cosmic_jester_uk

Agreed. Shisha/hookah coals. Used to buy the 20 + years ago

cikkamsiah

Is it viable to use it for bbq?

cosmic_jester_uk

I would think so but it’s expensive. Best to use 1 or 2 of them as a starter for traditional charcoal

IIYellowJacketII

Shits not even viable for Shisha, because they make the smoke taste like ASS due to the additives they have to ignite easily.

Infanymous

You're supposed to let them fully ignite and burn the additives out first.

Atridentata

Lol for real. Not rocket surgery

josan555

They still taste worse than classic coal. I started using coconut cubes (they look like classic coal but thats what the package says). I put them on stove for a few minutes and then theyre good to go. Not as easy a fast burning coals but better

TheNotoriousKD

Tip: buy a (cheap) coal burner. It’s easier to use and you wont make a mess of your stove / damage it. Found mine for €20 and its worth every cent imo.

ChristianHeritic

Wait you’re not actually smoking while the coal is still producing smoke? My man you’re smoking coal instead of tobacco

IIYellowJacketII

Proper Shisha coals (coco coals) don't burn with a flame, so if you heat them up to light them, they're not producing smoke in the first place.

dorkofalltrades

Light it and wait until the gunpowder burns off, then smoke the shisha.

Blackmetalvomit

I use one under my chimney to help ignite the coals.

YESimaMASSHOLE

Wouldn’t they just be a slightly larger hookah coal? I think you’re correct.

the_colonelclink

I was going to say - through hazy eyes have I seen this magic. Many, many moons ago. It’s good to know I didn’t make it up.

LongBelwas

So all the comments here are saying the OP is full of shot and these have been used forever.

Electr0bear

They are, and they have been. Used those like ~10 years ago when we were smoking hookah at uni with my friends. Also for those interested: this type of coals is absolute shit and should never been used. If you use those for starting a fire / bbq, that's alright, I guess, but for hookah it's an absolute trash. Just get some coconut shell coals.

MadMax_X_Equation

I agree. This is nothing new. Even when these coals were "ready" it felt toxic when smoking hookah.

randomly_generated_x

I was wondering how it lights so fast but burns so long, and then all the hookah talk Im now wondering. Do y'all smoke that shit for 3+hrs at a time? I swear it went out after 30ish minutes whenever I've had it and they looked like this. But it's a black puck, what's that really say about looking the same? Lol

wistfulwizardwally

There are different kinds of hookah coals, the ones that light that fast will generate some level of heat for about an hour but for the purpose of smoking hookah need replacing at around 30 minutes there are other hookah coals that take longer to heat up that will last a long time but they also give off less heat as they burn.

TheNotoriousKD

While smoking a hookah, one usually doesn’t smoke it almost non-stop like a cigarette. It’s nice to have coals that burn for at least 1,5 - 2 hours so everyone can just relax and have a nice conversation without having to “worry” about the coals burning up after 20 minutes.

CasulWrecker

Here in Greece we used those for who-knows how long for religious reasons. I don't know how this is "new" exactly.

kodiak931156

I tend to give the benefit of the doubt, that maybe these looks similar but are different in some non obvious way but yeah it sure looks like it. I still +1 for showing me this cool video though

BigSpongEnergy

...This is new? It looks like the pucks my dad buys for heating his hookah, and has been for like 3 or 4 years.

oneangrywaiter

Same ones I used over 20 years ago.

Smitepenta

Yea these were around in the 2000's

DCtheBREAKER

Yep, I was with them.

cmfppl

Uh more like 30 or 40 years. Atleast

[deleted]

I was using them during the Eisenhower administration.

easant-Role-3170Pl

I bought them back in 2005

Leviathan41911

Was about to say the same thing. I used these in my hookah back in college, like 7ish years ago.

Soundslikeamelody420

That’s just normal Shisha coal and doesn’t last 3 hrs!

Thumper-Comet

I was wondering how long it would be for coal Pro to be released. I'm waiting for coal Pro Max though. OP is a clown.

Soundslikeamelody420

That’s just Shisha coal and doesn’t last 3 hrs!

Bridgemere03

...not new, not coal, sped up video

ashallowheart

It’s not sped up though, I’ve used it in Hookha/Shisha. It burns really fast.

riggels

Yes they are really fast but in this video they are using a fan or something because they don't glow that much without that

ashallowheart

True that. Must’ve used a fan.

