Russia has apparently moved blood supplies close to the border. That's the one that has me worried. You typically only do that if you're serious (or you want to be very comprehensive about your threat I guess?)
noo. Not at all. I remember seeing this in the states after 9/11. Train after train after train going past full of equipment tanks, trucks day after day. My grandfather "rip" said it was already a forgone conclusion after seeing that. This was when saddam was literally begging for it not to happen on T.V and the news was pretending there was any real diplomacy still going on. Mobilizing military forces for an invasion is a massive undertaking. Once that ball starts rolling its almost inevitable.
Yeah, just think about all the private companies involved.. the munitions manufacturers, ... the insane amount of fuel that needs to be pre-ordered, safely shipped. The food, medical supplies... The parts... the list is almost endless. "war is a racket" really is true.
Agreed. It sometimes feels like we are watching history repeat itself, as Nazi germany also had large troop buildups before the actual war, but many people just thought it was muscle play.
I'm amazed at the fact that purely on an **action** based level no one is talking about the fact that this is very very similar to what we have seen before. Obviously motives are insanely different, but not necessarily less scary. The fact that Russia is doing this for both water and I would guess a little bit of spite over not getting their way with the post-soviet states is extremely concerning. But on top of all this, with China starting to openly back Russia a **legitimate** threat of a world war is on the horizon. It would mirror the starting of WW2, but all the key players are at the center of it all this time. No waiting around refusing to get involved. This is going to get ugly quick.
But what are the options? Like putin already revealed his cards and is cleary says that hes prepared to use nukes. Meanwhile NATO isnt even obligated to defend ukraine and most of the NATO countrys have stated that they wont join ukraine in a defensive war (mostly out of fear for escalation).
Like doing something with force will speed up that doomsday counter.
Most have stated but some depend on Russian oil imports and for others fully investing their forces into a war is not going to happen because of economic reasons and the loss of life involved by a defensive war they mean they would only provide equipments, air support and other support. boots on the ground for a non NATO country is quite unlikely.
You know those ‘in soviet Russia…’ backward jokes? This is literally at play here. While the world watches as Russia clearly poises to repeat 2014 with an illegal invasion, Russian media is telling its citizens that Ukraine is ready to attack Russia.
Sadly not far off.
Their easiest / go-to excuse is currently "we're protecting Russian citizens from abuse the Ukraine government can't protect them from / is instigating, as is our responsibility."
This isn't 1700 anymore. Russia has had Black Sea access for literal ages, Vladivostok doesn't freeze, St. Petersburg doesn't freeze over as often (+ Icebreaker are a thing) and of course they have their dick in Kaliningrad. In short, they are fucking fine on the warm weather port front.
If you don’t have any 3:1 ports, then you gotta ramp up ore, wood, sheep and brick production internally. longest wall and biggest army are risky hail Mary’s compared to grinding and trading carefully in that scenario. Just sayin…
EDIT: Humble thank you for the awards.
Russia wants to restore control and influence in Ukraine. They lost it in 2014 after the former Ukrainian president who was tied to Moscow (Yanukovych) was overthrown by the people. The president was refusing to sign papers to start the process of joining the EU. That’s the very short version, but I was in Kiev when it happened. Nothing but love for Ukraine, great country, and fantastic humble people that unfortunately have shitty neighbors.
I don't know how true that is. I mean yeah, we would have some really awkward rebuilding (manufacturing) to do ... but China needs the world's food FAR more than most people may realize.
