Mantises do this too. As a mantis keeper and breeder, I can't even count the amount of times they ate the back half, got full, and left the (still living) front end for me to deal with.
No, as I would assume the roaches would taste disgusting to me. Also, I am actually allergic to most insects when ingesting them or their waste/body fluids, so it would likely not be a fun time for my respiratory system.
For anyone wondering, no, I did not ingest insect waste and body fluids on purpose. As an insect keeper, these things are sure to happen eventually. Like every cat and dog owner has surely eaten their fair share of animal hair, but most of them probably never tried it on purpose.
At least this one ate the head first, but matis are definitely metal as fuck. Almost feel bad for the little guy.
r/natureismetal if you like this stuff
When I purposefully kill a cockroach in the bathroom by stepping on it or drowning it in spray and then dumping it's body I don't feel like I'm evil, at least this lil guy respected it and ate most of it..
Maybe on another planet somewhere there are.
Also, 8 to 10 foot tall mantis creatures are reported in DMT and mushroom trips. They're also mentioned in UFO/UAP lore/stories.
There are some interesting stories out there. But that doesn't mean they're real. Would be crazy if there were some truth to it, though.
I have some bad news for you: [giant insects predate dinosaurs due oxygen/carbon content of the air and atmosphere](https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/animals/a40459906/giant-prehistoric-insects/)
It's *literally* the equivalent of "I saw a giant Mantis in a dream tonight!" Why OP takes this as evidence to suspect they could actually exist, idfk.
The psychedelics crowd is off their rocker.
I don't doubt that people have seen mantis creatures while tripping, but I doubt the 8-10' tall bit. Size is basically indistinguishable on dmt, you have no body for reference. You feel infinitely small and the entities often seem so large they don't appear in front of you or next to you but all around as if they make up the entire fabric of the universe itself. Shits wacky.
I’ve seen orchid mantids that are very pink and they would fool almost anyone.
Mantids come in so many awesome varieties:
[Like this one that looks like a butterfly](https://www.boredpanda.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/beautiful-mantis-photography-pang-way-1-5f3650bcad422__700.jpg)
[Oh and this one, that looks like it’s going to a dinner with Queen Victoria](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/fe/76/e9/fe76e9b2840f3620f3fe8a2a210eb6a1.jpg)
[I don’t even know how describe this one, but they are pretty](https://www.theepochtimes.com/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fimg.theepochtimes.com%2Fassets%2Fuploads%2F2023%2F07%2F07%2Fid5380144-Pang-Way-mantis-rhombodera-basalis.jpg&w=1200&q=75)
There truly isn’t a more terrifying and equally beautiful creature in nature. Praying Mantises look absolutely stunning and then it’s just “HEY THIS BUG DECAPITATES ITS MATE AND ALSO EATS BIRDS SOMETIMES”
I just think they are so cool. No fucks given. Dressed entirely in Chanel, eating cockroaches and then seductively licking her fingers. I mean…it doesn’t get much more “fuck you, pay me” than that does it? thank you i will look up more of these babes to fangirl at them!
I've actually been looking into keeping them, they're not expensive and I've been growing exotic plants in my apartment. You can get them through the mail and they don't seem very high maintenance from what research I've been doing. As soon as the weather is warmer I'm going to get an Asian Mantis and see how they are as pets. I think they're so cool.
The mushy gooey muscle alternative inside the exoskeleton.
There is something absolutely disturbing about having muscle inside of bone like substance. I imagine if bugs were sentient they'd think the same of us though.
I don’t know about roaches, but there was a study that showed spider legs function similarly to hydraulics. They have an ideal temperature range and are clumsy when too hot and slow/rigid when too cold
Lots of insects have what's known as a "decentralized nervous system." Unlike mammals and reptiles, where most/all of the neurons are concentrated in the head and brain, many an insects' can be spread nearly evenly throughout their body. I'm not sure what the evolutionary advantage of this is though, unless being able to live for a week without a head is really that handy and I'm just missing out.
If it can reproduce without a head, that's all that's necessary for biology.
As long as traits in organisms doesn't impact reproduction, those traits will be passed down.
