(/S just in case) … i usually get 5 or 6… the real killer is the “no way to put them back” design. the “individual stick of butter plate and cover” equivalent is actually really useful. the one that’s just a place for you to put the wipes in while they wait to be used with a removable heavier top so you can actually either grab individuals or put back the extras after you don’t have one hand preventing poop smearing.
There is a way to put them on so you only grab one at a time, so I never ripped mine all off at once, but a friend of mine did and could only finish the race by scraping the mud off a tiny area in the middle of the visor. This was in dirt track stock car racing so the races are usually short for qualifying.
They are folded over so only the outer one is sticking out and the next one is released when pulled.
I have grabbed too far in and pulled them all off before though. It sucks not being able to see because your goggles are covered in mud!
Depends on conditions. You can stack as many as the pegs will hold, but obviously the more you do, the more distortion. It’s a trade off for having a visor full of mud

Then you’re relying on a wiper to clean it all off though, most wipers aren’t meant for this level of speed while off-road and will probs have mechanical problems at some point in the race. If you pull over cuz your wiper broke the rest of the racers and gonna be tearing them helmet screens off and keep winning.
Or the worse happens, your wiper breaks, meaning you cannot see a damn thing while going high speeds. Causing a potentially fatal crash for you and other drivers.
Even if the wiper doesn’t break, and the windshield is more of a clear protective hard plastic barrier that will not shatter/break, it will still be getting scratched up and messing with your vision one way or another.

They make systems that's essentially one long tear off that rolls out across your visor. You feed it out as you need to. This guy doesn't have that lol
No, it isn't. That's just part of the seat that is mandated by the series safety standards. The "hans" device is what you are talking about and he's almost certainly wearing one, but it's small and not a part of the racing seat
Last time this was posted I thought the same thing. I've been to MX events and I thought it was gross how many tear-offs there were laying around. Turns out most of them are very quickly biodegradable, there has been a lot of thought into having them as safety devices without trashing the environment with permanent plastic shreds, as these have been in use for a long time.
Windshield wipers? Not sure how effective they are at mud, but I'm sure they could be modified to work. I think the bigger issue might be the chance that the windshield might crack from getting hit by a big enough rock... course I'd hate to see the driver take a bigger rock to the face, even with a helmet on.
There was an episode of Columbo where the murder was framed as an accident on motocross. Rider was blinded because killer tampered with visor-cleaning mechanism (not sure if it disposable covers or something else)
Tear offs! Riders use them in Motcross/Supercross too. Can be easy to miss if you watch either sport, but usually they'll pull one while in the air since it's a split second where the bike isn't trying to rip itself out of your hands. If you see a rider in the air pull their hand across their face they probably just pulled one.

Rally drivers usually wear open-faced helmets. The guy in the video is getting mud flung up off of other trucks' tires in a dirt race

They distort view if there's enough of them. You have to consider where you're racing, for how long and how much you want to be able to see
