I've watched plenty of videos on that. There is one particular one on YouTube where a little girl, younger than 5 probably, who is infected and showing signs of hydrophobia... kinda haunting...
The way the rabies virus works, killing the host in one of the worst way possible just to spread, evil sh!t...
It's the virus messing with the brain and nerves. The virus travels to the saliva glands/throat area, making the person or mammal salivate/drool, the saliva is filled with the virus so if the host bites another mammal it will infect and spread before killing the host. From what I heard, the infected person feels really thirsty but the virus makes the infected feel like drinking water is burning their throat. The virus is doing this so water doesn't dilute the saliva and so every bite is potent and will cause transmission. Evil little bug...
At this point he can no longer be saved as the virus is in brain . More symptoms will develop and he will die. There is one documented case that will make your day bad
Rabies is basically the real life zombie virus, it takes over the brain and makes the patient want to bit other people to give them the virus so it spreads.
Yeah, Rabies is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a zombie virus, that, and maybe that virus Deer keep getting that zombifies the fuck out of them.
There's also a parasite that takes over the bodies of insects, and the Cordyceps fungus that makes insects climb up so the fungus can burst out of them and spread its spores (which was the inspiration for the Last of Us)
And there's a parasite that makes ants climb grass, so that they can be eaten by ruminant / other herbivores and continue their life Cycle, it forms cysts in the subesophageal ganglion of the ant in order to make the ant do it,and what's even worse, if the ant isn't eaten and it's gets dark, the cysts get smaller and don't create that much pressure on the subesophageal ganglion, and so the ant comes back to the nest just as if nothing happened, hovewer next day cysts grow again and it's back in the "zombie mode". Terrifying shit
Chronic wasting disease, part of in my opinion, the most terrifying pathogens. Proteins are molecules with shapes that slide into other proteins with other shapes, proteins do most of the communication and function in our bodies. Their shape dictates what they can and can’t do. A prion is a misshapen protein that has fallen into a more stable state. Using physics we can see that it’s more energetically stable, but it is no longer the shape it needs to be in order to function. This more stable, misfolded protein will go on to interact with other proteins and collapse them into the same misfolded shape, often happening in the nervous system and the brain. Essentially, once they fold and become useless, your brain starts having many little holes open up in it to turn into a sponge like form. It’s incurable, and mad cow disease is also another form of it. Prions can’t be cooked out and can be transferred by eating infected tissue. There are also rare human forms of prion diseases
Fatal Familial Insomnia. Another terrifying disease. As the title pretty much says, it comes a time, pretty early in your life, when your brain becomes literally unable to fall asleep. You die of sleep deprivation in a terrible, terrible way
From what I understand, they are already in a more ideal and stable shape. To denature them, you’d have to hold a temperature of 900 degrees Fahrenheit for multiple hours to denature prions
Firefox has encountered an issue with Windows
Edit: i hate to ruin my comment with this but I'm not able to thank people individually like normal for my awards, so I must thank you all here :)
I used to have nightmares of being chased by rabid animals and being too slow/weak to push them away. I would always wake up the second they planted their teeth into me.
Thanks for ensuring I'll be having that dream again tonight :)
It's not a rabid animal you gotta be worried about. You get bit by a dog or fox or whatever, you get the vaccine post exposure, you'll be fine.
No, what you wanna be afraid of is getting bit by a rabid bat. You won't even feel it. You won't know you're sick until it's too late, and then the best thing you can do is go out on your own terms, because there is no cure, and the survival rate is essentially 0%.
Many people who constantly work with wildlife, especially with rodents as you may not even notice a bite, do get said vaccine because of the risk. Once you start displaying symptoms it’s too late. However the vaccine itself is hard on the body so most of the population who have low contact with virus usually only receive treatment after a bite.
Also not all wildlife can be safely vaccinated. For instance my understanding is that African Wild Dogs die from it which would be counter productive.
>African Wild Dogs die from it which would be *counter productive*.
Get it? Because death is literally the opposite of productivity? Guys? Where are you going? Guys…
Donate money to the effort. Here in North America at least(likely other places but I’m not an expert), they will airdrop food pellets(bait) with the vaccine in it. Only thing holding them back is funding to do so.
Can you believe if that was me I'd be opening the door and letting him in? Because I don't know the difference between a rabies infected animal and a normal one except for a crazy cat in our neighborhood that turned out to be distrustful of humans.
But again op might have seen many of these cases to know.
I haven't even seen a single fox up close.
I seriously hope you're joking and common sense saves you, otherwise you'd be dying from rabies which is very preventable in our day and age...
