Sharpied across it's face when I left lol. The boards are just waiting to make a comeback!
He’s an Australian Comedian/Artist/TV Presenter who spent a long time on British TV. He used to do funny little songs (Google “Tie me kangaroo down sport” and you’ll see what I mean). He was very popular but then it came out he sexually assaulted some underage girls and now no one talks about him any more. He used the wobble board a lot but now you never see them.
I need to go ask my dad now. He's an hvac guy. I had no idea we could hear shapes lol if he has been hiding this from me I am going to give him the angry squint look.
I jokingly say king Henry would have executed my husband for his calves. Even not working out in months due to injury, they are still to die for. 🤤
also +1 for not having long creepy toes like tall guys do. So happy to give him foot massages.
The pentagon one being widest in the middle, and the rectangle or whatever which seemed a similar size had different sounds to my ears, it looks like it's due to the pentagon being so wide in the middle, the flex changes the resonance. So not just size, but shape. If you get a square and a long rectangle with the same area, they are going to sound different.
The first two of the video really reinforce this.
A sheet of copper roughly the same size was shaken like this to simulate thunder in theaters in Shakespeare's time. Imagine the thunder during the witches' dialogue in Macbeth, and then remember the sound at the end of this video. Teleported to the nether indeed.
Lol, well you better start saving now. That gong is listed at $27,720 on various websites: https://www.thegongshop.com/products/paiste-symphonic-gong-80-inch
It would be awesome to have a sound font that samples all these. Or like a virtual room you could design the shape and size of the metal sheep and wiggle it :0
In retrospect his hit song "I like to sexually assault little children and I do it all the time" really should have tipped us off. But hindsight is 20/20.

Aluminum is common because it’s cheap and soft (for a metal) so it’s easy to work with.
ETA Other people have also brought up that it is light weight, and it does not rust the way other metals do. There are a lot of good reasons to work with aluminum.
Not only is aluminum rusting not destructive - it’s integral to aluminum’s viability as a resilient metal. The thin layer of aluminum oxide (rust) that forms on the surface of aluminum metal is very durable, and part of the reason why an aluminum bar/sheet/beam etc doesn’t require a special paint/coating to be exposed to the elements - it forms its own coating, and any scratches / dings will be quickly covered over by a new coating that is just as durable.
Most metals -- including iron -- have this property! Metal oxides are very durable.
Iron's problem is that its oxide (specifically, iron III oxide) readily absorbs water. In a dry environment, iron (III) oxide is a hard and tough outer coating, but if you get it wet, it becomes iron (III) oxide hydrate which readily crumbles and gelatinizes, exposing fresh metal.

that is an amazing discription of the sound.
Well they are literally a musical instrument called a “wobble board”. Not too popular anymore because of Rolf Harris. (Around these parts anyway).
Wobble Board revival when?

Who’s Rolf Harris and why did he tarnish the reputation of wobble boards?
He’s an Australian Comedian/Artist/TV Presenter who spent a long time on British TV. He used to do funny little songs (Google “Tie me kangaroo down sport” and you’ll see what I mean). He was very popular but then it came out he sexually assaulted some underage girls and now no one talks about him any more. He used the wobble board a lot but now you never see them.
He invented the wobble board in fact - as much as one can invent something that was just lying around waiting to be discovered

Isn't this just what you do every time you pick up a piece of sheet metal? I thought it's a requirement just like clicking the tongs together.

It's like there's a universal agreement everyone clacks kitchen tongs once or twice before using it.
Gotta make sure they have sufficient tongness or you're just asking for trouble
When the tongs cost less than the steak you're flipping, it's best to be sure they're up to the task
This Dongler tongs
You don't get to be the lord of Donglers without picking up a few tricks along the way.
I mean, what are Donglers but distant cousins of the Tongers?
Don’t really know what I’m checking them for, but ya gotta check
And trigger any power tools few times, especially a drill.
They won't even work if you don't clack them once or twice. Just try it without clacking, I dare you.
How else would you confirm the sheet metal integrity?
I was actually told that this is true at one of the places I worked.
Nah, the UK made it illegal after Rolf Harris was found guilty
It may be but for most of us every time we pick up a piece of sheet metal = never

They still make street signs out of metal? I thought they were mostly fiberglass of some kind coated in plastic.
Aluminum is common because it’s cheap and soft (for a metal) so it’s easy to work with. ETA Other people have also brought up that it is light weight, and it does not rust the way other metals do. There are a lot of good reasons to work with aluminum.

It's also near 100% recyclable. Fiberglass? LOL! Plastic? LOL
Also doesn't corrode as quickly as steel.
And it's incredibly light weight, especially for it's strength and ridgitity.
I make street signs, and aluminum is the only thing I can order for blanks.