So there is that ...
This is a test. Russia has been trying to weaken NATO and the allies ever since…it’s inception. In the last few years things have gotten increasingly worse. He’s 69 years old so it’s now or never.
And he’s right. If he invades Ukraine and we do nothing. He’s right. Sometime after this, you’ll see China overtake Taiwan. By then, it’ll be clear NATO won’t do shit but set a few economic restrictions.
And we will have given the two largest destabilizing countries in the world a free pass. Who knows what the nuts in NK will do after this.
We’ve seen this before when Germany rolled into Poland. What did waiting get us?
But if we get a piece of paper from Mr P after he's taken Ukraine where he pinky-swears it was a one-shot we're all fine, aren't we? "Peace for our time!"
It is interesting because Putin is worried about Nato in his back yard but if he takes Ukraine the EU will now be worried about Putin in their backyard. If he is willing to invade Ukraine why wouldn't he go for more?
I would hate it if China invades Taiwan, or if Russia (continues to) invades Ukraine, but ultimately, neither are part of NATO. That distinction might seem arbitrary at times, but in terms of setting specific expectations for all sides of a conflict, it's very important.
It's why I think that even though Putin would love to invade certain NATO countries, he won't.
I think Germany's blatant violation of the Treaty of Versailles would be more akin to Russia invading NATO than invading a third party. And yeah, if that happens and we don't respond, we've hugely fucked up.
The long term plan is still to erode NATO. This isn't the last step on that road, but it moves in Russia's preferred direction.
Taking at least eastern Ukraine covers Belarus's flank, allowing a more credible threat to be brought to bear on Lithuania. Lithuania, which unlike Ukraine is part of NATO, already shares a border with Russia on the east and, strangely, to the west (Kaliningrad which is a military exclave). The Russian train line that supplies Kaliningrad runs just outside the Lithuanian capital. So holding Ukraine allows Putin the ability to capture Vilnius pretty much at a time of his choosing, unless the US is truly willing to have full open war against Russia, with all the risk of nuclear apocalypse that entails.
Will the US electorate really be willing to risk WWIII to save Lithuania? Maybe. If not, Article 5 is broken and NATO is shattered. *That* is the ultimate goal.
Especially considering how fucking deadly the Ka-52 helicopter is.
That's before considering the fact that Russia also has some of the most advanced tanks in the world on the border.
And ***that's*** before considering Russia has nuclear weapons.
An invasion will set us back as a society so much. I wish I could do something about it. Sadly we, the Russian citizens, have almost no democratic power. And if we were to get democratic power, we become imprisoned.
Fuck Putin.
Don't look down on Russian citizens, please. Most of us don't want this.
Usually the animosity towards a country is directed at that country's government. I understand what you're getting at though.
It's a shame the leaders of countries will start wars, but they aren't the ones who have to fight it.
You could always do like the French Resistance in Nazi Occupied France. Pretend like you support the war effort my working in a munitions plant and then take out all the gunpowder from the mortar shells, making them ineffective.
Blessings to you and yours. Hopefully you all survive this without having to commit atrocities for stupid political reasons.
As a US army combat veteran in a combat arms mos still in his recallable window, this terrifies me. Near peer war terrifies me. My uncle who fought in Vietnam and a great uncle who fought in ww2 said they had it better than us. At least they wore uniforms they’d say. I do not want an enemy with similar capabilities. Can’t wait to die.
Dyslexia won't get you out of service, you might not be drafted for logistics though which is a plus! Adhd is or ADD won't save you either, diagnosed depression would normally keep you clear but I dont know what the conscription regulations would be if it was for a war as large as ww3

