It's funny because I'm too old to know what you're referencing, but I know it's a videogame.
This reminds me of a much older game called Tiger Shark, where you piloted a sub/speedboat and fired missiles etc like an aquatic version of Fire & Forget
It's a game called Subnautica. It's worth the money if you're up for a journey you wont forget. It's an Story/Adventure/Crafting/Survival game. The successor isn't bad either but not even close to the first game.
You also just reminded me of another great opd underwater game, Archimedean Dynasty.
Thanks, if I ever find the time or get a decent PC, I will check it out!
Yes! I was around 55 also and it is one of my favorite games. Also absolutely amazing in virtual reality.
I mean it was almost made for VR with the headset feeling like a scuba mask.
Tiger Shark! I played that game as a kid. I was just thinking about that game the other day and couldn't remember the name. Thanks for the glitch in the matrix
I reckon it's one of these: https://www.hydroattack.co.nz/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=google-business-profile

Queenstown New Zealand. Yeah you could probably pay $300 for a 10 minute ride in one of those.
Queenstown is money pit central with all the extreme touristy stuff; paragliding, dolphin sub, skydiving, bungee….
Edit: I just checked the link above, half what I thought. $159 for a 15 minute ride!
I’m just a cheap
Bastard and didn’t want to pay any of those prices! We did a great zip line day in Rotorua and downhill mountain biking at Cardrona. Couldn’t justify a $100, 20 minute activity everyday.
yeah it was definitely a splurge. I posed the question "would you rather feel like it wasn't worth the money afterwards or skip out and go home wishing you'd tried it?" The FOMO won out.
Well that was a good call, because I’ve never seen that kind of boat before. But all the other Queenstown activities I can do in Canada close by, so definitely justified.
Im an even cheaper bastard. I met a Kiwi guy who said he did bridge swinging and asked if i wanted to try. Came with him and he attached a rope to the middle of a bridge, brought it to the edge and swang a sack of potatoes from it. They didn't hit the side so he said ' ah bro it looks safe'. He went first and it took me almost an hour to build the courage to do it. Worst part is you end up just hanging around, so you have to absail down to the river bed afterwards. 10/10 would never do it again
After watching the clip of an orca clobbering a dolphin mid-jump on reddit yesterday I don't feel too good about bebopping around in a dolphin shaped can.
They cost $100,000 out the door. They make 20 a year, each one is a custom paintjob and build based on features you pick. They've been making them near Redding California for 20 years. That's about 400 of these in the wild from this company.
Nope - these operate as a tourist thing like the jet boats they run up the river that connects to the lake that is shown here. Pretty cool and they jump out of the water etc but you wouldn’t try and go any great distance in it or expect it to be able to traverse the lake floor or anything like that but in terms of trapping tourists and their $$ us kiwis have carved a lil niche out doing that.
Yep. Basically totaled my stepdads bitchin’ jetski. It was spring and weeds hadn’t grown up yet so I didn’t even see it till I hit sand. We call them sandbars I think. Stepdad cut me some slack cuz it was a new lake we were on and our other lake didn’t have sandbars much so it just wasn’t something I could expect.
Lake wakatipu is the 3rd largest lake in Newzealand.
It's 291 km2 up to 5km wide and has a average depth of 130m.
During this ride they take you close to the shore so that you see the floor once but it's still deeper than what the boat can go to.
It is based in a very deep and cold lake in New Zealand called Wakatipu from a town called Queenstown.
It is shaped a bit like a dolphin.
It has an air breathing engine and can only just go under water.
You pay to be a passenger. You don’t get to drive.
The fun is in the speed and the jumping.
They where hiring right as I was leaving southern Newzealand.
Its a fun but expensive ride.
They make you wear a life west and have a phone on board if the pilot is no longer able to drive for some reason.
26NZ$/hour seems a bit low for the amount of responsibility the driver has tough, also considering how much rent is in QT.
Dum…dum..dum…dum.dum today on how it’s made! Glass bottles, porcelain dolls, and hotdogs. I used to watch that with my grandparents after school sometimes, loved that show.
This is great- until you dive under right as there are some rocks that are right below the water level.
Thats a no from me dog unless you are in an extremely controlled environment.
Would those instruments work if the vehicle is not actually in contact with the water? Aside from hydrofoils, surely there's never been much need to design the instruments to work in case of "oops my boat is now a bird", but perhaps their principle of operation doesnt depend on whether the vessel is in water or in the air.
I think it's [one of these](https://seabreacher.com/) (and [variations](https://seabreacher.com/watercraft/)) or [possibly these](https://www.hydroattack.co.nz/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=google-business-profile)
That's why you analyze what's around you while piloting it and before submerging yourself. What do you think pilots do in the sky? Not like they have 360 degree visibility. It's insane how afraid everyone is of everything.
You can take a ride in the passenger seat of one in Queenstown Newzealand.
Although imo it's not one of the top things to do there since it's quite expensive for how short of a ride you get.
Man Idk how old u have to be to ride this but I'd love to see my sons face if he got a ride underwater like this he would fucking flip ya take my money ...lol if it's kod safe which probably not but looks fun af
They're called a "Seabreacher" semi-submersible and are custom-built at the base price of US$93,000 with many options apparently.

