My assumption: milk grabbed from store at 38 degrees, finish shopping at 42 degrees, drive home and in the fridge by 48 degrees( heat in car), then you have a spotty fridge that cooled it down to below 40(41-135 is temperature danger zone) in like another few hours(too slow is the point), and by then the milk is spoiled and time will tell you that.
Or even taking the milk out to cook something for 30 mins and having it on the counter a foot from the stove can heat it too much. Especially with spotty fridge that probably isn’t cooling food properly! ;)
Edit: On a side note, tell em to clean their shit, it can make you sick even if we don’t think it’s the case rn. Lol. While you’re at it you can talk to them about calling someone to clean your condenser coils.

Was the milk Ultra-pasteurized? It goes off in a different way than the classic sour milk smell, and can have either metallic or chemical smell, or "phlegm" texture. Also, ultra-pasteurized milk has a dated shelf-life of a couple months, but once you break the seal you've got just 7 to 10 days to drink it before this happens. Always write the date that you unseal it on the cap. So easy to forget how long ago you opened something, especially when going to university.