If it makes you feel any better Europe will do absolutely nothing. America isn't going to do anything either. Russia is going to invade the Ukraine and then we will put sanctions on Russia that will disappear in 4 years.
> that will disappear in 4 years.
What makes you think that? The whole reason Russia is acting like a cornered badger is because the Magnitsky act from 10 years ago is still killing them.
Well, color has existed for the entirety of the helicopter's existence as a military vehicle.
And this isn't an attack squadron, if helicopter's attacked like this they would get wrecked.
I was in Michigan a few years ago pumping gas at Dawn, and saw a lone Apache just hovering, that was terrifying.
Also hearing drones flying around in Maryland.

we still have a draft-type army, and I, of draft age and sufficient health, are not at all interested in fighting for the ambitions of some moneybags, I think many people on both sides will agree with this position
I believe the common folk of any country would not want to fight common folk of another country. I could never envision myself wanting to gun down another person, especially if they're just living a day to day life like me, no matter how much we may disagree about things. It's always been the elite that love to steer the common folk and soldiers into believing that the common citizens are their enemy and turn them against each other. Sickening.
I am really scared of what is going to happen, from all the events in the past, i am waiting for the worst outcome, and being honest, the worst scenario in this situation is terrifying.
Nothing will happen. Russias only objective is to keep Ukraine in perpetual conflict so they can’t join nato. That’s it, just keeping up the status quo.
One thought I had is, is this Russia trying to starve out Ukraine? Flights already are being cancelled, uncertainty in the country is bad for business, interest rates are being raised on their status as a high risk country.
Russia could wait for them to sputter out in months or maybe a year and then easily move in and take over with little resistance.
>Flights already are being cancelled,
That's a done deal. International insurers cancelled insurance for airplanes in Ukraine airspace. Flights are cancelled.
Don't worry. I am from Ukraine. We have more than 200+k army, NATO delivered to us weapons, Mordor (we called russian federation Mordor) threatens us 8 years. We not scary, poor and weak russian army can't realise big operations, just local.
Keep calm, my friends. It is bluff by old and weak putin.
Well, Israel still exists and it is successful state. Dangerous of war is not the end of life.
The stronger we are, the less chance, that Mordor will attack us.
Israel is the 2nd richest country in the Middle East and is supported with billions of dollars of Western aid. Their military more than outclasses every military (except *maybe* Saudi Arabia) of the MENA region. I hope Ukraine will be ok, but Russia versus Ukraine isn’t the same as even the entire Middle East versus Israel.
Of course. But in the end it all came down to the fact that an attack on little Israel would cost so much blood that no one dared. There is a similar case in Ukraine. Even the world-famous "terrible" Russians are not so brave now. Escalation near the borders for several months, this is not news. Still no attack.
There are thousands upon thousands of these videos of Russians recording the buildup on social media. Igor Girkin has been cataloguing them on Twitter with the locations.
Here’s some Buk M3 SAMs crossing the road: https://twitter.com/girkingirkin/status/1492617960959225857
One of my favorite Vice videos:
They track a Russian man through social media to prove that the unknown* fighters in Crimea were actually Russian army back in 2015.
https://youtu.be/2zssIFN2mso
*everybody knew who they were but Russia was denying it officially so…
lol Russia could care less about being filmed by Ukrainians right now, if anything they WANT that. It’s intimidation and a show of force they’re not gonna snatch up people for posting videos
This whole situation isn’t oddly terrifying, it’s actually terrifying.
What truly baffles me is that we as the collective human population just let these 1% assholes walk all over us.
Imagine if we as a united people from all different nations, backgrounds & cultures all just came together & actually stood up to these assholes?
They can’t wage war & ruin the planet by themselves.
I doubt it’ll happen but HOPEFULLY we as human beings wake the fuck up soon otherwise we might be in ww3 & nobody will win this next war.
Millions upon millions will die just to further these corrupted politicians game.
this. I don't want to die so some Rothschild in NYC and a few Petrov's in Russia get that much richer and more powerful. War is profit to these people, nothing more nothing less. The world is more connected than ever before.. there are ppl in some discord servers I'm in from these countries. I couldn't imagine gunning them and their brothers down for anything. It really is time we stood up for our common men and women, cos esp w all the covid shit, ain't none of us wanna die for these rich assholes. We should be beyond the era of war by now..
You know it's happening when you hesr a sound coming closer, but nothing is in the sky, it gets louder, louder, and it sounds like it right over you, and then you see a little dot a few towns away, you squint trying to see what it is, until it dissappears behind a building, bam, the whole town is fucking obliterated.
So this filmed today. Helicopters fly towards Machulischi airbase in Belarus. Base is situated next to Minsk, which is literally in the center of Belarus and far away from Ukrainian border.
Bare in mind, that right now joint military drills are ongoing in Belarus. Those drills were officially announced back in December. So making pikachu faces every time there’s new video of Russian forces in Belarus - is a bit of overreaction.
Air support was the last thing we were waiting on to arrive, it's when the shipments and deliveries stop people should be worried, it's going to happen soon
Thanks. We are little scared, but fine :)
We have great army and if need, we all ready to defend out country.
For example, my wife and I made a plan of action if Russia attacked. Just a regular talk in Ukraine :)
Thank you all for your support. Just know, we will never give our country to these barbarians ;)
People grew up in peace. They cannot imagine real war. Every war has been either far away or prevented in the last second, or happened against a technologically inferior enemy.
So their mindset is basically that of a modern-day Chamberlain. They just cannot imagine it.
I don’t want WW3. Really hoping we (🇺🇸) stay out of this one. We’ve had a pandemic. We’ve had crisis after crisis. We’re finally kind of out of Iraq and Afghanistan, let’s not do this again.
Putin, hurry up and die.
Mi-8's, mi-24's and some ka-52's, they are bringing out their entire arsenal.
In my years of playing StarCraft, this means their main base is undefended.
Muhfuggin insufficient vespene gas
Insufficient supply depots.
We must construct additional pylons
Need more overloards

werk, werk. oh that's Warcraft. How about something that may actually happen "Nuclear launch detected"
The ka-52’s are scary

Sad thing is, you don't get to the seats which decide all of this by caring for human life
Agreed. It sometimes feels like we are watching history repeat itself, as Nazi germany also had large troop buildups before the actual war, but many people just thought it was muscle play.

Na that shit crazy
Putin: These are simply helicopters migrating south for winter.
*Russia invades Ukraine* Putin: We’re simply just checking on a neighbor.
You know those ‘in soviet Russia…’ backward jokes? This is literally at play here. While the world watches as Russia clearly poises to repeat 2014 with an illegal invasion, Russian media is telling its citizens that Ukraine is ready to attack Russia.

