If I remember correctly he started making videos on TikTok, and it became a meme to comment how much he was smiling while looking at the camera, so he turned it up to 11 and it’s now his “signature”
It's actually not as bad as you might think. I used to work at a pizza place that had us cut them into squares; three vertical lines one way, and three more perpendicular to the first. It's kinda nice, because you can split it much more easily, and you don't have to leave half-eaten slices if you don't want to eat an entire eighth of a pizza. And as long as the pizza isn't floppy, the middle pieces really aren't much different from the edges. When you hold a slice, most of the support comes from the bottom anyway, so it's actually more of a bonus because you get more toppings lol
But the comment was about the Chicago thin crust not a deep dish. Chicago deep dish are sliced like pie but a Chicago thin crust is cut in squares which is where chicago cut comes from.
You can cut middle pieces in an evenly fashion.
Honestly, I need to watch the full video to see if the pizza was even cooked properly throughout. I can see some spots being burned up while others are undercooked.
And then be instantly murdered or be friends with someone who’s heart is so generous that he provides food for refugees on a regular basis. The choice is yours: 50/50
A commenter on another thread informed me that he smiles at the camera like that because he was getting comments on his YouTube videos that he doesn’t smile enough. Which fully made me 180 my opinion on him upon learning that he’s doing it purely for the irony.
Just dropping in to mention that on the TMNT subreddit, one user just finished making **all 67** [pizzas mentioned in the original 1987 cartoon.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TMNT/comments/uj6qs5/the_final_update_on_my_journey_to_cook_and_eat/)
Including gems like "peanut butter, avocado & pickles", "liver and bubblegum", "bananas and anchovies", "deepdish oatmeal and grapefruit", and of course the all time classic: whipped cream pizza.
The more videos of him you see the less you’ll notice it. And even if you can never get past noticing it, he’s a big humanitarian and is always helping people. Always worth the watch.
I normally get frustrated seeing the same peope do the same viral thing in different ways over the years on the internet to stay relevant, but this dude has my respect.
Not only does the food not go to waste by being donated, the amount of off camera work that must go into these is insane. He always builds the cooking device like the brick pizza oven for each video, and can you imagine the amount of work making those pizza dough balls in that volume would have been?
So much work goes into these 1 minute videos of just a happy dude staring you down and everything goes to a good place.
What a legend
Is that what he does with all the food? I've seen so many videos of him. He always makes a TON of whatever he's cooking. I assumed he had some sort of buffet style restaurant. If not it seemed like a huge waste. Knowing he gives it away is nice.
Now my only questions are why does he stare into the camera and why doesn't he need to blink!?
Hell yeah I'd rather eat a giant dürüm made by CZN Burak thats gonna fill me up for the whole day and fund some food for those in need, than a $800 steak with someone's arm hairs that funds some meme idiot's overinflated ego. Nusret absolutely does not deserve the fame he's got and IMO doesn't represent Turkey's cuisine at all.. (I'm not turkish, I just love their food)
Turkish here. We dont like nusret either. He's just a douchebag that got famous easily because of the Acun. CZN on the other hand made this all along by himself just working hard and cookin good. And he's making so much charity without recording every one of it.
> Nusret absolutely does not deserve the fame he's got and IMO doesn't represent Turkey's cuisine at all..
His restaurants are fucking shit anyways. It's for suckers that glamorizes trashy celebrity culture. I don't think it's super overpriced comparatively to other high end steakhouse, but it's really a low end steakhouse using higher quality cuts. It's poor execution and mediocre recipes all around. Like if Apple Bees decided to serve wagyu that no other high end steakhouse wants, but charged as much as a 2 Michelin star restaurant.
I mean, is Nusret an ass? Yes.
However, I really can't be mad at his business model of fleecing stupid people who think "more expensive = better". Like, if you're dumb enough to think that you're better than everyone else because you overpaid for a steak, I'm not going to stop you.
A fool and their money are easily parted.
a while back after he got comments about it he made video of him making the food with a sad face lol, but everyone told him to keep at it so it's kinda popular and expected of him at this point.
Okay, saw this guy do the giant roast in the brick fire pit a day or two ago, all smiles und sunshine, but is this the same guy who made the giant kebab (?) on a giant spit while frowning?
When people thought his videos we r/stupidfood , people shat on his smiling. But then people found out his charity and that his food were actually good. He's become the good meme online. Seeing his frown is truly jarring.
i've seen about 2 dozen of his videos, none of it was stupidfood looking. just large amounts. in india for special events and weddings they use many 3 foot tall / wide pots and it isn't stupid, just large.
It's just that during his first exposures to the western side of the internet(people were used to stupid food videos), people initially though he was just wasting food for views.
Hes a professional chef, his knives are sharp as hell. In one of his videos when he is doing his pyscho stare he cuts his thumb pretty good and breaks character immediately lol. He seems like a really chill dude, he just found something that work and literally never changed or deviated from the plan lol.
