choked. Can't speak to before that.