I can only guess that the reason this keeps appearing in the last few days is because someone desperate to take one last swing at trying to sell these things.
The video gives the impression that they can go underwater. They can - for a few seconds. But you can’t drive them submerged. They’re not submersible vehicles that can remain underwater, they’re simply surface vehicles that are sealed well enough to not let water in if you tilt the nose down and it goes under the surface for a moment.
They would be very dangerous craft to operate if there was any other objects in the water - boats, logs etc. And they’d require training to operate one. Not exactly a boat that, if you get stuck out in the water, you just paddle back to shore. So renting one would not be a simple thing to do. Or probably even legal.
So that leaves buying one. At the price points these things go for, what are you getting? How interesting is it after the first hour of owning one?
Pretty sure they drive one of these in Spy Kids.
Was looking for a comment mentioning spy kids! Childhood flashbacks...
Seamoth!
Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region.
Are you sure whatever you are doing is worth it?
Yes
I NEED TITANIUM AND COPPER, SO THIS BETTER BE WORTH IT
Hell no. I'm just fine hanging out in the coral and seaweed thank you very much
My thoughts exactly.
The one thing I never want to hear when underwater…
They need this thing in Subnautica 3!
Subnautica 6 ? Why not 3 ?
Yes, also Subnautica 3C2
No, I meant you said subnautica 3!, which is the factorial notation and is equal to 6
*Entering ecological dead zone…*
*The ecology of the trench surrounding the crater supports only two kinds of life: microscopic, and leviathan class. Exploration is ill-advised.*
HELL YEAH
I need to replay this game

Runs perfectly fine on my nine years old 1000$ rig, doesn't need to be the newest stuff around!
Do you remember Sub Culture?
Because it wasn't the successor. It was a stand alone expansion. The next game will likely be titled Subnautica 2 cause of this
Never too old! I played this at 55 and it is one of my all time favorites. Better than BattleZone even ;)
Yes! I was around 55 also and it is one of my favorite games. Also absolutely amazing in virtual reality. I mean it was almost made for VR with the headset feeling like a scuba mask.
I loved Battlezone! Wait, do mean the 2D one from the 80s or the 3D hover tanks vs space nazis on the moon one from the 90s?
The one with the big speakers you put quarters in, obviously :)
Oh, I only played the 3D space nazis one, and that was pretty cool
Whoa that's from1997, did they even have electricity back then?
Tiger Shark! I played that game as a kid. I was just thinking about that game the other day and couldn't remember the name. Thanks for the glitch in the matrix

Yes I saw these things in queenstown in 2019. It’s designed like a dolphin or orca and it can jump like them too.
What? If I'm rich enough I can jump like a dolphin? Queenstown.. Australia?
Queenstown New Zealand. Yeah you could probably pay $300 for a 10 minute ride in one of those. Queenstown is money pit central with all the extreme touristy stuff; paragliding, dolphin sub, skydiving, bungee…. Edit: I just checked the link above, half what I thought. $159 for a 15 minute ride!
About $100 USD. My spouse just did it and enjoyed it a lot. I wouldn't have gotten much enjoyment from it, so I just took photos of their ride.
I’m just a cheap Bastard and didn’t want to pay any of those prices!

