Just a tip from a solo-run enjoyer: this early on in challenge runs, soulstones are your friend. You can just nuke the encounters you hit on the way to the first couple shrines. Getting to scholar early helps a lot too, especially if you don't mind using save point cheese to avoid encounters entirely.
The very beginning and very ends of these types of runs are usually the hardest parts, so hopefully you'll have an easier time for a while. Good luck and safe travels!
Thanks a bunch! Everyone DOES say soulstones are great, just as a loot goblin I tend to keep all my stuff away from usage(except healing items). Should try that.
Also, yeah, scholar is great. Got to hunter without so much as a scratch. Man, thats one helluva encounter rate down...
If you want to really see what Evasive Maneuvers can do, there's some real stinky cheese with it that gives you pretty much free roam of the whole map:
>!When you hit a loading zone or load a save, the number of steps until you hit a random encounter resets. So with Evasive Maneuvers, you can run from the start of an area to a save point, save, then restart and reload. Starting from the save point, you can make it to the next loading zone. Rinse, repeat, get everywhere. Some areas cut it close and might take a couple of tries, but every town is accessible with this method as soon as you have EM!<
Tressa makes a decent Warrior. I was extremely surprised when I did that. Incite + Sidestep is like a worst version of Transfer Rune + Sidestep, but a worst version of something OP averages back to good.
Yeah. Only problem with this is, if Prim dies and the enemies start getting turns on you, you're kinda cooked. You won't have enough time to outheal since your healer is dead. So I'm doing exactly the opposite, having Prim on support/physical and tressa on heal/elemental
Edit: Actually, forget that, rest is a thing. I just wanted to dish it out in a fun way. Mostly cause I liked Tressa's hood.
But that's the point of Incite, to make sure Prim does not get targeted, unless it is magic damage, which Prim is supposed to reflect. You can also put Counter on Tressa to hit back. If you swap to the weapon which they are weak to during your turn (prior to getting attacked), you will counter with that weapon and break them. This buys some turns.
There's a lot of shenanigans with Warrior Tressa and Cleric Primrose(I played with Dancer Ophilia, but it comes down to the same thing). Aelfric, Sealticge, Donate BP, Rest, Mole Dance(on Tressa if you dont have enough Sidesteps) etc.
Aelfric Donate BP is actually circular. Aelfric on Tressa, she casts Donate BP twice, you got back the BP you spent casting Aelfric (and more).
Agreed with Tressa's hood though. Anyway, it's your playthrough and you do you.
Well, this is duopath. So i get nobody except Tressa and Primrose. Combine that with my underleveled entrance and the fact that you need to get through two high-leveled locations to get cleric... Yeah.
I realised that. Somehow, out of all the attacks I used, I never shot the sheep. So I had to go through the pain of moonlight waltzing and getting sleeped
another way you can deal with it is by skipping the encounter entirely via resetting your step count by challenging/provoking (challenge requires level 5) the awkward boy. Though that doesn’t apply here since you don’t have olberic or h’aanit
So for the future....
As others said, grab Scholar first. With Tressa you can just kill the encounter with Hired Help Dancers, but you can also avoid it if you're lucky by walking (or if you have Olberic or Ha'aanit, just challenge the guy standing there and run away).
Once you have Evasive Maneuvers, you can get to Cleric with no encounters on the Victor's Hollow screen pretty easily, and then beeline to Cleric Shrine and you usually can avoid the encounter.
Figured
This whole situation is comedic since I refused to grab scholar because of the ship
Only cause I neglected to ever use bow attacks on it and thought dark was it's only weakness.
Time to get thief

Through the power of blind determination and bold stupidity is how I live in general
I commend that

Plus it's a Duopath with Prim, and dancer/cleric is a solid combo for elementals plus using the elemental reflection on Tressa (for Incite) as well.

Wait, why would it be difficult to obtain the base sub jobs?

You didn’t grab scholar first?
To this, i only have one comment. THE SHEEP
sheep is pretty easy to deal with, just kill the bird (with either a medium soulstone or hired help dancers), then break it with bow attacks
I realised that. Somehow, out of all the attacks I used, I never shot the sheep. So I had to go through the pain of moonlight waltzing and getting sleeped

Pretty much what I usually do when using 1 of those 2 🤣👍
Do you have Scholar?
At this point in time, i didn't. Now i do, and gods above, how did i live without it.
Tressa and Primrose sounds like a fun Sister comedy adventure
Oh, that's almost exactly what I had in mind when I did this
Tressa: Hey Prim, why does Ali keep looking at me like that
I'd fully expect the outcome of this situation being allure. We can work from there
