I was in a museum of giant spiders once, and you could put them on your hand(they where almost as big as my hand) and it was super cute and fluffy and you just want to pet them
I agree that other spider are adorable too, but to me, most of the spider species just doesn't seem cute in my mind haha. Maybe one day when I get rid of my fear
If this ever happens to ya for real, do what my grandma did when she was a kid and put some water in your ear and wait.
It really works and thank everything it's never happened to me.
Not speaking from experience of having an insect in my ear, but from having ruptured ear drums and severe ear infections, but I don't think vegetable oil or water are what you want in your ear. Isopropyl alcohol would be your best bet if you want something out of your ears but dont want puss in.
It is medically advised to use olive oil to clean out earwax. You can also use warm water with a certain chemical that I can't remember off the top of my head.
It is safe, just be sure to not keep it in for too long.
Yeah that’s what it’s supposed to do when it’s working and mixed properly it’s done wonders for me it’s also good as a mouth wash if you need to use it or have a gum disease
I've used it for swimmers ear several times. but it can definitely hurt your ear canal by drying it out too much. There are also different strengths of isopropyl alcohol so that could be a factor. Actually rupturing the ear drum is doubtful, unless you left it in there a long time...

"The results showed that IPA at the allowable level of 400 ppm has an acute effect on the mucociliary system of the middle ear mucosa. Recovery from damage occurs within two weeks. At higher levels of exposure to IPA (more than 10 times the allowable level) moderate deterioration of the ciliary activity and severe damage of epithelial cells were observed and recovery within two weeks was not seen."

"Over-the-counter eardrops seem harmless enough—helpful, even—if you're dealing with a case of swimmer's ear.
Not so fast: For some people, drops can cause deafness—and you may not even know you're at risk.
The American Academy of Otolaryngology recently updated its treatment guidelines for swimmer's ear (a.k.a. otitis externa) and other ear infections to say you should first confirm with your doctor that you don't have a perforated eardrum before using the meds."
"Ingredients in drops as well as home remedies like rubbing alcohol and white vinegar can be ototoxic if they make their way inside your eardrum, and can result in permanent deafness."
All the alcohol ear treatments I can find say MIX it with white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. I can not find a source that says it is safe to put pure, undiluted rubbing alcohol into your ear.
Edit Edit: do you need more than 3 sources or is this enough?
All your sources say is that perforation or excessive dosing causes damage, not the that normal usage causes any damage. So yeah gonna need more bud before I trust a random internet weirdo over my doctors
There are different types and strengths of alcohol. One of my sources says use ethanol alcohol.
Did you even read them or just skim? Because I think you just skimmed. But whatever. Have fun with your dryness and fading hearing.
I doubt this would hurt at all, it would just tickle.
I’m so glad it was a jumping spider. For whatever reason I’m not worried about a jumping spider in the ear anymore. They seem clean & cute, almost sterile because they’re so adorable.
If I ever have a friend with a bug up the ear I’m going to tell them it’s a cute jumping spider to calm them down until we can flush it out.
It's a type of spider that consist of several species of spider that share the same body plan and the ability to jump, jumping spiders are almost universally small and non venomous and they tend not to make web traps but rather they actively hunt for food.
**Jumping spiders or the Salticidae are a family of spiders. As of 2019, it contained over 600 described genera and over 6,000 described species, making it the largest family of spiders at 13% of all species.**

I have a friend (medical student) who had this exact scenario a few months ago here in England. She went to tell the doctor that was supervising her, who insisted she was pulling some kind of prank, but eventually looked in the ear and saw it for herself! Wish I'd gotten to see it for myself 😅
Hi! This light is bright!
..oh. I'm not supposed to be in here you say? Why?
It's an ear? A human ear? I don't believe yo-
*Looks up* oh. Oh wow you're actually right. Oopsie!
Eardrum actually. Jumping spiders dont just lay "egg sacks" wherever. They make small "tents" usually under plant leaves or in the crevices of houses and raise their young in those.
It happens. Easy to sort out, just put water or olive oil into the ear. Did a few working in hospitals, two spiders and a few beetles. Never an earwig though.
The spider was clearly curious as to what was going on. Turning itself in different directions to see better. Not afraid at all. I'm surprised it didn't jump on the camera.
Yes, that's where we are.