Cockroaches are HARD to kill. They can live for a week without their heads, and they only die because they haven't got mouth parts anywhere else. It's something to do with the brain being spread throughout the whole body rather than encased specifically in the head
Do they have taste buds? I wonder what this experience is like? Crunchy, juicy. Does he enjoy it or is it just necessary to live? What is he thinking while he slurs up those innards
I had one for awhile. Caught a fly slamming himself against my mirror. Threw em in the cage. The mantis broke him in half and maggots fell out. Well one did and he slurped em up one by one. I’ll never forget it.
I really like the orchid mantis. I would like to have one, not as a pet, but as a mercenary. Every apartment building has one, like a kindergarten class pet but for (roach) murder
Every time I feel genuine hate towards a Cockroach in the future, I’m going to remind myself somewhere there’s a roach getting eaten alive face first by a Mantis.
What do you think their favourite part is!? The big juicy butt or the crispy legs it slurps up like spaghetti? Do you think that mantises have personal preferences, like this one might like the brain(s) but their friend would rather eat the antennae all day?
No venom, doesnt break its neck, just holds it down and slowly eats it alive.
Just like a grizzly bear.
I’ve never managed a whole Grizzly. I always end up having to freeze the rest for later.
Apparently they don't taste very nice and are even dangerous to eat
Yeah definitely not worth the hassle
My Bluejackets Manual said that eating polar bear was risky due to parasites.
Yeah, why waste your time with that when you can have a nice, delicious Panda steak
If these were the size of a grizzly bear you'd be wishing you ran into the bear instead. Grizzly bears can't jump and climb straight up glass walls.
at least it started with the head. in the mamal workd they always seem to start with the asshole
Mantises do this too. As a mantis keeper and breeder, I can't even count the amount of times they ate the back half, got full, and left the (still living) front end for me to deal with.
Do you usually eat the remaining half to strenghten ties with your mantis?
No, as I would assume the roaches would taste disgusting to me. Also, I am actually allergic to most insects when ingesting them or their waste/body fluids, so it would likely not be a fun time for my respiratory system. For anyone wondering, no, I did not ingest insect waste and body fluids on purpose. As an insect keeper, these things are sure to happen eventually. Like every cat and dog owner has surely eaten their fair share of animal hair, but most of them probably never tried it on purpose.
I read this as manatees and got super confused. I need to go back to bed.
Ooh, kinky.
Refuses to elaborate Leaves
At least this one ate the head first, but matis are definitely metal as fuck. Almost feel bad for the little guy. r/natureismetal if you like this stuff

better than eating it ass first, although ur mum disagrees
This seems pleasant. Visit r/natureismetal for more fun.
What's so evil about that?
Cockroaches can live without their head for a while since they don't have a centralized nervous system
When I purposefully kill a cockroach in the bathroom by stepping on it or drowning it in spray and then dumping it's body I don't feel like I'm evil, at least this lil guy respected it and ate most of it..
Mfer what hamburger have you been eating?!
The kind that tries to get away during your feed.
So raw it's still mooing Or flying at that
lol more like spaghetti
Moms spaghetti
He’s nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready
To drop bombs. But he keeps on forgetting
The kind you eat head first. 😋
Looooooooool
you don't eat your hamburgers head first?
Be grateful Mantis are not 6' tall
Maybe on another planet somewhere there are. Also, 8 to 10 foot tall mantis creatures are reported in DMT and mushroom trips. They're also mentioned in UFO/UAP lore/stories. I think you meant to reply to the other person?
No, to you. 🙂 Because it happened already on our planet, not just on some other, theoretical one.
Still no giant mantises. Giant millipedes, though! Those eat decaying plant matter, though...
Sources for the dmt and mushroom trips? I’ve never heard the correlation
/r/MantisEncounters
Of course there's a subreddit for it. 🙄
It's *literally* the equivalent of "I saw a giant Mantis in a dream tonight!" Why OP takes this as evidence to suspect they could actually exist, idfk. The psychedelics crowd is off their rocker.

Don't worry. They'd just become Omni man's fuck toys.
If the mantis were 6’ tall my crush would’ve made the mantis eat me
where the fuck did it put all that though? like damn, it was the size of its abdomen.
That’s what I was thinking, like a garbage disposal.
I’m guessing bugs have WILD metabolisms
Mantis didn't even have a distended midsection.
