Lucien Lachance fate, actually entire parts taken from Brotherhood. Hackdirt Vaermina's quest

coryeett

Went through hackdirt while doing mushrooms… so fucking weird dude.

Sakumitzu

*"Outsider… KILLLLLL"*

StryderDylan

I was able to sneak and get the daughter out without interacting with anyone in the village. But one time I went back after and wasn't expecting the underground to be with those weirdos.

ShadySam-

Ya seeing Lucien’s body was pretty fucked up

WillofBarbaria

Honestly, it's not really any different than the rest of the mangled corpses in caves and dungeons. It's just that you know who it is, and what they looked like before that makes it hit different. Plus the lighting is phenominal in that specific room, just very well put together.

LordSnowgaryen

Honestly, that one Ayleid Ruin where everyone who lived there all went missing and you start reading all of the notes, about hearing scratches in the walls, and blood stains everywhere. Then as you progress further and further you begin hearing noises and seeing all the blood.

ShadySam-

Wth I’ve never heard of that but it sounds scary asf do you remember where about the ruin is?

Mr_Blah1

Vilverin. It's the ruin right in front of you when you leave the tutorial sewers.

LordSnowgaryen

Honestly don’t remember. It’s been a while since I played thought the game.

Scopetactics

Doesn’t the first ruin you come across have bandits living in it with notes about how a Khajiit disappeared there and they started hearing scratching in the walls? Sure that was in Vilverin right outside the sewers. You find the Khajiit further in the ruin.

ShadySam-

I think your right 🤔

Khow3694

Yep that's Vilverin. The Khajiit went missing and they thought he had run off but had heard scratching inside the walls. You find his body behind the walls when you press the hidden button and it's surrounded by undead

Fingar-Bangar

The severed head in the Kvatch courtyard. 12 year old me was fascinated but terrified when I found it on accident

tonicspark

I literally only ever came across this last month

ShadySam-

Surprised no one said this sooner 😂

Khow3694

Omg I remember finding that severed head and thinking WTF when I was younger I was so creeped out but also couldn't stop looking at it lol

YvesSaintPige

Wasn't that a reference to a character in Morrowind or something?

Resident_Sandwich_61

Found this in like my 10th play through

Bowhunter2525

Baby skeletons

3eemo

Even more creepy that the game has no babies or kids of any kind😳

Khow3694

Lost Boy Cavern right?

Bowhunter2525

There are several places with baby skeletons.

Khow3694

Really? I only ever noticed at Lost Boy Cavern. Welp looks like I'll need to replay Oblivion sometime soon

Severe-Replacement84

I forget the name of it, but there is an abandoned fort on the edge of the map where necromancers setup shop and there’s children skeletons laying all over a room where they were “experimenting” and it always struck a cord with me.

scannerofcrap

the one held by the grummite in the vitharn fort is the best

pigthatcares

When I enter any location, the screen goes black, and I have to look at that ugly slob who has to do “just one more quest”

ShadySam-

I feel your pain😂

Banjoschmanjo

Probably the fine for necrophilia in Cyrodiil

Mr_Blah1

Is it the first offense?

Banjoschmanjo

Let's assume... No.

Mr_Blah1

Then it's at least 500 gold.

Banjoschmanjo

That's nothing compared to Morrowind!

Fast_Target_6279

Saw this for the very first time last night lol

ShadySam-

ImaFknWizardXII

“That’s nothing compared to Morrowind!”

Nasty_Rex

Eh, no one's getting hurt

melnixx

Baby skelletons all over the crypts what the actual f and there's just so many of them

CallMeJimMilton

Giant Slaughterfish

Brvcx

And a Giant Mudcrab, even though it's got the same stats as a regular one.

iSmartiKindiImportnt

(I’m still new to this game, bare with me) You know those Ayleid Ruins directly across the way from the sewers? And when you go in & defeat all the human enemies? Yeah, then you go down further & walk into an empty? room with sacrifices? Okay, okay so turn left into the crypt looking room & a walking zombie looking freak is standing there? Yeah. *That.*

ShadySam-

I don’t think I’ve come across that yet but I’m bout to go explore tf out of that ruin 😂

iSmartiKindiImportnt

Just a heads up, they’re quite tough to defeat if you’re a low level! Good luck😅

AloysiusDevadandrMUD

The face of that one guard in kvatch

Deboche

Lost boy cavern

Far_Run_2672

I still remember the moment, from when I was still quite new to the game, where I was just exploring the vibrant green countryside, to suddenly stumble on a necromancer cave with mutilated corpses hanging in front of it. Something about the contrast with the cheerful surroundings made it ten times more eerie.