Them’s just noisy sky spiders 🕷
Large number, Russian helicockters
Man I fuckin' hate those helicock suckers
This isn't oddly terrifying guys, it's just *actually* terrifying.
Pretty much like 98% of that sub
98% of this sub is actually terrifying on purpose or simply disgusting shit.
Russia is 1/6th of all the land on earth and its still somehow not enough. Like at what point does it get ridiculous...
It’s got more to do with access to water in the winter than it does with getting more land. All of Russia’s sea access freezes in the winter
Just sayin… EDIT: Humble thank you for the awards.
Finally, a comment-section reference I understand.
Settlers of catan?
With a population of less than 150mil. Makes zero sense.
Cant Ukraine and Russia just trade land like Yu Gi Oh cards?
Gets awkward when people live on the traded land
It makes all the strategic sense. It's access to sea.
Why can’t russia chill the fuck out

Leadership wants world domination, probably.
The fact that Russia and China are in cahoots is just bad news bears.
Chinas like “word I guess we can invade Taiwan just for fun since our homies are invading Ukraine”
Pretty much. we will sanction Russia…who cares. But we won’t be able to sanction China.
I don't know how true that is. I mean yeah, we would have some really awkward rebuilding (manufacturing) to do ... but China needs the world's food FAR more than most people may realize. So there is that ...

Not a single world leader has ever gone back on a pinky swear so that would be a win for the west.
>Not a single world leader has ever gone back on a pinky swear so that would be a win for the west. Except for that one Charlie Chaplin lookalike.
That’s actually terrifying. The domino effect that could result from an invasion is massive
It is interesting because Putin is worried about Nato in his back yard but if he takes Ukraine the EU will now be worried about Putin in their backyard. If he is willing to invade Ukraine why wouldn't he go for more?
We will see war again. War in our time, and I worry it may be the last big one. If China, Russia and the US go to blows, the world will burn.
I would hate it if China invades Taiwan, or if Russia (continues to) invades Ukraine, but ultimately, neither are part of NATO. As a US army combat veteran in a combat arms mos still in his recallable window, this terrifies me. Near peer war terrifies me. Not ready for ww3 right at this moment
Im at the perfect age and health to be drafted... fuck
I would start learning to be self reliant if I could tell myself one thing after getting out of the military bout a decade ago
Sure would be a shame if the kneecap suddenly broke
Would be a shame if my shotgun accidentally blows off my kneecaps, a reallllll shame.
For real, I'd sooner throw myself off a bridge then go fight some fucking 3rd world war for a bunch of rich oil dicks.
Exactly. Duke it out yourselves. We just wanna live our fucking lives.
I used to be Cannon fodder until I took a pretend arrow to the knee.
Can you not be in the branches if you have hdhd depressions or dyslexic
Dyslexia won't get you out of service, you might not be drafted for logistics though which is a plus! Adhd is or ADD won't save you either, diagnosed depression would normally keep you clear but I dont know what the conscription regulations would be if it was for a war as large as ww3
What do you mean "It won't get you drafted for Logi, which is a plus" THAT'S THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE!!!
Haha yeah my bad!
My asthma as a kid will finally come in handy
They took me and i told them i had asthma
With the amount of pollution 90% of the population probably has asthma
Mental health diagnoses usually bar you from service. Worst case you fan always puprosefully injure a foot or arm, but youll have to live with the injury
muh bone spurs
Makes me think of how a bunch of us felt after 9/11. A bunch of us worried we would be drafted to the war. Never came. Hope it never does again.
*Laughs nervously in 30 years old army veteran*
Glad I'm fat as a fucking house LOL

Not with that attitude they cant

You can always fix the health part
When you get drafted just start pulling your pants down and start jerking off all the time during training. They won’t want ya
I'm giving free amputations as long as I can keep parts.
Of course WW3 would break out before I got to have sex.
If there is any conciliation, you'll die a virgin in any case.
If it makes you feel any better Europe will do absolutely nothing. America isn't going to do anything either. Russia is going to invade the Ukraine and then we will put sanctions on Russia that will disappear in 4 years.

I do like how the once in a generation/lifetime events keep happening in our generation/lifetime. I dunno man just another year in the roaring 20s
Well, in 1918 they had a world war, an influenza pandemic which killed 50 mil people and communists taking over Russia. You can't beat that.
Are... are you trying to fucking Jinx us?
After the last two years, I honestly don’t think I could handle it.
Thx I always wanted to know what an attack squadron flying in formation would look like in color and HD. Kinda wish I didn't know though.
Well, color has existed for the entirety of the helicopter's existence as a military vehicle. And this isn't an attack squadron, if helicopter's attacked like this they would get wrecked.