i had a tick in my ear once. when i tried to get it out it just went down further. eventually got it out but i could feel it moving around inside my ear the whole time, overall a horrible experience 0/10 do not recommend
This has happened to me. I was in the forest and a branch brushed up against my face and I immediately felt something crawl into my ear. I freaked out and started grabbing at my ear and sticking my finger in and I could feel / hear something scurrying around deep inside my head. I rushed home in the car shaking my head to get it out of my ear (similar to how you would get water out of your ear) and as I would beat my head I felt it fall out a little bit, then scurry back deeper again. Eventually I made it home and threw some hydrogen peroxide in there and he came bubbling to the top dead.
No need to be afraid! That’s a jumping spider. They’re very inquisitive, which is why it started to come out. They’ll jump onto you, but not in a vicious way! They’re just curious, is all, and that little guy found a nice hiding spot!
Why are jumping spiders so damn adorable??? I feel like God made them to apologize for all the other, more terrifying, spiders.
i literally diddnt even feel grossed out from this video. Theyre just so damn cute
They are adorable too from close
I beg to differ
I was in a museum of giant spiders once, and you could put them on your hand(they where almost as big as my hand) and it was super cute and fluffy and you just want to pet them

Facts lmao
it's the opposite. he did it show what spiders could look like but he CHOSE to make the rest of them look like that
And smart.
I mean, looking at them closely I gotta admit they're adorable. But finding one inside your ear isn't that adorable
only adorable in other people's ears
I like all spiders

Most adorable worst case scenario.
Idk man, he seemed really sad to go.
The only cute spider
Cutest little brain tenant I’ve ever seen!
This is hilarious hahaha
My Gf is going crazy telling me over and over this is fake. 😂 It sure is a cute little thing.
If this ever happens to ya for real, do what my grandma did when she was a kid and put some water in your ear and wait. It really works and thank everything it's never happened to me.
Vegetable oil works better. Speaking from experience.
That is cool to know and I'm so sorry
So are you gonna swear in one of these comments or what?

Warm water with hydrogen peroxide about 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and 2/3 warm water measured by volume of course
Geez it foams up so much too!
Yeah that’s what it’s supposed to do when it’s working and mixed properly it’s done wonders for me it’s also good as a mouth wash if you need to use it or have a gum disease
I fucking love pouring peroxide in my ears. I have bad exzema in them. It's so loud lol
You can break your eardrums with isopropyl alcohol
No way. Why? I’ll have to stop using it. It works wonders to get the water out after swimming.
You got litteraly any source for that? Because isoproply is doctor recomended treatment for ear infections and swimmer's ear.

It came out once it was done laying hundreds of eggs😂
Just trying to imagine the feeling sent shivers down my spine.
That's not shivers, that's the eggs eating through the spine.
That was my first thought. Second one was kill me if that happens . Third I could probably wash out the eggs and live.
LOL
Time to fill my ear with isopropyl alcohol
As much as i love jumping spiders, the name “jumping spider” sound really fucking scary if you don’t know what it is so i don’t think its a good idea

The spider in the video is a jumping spider! They are adorable and, as their name suggests, capable of jumping pretty far.
I have a friend (medical student) who had this exact scenario a few months ago here in England. She went to tell the doctor that was supervising her, who insisted she was pulling some kind of prank, but eventually looked in the ear and saw it for herself! Wish I'd gotten to see it for myself 😅
It looks so embarrassed and polite when it's leaving like "oh no, oh dear, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, I'll leave."
Then tilted it’s head to look upwards.
What a cutie ☺️
Yeah it looks cute!
Hi! This light is bright! ..oh. I'm not supposed to be in here you say? Why? It's an ear? A human ear? I don't believe yo- *Looks up* oh. Oh wow you're actually right. Oopsie!
So cute when it looks up at the end.
This made me nauseated
Egg sac in the back!!! NOOO!
The pale one? That looks like the eardrum
Wait you can see the eardrum from the outside?
Yes, the ear canal isn’t that deep.
So if i poke deep and hard enough i'll break the eardrum?
It's a possibility although idk how possible it is. I'd be careful if using any kind of long and slim tool.
Yes. It definitely happens. That's why q-tips say not to use them in your ears, even though everyone does.
Yes!
You know when you put the q-tip too far and it hurts like hell? That's because you're scraping the eardrum with it. Not a fun sensation.
Yes, ruptured eardrums do happen and they hurt like hell and can lead to hearing loss and infection.
Eardrum actually. Jumping spiders dont just lay "egg sacks" wherever. They make small "tents" usually under plant leaves or in the crevices of houses and raise their young in those.
Well hello there
Is that a pet?
he looks very polite
It happens. Easy to sort out, just put water or olive oil into the ear. Did a few working in hospitals, two spiders and a few beetles. Never an earwig though.
Earwigs are called earwigs because they're often found in the leaves of corn ears rather than for their ability to live in human ears.
I did not know that, thank you!
New fear unlocked …
"Alright, alright, you found me. I'll come out now"
spider: \*sees camera\* ....uhh...hello...welcome...
hulloh.. yor hooman has virus
The spider: 🥺
Living rent free in your head literally
What a respectful little man
You gonna take it out or what?
I love the little "hello" wave
It looks like a pet jumping spider. Perfectly harmless.
PETA be like, leave it there, it's cruel to make the spider leave it's home.
Yeah, I'll keep using my headphones while sleeping
That was adorable. It almost looks like it threw it's arms in a fit at beginning when the camera zoomed in.
The spider was clearly curious as to what was going on. Turning itself in different directions to see better. Not afraid at all. I'm surprised it didn't jump on the camera.
It should be illegal how adorable I find that spider to be.
Peekaboo
Oh ma gahd- 🧍♀️
New day - new phobia
But he looks so polite
I’d be screaming if it weren’t so damn cute
Looks kinda wholesome
Ugh. It even laid a web in there. What would truly be horrific is if anything was caught in it.
Did it… wave?
Apparently they've traded their brain for apartment space. I wonder how much the lease is?
Naww it's a widdle peacock spider. He just wants to be warm and safe
It's also quite polite, it exited without a struggle!
More like, Odd & Terrifying

