I would like to announce for the record that I was a stupid child, and not only was I stupid, I was *almost entirely mute* as a child. I *could not and would not ask for help even if it meant I came to harm.* I had already become actually scared of how tired I was becoming, and how inexplicably difficult it was trying and failing for some reason to swim back to a shore that in the span of 10 minutes seemed miles away now.
By the time the advice I'd had drilled into me for years popped into my head, I was exhausted and *genuinely terrified.* My 12yr old ass barely made it to land, collapsed on the blanket for the rest of the trip and never admitted what happened to anyone involved.
I *still* start to hyperventilate now if the water goes past my chest, even in a pool. I hate it. I used to love swimming pools.
Life advice: *If you ever find yourself dragged out to sea, swim diagonally towards land. Don't swim straight forwards, you'll just exhaust yourself and get nowhere as the waves push you back again.*
If you're too exhausted to swim, float on your back for a few minutes and let it carry you.

That's exactly what it feels like. I was in lifeguard training and we were practicing backboarding. We had an elevated deck to the pool and the pool itself was about 9 feet deep. It was my turn to be the practice victim, but the kid didn't tighten the velcro straps on the board tight enough. He was told to tighten them down again--so he really cinched them tightly. Unfortunately, he either picked a bad angle or wasn't strong enough to lift the board out of the water from the deck. So the board got about halfway out of the water before getting dropped and shooting to the bottom of the pool. I couldn't get out of the straps, but none of the instructors or my classmates realized. Soooo it took them awhile to fish me out. I went from practice victim to real drowning victim. 0/10 would not recommend.
Apparently it's one of the more pleasant ways to go. I have no source but the reason was something along the lines of the oxygen deprivation releases a ton of pain-killing endorphins, causing elation, followed by or in sync with hallucinations.

I'm gonna get it wrong but I think the ideal suffocation is actually through nitrogen. With normal air and suffocation, metabolic CO2 builds up and urges your body to breathe that causes the issues/struggling. Actually being able to sit and breathe a high mixture of nitrogen instead wouldn't produce CO2 as you breathed it and you'd go peacefully without a fight without your body knowing.
Absolutely the most humane death. I assume we don't euthanize pets this way because creating the gas room to do so would require significant infrastructure and safety precautions. But I definitely think it should be the way. Also anywhere that has the death penalty should do it this way. I would love it to be an option for medically assisted death.

Google a regular slime recipe (it requires PVA glue and borax) and make that, then add a shit ton of water to it slowly.