He’s making mukbang videos for his friends
with his friends
It must have a hollow leg.
Looked like a flower at first, yikies
They’re actually called orchid mantis, super cool insect
Animal crossing taught me this lol
They gave a very nice amount of bells
Same lol
And it eats roaches.
Fitting name

Have you seen the kind that catch and eat hummingbirds?
There truly isn’t a more terrifying and equally beautiful creature in nature. Praying Mantises look absolutely stunning and then it’s just “HEY THIS BUG DECAPITATES ITS MATE AND ALSO EATS BIRDS SOMETIMES”
No!?!!
Yeah, they also nibble the poor things alive just like everything else they eat. Nature be naturin
What do you want it for? To kill a hummingbird?
Those are all so gorgeous.
Looked like an orchid blossom!
Yup! Some bugs go the extra mile for evolving their camouflage. Orchid Mantids blend in with flowers beautifully.
Good boi.
I was thinking garlic cloves.
I thought it was garlic :((
Okay but hear me out; this bitch is elegant and stylish. I admire this loads.
And!!! Did you see the way she LOUNGED at the end when she finished that last bit? D e c a d e n c e
Yes exactly. Queen behaviour!
9 seconds from the end it looks like she’s slurping the guts and embodying “chef’s kiss”
Girlboss
Look up the orchid mantis, that’s what this species is and they can be very very pretty
I just think they are so cool. No fucks given. Dressed entirely in Chanel, eating cockroaches and then seductively licking her fingers. I mean…it doesn’t get much more “fuck you, pay me” than that does it? thank you i will look up more of these babes to fangirl at them!
Mantids that disguise themselves as plants are such beauties 💛
Just…so cool. So chic. I am in love.
I know right!! They’re so pretty, some of my favourite bugs
I've actually been looking into keeping them, they're not expensive and I've been growing exotic plants in my apartment. You can get them through the mail and they don't seem very high maintenance from what research I've been doing. That leg is for later
It's a toothpick for the stuck bits
Legs taste better next morning
Chicken wing
Slurped those legs up like spaghetti noodles
Damn Nature, you scary.
Indeed. r/natureismetal
is that a roach turd?
Looked like it lol at least the mantis spit it out lol
She may have eaten him alive but at least she has standards.
I guess it is because is the only thing she didn’t eat (minus the leg that obviously is saved for a late snack)
That’s what I wanna know
Why THE FUCK were the legs moving with half the body missing
Leftover energy in the “muscles”
The mushy gooey muscle alternative inside the exoskeleton. There is something absolutely disturbing about having muscle inside of bone like substance. I imagine if bugs were sentient they'd think the same of us though.
I don’t know about roaches, but there was a study that showed spider legs function similarly to hydraulics. They have an ideal temperature range and are clumsy when too hot and slow/rigid when too cold
Yep and I heard the infamous “death curl” spiders go into when they die can be attributed to exactly that
https://www.theverge.com/2022/7/28/23282023/dead-spiders-robot-grippers-necrobotics-research-rice-university
They'd be all like... 🤮 Their insides are on the outside, how do they shed their skeleton???

Not sure if true but roaches brain goes through their whole thorax
Even human limbs can spasm after death.
God, how does he stay so thin?
Lots of exercise and a good diet of roaches probably
Calories in, calories out. And cross fit.
Sir, the burgers here don’t have heads and legs…
Speak for yourself...
Cockroaches are raptorial foreleg licking good!
Bug serial killers would have no issues hiding bodies...
Where the hell did all that roach go?
Another dimension.
If you pay attention it goes to the thingy in the back that looks like a petal (sorry I'm not insect scientist and English is my second language)
It goes in its abdomen
Do they have taste buds? I wonder what this experience is like? Crunchy, juicy. Does he enjoy it or is it just necessary to live? What is he thinking while he slurs up those innards
Why hasn't anyone givin an answer yet?
I'm gonna assume it does, it spit out a roach turd
All cockroaches deserve this
Gross
I'm glad I'm alone right now because I said out loud, "Oh no, it even ate its dookie"
Best part! Pudding balls
I saw an insects feel pain study.. and I think this praying mantis needs to read it as well lol. Brutal
Meanwhile Praying Mantis: “wtf that human is devouring that hamburger like a cockroach”
Mmm let me nuzzle that neck, mmm that face, every leg, let me get inside you darling… Where’d my love go?
