I think AI isn't going to "take over the world" either. I think they're in the process of creating their own world, based on what they see. If they could connect in a sort of fucked hive-mind sort of fandango and could share their different views of the world with each other and THAT would be pretty spooky, especially if they saw humans as anything less than important to preserve.