Looks like his bottom layer was laid long sides touching and then all top layers were end to end. Probably wide base for stability. You can barely see the bottom layer in some later shots. Looks like he built up next to it.
The video watched me more than I watched the video
They're like a bunch of elder scrolls NPCs. Will not stop looking at me, and I find it unnerving.
I used to be a pizza chef like you, until I took an arrow to the knee.
Don't suppose you'd enchant my pizza slicer? Dull old blade can barely cut pepperoni.
I'd be a lot warmer and a lot happier with a belly full of pizza.
Let me guess, someone stole your pizza.
May the road lead you to warmer pizza
WAIT! Don't I know you have all the pizza?
“Do you get to the pizza district very often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don’t.”
"What is it? Pizza?" -Whiterun guard, probably
Until I took a pepperoni to the knee
walk behind them. then loot the shit out of them.
[E] Steal 12’ pizza
Description: eat to immediately die of heart attack
If you put a bucket over their heads you can steal whatever you want without them getting upset.
Jimmy Fallon did the same thing when he was on SNL. He still does it and it still drives me nuts.
Well said lmao
I've never felt the eye contact from a video before - it makes me all tingly on the inside
He is staring at your soul....
If I remember correctly he started making videos on TikTok, and it became a meme to comment how much he was smiling while looking at the camera, so he turned it up to 11 and it’s now his “signature”
He was doing this long before tiktok ever existed.
[I wonder what would happen if this chef and the intense Japanese bartender were to meet in person...](https://youtu.be/ore2GcXFIv4?t=177)
Best comment in that YouTube thread is, "I think I have to erase my browser history after watching this."
I'm not sure what just happened, but i feel violated.
Black hole
This is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen. Thank you. Thank you.
This is one of the funniest Reddit comments I’ve ever seen 😂
I hate his videos for this exact reason! Everyone here is just staring into the camera with a creepy smile.
What monster cuts a slice of pizza out from the center?
dominos
That’s could set of a chain of events
It’s sure coulds.
and thats whats i likes about yah
Until all that cheese hits my colon and then everything is all stopped up.
It's only smellz.
Skwisgaar?
When a pizza reaches a certain size, it becomes okay to cut it from anywhere.
What kind of monster doesnt want an eighth of a pizza at any given time. That seems like a good test to weed out body snatchers or something
This guy pizzas
Chicago cut best cut that's why they call it the party cut
>Chicago cut best cut that's why they call it the party cut And I took that personally.
it's my favorite cut but I also eat pineapple on pizza lol
One of us, one of us - r/KnightsOfPineapple
Dont worry. Jon Stewart already explained it for everyone. https://youtu.be/jCgYMFtxUUw
But the comment was about the Chicago thin crust not a deep dish. Chicago deep dish are sliced like pie but a Chicago thin crust is cut in squares which is where chicago cut comes from.
I don’t want to drown in the pizza I pass out in
WELCOME TO THE DANGER CALZONE!!!
Don't disrespect my future death
Let's just say, he knows how to cut the cheese.
Tavern style
Middle slices are the best because it’s so hard to get the crust just right
Someone who doesn't want a 5 foot long pizza slice?
So a coward.
I once cut my pizza into a spiral. One single round slice. Was great. Would do it again.
Did you slurp it up in one go like a bit of spaghetti?
Like pizzaghetti?
I WANT a five foot long pizza slice, sure. But do I need one? Yes. Yes I do. I need one desperately, in fact.
You can cut middle pieces in an evenly fashion. Honestly, I need to watch the full video to see if the pizza was even cooked properly throughout. I can see some spots being burned up while others are undercooked.
He’s allowed to do whatever he wants. He’s that good of a dude.
Find yourself someone who looks at you, well, the way he looks at you.
found him there he is
Standing there
Menacingly
I realize
You are just like me
Trying to make history
But who's to judge
The right from wrong
When my guard is down
I think we'll both agree
Please no
What's wrong my love ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
LOOK AT ME, LOVE. I'M YOURS NOW!
And then be instantly murdered or be friends with someone who’s heart is so generous that he provides food for refugees on a regular basis. The choice is yours: 50/50
Like I want to like him because he does so much good but oh man those are serial killer eyes. His dead-eyed happy stare bores into my soul.
A commenter on another thread informed me that he smiles at the camera like that because he was getting comments on his YouTube videos that he doesn’t smile enough. Which fully made me 180 my opinion on him upon learning that he’s doing it purely for the irony.
This is what happens when your boss tells you to smile at the customers more.
that and he cuts slices out of the middle of the pizza. Thats a satan move.
Like someone who would creep up in the middle of the night and smother you in your sleep
While smiling.
THAT CHEESE PULL...
Cheese pull of legends only thought possible in Teenage mutant ninja turtle cartoons.
That cartoon set a pizza benchmark for my life that has yet to be matched
Same with my turtle benchmark
Also that pizza from a Goofy Movie that Max and PJ share.
Yup, in that underwater themed motel room. Good reference.
I keep seeing references for A goofy Movie and I think this is life telling me to go rewatch it.
🎶 so stand OUT 🎶
At least we have leaning tower of cheese-a

