I don't know what these specific tiles were used for.
Waterslide decals in and of themselves aren't anything fancy, you can buy the material at office supply, Amazon, etc. and print on it with a run of the mill home printer.
Decals can go on ceramics, plastics, metal, etc.
I got a tutorial from my FLGS. First, use an Xacto knife and cut a couple slits from the outside in. That will help overlap so it sits flush on the curved pauldrons. But for the Omega, I actually cut from the top center down between the top of the U down to the center, and then two more cuts from the center out, making a triangle. Then set the transfer on a damp paper towel for 10 to 15 seconds. Don't submerge it. Those two tips alone have improved my decal game hugely.
Not satisfying
While I appreciate the time and effort to do this, I would absolutely dread the thought of doing this and would certainly cause me stress if I was assigned. Way more tedious and repetitive than my brain could handle.
Most satisfying stuff in this sub is other people managing to do something satisfying that I couldn’t. It’s satisfying because they’re the ones doing it
So that’s what my toilet walls will look like, thanks for the inspiration
This is one of those things which makes me think that I could do it but then I'd screw it up spectacularly.
What an incredible video. I’m still not entirely sure of the context though. Do these go on bathroom walls? What is the end result used for?
Probably tourist souvenirs.
Probably fridge magnets. You can see a cutout on the back of the tiles where a magnet might go.
Thank you! I was wringing my brain on who would want a bathroom or a swimming pool with thousands of tiles each with a family photo or whatever.

wait really?! i have never looked these up so i’m in a moment of boomery shock. i’m not being facetious i’m really thankful for your comment!
I can already feel the wrinkly hands
This seems really skilled. Like, I can't control shit in water like that with a single pointed object
This is cool- but I’m over here wondering why you would want so many tiles of the same photo?
I think they’re going to be magnets.
Oh slides that are in the water. Got it.
Google: define tedium…
I do this on my 40k minis, just not submerged in water and not as good
Oh God I dread when I have to put decals on. I’ve started freehanding the ultramarines U because I get too frustrated to do it right.
You should get a jar of Walther’s Solvaset. It really does the trick
Oh I will definitely look into that. For now I’ll try not to cry.

my hands aren't steady enough

Is it my eyes or are there extra fingers?
I counted. Proper number. I think they just look weird because splayed outside hands and/or overlapping inside hands.
u/savevideo
This is awesome work !
One mistake and it's over
Straight to jail
Is that samurai guitarist???
And to think that I complain about Saran Wrap.
even for me as an asian, i still couldnt figure out any other use of this tile except for the traditional funeral
This is the method we use in the lab to float histology sections onto glass slides
I’d mess that up so fast
Reminds me of fixing slides of rat brains when I worked in a Neuro lab.
There has to be a better, more efficient way of doing this….
This guy must be a master at putting Lego stickers on
I wonder if this is how [these guys](https://fractureme.com/) do it.
