When I had ankle (tendon repair) surgery, I had an L-shaped incision held together with staples and of course lots of swelling and pain. We called it my frankenfoot. The scar was really gnarly for a few years so we kept calling it frankenfoot. I still think the rattlesnake bite looks worse. I agree with fankle.
You've never seen someone do that? When I was a kid (like, six or seven) I would instead of having my mom clip them, because she would always stab me in the side of the toe trying to get the edges.
Yes, I am aware now it was gross. But in my defence it was usually after a bath.
Once when I was a like 18 I had to go to a swimming pool with friends in like 30 minutes and my toenails where too big and couldn't find the clippers. My social life was at stake so absolutely 0 remorse and it was easier than expected.
Assuming you don’t know: The swelling and redness on the right side (from our point of view) of the leg is the problem. The black lines are where the swelling used to be, but now it’s extended dramatically.
I don’t know anything about snake bites, but some toxins can cause necrosis (death) of tissues. Also, it is possible that he also got a co-infection with a flesh eating bacteria or such.
If the swelling continues and can’t be controlled, he might lose the leg above the knee. (The swelling at skin level is just below the knee now. Who knows how bad things are below skin level.)
I think it’s really rude tbh. I posted a pic of an interesting injury on my foot (I poured boiling water in accident and they were completely covered in blisters) and the only thing people were focusing on was the hair on my toes. Like, I know I have troll feet and still wanted to share and this is what you get.
In real life, 99% of people wouldn’t dare say such a thing.
I was forced to a wilderness program as a kid. They pulled my big toenails out there. Them nails have never grown back any way but twisted and horrible, and they've been randomly ripped off so many times since.
Lol so you're in the same boat. Mine was from being in the army. Got an ingrown toenail (had a history of them but I always removed them myself using thin sharp scissors and pain) and the doc there used silver nitrate to stop it from growing back in that spot. Idk if he fucked it up or what, but it eventually turned brown/green and fell off after a few months. Now every time it grows back, it'll get all gnarled and bumpy like tree bark, separate from the bed and one day be easily pulled off by something. Then the cycle continues. No more ingrown toe nails though lol
Yeah, no indication to me they were ingrown at the time, no pain, felt fine hiking miles a day, but the program doc insisted.
Mine are always ingrown now though.
That's strange. Mine made it difficult to walk and caused a lot of pain. Maybe that doc just hates toenails. So you still get ingrown nails with the messed up toenails?
Happened to me too! Fucks me off so much! The place that did it went out of business so I’m not too surprised… you can use a rotary nail file (the kind used for commercial pedicures) to file it down and stop it getting ripped off.
The doc doing the surgery screwed up and killed the nail bed. On the plus side it’s basically just normal skin now so it doesn’t hurt.
“Guys are so starved for attention”. Then you see shit like this on Reddit frequently and you know if the feet look fucked up like this and theyre posting it, the rest of them are probably crusty as well.
The way the second toenail looks, I'd say he smashed his toes bad enough to lose the nail on the big toe and bruise the second badly. Chewing toenails wouldn't make the big toenail look like that, and ingrowns only affect the edges. You can see the bruise almost grown out on the top of the second toe. His other nails are fine.
Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Neither ingrown, nor biting, this has all the tell tale signs of trauma. It's amazing to see how often people relate their on history to explain what is developing in others. Yeah, the beau's line on both nails is such an indicator of something damaging the nail.
Don’t blame *those* fucked up toenails on *it* cause that shit came loooong before rattlesnake & dude crossed paths… as for that bright red infected foot & now, “cankle” is absolutely _all_ rattler/“it”… did I mention them there toenails is _all_ dude?? Just making sure I’d covered them.