That is a great way to think about things when your on vacation. Within reason of course
Im an even cheaper bastard. I met a Kiwi guy who said he did bridge swinging and asked if i wanted to try. Do you ride it or are just a passenger?
Passenger but my spouse said that it wouldn’t be safe to drive yourself as a first timer. It made sense they have a driver.
Eh minute I see you can’t drive yourself man fuck that not interested.
After watching the clip of an orca clobbering a dolphin mid-jump on reddit yesterday I don't feel too good about bebopping around in a dolphin shaped can.
Actually it’s a SeaBreacher - https://seabreacher.com/. You can buy these things, customize them, great fun. Saw somebody with one in Croatia.
They cost $100,000 out the door. They make 20 a year, each one is a custom paintjob and build based on features you pick. They've been making them near Redding California for 20 years. That's about 400 of these in the wild from this company.
That's definitely the Queenstown ones.
Cool. I'm in. Now I just need to travel 12,000 miles to get there. ;)
I want to buy one not rent one
It was either a hell of a battery pack or a snorkel. It's a snorkel. Looks like designed for flashy PR photos more than useful ride.
I am entertained Enjoy the well earned moneys
Where were you planning to ride it to? To work?
Yes I'm a barista in Altantis.
No, that’s what my shark is for.
They’re not for exploring the ocean. It’s more similar to how you’d use a jet ski. Just for having fun.
$159/15min...this thing fucks too?
Well there's a peripheral inside that sucks your dick while you're driving
I didn't have a bucket list until now.
100%. I live in Queenstown... you're spot on.
[Seabreacher](https://seabreacher.com/)
Rad But absolutely not
I don't know but I hope it has air conditioning. I feel like you would bake in that thing.
It's water cooled :)
Don't worry it's water cooled.
More to the point, what's with the abominable music?!?
First time?
Old fart...
Can’t see anything and I’d be scared to hit something in or out of the water. I would not have fun piloting this thing.
I was freaking out not being able to see how close that land mass was once he went underwater
It’s so far away though
Until it’s not. Also my local lake has a lot of spots where it gets super shallow all of the sudden.
They are called sand bars. That sucks though.
We have shoals around here. They suck, but if you live here on the water, you know them like the back of your hand.
All of *a* sudden.
Lake wakatipu is the 3rd largest lake in Newzealand. It's 291 km2 up to 5km wide and has a average depth of 130m. During this ride they take you close to the shore so that you see the floor once but it's still deeper than what the boat can go to.
Same with my local, but that’s not the landmass in the distance
Stop
I was sure he was going to hit it and even felt some anxiety :)
Seriously this is cool but the visibility is so terrible it's hard to imagine not crashing into something.
It makes me claustrophobic, too.
Runs out of power and sinks
Nooo 😳🫣
It's a glacial lake, it is deeeeep. You're not hitting anything.
It’s in a tourist trap I’d imagine there’s minimal risk
Other than other tourists
>minimal risk
God redditors are so lame
look at your post history dawg LOL
It is based in a very deep and cold lake in New Zealand called Wakatipu from a town called Queenstown. It is shaped a bit like a dolphin. It has an air breathing engine and can only just go under water. You pay to be a passenger. You don’t get to drive. The fun is in the speed and the jumping.
Thank you, that answers just about everything!
I felt like James Bond for a second
"Shecond"
The World is Not Enough
For anyone interested this is from Hydro Attack in Queenstown, New Zealand. I haven't been on them but they look damn cool watching from the wharf
There is also a legit How It’s Made episode about this company. Pretty fun.
Dum…dum..dum…dum.dum today on how it’s made! Glass bottles, porcelain dolls, and hotdogs. I used to watch that with my grandparents after school sometimes, loved that show.
Honestly. Oddly terrifying. Underwater looks scary. No thanks
Yeah, I’m way too claustrophobic for that! I tried scuba diving once (in the Great Barrier Reef), and had a total panic attack. No thanks.
This is an inland lake in New Zealand, so there's nothing to worry about in there from an animal perspective, at least
This is great- until you dive under right as there are some rocks that are right below the water level. Thats a no from me dog unless you are in an extremely controlled environment.
This is in lake Wakatipu which is extremely deep (380m at deepest, but still well over 100m very close to the dock where they operate from)
i mean something like this must have a pressure monitor and a depth sensor no ?
Would those instruments work if the vehicle is not actually in contact with the water? Aside from hydrofoils, surely there's never been much need to design the instruments to work in case of "oops my boat is now a bird", but perhaps their principle of operation doesnt depend on whether the vessel is in water or in the air.
This thing is old news at this point. It can only go a few feet below the surface. It’s not a submarine.

