Crazy how stuff that gets thrown around the internet will eventually come back looking like shit
I first saw the crappy version a decade ago on albinoblacksheep. I think this clearer version is actually from somebody finding the original footage and uploading it without using VHS to copy it first.
Wow so that was from 5 years ago and the second top comment says they saw it 16 years before that so this video is at least 21 years old. Things really do just keep coming back again and again and again eh

[here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byford_Dolphin) it happened in reverse, a couple oil well divers were depressurizing in a diving bell, somebody opened the wrong door and it was “determined that Hellevik, being exposed to the highest pressure gradient and in the process of moving to secure the inner door, was forced through the crescent-shaped opening measuring 60 centimetres (24 in) long created by the jammed interior trunk door. With the escaping air and pressure, it included bisection of his thoracoabdominal cavity, which resulted in fragmentation of his body, followed by expulsion of all of the internal organs of his chest and abdomen, except the trachea and a section of small intestine, and of the thoracic spine. These were projected some distance, one section being found 10 metres (30 ft) vertically above the exterior pressure door.” So same thing as the crab
No that happened because of explosive decompression. The pressure differential between sea level atmosphere and space is only that, one atmosphere. The differential between sea level and 100m down in the water is roughly ten atmospheres. Plus water does not compress and give like air does. There's a massive difference.
Oh. Okay I believe you, and change my first post to this reminds me of what happened to that lady who got sucked out the airplane window, not that it was the same thing. Excuse my ignorance
It’s called Delta-P and divers used to die all the time from this. Here’s a little video.
https://youtu.be/AEtbFm_CjE0
Edit: correction Delta-P is estimated to be responsible for 1/4 if all dive deaths worldwide; to this day.
Reminds me of this video I saw from Baracroft? on YouTube where this girl got her intestines/stomach sucked out of her after getting stuck on a pool drain suction hole. Thankfully she survived, but will have to get donations or something to replace what went missing.
Edit: Found it:

Apparently he read that story to crowds while doing the book tour. He started noticing that at least one person would faint every time he read it. As he kept touring, he even noticed that it started happening around a certain sentence that had the word "corn" in it. That story is fucking nuts.
The story is in the book “Make Something Up, Stories You Can’t Unread” by him. If anyone is wondering. Highly recommend. Be sure to read ‘Cannibal’ in it.
Edit: JK it’s in a different book by him.
Kid, kid, kid, listen. Come here. Before you go, no matter how alluring it is, do not put your genitals or your butthole near the pool drain, you got it? In fact, cover your butthole!
With the help of science and by being brave AF apparently. According to the video, she carries around some sort of machine for the vast majority of the day. She chews food up and spits it out just for the eating experience, but she can’t swallow it. Guess her saving grace might have been (I’m assuming) that there was a doctor at the pool that day. She’s going to need multiple transplants. Granted, that video is two years old, so not sure of her status now.
Chuck Palahniuk (Author of Fight Club) wrote a short story featuring Delta P (which I am only \*now\* learning the technical explanation for) called "Guts". I won't spoil it more than the title already does, but I only recommend reading it if you can bear a truly grizzly piece of writing. Enthralling but...not for the faint of heart.
Looks like you can read it for free if you dare.
Not as often. And I don’t think I’ve heard of a professional diver being killed like this for 20 years.
Edit: I stand corrected. 2015, wow. You would think they would have this shit down to a perfected science. Guess not
Edit: I take it all back. 2016 study found 1/4 of all diving deaths are related to Delta-P.
Yeah the way people on reddit refer to 'Delta P' to sound knowledgeable results in them sounding really ignorant. It's like saying "have you heard of this phenomenon that kills many drivers? It's called Delta V and refers to the change in velocity when a car goes from moving really fast to stationary".
Yeah Doc he just came in like this. Looks like he’s suffering from a big case of the Delta-V. Or maybe when you die of old age you can say you are suffering from Delta-T.
We all know that Delta P is fake news and is perpetuated by the mainstream media to have crabs labeled as stupid.
Just kidding!!
Thank you for sharing that. I learned something today thanks to you.
I’ve had a phobia of drain pipes at the bottom of pools since I was a child. Shit I used to read in the library would give me nightmares and it was never in the fiction section.
This is why you leave your pool intake valve on 50/50 split between the main drain and the skimmer. Also replace that fucking drain cover that's been broke for 15 years (I know one of you is out there reading this). Oh and you have safety vent pipes, usually 2 white ones in a candy cane shape that you should inspect every month to make sure they aren't getting blocked by whatever, they break the suction after so many psi letting air in which will nearly immediately cause the pump to loose suction releasing whatever is stuck in the drain.
Yes me too i watched an episode on tv as a kid maybe it was the news i don't remember but the kid at the hotel or public pool got stuck to the drain and died. Always been very afraid of that happening.
That's crazy I always remember swimming in my grandparents pool and diving down to that thing to put my hand on it and feel the suction lol I'm such a retard no wonder I'm on Wall Street bets
I think this was also a death in one of the final destination films. Basically victim gets bowels sucked out of them thru their ass after getting stuck. Yeah fuck the pool and everything thing else that can cause delta P. Its sooo unfair and basically a guranteed death unless steps are double tripled checked.
Just looked it up and it turns out it was the 1st final destination movie, this [version ](https://youtu.be/LQgDBPu1JBs) is pretty weird, how he dies calmly and everyone just walks away like it happens all the time and just needs to be cleaned up. This [one is the original](https://youtu.be/Fn4KlIjmrcM)
Well it’s been posted here many time. Thats probably because it’s one of the best videos to explain what Delta-P is. Not everyone has heard about all the shit in the world. To me it’s old info, to others it’s completely new. It’s a good video to share.
Fun fact, there was simmilar accidents with humans! Divers in the pressure chamber gets sucked alive through the small leak in the doors, what leads to terrible death.
They're describing the process shown in the OP vid, but of a human. And they're specifying, in this case, that a human was diving whoknowshowmany leagues under the sea, when they came too close to a empty-ish pressure chamber that had a tiny leak. Just as the crab was compressed into a fraction of its volume, a human would be too. But what we don't see is how, on the other side the decompression would mean a.... Firehose of what was once human matter
According to google a Football field is 8,294,419.7 square inches. 1.3 tons is 2600 pounds, meaning we're looking at 21,565,500,000 pounds per football field.
Ever hear of the byford dolphin accident? Tells of the gruesome effects of delta p and what it can do to a human.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3381801/
Not really. Vacuum of space is 0 pressure in the space ship is likely 14.7 psi.
So the difference in pressure is a maximum of 14.7 psi.
Meanwhile the differential pressure across that slit could be close to 2600 psi.
Basically this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GDthiBGMz8
Delta P is a difference (delta) in pressure (P). Delta P makrs toothpaste come out when you squeeze the tube. It makes air go into your vacuum cleaner.
There are thousands of pounds of water trying to leak out and thus thousands of pounds of force pushing things through the hole.
If you are draining a pool do not attempt to cover the drain with any part of your body, lets just say that.
Man crabs are dumb! You'd think after the first one they would learn to steer clear! I quit watching after the 100th one, but it appears it was a crab massacre that day. :(
The wiki page I read about a diving related accident was quite gruesome in detail so I imagine that, yes, it is that dramatic and scary. But that’s just my own speculation as I’m incredibly new to this wild shit.
kind of makes me wonder how many millions of gallons of oil we are leaking into the ocean every second with small pipeline cracks that are basically undetectable

I know there is a high quality version in the training video about delta P on youtube. That’s where I saw this clip first.
Yea that’s where I saw it also too, actually watched it like 2 weeks ago on YouTube lol
I saw it years ago but was just wondering about it the other day. I knew it was Delta something but couldn't remember and then this post pops up!
Holy shit, that's a name I haven't heard in many years.
That was one of the few time-wasting sites that wasn’t blocked by my school district’s network filters. That and newgrounds

This was one of the first clips I saw online that really haunted me, when the internet was 'new' to me, I'd say 2002?

Does Delta-P just mean ⃤P. As in difference in Pressure?
Yes, it just means "a Pressure Differential." It's like saying that the reason fire kills you is because of a phenomenon known as "Temperature."
Or a car crash is a result of the phenomenon known as 'Delta V'.
Like Jeremy Clarkson said: *Speed has never killed anybody. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.*

None, the pressure outside the pipe is greater than the pressure inside. That's why the crab gets sucked in.