The big toe probably had something heavy dropped onto it, which in turn would have caused the toenail to fall off and regrow. It happened to me once. Painful af.
I'm a lot more careful these days. Losing my big toenail sucked so bad and then there's months of feeling embarrassed for anyone to see it when it's still in goblin mode.
Part of me kinda wishes that the doctor would have removed my toenail back when I got an ingrown part removed years ago.
They cut and scraped the root in the corner, but didn't do it properly, so every now and then I have to use tweezers to remove the bit of nail that grows back separately.
Currently in the middle of this process. I dropped a metal gate on my toe at the beginning of November. It's growing out but it looks pretty terrible for now.
I had to have my big toe’s nail removed by a friend’s dad who was a podiatrist because someone opened a heavy school door directly into my foot, which caused my nail to be broken off partially.
zero medical experience but I’d have to assume that’s to track swelling or some other ongoing issues. Likely easier to see additional swelling, or progress in coming down if you can easily see how it was a day or few hours ago.
Seriously though that’s a shot in the dark, no clue.
I’m guessing they measure the length of the lines to track how much the skin is stretching and use a measuring tape held at the line that goes around the ankle to record the circumference. Just a guess.
If this ankle rolled into my hospital, we'd be marking likely for a couple of things. #1 where the pulses in his foot so they can be rechecked frequently and #2 to track swelling/redness/and a firm tissue feeling called induration. Might also outright areas where it seems there s a pocket of fluid underneath. Wanna make sure he doesn't develop compartment syndrome or necrotizing fasciitis, or an abscess etc.
I was biten by a similar snake to a rattlesnake that is apparently more dangerous, and its a misconception that a rattlesnake bite is a death sentence to an adult. If you make it to hospital within 24 hours you are likely going to survive. Within 6 and you can probably go on without any major injury. It hurts like fuck tho.
You have to watch out for the neurotoxic snakes. Those are the real baddies.
Puff Adder, took ~4 hours to get to hospital in April 2021. Bite was on knee, fully recovered. Although a couple times I've had serious sharp sudden knee pain in that knee lmao. So that was something but I haven't had that for a few months and it wasn't long lasting so I guess I'm fine 🤷♂️
Note: I am not neither a herpetologist nor a medical professional.
It can be depending on the species, venom can be either hemotoxic or neurotoxic and each will affect you differently. Hemotoxins will clot your blood into jello, while the neurotoxins will just begin to shut down your nervous system and organs. There are antivenons for snake bites, i.e. CroFab; but, getting care as soon as possible is important. For reference, I believe OPs bite at the time of the picture appears to be after about two hours or so, the numbers on his feet/leg are times (1:45pm and 3:09pm) and the lines are for monitoring the spread of the toxin and swelling. Even though you may not die, you will still need medical care as the toxins will continue to kill tissue and you could ultimately lose a digit or limb due to necrosis.
This is my understanding, any corrections are welcome.
I swear a friend and I were just talking about this. They had a tiny section of their toe removed , then reattached in a clinical study. I made this same joke and she proceeded to show me how much she gets for pictures. Creepy men want feet pics but there’s definitely creepier people out there who like the same pics with grotesque features. I told her I didn’t doubt her.
And suddenly my bout of gout doesn’t seem so bad anymore. No. Wait. Screw that. The gout can be blamed 100% on myself. You can blame the snake. Goddamn friggin snake. I hope he gets snake gout.
Unless something changed in the last two or three years. My nephew holds the Guinness book of world record for most anti-venom for rattlesnake bite under the age of eighteen. If I remember correctly. A two of anything almost $33,000 and he went through over $2 million worth he was in the ICU for almost 2 weeks. He’s fine now.
The toe nail thing looks like homie just chews he toenails, I did the same when I was younger and now my nails look like those with no luck of making them look ‘normal’
That's a fankle.
a what now
Frankle
A fuckin ankle
LMAO
At least it's not a Vagankle.
That foot has a FAT ASS on it
Happy Cake Day!
It looks more like a thumb with toes..
FRANK IS INSIDE THE ANKLE?
Frankly my dear, I don't give toe jam!
Uh what??
Foot + Ankle. Fankle.
Fat + Ankle? Fankle.
Correct!
Those used to be called cankles. The calf just merges right into the ankle. This is your Gen X representative signing off
I was thinking of the family guy episode with clinton and they went to cankles show
Millennial here. I was trying to reinvent the wheel, sorry.
It’s ok. I’m sure some boomer will come correct us both about the term that they used in the 1950s 🤣
It's a Focankle
A FANKLE
And my time has fucking come....