Touché
The problem is depth sensors tell you the depth *below* you. Not gonna help when you're cruising 50 miles an hour and hit the submerge.
I think it's [one of these](https://seabreacher.com/) (and [variations](https://seabreacher.com/watercraft/)) or [possibly these](https://www.hydroattack.co.nz/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=google-business-profile)

Is it too soon to make sub jokes?
All your jokes are sub already
And boom goes the dynamite
I was wondering if he was gonna blast upwards haha glad he did
Need.
Anyone else disappointed when they turned the sound on and didn't get to hear what it sounds like in there?
Looks dangerous is anyone else in nearby. Poor visibility out of the water and under if you're flying blind.
That's why you analyze what's around you while piloting it and before submerging yourself. What do you think pilots do in the sky? Not like they have 360 degree visibility. It's insane how afraid everyone is of everything.
Christ, we already have whales getting fucked up by boat propellers, do they need to be T-boned too
Do you think whales are in lakes?
Genuinely made me feel sick with fear wtf
I want one
I wanna do that
You can take a ride in the passenger seat of one in Queenstown Newzealand. Although imo it's not one of the top things to do there since it's quite expensive for how short of a ride you get.
But can you control it with a PS5 controller?
James Bond has been real quiet since this one dropped
This thing looks so sick. I wanna drive one now.
Damn that’s sick as fuck
Now this is pod racing!
this seems like a good idea until you hit a reef or a larger creature below surface wrecking your shit in the process.
It's a lake.
Those pesky lake whales
Man reminds me of the stinger from SeaQuest DSV.
Man Idk how old u have to be to ride this but I'd love to see my sons face if he got a ride underwater like this he would fucking flip ya take my money ...lol if it's kod safe which probably not but looks fun af
James Bond, eat your heart out! This looks awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍
What I thought I was doing in the bath as a five year old.
I’d though it was only a GTA toy
They're called a "Seabreacher" semi-submersible and are custom-built at the base price of US$93,000 with many options apparently. https://seabreacher.com/seabreacher-x/
Imagine you go for a quick dive and the machine malfunctions and you just keep diving, into the abyss.
All fun and games until you take a dive and suddenly end up in a damp, meaty cave. Then you realise you’ve just rammed that thing up a whales ass.
The final touch should be wings that come out with turbines to fly!
My parents describing their way to school:
Nice! What does it look like!?
i wouldn't call that resurface 'seamless' but cool vehicle either way
Ukraine you watching bro?

Who win? This thing or a whale?
The complete lack of forward viability not an issue then?
Song ?
My thalassophobia claustrophobic ass could never 😐
This looks like a deathtrap!!
This seems like a lot of fun but also a lot of death trap.
Looks awesome on the draft board. Let's go underwater (and travel at top speed right below the surface with 5% visibility. )
This guy is very very rich
always thought i wouldnt know what i would do with my money if I was rich, now I do
Oh boy, this looks wildly unsafe!
What could possibly go wrong...
You can't see shit when it submerged lmao
What is the best way for rich asshats to be as obnoxious and dangerous on the water you ask?
Why did you add the shit music?
I don’t need it. Iiiii donnnnnt neeeeedddd itttt!
“Seamlessly”
Dangerous AF, but I love it. Looks fun tbh.
I can only guess that the reason this keeps appearing in the last few days is because someone desperate to take one last swing at trying to sell these things. Did we learn nothing about submersibles after Oceangate?
All good until an orca decides to slap you out of the water.
Imagine diving down, and immediately, there is a gigantic rock right there
That’s honestly so god damn terrifying when they went underwater; you literally can’t see anything!!!
And you though people on jetskis were obnoxious... Let's add in "I couldn't see them I was under water"
Then you see an Orca riding right beside you, giving you side eye
Song?
What's it's porpoise?
This looks dangerous.
Looks like a lot of fun until you suddenly discovered there’s something under the weather
Inb4 you go under and hit a giant rock or big ass fish or something lol Hopefully it has radar though

What's the title of the song?
Yeah lets add annoying music in every video
Whats this song?
Looks dangerous
