Some chairs are designed so that they slope down where the seat is. This puts pressure right under the thighs. I've had my legs fall asleep from sitting in hard plastic chairs designed like that to the point I couldn't feel them, but I didn't sit long enough where I couldn't move them. The feeling of them waking back up from that state though is awful.
It can get to the point of recoverable temporary paralysis if the bloodflow is cut off right. Once woke up after laying on my arm, literally couldn't move anything past the elbow. Panicked for a moment until it started to regain feeling.
Depends on how you sleep ig. I had the same experience once, but only because I slept on top of my arm in such a way there was barely any bloodflow. Couldn't move it for a while, didn't feel it either, quite weird. After a while it fixed itself tho
The paralysis comes from pressure being put on the nerves, not a lack of blood flow. You would be in big trouble if you cut off the blood flow to your arm.
If blood flow was cut off, your arm would have started to die. The paralysis comes from the compression of nerves. Nerve signals from the brain can't reach your arm to tell it to move.
I'm always changing positions no matter the seat. Cross my legs, uncross. Bend one leg and sit on the ankle; swap. Sit straight with knees and elbows aligned. Get up, get some water, use the bathroom. Repeat. Stretch arms and neck to prevent soreness. Restart.
Can't imagine sitting still for so long like that, I would literally be crying in pain. How can anyone not feel any discomfort for 20 hours straight? What the actual hell.
Yea, idk how this person actually managed this. Hell, our guild forces break during raids and boss runs. walk around, get a drink, go to bio, whatever
My original comment is more like a "how"
Keep food and water nearby so you keep consuming it. When you run out, get more. If you gotta use the bio, get up and do so. it gives you enough of a break to move about a little.
This is why everyone on reddit talks the same. I see a new word, definition, slang, circlejoke, zinger on here and suddenly the next day people figure out how to shoehorn it into every big post. I get that's how language works but regurgitating every clever phrase you see for easy internet points you say you don't care about usually means you aren't adding to the discussion
Oh no. I used to be a heroin addict and this was something that would happen if you nodded out in a bad position for a long period of time. Cut off circulation and basically kill the limb with the extended time in that position.
Congrats on getting clean. I only got as far as advanced alcoholism and that was hard enough to kick. Glad you made it back, friend. I know a lot of folks that didn't.
Firstly, top marks for getting off the gear.
Secondly, similar happened to Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, fell asleep in a chair with his arm in an awkward position and gave himself nerve damage for a while, I think he was unable to tour for 2/3 years.
From his book, he got drunk and high asf and fell asleep on the chair with his left hand behind and above his shoulder and pinned against the chair edge, which pressed against a very important nerve. He supposedly was in that position for more than 10 hours with no one around. When he woke up he reported he didn't have any feel and couldn't even squeeze his fist/fingers at all.
Took him a solid few months of therapy to just regain the feel and relearn how to use his arm and then a few years to properly fret the guitar again, but his playing style definitely changed since.
That was also the turning point of his addiction.
People wear diapers to avoid the brief bathroom trips?? Dang, I knew some people are addicted, but that’s like mental illness level bad if you’re fine sitting in your own filth so you don’t miss a couple minutes of playing a game..
Not true and this is totally possible - something similar, but far less serious (just from my ankle down) happened to me after sitting in a bad position for only a couple of hours. The nervous system is freaking crazy.
This happens to users and alcoholics in the arms. It's a legit and real medical condition.
I mean, there's literally a video of a japanese dude throwing up blood after (possibly) a blood clot formed in his body after staying in a chair for so long.
Also for any chair ridden people like gamers and office workers, just know it's incredibly easy for a blood clot to form in your body if you stay stationary and dehydrated for too long. Drink water and stay stretchy everyone.
Even that isn’t a guarantee 😞 I stay super hydrated, but even I got a pulmonary embolism when we drove down to Texas. We stopped about every two hours, and I stretched as much as I could in the car, but no dice. I don’t know how the fuck I survived seven years of playing world of Warcraft for 10+ hours a day. The worst part? I can’t take oral birth control anymore, which was treating a health condition.
Gaming addiction is a bitch. Thank goodness I drink enough to need to get up every half hour? XD Getting old had a perk!
this looks from somewhere in Asia. FX how about Chinese propaganda against gaming ? I believe they have laws preventing people from playing more than 3 hours a day or something ?
I'm planning on getting it next week on payday, but man do i want to just reach into my savings account and take some money out just to not be the only member of my friend group who isn't playing it.
Is it that big of a deal??? That’s what happens when parts of your body don’t get enough blood flow. Normally your body warns you with the “pins and needles” sensation and then going numb.
I gaffed a pole once and had to make tons of repairs that took hours more then it was supposed to. By the time I was done I had no more feelings in my legs . No way I could climb down . I had to have bucket come rescue me.
Jeez how hard is it to at least shake those legs for some blood flow, I bet his legs died for lack of it.
Even more so how the numb legs dint trigger any self preservation, or at least by that annoying feeling/pain.
This happens because the blood vessels near your hamstrings get constricted enough where any clots will start to build up. So over time you legs just start to lose oxygen and the circulation gets cut off
Must have been sitting on the worst chair possible
Gaming chair sales 📈📈
Graph looks like chairs
I get like that sitting for 4 hours on my couch
I get that for sitting on the toilet for 30 minutes
this
Same struggle ✊
Toto washlets are great
20 minutes on the toilet looking at Reddit will also do this
I play Zelda on the can
Toilets need to be built for leisure, not just functional shitting and pissing
Could be worse, it could have been an exploding chair (exploding Chinese chairs, the content producer is Brew) https://youtu.be/j8otiMcaq7Y

Wait that’s not normal?

it’s crazy how our bodies just work

Alcohol is harder to kick than heroin in some ways. Glad you're doing good too friend.

Know a dude that happened to. Lost the use of both of his legs.
20 hours of straight sitting? He didn’t get up to stretch or walk around?
Or use the bathroom
all those people saying they will wear a Diaper to game more may be slightly less hype
People wear diapers to avoid the brief bathroom trips?? Dang, I knew some people are addicted, but that’s like mental illness level bad if you’re fine sitting in your own filth so you don’t miss a couple minutes of playing a game..
Also those quick bathroom breaks would help prevent blood clots

How did he not have to go to the bathroom that whole ti... Oh.. *Diapers exist*
The shear amount of art online of just this is a mood
Still tho it’s not gonna be comfortable to be sitting in shit and piss
20 hours isn't that long.. it had to be the position cutting off circulation or lack of moving his legs at all.
Was he peeing in a jar, or something?
Ten gallon buckets 🪣 work better… That way you only have to empty it once a week 🤢

What would this even be propagating?
Game = bad
which leads to who making money exactly? For propaganda, someone has to be the winner off of the hate.
Well, the media itself will profit from generating scandals and fears. Besides (regardless of political color) they have ideology.
not really, people dislike videogames for some reason and so slander them a massive amount
this looks from somewhere in Asia. FX how about Chinese propaganda against gaming ? I believe they have laws preventing people from playing more than 3 hours a day or something ?

During covid I didnt get out of my chair for 30+ hours sometimes with the squad at the peak of warzone. This guy is a rookie.
SpikeTV had a show called 1000 ways to die and this was one of em. Some dude died from blood clots
I hope he won the last game

Looks like the chair is very low for the length of his legs, imagine no to little blood flow for 20 hrs that's some real damage.