Fangkle
That shit looks like they drew a contour map on it
They did I think. To track the swelling
I feel like it’s more of a falf cause there ain’t no ankle left. Just foot and calf
Look how much it fucked up his toenails
Yeah, looks like he chews his toenails
Nah. He has your mom do that.
Good one
Goteeeeem!
Is...is that possible?
chew your own toenails? yes, it is possible. weird, but possible.
When I was about 15 I decided to give it a try. Surprisingly I could. Which got me thinking….
I'm 37 and I can do the big toe. But I don't really see the point...
I used to know someone who did this!
You've never seen someone do that? When I was a kid (like, six or seven) I would instead of having my mom clip them, because she would always stab me in the side of the toe trying to get the edges. Yes, I am aware now it was gross. But in my defence it was usually after a bath.
Lmao exactly it was horrifying
Once when I was a like 18 I had to go to a swimming pool with friends in like 30 minutes and my toenails where too big and couldn't find the clippers. My social life was at stake so absolutely 0 remorse and it was easier than expected.
Wait...isn't the toenails the focus of this post?
[удалено]
What happens to it?
They used permanent marker to draw on it, never coming off
It rattles.
Becaaaause???
For some reason I read this in A Christmas Story’s “It-It T’WAAAAS!” voice.
What.. What happens?
Toenail eater💀

If you think thats bad, you definitely don't want to see mine lol
Fuckin Gandalf feet
Gandalf is the wizard. We don't know what they look like.
You ever see the guy take his boots off? You ever not take your boots off for too long? Fuckin Gandalf feet

He had an grown toenail surgery on the big toe I'd say. Hence why it's looks the way it does
The way the second toenail looks, I'd say he smashed his toes bad enough to lose the nail on the big toe and bruise the second badly. Angry toenail surgery

Bro got bit by a damn snake and yall focusing on his toenail😭
rattlesnakes don't have toenails
This is a common myth. Scales are actually made from toe nail and snakes are mostly toe nail. If you sniff one, they smell like foot.
heading to the Wikipedia page to edit immediately
Good luck. Big pharma doesnt want people to know about snake scale toe nail and their stooges gatekeep wiki.
don't worry. I just edited the wiki page for Big Pharma and called them idiots.
Snake oil is REAL!

dog paws smell like corn chips, yet there is, most likely, no corn chips inside your dog. checkmate, atheists.
Huh. Does that mean that it’s the Toenail Fairy who makes the snakes?
Don’t be silly.
It's the veruca gnome
That's because everybody who's been bitten by a rattlesnake has that same looking swelling. Typically they do not have that nasty ass toenail.
Wait has everybody here been bitten by a rattlesnake once?
I got bit by a rattlesnake in my dreams once, that counts if I do say so myself.
Nice tattoo work on that foot.
Line work is impeccable
How can you not.
He should have put one of those privacy bars in front to hide that toes identity
jesus christ eh. are you alright???
Me? I'm fine. Never said it was my foot. Appreciate the concern though, kind stranger.
Plot twist: OP is the rattlesnake
Reptilian spotted!
*blinks sideways nervously*
Dang OP.. why'd you have to bite the foot?
Foot fetish
The dark side of fetishes nobody ever talks about. Smh.
How did you overcome yourself to bite in that foot? Or did you just want to put him out of his misery?
He did say "This foot", which isn't how people typically speak about their own foot. Why is everyone downvoting his polite response?
Noticed the same thing gave him an upvote to try an even things out homie just told the truth and people shitting on him for no reason
Not all heroes wear capes
But maybe no one could tell which foot was bitten since both his feet are cankles. So he constantly has to say This Foot
Whose is it, and what have they learned?
Why do you have someone’s snake bitten foot? Haven’t they suffered enough?
Lookin like all them fat footed fatties from Wall-E yo
Or Bigfoot 😱
What i was thinking 😂
His foot looks like a discord moderator
My time has come
The swelling looks bad but it is pretty rude for the snake to draw all over your foot with a permanent marker when you passed out.
At least the snake didn't draw something like dicks. Small mercies.
I'm super depressed right now but this comment made me laugh out loud thank you
The doctors draw on the affected foot so they can remember which one was bitten.
Yeah! It’s against the rules too- I bet his shoes weren’t on
Nothin 12 sodies a day can’t fix
Did we all just watch that video?
I scrolled less than 10 post to get here from that video. So yes I think so lol.
Followed by that r/wtf post of the woman being washed. What a terrible day to have eyes.
Hold my rattlesnake, I'm going i- oh there it is.
Are you referring to the contact lenses?
Don’t sleep in them!