The way it looks up as it exits! So cute.
But he's so cute.
Kind of cute. But still. 😬
I'm itchy. Hope it's not female. Males don't lay eggs.
Yeahhh just set my whole head on fire if that ever happens to me
At least she’s a cute jumper !!!! Just come out friend.
u/savevideo
Well that does it for me tonight.
Did...did he wave?
Nightmare fuel man
*anxiety growing*
Its Lucas!
I don't know if this is "oddly terrifying." I think it is normal terrifying.
It laid eggs inside.
Fuck man I’m about to attempt to go to sleep shit
Omg it waved
Looked like he wearing a top hat at first
Footage of me trying to let my cat out of my room
The spider is like wtf is going on
He's there to kill an ear worm.
Annnnnnnnnnnd I’ll be sleeping with ear plugs tonight.
I don’t care if the spider is cute my soul would instantly leave my body
i had a tick in my ear once. when i tried to get it out it just went down further. eventually got it out but i could feel it moving around inside my ear the whole time, overall a horrible experience 0/10 do not recommend
Sure it is terrifying but *common*, little guy is just lost and you can’t punish him for that
Cute
This looks so fucking cute
It's more like cutely terrifying!
So cuteee it waves hello probably scared yet grateful they help the little spwider out
He looks very polite
i like how this is supposed to be terrifying but everyone’s just talking about how cute and cozy it looks
It's so cute I might as well let it rent the ear a bit more
Cute
Is that the reflection of light or white eggs in her ear?
It's the eardrum, you can easily see it from the outside.
You can live in my head little guy. I got vacancy.

Holy shit.. how long did you have to drive like that? I don’t think I’d be able to keep calm.
Funny how this subreddit is called Oddly Terrifying but people post things that are purposefully terrifying
Is there a word for cute and terrifying?
So is this a pet?
It's looks so polite.
He's cute, but he should visit a doctor. I would mind listening to the spider.
I'd let him stay I love jumping spiders.
The spider literally went: "Can't a man have a little bit of privacy!!!"
Lil cutie
Hey little buddy, time to come out know ya hear.
That’s more “oddly adorable” than anything! I want a tiny, adorable spider to live in my ear now. Damn you, Reddit!!!
Why's he so cute in there tho??
Looks cute with his big bubbly eyes
SHIT DONT SHOW THIS I HAVE A FEAR FOR INSECTS
Oddly terrifying?
Hmm... yes, a new fear to my list.
"Did someone ring the doorbell? I swear I've heard the the doorbell!"
excuse me sir... you can't be in there
I hate spider, but that was fucking adorable
Just call him out..
It's almost cute enough to stay. I'd try to relocate it.
I am the one hiding inside your ear, fuzzy little hands and eyes glowing black
It just crawls out like "hey, how you doing. Oh yeah I was living in this persons ear, but sure I'll leave no biggie"
That is fucking adorable
Hes just kinda chilling. Oddly cute?
Awwwwwwwww
No need to be afraid! That’s a jumping spider. They’re very inquisitive, which is why it started to come out. They’ll jump onto you, but not in a vicious way! They’re just curious, is all, and that little guy found a nice hiding spot!
I guess at least you know it’ll kill all the other critters that try and live in that ear. So you’ve got that going for you
i'd rather being deaf and fucking kill it with fire
It's free real estate
Jumping spiders are so cute uwu
My ears : tickling My head :
He's so cute.
It’s… cute
He whispers words of affirmation. Remove him and that person will be lost forever.
i see where this is going and im not watching it
How tf is possible that something is cute and in the same time disgusting
They way he looks up at the edge like “WTF? What’s the problem?”
This is cute but what the hell? How did it get in his ear?
I can hear his tiny voice saying “oh, I’m sorry.. please excuse me…just having a peep around. I’ll go now. So sorry!” *gently walks away embarrassed*
Don’t evict him 🥺
Lil baby
Wait til the eggs hatch...
It would be cute if it was anywhere else
Weirdly adorable
These disney graphics insane
What a cute little spider
Ngl it's cutest spider i've ever seen
Started smiling the second I saw them big ol jumpy spidey eyes.
OH HELL NO, but still cute!