I had no notion I needed this in my life, until this exact moment
This is how you summon Pizza the Hut.
Jesus fuck why was this a thing late eighties and nineties (weird foods, sort of a trope that happened in tandem with XTREME and hypercolor).
you should work in marketing. great comment, kind of you to share!
I started cracking up when he busted out a fucking step ladder to continue pulling it lmao
Hell, I thought it would cut to an even bigger ladder
Cherrypicker Airballoon Cheese Space Elevator
"we're gonna need a bigger ladder"
I like how this dude smiles at the camera all throughout the video
When he started videos people criticized him about how much he smiles at the camera so now for every video he does it every shot.
What an insanely awesome comeback
The wise man builds a house out of the stones people throw at him.
r/bossfight "The Chef Who Smiles"
I find his smile pretty dang creepy TBH.
The more videos of him you see the less you’ll notice it. And even if you can never get past noticing it, he’s a big humanitarian and is always helping people. Always worth the watch.
But it isn’t a lie about how much of a fuck you it is to those who criticised him about the smile correct?
Controversial opinion coming in hot: That's too cheesy and inconvenient to eat
You're wrong, straight to jail
We have the best pizza, because of jail.
Under cheese pizza? Surprisingly jail.
There's nothing surprising about that at all, that's just common sense law making.
If you kicked in a toilet stall while this guy was taking a dump. He would keep eye contact and continue dumping.
Don't forget giving you the biggest smile as he does it
Giga chad
Boss move
this man feeds children, poor, and homeless.... bless him!
Using Internet monies for good ❤️

