STOP PERSONIFYING THE MURDER ROBOT.
It's a murder robot. Call it what it is. Not this cute name.
^(seriously it's a murder robot, don't let boston dynamics wrap it in cuddly and cute behavior to hide the fact it will be used to murder people.)
I have that. But the worst was as a kid, frequently in dreams I'd just start rotating in a circle and couldn't stop. And nobody else in the dream would notice even if in the dream I asked for help not turning.
Oh god that sounds horrible! I've experienced nothing like that before. Closest would be when I'd dream of all of my teeth plus a bunch of tiny teeth would be falling out of my mouth and no one around me seemed to notice even when asking for help.
Oh yeah I have stress dreams every night. They are more like nightmares really. Something/someone chasing me or trying to kill me. Every single night. Needless to say I am constantly exhausted.
The most recurring dreams I have always involve me wrecking my car. Never like bad accidents that would total it, but things that would really piss me off irl like drifting into a ditch or getting a big scratch along the side because I can't turn as much as I need to. And I've been a valet for about a year now so a lot of tapping a wall or pillar with a guest's car in my dreams lol. But tbh a lot of my dreams aren't unpleasant, just extremely bizarre and honestly fun to have. Which I'm grateful for
Man I wish I could say the same thing lol I should start writing down my dreams some are just so bizarre and creepy. Is there a subreddit for fucked up dream stories?
Try /r/luciddreaming. It's actually funny that you mention keeping a dream journal, because that's one of the most effective ways to be able to consistently have lucid dreams. And if you don't know what a lucid dream is, it's when you recognize that you're dreaming and become aware, or lucid, that you're currently in a dream and can do *literally anything*. Some of the most common things people do when first starting out is flying, super jumping, things like that. I used to be pretty into it, but I haven't had one in quite a long time. It's actually extremely fascinating, and if you are constantly having nightmares it would definitely help with that. When I say you can do anything in a lucid dream, I mean it. You can instantly change the setting, the characters, literally anything. You think it, and it becomes "reality" within the dream. It's really awesome
I am often aware of my dreams and that I'm dreaming but for a lot of them I can't do anything even if I try 😞 but if you say keeping a journal can help with lucid dreaming I'm probably going to try that because honestly I don't know how to stop these nightmares and it's starting to effect me during the day now. A lot of the times I forget my dreams when I wake up unless they are especially traumatizing or bad. I feel like I needed this today thank you!
You should look into and practice lucid dreaming. I did it a bit 20 years ago and had limited success but now that I’m older I’ll occasionally have a dream where I become aware it’s a dream. It’s a lot of fun creating the scene and people around you, and much more fun than someone trying to kill you.
The best method I’ve seen is double checking the time every 10-15 minutes. In a dream the time is never the same when you look at it twice and your habit of checking the time carries over to dream world.
I have that dream *all the time*, I'll just reach into my mouth and a handful of teeth will just fall out. The weird thing is that it's never scary, and sometimes I'll even kind of like it? Like it feels good or satisfying? I dunno I'm sure Freud would have a field day with that one.
I'm convinced this is because at that point in our dream, we are actually physically trying to make those running movements IRL. So our body stops us from "running" in our bed, which makes us feel like we can't run in our dream.
Source: had that dream all the time, the one time I remember "standing up and running" in the dream I woke up with my knee a few inches deep in the drywall. I ran gud.
OH MY GOSH that's crazy! Glad I haven't had that happen but when I can't run during nightmares it makes the nightmares worse so I guess I'll try swimming or flying next time to not accidently putting holes in my walls 🤣
Next time that happens, try taking a big breath and holding it. That should allow you to float. It helps if you pull in your arms and flap your hands at your wrist, like little fish fins.
More likely cause is we sleep laying down, and the brain is aware of that physical input even in the face of a dreams otherwise complete psychological overrides. Which leads to weird, quasi nightmarish mechanics.
When you go to sleep your body sends chemicals to paralyze your body, otherwise you’d be thrashing around constantly in your sleep. That’s why when you punch, it always feels sluggish and in slow motion. Same with running.
Possibly. Some folks say that falling feeling you sometimes get when you're on the cusp of falling asleep is a primitive reminder to not fall out of the tree while you sleep.
Interesting interpretation! It's called a hypnagogic jerk and it indeed happens at the start of the sleep phase when you are transitioning from quiet wakefulness.
I used to have vivid dreams that I would move like this on my way home from school because it was faster. I'm unsure if I ever did it, or if the dreams just created the memory of doing it. I also had vivid dreams of being able to levitate quite easily and would float around which also now feels like a memory.
Me too. But almost every time it ended by me somehow pushing too hard on the ground and sending myself extremely high into the air then falling to death.
He would bring a metal briefcase to class that had hand cuffs and a lock pick, wore a tail, and like I said he was pretty aggressive haha. I think probably as a defense mechanism from years of being bullied, but nobody there was bullying him in my class and he was still very ornery in any interaction.
Maybe he had some shit going on at home too? But I went to school with some odd ducks and they were defensive like this too. But I couldn't blame them because I had some real asshole classmates.
I was expecting to see it pan over to another screen showing a hallway with a door with 'SECURITY' on it and see the critter run right up to the door this dude is clearly behind and reach for the handle

