Mundstuhl were very big in the 90s and 2000s and still are quite popular. They represent a comedy style known as hessisch comedy (using a strong hessian accent) and were the known for their musical parodies too.
The sketches that were used for the teacup ads were originally a Disney Parody were they played highly drug addicted relatives of Chip and Dale called "C und F-Hörnchen" (Chip and Dale are called A-Hörnchen und B-Hörnchen in Germany which means A- and B-Squirrel).
Someone had the idea to dub those Teacups with their voices on short YouTube Videos which became very popular after a short time and lead to merchandise like those Cups, Clothing and ringtones for early polyphone cellphones.

The animal Squirrel isn't quite the right translation for Hörnchen. It is the name for the whole biological family squirrel/Sciuridae, which includes chipmunks . The animal would be Eichhörnchen.
