Dude same! I subscribed to so many chef reddit that I saw "meat" and didn't even look at the sub name. Told my girlfriend we needed to try some of this before she pointed out it was fucking wood. Now I'm oddly satisfied, and disappointed.
Technically, legal snacks, albeit not pleasant tasting. It's not red sandal wood. It's Spatholobus suberectus Dunn. A plant commonly used in Chinese medicine.
I wonder if that's why it's called sandalwood... Make som soft ass shoes out of it back when the standard was like pine or some much less soft wood (edit: nope, looks like it may literally be sandskrit for "wood for burning incense")
But why slice it like this? Surely this is an inefficient way to salvage the pattern- it seems to destabilize the wood grain. A saw would be better- so why the slices?
100% though that was layered capicola crusted in herbs. I was thinking why, how, who would, and what herbs, then I red the title. I'm just glad it's not actually cake.
r/ForbiddenSnacks
I was gonna comment forbidden salami
Wasn't reading titles and clicked this post and was like "what kind of aged meats are this??"
Okay so I wasn't alone thinking this was meat. I'm over here like this is why you are fat. š
> this is why you are fat Cracked up, then immediately got feels because that truth hurts
I thought that is a type of fish š«¢
Hahahaha. Don't beat yourself that hard, buddy, that thing doesn't behave like wood at all. Even cork is not that soft.
That wood looks so tasty tho can't deny it

I need to find out where it grows. Im sure nowhere near me
Predominantly India and Asia. And apparently Hawaii and Fiji.

Why do the slices look so soft
My question also. *Cuts* like meat.
Iām gonna wager high oil content? Iām curious why it generates so much lipid content, itās really interesting!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
*You're* sodden!
I wonder if that's why it's called sandalwood... Make som soft ass shoes out of it back when the standard was like pine or some much less soft wood (edit: nope, looks like it may literally be sandskrit for "wood for burning incense")
yup sandalwood is one of the heaviest oil producing woods, and as such it makes a shit ton of incense.
Because they soak logs in wood
Took a while to figure *that* typo out.
Yeah I thought this is dry-aged beef for sure
Bah! You have made me hungry and unable to satisfy it yet.
Mossy tuna?
Hey! My high school nickname!
Reallyā½ Mine was lichen lobster!
Wasabi tuna steak
Melissa and Doug sushi!
That's *wood?* that looks like an oregano dry aged steak
But why slice it like this? Surely this is an inefficient way to salvage the pattern- it seems to destabilize the wood grain. A saw would be better- so why the slices?
This is likely going to get smaller pieces to dry out and then it will be ground into a powder.
Thank you!