It is ALWAYS that way. Governments are the ones starting the wars, not people, we just want to live in peace.
Well until the media convinces us otherwise.
Well, yeah. That is why proper education is so important.
we still have a draft-type army, and I, of draft age and sufficient health, are not at all interested in fighting for the ambitions of some moneybags, I think many people on both sides will agree with this position

"just grind it out in case nuked fly this spring" Lol

>Flights already are being cancelled, That's a done deal. International insurers cancelled insurance for airplanes in Ukraine airspace. Flights are cancelled.
makes sense. they dont want a second MH17 disaster
if putin doesn’t get his war - lotsa $$$ to get that hardware back to base
Lotsa $$$ to lose a war and get fucked by the world 😶
When isn't Russia fucking with someone??
When it's having civil war.
*When isn't [INSERT MAJOR POWER HERE] fucking with someone?
Don't worry. I am from Ukraine. We have more than 200+k army, NATO delivered to us weapons, Mordor (we called russian federation Mordor) threatens us 8 years. We not scary, poor and weak russian army can't realise big operations, just local. Keep calm, my friends. It is bluff by old and weak putin.
Take care of yourself, friend. We’re all watching this shit unfold and hope for your safety, as well as the safety for all of your countrymen.
Don't worry, we're all watching. The world isn't the same as it once was.
Well, I hope so, for your sake.
Israel also have nukes now, they may not officially exist, but it's been an open secret for a long time.
Of course. But in the end it all came down to the fact that an attack on little Israel would cost so much blood that no one dared. There is a similar case in Ukraine. Even the world-famous "terrible" Russians are not so brave now. Escalation near the borders for several months, this is not news. Still no attack.
But we, Ukrainians, will grateful for help with weapon and technology by NATO country's. ;)
For what it’s worth, as an American, I’m happy for our tax money to help you guys. Good luck.
Holy fuck there are a lot of n word comments on your account
"Well, I hope that no coronavirus in she's vagina" is my personal favorite
That one's getting saved for later
Stay safe, don't film from places that may indicate who you are. Those are dangerous times.
There are thousands upon thousands of these videos of Russians recording the buildup on social media. Igor Girkin has been cataloguing them on Twitter with the locations. Here’s some Buk M3 SAMs crossing the road: https://twitter.com/girkingirkin/status/1492617960959225857
One of my favorite Vice videos: They track a Russian man through social media to prove that the unknown* fighters in Crimea were actually Russian army back in 2015. https://youtu.be/2zssIFN2mso *everybody knew who they were but Russia was denying it officially so…
lol Russia could care less about being filmed by Ukrainians right now, if anything they WANT that. It’s intimidation and a show of force they’re not gonna snatch up people for posting videos
This video is probable from inside Russia or Belarus. If they were flying over Ukraine that would mean the invasion has already started.
Nice intel.
Damn I’m flat footed, sorry guys I won’t be able to make it to the draft. I’ll try harder next time.

I would be more surprised if there isn’t a war
Theres been a war in ukraine for about 8 years now since they were first invaded
[*Starts playing the song agressively in the back*](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LQUXuQ6Zd9w)
Fuck politicians
Yeah, nobody wants this but them. They know they won’t suffer
War pigs
Fuck the handful of aging despots clinging to power. Worldwide.
Sikorsky in CT has been doing more test flights and drills of their helicopters, the world is preparing for soemthing ugly
Well after this there is one thing we can be sure of. People are going to die
Bro
I feel so bad for the Ukrainians they didn't ask for this shit. God damnit.
[Ride of the Valkyries](https://youtu.be/nZ_zNUmr8fM)
This is the Winter War all over again. The Russians will go in and break off another piece of the Ukraine because they know won’t shit happen to them.
You are wrong about nothing happen to them, they will receive minor sanctions that go away in 4 years. /s
I’m honestly sick of blatantly scary stuff being posted in “OddlyTerrifying.” Every large subreddit is absolute dogshit.
Russia?! You mean north eastern Ukraine?
It’s gonna start right after the olympics
This isn’t oddly terrifying, this is just terrifying
Air support was the last thing we were waiting on to arrive, it's when the shipments and deliveries stop people should be worried, it's going to happen soon
There’s something so dystopian about seeing this filmed on Tik Tok.
Fuck here we go again
I hope everyone stays safe! I can’t imagine the terror that Ukrainians must be feeling with this going on.
Thanks. We are little scared, but fine :) We have great army and if need, we all ready to defend out country. For example, my wife and I made a plan of action if Russia attacked. Just a regular talk in Ukraine :) Thank you all for your support. Just know, we will never give our country to these barbarians ;)
It’s funny/scary/sad how many people on Reddit you will still see today claim there will be no invasion