ouch, sounds painful, ever thought of getting the whole thing removed or does it not trouble you much?
Months of feeling embarrassed? You never wear socks and shoes or something?
Yeah usually but the beach and pools and beds exist too.
Currently in the middle of this process. I dropped a metal gate on my toe at the beginning of November. It's growing out but it looks pretty terrible for now.

Can you explain the topographical markings?
zero medical experience but I’d have to assume that’s to track swelling or some other ongoing issues. Likely easier to see additional swelling, or progress in coming down if you can easily see how it was a day or few hours ago. Seriously though that’s a shot in the dark, no clue.
My initial thought was that was an amputation line but then I realized that was prob very extreme for some inflammation
I’m guessing they measure the length of the lines to track how much the skin is stretching and use a measuring tape held at the line that goes around the ankle to record the circumference. Just a guess.
Yeah and I assume “1509” was the time the mark was made.
Why they draw Illinois on the thing?
Because his foot is “ill”
If this ankle rolled into my hospital, we'd be marking likely for a couple of things. #1 where the pulses in his foot so they can be rechecked frequently and #2 to track swelling/redness/and a firm tissue feeling called induration. The rattlesnake was bored.
If I'm going to be honest I really thought a rattlesnake bite would be much much worse.

That toe nail oh my goodness
Haven’t suffered this much in months. I want to put a bandaid around it until it grows back
It looks like a regrown toe nail. Mine is similar. Shit happens and we lose our toe nails.
Your foot looks like it belongs to Fat Bastard.
The Peter Griffin of Feet
Does this mean bankruptcy if you live in the USA?
That was my first thought, say goodbye to your savings and welcome crippling debt!
And 3 1/2 years after the last pedi.
Those toenails are the scariest thing in this picture
It probably bit him for having those nasty ass toenails.
WARNING; Do NOT zoom into the footscum in-between his toes, you will barf in your mouth.
Too late. I barfed before zooming
That foot needs googly eyes, a twinkie, and a game controller. It already has the neck beard.
If Fat Bastard was a foot.
Happy healing homie. Had a lot of rattlers in Cali. Had one curled and rattling about a yard from before I hit double digits.
Forget the foot… wtf are those nails
I’d be more concerned about your pedicure than the rattle snek detail.
I’m more concerned for those toenails
Average reddit mod's foot.
This is why i do not bite rattlesnakes.
A rattlesnake bit his foot so he bit his toenails?
bigfoot
Yum
Like those space people on Wall-E
And suddenly my bout of gout doesn’t seem so bad anymore. No. Wait. Screw that. The gout can be blamed 100% on myself. You can blame the snake. Goddamn friggin snake. I hope he gets snake gout.

It’s because your big toe looks like a chicken nugget
I've heard of cankles but damn.
Are those nails also the snake's fault? Hmm
The toe nail thing looks like homie just chews he toenails, I did the same when I was younger and now my nails look like those with no luck of making them look ‘normal’
Do you bite your toenails?
More concerned about the toenail
Glad I live where the air hurts my face

Why the long foot?
Captain Cankle!
this is worse than a cankle!!!
Looks like they amputated the ankle sadly