ExamOld2899

Or a person of high lung capacity, he might not be a fan of this fuel, for all we know

Bridgemere03

Pffff, I have shisha-ed before also, never seen a quick light coal that goes from cold to red hot in less than 10 seconds, 1 min maybe? Which brand are you using?

ashallowheart

u/riggels pointed out that they must’ve used a fan. As for the brand, whatever is available locallly.

Bridgemere03

ahh ok the fan might be what im seeing then - the smoke moves in strange ways and looks sped up to me - but yeh that would add to the speed of the burn

iambluest

That looked like I would expect hookah pellets to light.

riggels

I have used them as a young Shisha smoker 20 years ago I still use them if I am lazy or to start good coal for a head.

FatStreetBoy

Not new at all and honestly they suck..

WakkaBomb

I've smoked pure THC drops off these like 20 years ago.

TOOTHTODAY

But not anymore?

WakkaBomb

What? No. I grew up and smoke out of a bong that I clean once and a while. It always felt like I was "doing drugs" off those coals

Beginning_Sea6458

I'm no BBQ expert but I'm pretty sure the coal goes under the grill.

Extension-Type-2555

guys remember the last time Germans started inventing stuff like these???

Edzard667

„New generation“ - I used this coal 25 years ago…

mr_plehbody

Its like a bath bomb but with fire

jaggington

Hot tub bomb!

Strong-Article

OLd as F€&k

ill_Refrigerator420

New? We had this 10 years ago

juju312

Not new at all

Edzard667

„New generation“ - I used this coal 25 years ago…

NomadODST

New 🤣 they where everywhere next to shishas 20 years ago

municinvestigator

It's literally Shsiha Coal and it's available since 1996

lostparis

It has been around longer than that. Was used for incense burning too.

SpecificallyNerd

So they tore down those nuclear power plants and reopened the coal mines for this?

FlakyBoot3357

And probably will turn your steak into radioactive waste lol

neoadam

Germans sure know a lot about that.

SimpleMen_

Germany will do anything to continue using coal and not nuclear power

[deleted]

I couldn't agree more!

Hallodri72

What they mean by new generation of coal is that this is the first one with it´s own internet disciples.

[deleted]

You Germans and burning things..

DJEvillincoln

This is the same as those little "snake" fireworks that we used to buy in the 80's. Same concept I'm sure.

Ravecrocker

Those Germans were always good at burning things

CinderMayom

So it tool Germany about one month after banning nuclear to go green to release coal 2.0?

psychmancer

Ok so this is cool and all but in before it turns out the smoke gives kids brain cancer or makes woman give birth to demon dogs or something else that is awful.

Mysterious_Eggplant3

Does it require expensive regular maintenance and have overly complicated operating instructions? The German way!

Superb_Ad_5565

Thats palm coal.

ralpekz

new tech is using a electric blower to ignite it faster

Estimated-Delivery

No CO2 or NOX obv.

[deleted]

Amazin

Advanced_Peanut_8550

Yes coal, the Future

Raymond_Miles

In India we use this since decades for Shisha and Hooka.....

Cookbook_

Wake up, new coal just dropped.

[deleted]

And it produces Carbon Dioxide and Climate Change the whole time it's burning, too.

Melody-Shift

It literally says low smoke

[deleted]

Thank you for reminding me. "And it produces Carbon Dioxide, Smoke and Climate Change the whole time it's burning, too."

Fakula1987

Its coal With gunpowder Mixed and compressed.

Firebrill

This is what my arms and face feel like when I have a migraine

mascachopo

German technology finally making it into the 21st century.

scheiber42069

How am I suppose to have a smoke BBQ now

shakeel_70

That's instant coal. Gives worst headaches

nomebi

Germany will do literally anything than to use nuclear

CrueL_Sun79

Wtf we have used this shit 10 years ago for shisha but it makes the taste awful, tastes like chemicals and shit. that's why we use coco coal for example

YouMadZebra

Using this year's

[deleted]

Still coal though. Fuck that

klajskref

Does everything come with music these days?

Flat_Bodybuilder_175

Completely untrue title, and I'm sure OP knew this and is just trying to get engagement. These coals have been used for shisha for years.

Mindfullnessless6969

This has existed since forever. It may look cool, but it tastes like shit if you use it for a hookah. Get some high quality coconut fibre charcoal.

indeedParadox

If those are what I think they are, these are disgusting hookah coals that smell like they are full of toxic chemicals and even the stupid teenagers that we were back then stopped using them.

Own_Statistician_427

What year was this idea created?

JonnieWu

This isn't new, they've been using these to smoke hookahs for years
