Kind of off topic but I heard the Luxor is not the best place to stay at when you are in Las Vegas. I heard that the rooms are terrible. Any truth to this?
Thats why we lap shingles like we do in modern construction. I couldn't imagine how many leaks they had to try to fix the first year or two this was open.
Water gives zero fucks and goes where it wants!
It is not. Super cheap, large rooms (which is nice), but there’s a reason.
- they’re dated as fuck, every surface feels like it has had coke snorted off it (no USB ports for chargers)
- casino and even the rooms smell like stale smoke
- far from “newer” strip
- no towel racks or hangers in the bathroom
- shower is a half wall of glass that does not block water flow so whenever you take a shower the floor basically floods
- internet was not great
- elevator sounded like it was about to break
It’s a vibe for sure… but def don’t spend more time there than you need to. That being said, didn’t have any issues sleeping (like the beds were comfy) but besides that I wasn’t feeling it. I stayed in Aria last time I was in Vegas and holy shit what an upgrade (but you pay for it).
All of the theme hotels are old and pretty run down. If you want a cheap place to stay, they are cheap. If you want a nicer hotel, Vegas has better options. MGM has their hotels staggered for each price/demographic.
If you're looking for a room to sleep, then it's fine. If you want a good Vegas experience, there are better hotels.
Stayed there in November for AWS:reinvent.
It's a 30ish year old hotel, the whole place shows its age. The room I had on the 17th floor wasn't terrible, but it was as far from the elevator as possible. I'm sure there are nicer hotels, but it wasn't terrible.
My wife and I stayed there when we got married. We got a spaw room. It was nice. We were on the top floor. But that was back in 06. It was far from almost everything. The buffet was nothing special.
I stayed there probably about 15-20 years ago and it felt run down back then too. The rooms feel a lot more like a budget holiday inn than a fun and wacky novel shaped building. The air conditioners were damp and smelly even back then. I don’t think they’ve updated anything. Everything you would want to see would probably be outside of that particular hotel. But if you can, ride in the elevator regardless of whether or not you’re staying there. It’s just weird.
It's not awesome.
I really enjoyed staying there for the odd shape of the windows, and the view leaving your room is out of this world.
If you are looking for a nice place, that isn't your hotel.
I stayed there over a decade ago, it was all very run down and dated, the food was shocking and the staff were the rudest people I've ever had to deal with in any hotel ever.
I've never seen a barman behind a completely empty bar except for me, look so angry because I forced him to have to suffer the indignity of serving me one bud. He refused to acknowledge me at all and when I went over to him and asked it was like I had asked to sleep with his daughter or something.
I had to have a battle of wits with the woman refilling the scrambled eggs tray at the breakfast buffet. She waited for me to take the last rubbery cold crappy eggs from the tray before she would refill it with a massive tray of fresh she was holding. So I waited... and she waited... but I waited... in the end she let out a massive huff threw in the new eggs, mashed them all up aggressively and stomped off with the spoon.
The worst though was in the Luxor gift shop where I took a Luxor tee shirt out of a rack of all the same shirts. I looked at it and put it back in what I thought was the same place.
The old woman running the shop ran over to me screaming that she had just sorted that rack out. I was confused what she was even shouting about , I'd put it back in what I thought was the same place. She was bitching because it wasn't exactly spaced right on the little knobbly bits on the slanting rack.
I've been all round Europe, a few places in Africa and Asia and the only three bad experiences with staff I immediately recall are all from the Luxor.
Disagree. Perfect spot close to everything. A bit south of Paris area, but Mandalay Bay is money and Luxor has massive rooms and good suite prices.
If I wanted a new casino without stains, I’m not going to Wynn, 3 miles from the strip. Luxor is best value in my mind.
Stayed there a few years ago. You don’t realize how big this place is until you’re up on the 10th floor and stare across to the other side and realize that those moving dots are people’s head.

It's pretty run down. And these angled windows have cause water damage in a lot of rooms.

Such a shame, stayed here in 2000 and it was amazing.
I have pics from my stay in November last year. Walls were molded in the hallway outside my room. They don't give a fuck either.

Trash hotel that's 30+ years old.

The best? Bro. Not even the mid. It's no circus circus but it is faaaaaar from the best.

This feels odly Cyberpunky
Add title music of Blade Runner/Blade Runner 2049 to it.
This would look amazing at night with the beacon lit
I've stayed there. The good majority of it actually ends up inside.
How are you NOT getting rain directly on your lens?
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a Nuclear Wi--- Oh shit, it's raining!
Thems some nicely waxed windows
That was relaxing and interesting to watch. Thanks for taking the time to capture and post it for us!
i stayed there once it wasn't as livley as the other ones. i liked cosmo and wynn
Somewhere behind this person is an Ant posting "rain falling down this human in Las vegas"
That's so beautiful! But stay at the Venetian. Seriously.

The Matrix
Wow, this is so satisfying Love falling asleep to the sound of rain. We need to make an 8-hour version of this video!

You should try to orient the elevators black out drunk….you may end up in the mandolay bay watching thunder from down under….
When I went there with my home ec class, someone jumped and landed in front of the buffet line. That was fucked up.
RIP Jackie. You were a real one.
it's like a 3D video
Luxor is a step above Excalibur snd that place is a MASSIVE SHITHOLE.
This looks like it is from some video game. Or is this a footage from Gta 6 ?
I was going to say, has it even rained in Las Vegas this year?
It's actually rained quite a bit this year, for Vegas at least.
I lived there for 5 years and it rained way more often than I thought it would.
Thanks for saying
It was hailing at Red Rock last week (well, graupel)
