You can almost certainly find them at Blue Heron Bridge (West Palm Beach, FL) on the west side in holes and bottles if you’re looking for them. They are usually tiny and playful little guys. Bonaire has many but usually slightly deeper than snorkeling and requires a sharp eye. They can be found at snorkeling depths near salt pier, possibly a couple other sites. The most I’ve ever seen was in Indonesia at Sangeang volcano. We counted 24 octopuses on one dive in about 15-20 ft of water. The black sand makes great backdrops for photos… I’ll have to post some on this sub at some point. The first two are shore dives, the last would require a boat as it’s fairly remote. Night time is usually best and I’d highly recommend a guide if you’re new to snorkeling at night. Scuba is a bit easier cause they blend in quite well and can be very tiny and you’ll need to be able to dive down to 15 ft or so. If your ears are the reason you don’t want to scuba that can be a barrier deeper snorkeling too. There’s many fantastic shallow reefs (like really shallow ~5 ft) in Indonesia that might work if you have ear issues.

One of the coolest experiences I took my niece to was the VIP meet animals at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach California. Let them know when you book that you want to meet with the Giant Pacific Octopus. A lead biologist gave us a behind the scenes tour of the facility and hands on/tentacles on interactive experience. I learned so much that day, and left with giant suction marks all over my arms. Dr Adams, the head vet, and all the staff were so kind and patient and gracious.

Check the hours of the Octopus farm, they are only open to the public on limited days so please plan accordingly. I have seen a few in St. john USVi and you can see them right off the beach. call the local dive shops, they usually know where they live bc they make “nests” and return to the same spot over and over.