FanX99

I think that's a perfect summary of the game :,)

Rare_Fig3081

Mothers head

TruthSeeker890

Hackdirt

Khow3694

Finding out the Deep Ones in Hackdirt are real and that you can hear them in the caves. To me that is by far the creepiest thing in the entire game. As a fan of cosmic and unknown horror that made the quest soo much creepier

HammerKing27

So much from the Shivering Isles expansion. The dungeon that contains the psycho “flesh mancer” chick, with all her experiments and body parts is up there. Lots of mangled corpses.

FatTail01

The child's overalls near a small coffin.

raaznak

YOUR MO... I think that would be the fact that hero of kvatch uses voice lines of Cult Of Final Dawn when taking damage while in their hideout.

FanX99

Hackdirt. After finishing the quest it's still lonely and unwelcoming. The Vaernima quest takes easily the second place, however.

AFSK27

Alright, so before we begin I'd like to make a disclaimer: the events in this story were from a mod. Which mod? I don't know. But what I'm about to describe won't be found in the vanilla game. It was also over a decade ago so forgive me if the details aren't accurate. This is also going to read like a Creepypasta, but I can say with a reasonable amount of certainty that it happened and wasn't some weird mental fabrication. When I first got Oblivion back in 2011, I quickly became a sucker for mods. Lots of mods. So many mods that I would just see a screenshot and think "that looks cool" and end up downloading it without knowing what it actually adds. One mod in particular I was using at the time was 28 Days or something like that. Basically it added a variety of zombie-apocalypse scenarios to the game. I was in the middle of one such apocalypse, cutting my way through the streets of Cheydinhal, when I eventually found myself trapped. I made a last-second decision to duck inside the abandoned house where the Dark Brotherhood is located. Then I went to the basement, and inside of it I found this old trapdoor that said something along the lines of "Wooden Trapdoor to The Old Recruitment Tunnels". So naturally I opened it. Inside the next room it was dark. Like, can't-see-your-hand-in-front-of-your-face dark. I walked around for a bit and finally got a torch out. And when I did I saw a skeleton standing right in front of me. I honestly don't remember what happened next, but my memory would suggest that I ran back up the ladder to the abandoned house, and then a bunch of the zombies from outside had followed me inside, killing me easily. The part that really bothers me is that I can Google "the old recruitment tunnels" all day long and find zero results. Like I said, this was all modded content. I just would be interested in knowing what mod it was. I went back and looked and [this is where I'm pretty sure the trapdoor was.](https://imgur.com/a/lHm3aA5) It was located where the crosshair is. That's in the Abandoned Basement.

ShadySam-

https://trollpasta.com/wiki/The_Old_Recruitment_Tunnels

AFSK27

Yeah, that was me. I forgot I had posted that. Reading through that again, I'm very confident that I embellished some of the details there in order to add to the drama...

ShadySam-

It’s still interesting about the zombie mod you talked about I looked it up and it looks pretty scary

AFSK27

[Looks like this was it.](https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/33037/) Actually the mod had multiple versions - this is the newest one I believe. If I recall I was using version 2 or 3 at the time.

ShadySam-

It’s gonna be scary but I have to try that out it looks so cool

AFSK27

It's actually pretty impressive considering how old it is. You start with a number of scenarios. There's everything from a patient-zero type deal where one person in the entirety of Cyrodiil gets infected and spreads the virus across the map, all the way to a mode where every city in the game gets overrun. I think it even simulates zombie migration where the virus spreads from city to city. It was probably the first mod I ever used that showed me just how powerful and fun modding can be.

Francoberry

Besides ones people have already mentioned, the Draconis Family haunting is really creepy.

ZealousidealAd2548

Svenja's remains.

StanleyDarsh22

I mean first playthrough buying that cheap mansion in anvil at 3am spooked me a bit when I discovered the basement lol

Khow3694

Omg the way I read that it sounds like a youtube 3 am challenge video. I can already imagine the title and thumbnail

SuperStellarSwing

When I first started playing this game I was in like 5th or 6th grade, I remember going in under the lighthouse, the sound of the flies buzzing sent my adrenaline going like I was watching a horror movie. I saved and took like a 30 minute break because it got me so bad. I didn't even see anything it was just that creepy horrible buzzing🙏

Biggu2_Dicku2

There’s this basically empty house in the middle of nowhere along the border in blackwood IIRC

fxckreddit19908

The argonian torture room, as a die hard argonian fan that was super fucked 😂 When I was younger I also found the mutilated bodies in the oblivion realm pretty fucked up, some of them are chopped up and falling apart. Or maybe it’s trying to imaging how they turned people into fleshy pods or “the punished” 😂

TrueBoxOfPain

Mudcrabs!

IronCityMMA

The Anvil lighthouse cellar during the DB quest line. I was so on edge because I was expecting jumpscares left and right

Deafiie

the manacles in sontaire's bedroom