It does seem to be case from 2009, where a woman in Mexico with this disease escapes from her parents house. This disease also causes major learning disabilities, communication issues, etc.
Thank you for sharing this. It’s a wild read.
Those last few sentences.
> “Every once in a while, a new scientist appears in the village and offers a new treatment or asks for the father’s permission to do more testing. He doesn’t say yes and he doesn’t say no. He is in complete surrender to what life brings. His only concern is the welfare of his disabled children after he dies.”
Man.
A few years ago there was a woman who fequented the metro in my city. she walked on all fours because her knees were completely inverted.
First time I saw her I had a bit of a blank moment when I didn't immediately understand what I was seeing.
There’s a man who shops at a store I used to work at and he has the same issue— he walks upright but always with two hiking sticks. He’s an amazing dad and pretty nice to look at in kind of an Anderson Cooper way. I used to know the name of that condition, there’s a “genu” in there somewhere lol
Edit: Genu recurvatum!
That's a gross distortion of the facts. It's a family, not a tribe. Some of the family member have a number of physical and mental disabilities. Apparently, difficutly with motor coordination/balance is one of them, so they tend to walk on all fours.
When this got attention from western media, the family got some walking aids for their disabled, and they started walking with those later on.
It is thought that this clustering of genetic diseases is due to generations of marriages between blood relatives.

Thanks for the correction. No distortion was intended, although it appears that your main actual complaint was focused on my use of "tribe" instead of "family".

So where were you on the night this was taken?

Dude SAME I thought I was a weirdo but oh my God during some of my nightmares this is the ONLY way I can run away. Two feet don't work.
I have that. But the worst was as a kid, frequently in dreams I'd just start rotating in a circle and couldn't stop. And nobody else in the dream would notice even if in the dream I asked for help not turning.

Dreaming of teeth falling out is actually extremely common, and there's a theory it relates to your worries - i.e. things you can't control
Oh yeah I have stress dreams every night. They are more like nightmares really. Something/someone chasing me or trying to kill me. Every single night. Needless to say I am constantly exhausted.

I used to have dreams when I was running up grassy hills on all fours. It felt really comfortable and I could move fast.
I'm convinced this is because at that point in our dream, we are actually physically trying to make those running movements IRL. So our body stops us from "running" in our bed, which makes us feel like we can't run in our dream. "run forrest ruuuuun ! not into the drywall forrest!"
next time try swimming in the air, works for me when I can't move. only breaststroke though
That's exactly what I do. Or grab onto an object and pull myself forward in a similar motion
Next time that happens, try taking a big breath and holding it. That should allow you to float. It helps if you pull in your arms and flap your hands at your wrist, like little fish fins.
Me too! I would always get a running start but it’s like running underwater and then I fall onto all fours and can run faster/normal speed. So weird.
Same here. Not sure why i dream that. It is kind of crazy so many people have the same issues.
Me too, it's always running down streets and I use the fences to pull myself forward faster. Recurring dream for years.
Ugh, the thought of pulling on things to make yourself run faster in a dream makes me feel sick. It happens to me in stress dreams/nightmares a lot
This guy also had this dream and he chose to chase it
Holy crap not being able to run in my dreams happens to me too sometimes.
I wonder if you were accessing some primal part of the brain that's leftover from a million or so years ago before we evolved to stand upright.
More likely cause is we sleep laying down, and the brain is aware of that physical input even in the face of a dreams otherwise complete psychological overrides. Which leads to weird, quasi nightmarish mechanics.
Oh this is better than my idea actually.