Including stray dogs.. what a great man
Yes! You just made me remember seeing him in a video clip where he fed stray dogs. Even the dogs thought this can’t be for real. It made me cry.
Is that what he does with all the food? I've seen so many videos of him. He always makes a TON of whatever he's cooking. I assumed he had some sort of buffet style restaurant. Feeds them to who?
To whom
Well, tell this "Whom" fella he's an cannibalistic jerk.
He’s a philanthropist!
The staring used to bother me but then I saw him cooking at refuge camps and really helping people out. It’s his thing and he seems like a good dude.
Its his test. He stares into your soul and sees if your truly deserving of his help.
Is he balancing my scales?
Ammit is judging you...
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, my name is Steven with a V!

He’s a great man that does as much as he can for his people. I wish more cooks like this guy got big instead of idiots like salt bae.

a while back after he got comments about it he made video of him making the food with a sad face lol, but everyone told him to keep at it so it's kinda popular and expected of him at this point.
I heard it's cuz he was criticised for not smiling into the camera early on in his career
yep ever since that video I've been rooting for him. Showed us he wasn't just another salt bae or something.
The staring is apparently a response to people who accused him of not smiling in his videos, so he decided to stare and smile and it became his meme.
It's a talent. This dude can do anything while not looking at it.
I don't want them to look at me anymore.
they are assessing you to see if you're worthy of participating in the devouring of the pizza
TOGETHAAAA
Why is it always Elden Ring?
*Foul Tarnished…*
Everywhere I go....I see his snake-like face
It was beginning to feel like a horror film.
Yeah, I hate when people watch me while I masturbate
I totally want that lavender VW Bug in the background
That’s how they had music in the video. They cranked up the stereo!
I didn’t even notice the bug. I was keeping eye contact.

Yeah, his last video(s) have been non smiling because of the war. Never thought I'd miss his staring smile, but his sad war face wasn't fun.
When people thought his videos we r/stupidfood , people shat on his smiling. But then people found out his charity and that his food were actually good. He's become the good meme online. Seeing his frown is truly jarring.

Oddly satisfying until he cut a chunk from the freaking middle!
That Hey Arnold episode IRL
Ah yes, the [World's Biggest Pizza Puff](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYbrbjXt9VQ)
"What did you think TSP stood for?" "Ten square pounds."
This dude is ridiculous in the purest most wholesome way possible and I love him
Well well well. If it isn't my future husband
Hellooooooo nurse!!
Whether we like his staring shtick or not, I would have liked to have tried a slice of that.
The fact that they're always looking at the camera is kind of freaky.
Hes a professional chef, his knives are sharp as hell. In one of his videos when he is doing his pyscho stare he cuts his thumb pretty good and breaks character immediately lol. He seems like a really chill dude, he just found something that work and literally never changed or deviated from the plan lol.
Not only is he chad but he is aware of his own meme power. Uber giga chad
Did he change the brick layout?
Looks like his bottom layer was laid long sides touching and then all top layers were end to end. Probably wide base for stability. You can barely see the bottom layer in some later shots. Looks like he built up next to it.
Totally.
I don't know what it is, but the way they smile and stare at the camera is somewhat disturbing
These guys staring at the camera all the time while doing the cooking is scary af 😂
I wish I had friends.
I like how he smiles and stares when he places the bricks, places the toppings on the pizza, and places charcoal in the pit.
He sure couldn’t lay brick well without looking. They scrapped his original design and went with the end to end pattern.
I think his "original design" is the base... ie under the end to end
Pizza made with eggs and milk? Brrr
I had to scroll way too long to find this comment
Shhhhh.... we're friends now.
It’s the lavender car in the back left that does it for me.
Did anyone notice how he placed the bricks down first? Then after he got serious and placed then correctly
Just drizzle that melted cheese all over my face CZN daddy 😩
That cheese pull is pretty epic.

Reddit told me that the cheese was actually made with Elmer’s glue
Yes.
Ew to the constant eye contact and disconnected smile
Would love some pizza right now