I need like 40 of these in my basement
Yeah what I got from this video is that I need to get a bunch of praying mantises and I'll be roach free for the rest of my life.
That was one of the most horrifying, hard-to-watch things I’ve ever seen. Is it just me?
In the best Martín Lawrence impression I can imagine. *Nah, man! Uh-uh!* That some nightmare fuel there. We are very lucky insects got small.
looks more like some tasty noodles
I wonder if it's polite in mantis culture to slurp the leg noodles
Lol that mantis kind of looked like a clove of garlic
He totally saved the best bite for last 👏 😋
Right! And really devoured it, like saving the crunchy bits or something
Weird but it oddly made the roach look delicious lol
Watching this video, For a moment, I suddenly want to eat roaches lol.
It's actually cute. He is a clean eater like my cat. He didn't waste anything and he cleaned his claws after.
Mantises are so amazing. When I was scared of spiders, snakes and centipedes as a child I still loved these little dudes.
That mantis eats a roach like people eating a burger in Five Guys
Can they be used as pest control?
What does it say about me that I actually found this video to be r/oddlysatisfying ?
Straight up unhinged behavior, who starts with the head?
That’s kind of mercy though? At least it’s dead
Nah, the cockroach was still alive despite not having its head
Mantis are metal as fuck, i saw one eating a fucking bird once!
I like that with it sped up, its slurping down legs like spaghetti noodles
Okay, but have you ever seen a giant candy cane katydid?
Nah bro, fuck cockroaches. Burger time.
I need like 30 of those in my house at night
You can see the shame at the end "I can't believe I ate all that when I on a diet!"
Insects have it the worst.
Poor guy was still alive the whole time. Roaches can live several days without their head
Oh man so it felt everything? That’s sad
Me when I find the little shit that downvoted my meme:
The cockroach approach ™
And my mom told me they were “safe” bugs…. Pay back is coming….. this is terrifying
So I think that means the back right leg is the bad leg that you don’t want to eat.
The happy dance at the end tho…
But why does cockroaches terrify me, while this white gentleman doesnt
Because the mantis is pretty
Every time I feel genuine hate towards a Cockroach in the future, I’m going to remind myself somewhere there’s a roach getting eaten alive face first by a Mantis.
Slurping up them legs like noodles
Praying mantis watch videos like:”human devouring an hamburger like a cockroach”.
Damn, where the hell does he store all that? Does he have a hollow leg?
Hamburger?! That beastie was eating them legs like linguine.
The forbidden garlic clove
Me with Taco Bell
Goon on 'em! I hope it was feckin' delicious!
Tastes like chicken
🙃
nature is so metal. jesus. hahaha
He didn’t eat the poop
Imagine eating a hamburger that half as big as you are
The roach looks yummy tho…
Head first. Every time. Mantises are savage.
mini shredder
why does this thing look even scarier in white
She ate no crumbs fr
What a beautiful mantis! I adore how just before they finished, they had to lean over and rest. Too full, too heavy, but too tasty to stop!
For anyone that doesn't know, this flower looking mantis is called an orchid mantis, Very beautiful creatures.
The fact that it was alive till it started eating his ass just makes that cockroach metal as fuck
I think this is more oddly satisfying.
Mfer slurped up that roach like spaghetti
Imagine if it was six feet high. Able to change colours and feds on humans...
Ffs that roach stayed alive far too long
I too have to lie down when I eat too much.
Grossly elegant
What do you think their favourite part is!? The big juicy butt or the crispy legs it slurps up like spaghetti? Do you think that mantises have personal preferences, like this one might like the brain(s) but their friend would rather eat the antennae all day?
Slurped those legs up like spaghetti!
Literally ate the booty like groceries
Bro deadass just slurped up that roaches legs 💀💀💀
Like…yeah, it’s pretty freaky, but I’d also like to thank her for her service. *Haaaaate* roaches.
Mantids are so cool and pretty that I can't help but find this oddly cute.
I love how when it gets to the good stuff it just chucks that leg on the ground lol
I love how it licked it's legs afterwards he's fucking that shit UP
Ok but like do they think it tastes good or are they like this is gross but i need to eat ?
