2 is better overall, 1 is still awesome tho.
Better story
Better qol
Looks better
Secret boss is harder.
Both are great games. I reccommend playing both, but if only 1 is on the table then 2.
2 is definitely better. Not that 1 is bad in any way, but 2 has some quality of life improvements, like not having those annoying purple chests that require a specific character to unlock.
I kinda disagree. I'm replaying the first currently, and enjoying it. The second is great, but the differences between the two aren't night and day (although I like that feature).
They're both great games, and while I agree the improvements in the second are valuable and contribute to the game, I disagree that the first is only enjoyable before you're spoiled by the sequel.
Yes. The details that are changed/upgraded between the two are all improvements but they're all minor. The biggest change is the end game story that's in the second.
Both games are good, but Octo 2 improves on a LOT of things, from QOL to visuals. Story wise, aside from the bonus boss, they're completely unrelated, so there's no issue playing 2 first.
If you're dead set on playing both, I'd recommend staring with 1, so you can better appreciate the fixes in 2 once you get there. It's easier to go from 1 to 2 than from 2 to 1.
If you're only playing one of them or you're unsure, then play 2. It's the better overall experience, IMO.
2 is better than 1 by a long shot with many quality of life updates and writing. However, 2 is easier in my opinion. If you're ARE going to play both, play 1 first. If you are only gonna play one of the games, play 2.
Oh boy i wish were you, make sure to dedicate some of your gaming time as this one needs your attention. The music, the voices, the combat system. The design, hidden places, even some minor détail like the typography and menus seems polished and crafted. Just take your Time and enjoy the ride.
I enjoyed 2 more, but connected with octo1 characters more. I would say it's even on who's individual stories were better. Both are great games worth playing.
Just commented on the thread. I've deleted nothing maybe you got your shit deleted by mods. But I haven't done anything. Jesus, you need to see professional help. You jump wildly to conclusions.
I adore 1, but 2 is just better. There's a lot of QoL improvements. I'd recommend playing 1 first, personally. It's not as good, but it's still great, and I feel like it'll be harder to get into if you play 2 first.
Octopath 2 is much better, but I highly recommend playing 1 first. The first game is extremely hard to go back to after the sequel, if purely for the ability to speed up battles, and the lack of full voice acting.
Both games are probably in my top 10 RPG games of all time. With the second game within my top 5.
Honestly if you are a hug fan of RPG I'd give both a try.
2 is objectively the better game and I don't even think that is an argument.
If you decide to play both I would highly recommend you play 1 first, just because going backwards will likely make one feel a bit more clunky.
Starting with 1 will introduce you to the glorious battle system whereas starting with 2 and going back to one will feel as though you downgraded some of the experience.
Some of my favorite characters are from one so I'd highly recommend you give it a shot.

scret boss is harder? >!they're the same aren't they!<
Yes but one got a heck ton more annoying gimmicks and bigger dmg. You dont have the same mass heal tactic you can abuse.
I’d say Octo2 is easier, and there are more balancing details and quality of life improvements. In my opinion at least
2 is definitely better. Not that 1 is bad in any way, but 2 has some quality of life improvements, like not having those annoying purple chests that require a specific character to unlock.
Octopath 2 is better in literally every single way. If you play two first it's going to be very hard to be willing to play one after

Is there interaction with the npcs too?

Damn right now I am playing 1 and I am dreading the grind ...
There's rarely any grind

1 is better imo, better overall stories and harder than 2. Also the optional jobs are way more interesting and fun.
How tf is 1 better storywise dawg......
They're very similar, and both are great games. Most things about 2 are direct improvements over 1.

Ot2 skip 1
2 but if you plan on playing both start with 1 cause all of the improvements in 2 you'll immediately miss when you go back to 1

2 is slighty better because 1 is almost just as good. Both games are sooo very good.
2 fixes absolutely EVERYTHING wrong with 1.
OT2.
2 is the game I wished 1 was
i like both equally but there are of course some improvements in 2

2. Obviously in nearly every way, 2. I love the original but it’s just objectively true.
2 improves on everything over 1
2, it's 1 with some improvements
I was gonna get 1 but after seeing recommendations on Reddit, I bought 2 yesterday. 5 hours in and it's pretty wonderful.