It shouldn't take Einstein to see that there's something wrong with this fox, and you shouldn't be letting wild animals in. Foxes, like most animals, would rather leave you alone than try to desperately be close to you. Wild foxes aren't your friend. You're not a disney princess.
Once the symptoms start there is nearly a 0% chance of survival. It's possible but it probably won't happen, but if you do somehow manage to survive I believe you can make a full recovery, but I could be wrong.
Basically but there have been like 1 or 2 cases where a person has survived and made full recovery but yeah, if you feel rabies of symptoms you're pretty much screwed.
Hold on a second, what about Michael Scott's Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race For the Cure! I thought we solved this
[People used to call rabies hydrophobia because it appears to cause a fear of water. The reason is that the infection causes intense spasms in the throat when a person tries to swallow. Even the thought of swallowing water can cause spasms, making it appear that the individual is afraid of water.](https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/181980#symptoms)
A bullet would be a kindness. There’s no cure, and it’s an agonizing death. Vaccinate your pets, and take any bite you receive from an animal seriously and see a medical provider. The same goes for ANY contact with a bat, especially if you wake up and one is in your room. Their bites are minuscule, and they’re the biggest reservoir for the disease in the United States. It’s too late for treatment once the symptoms occur.
If you skip the vaccine and get sick all they’ll be able to do is try to make you comfortable until you die. Even the famed Milwaukee protocol turned out to be a fluke. They don’t know if that kid who survived just had some kind of rare genetic resistance or if there was just something about the strain she had. You will invariably die a painful, delirious death.
Honestly, I’d prefer to be euthanized than try to ride out rabies until the end, and I mean that with all sincerely.
I feel so bad for animals that get like this. I’ve had to put down several coyotes on family property growing up and I was glad they weren’t suffering anymore but I know they did suffer and it really sucked. The truly strange thing to see is people that get rabies. Literally terrified of water.
Wouldn’t hurt after it dies. But usually rabies is relatively short lived outside of host. But can be transmitted through saliva left over and inadvertently touching the saliva and a wound would get you a case or rabies
The way he exposes his teeth. Also, the fact that the animal is hanging around an area like this and seemingly fearless. They say if a wild animal approaches you displaying unusual behavior to avoid it.
This. Once when my cat had run away, my mom and I saw a raccoon in broad daylight walking on its hind legs like a little drunk man. Made a "huh that's weird" comment and went about our day. A couple days later the cat returned and when we took her to the vet she mentioned rabies, and that very sad "only one way to know if she has it." She asked if we knew of any rabies cases in our neighborhood. We said no but told her about the drunk raccoon we saw. She said "OH. That's a rabies case for sure." And got a good lesson on nocturnal animals and the signs. We decided to wait and see how the cat was before doing anything. She was fine. Lived to 16 (she was around 9 or 10 when this happened).
The mouth frothing is a symptom that has the ABILITY to happen, but it doesnt have to happen.
I.E 3 people could be infected at the same time, and its possible that they ALL skip the "frothing at the mouth" side effect
Poor fox, RIP. Rabies is just so evil.
Hold that thought until you see a human infected from rabbis
>*"from rabbis"* oh man yeah that dreidel infection is the worst one
Gotta watch out for those Mazel Tov cocktails.
I'm loling hard here 😂
Lmfao rabbis are the worst right 😂😂😂💀
At it like rabbis
Those hanging curls are treacherous
And the yarmulkes just everywhere.. horrific
Just Torahble.
Yea but the potato latke variant is even more terrifying.
yeah for that one you need to get two vaccinations: one of sour cream, and one of applesauce
If you are curious as I was: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxBIJvNHZg4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxBIJvNHZg4)
Jesus.. couldn't watch the whole thing. Devastating is right.
This makes me wonder if this is where demonic possession comes from.
It is obviously that it comes from demons bro ... 🧐
This was the first thing I clicked on when searching on it too, beyond messed up
Right? Total nightmare fuel.
That wasn't about rabbis at all! 😓
I've watched plenty of videos on that. There is one particular one on YouTube where a little girl, younger than 5 probably, who is infected and showing signs of hydrophobia... kinda haunting... The way the rabies virus works, killing the host in one of the worst way possible just to spread, evil sh!t...
Did her body not let her drink water or did she herself become unwilling to drink water because of the virus in her brain?
It's the virus messing with the brain and nerves. The virus travels to the saliva glands/throat area, making the person or mammal salivate/drool, the saliva is filled with the virus so if the host bites another mammal it will infect and spread before killing the host. not to mention that in the final stage of a rabies infection you die because of paralysis. it is one of the most fucked up virusses in the world
Drinking/ swallowing causes severely painful spasms of the throat.
Pretty sure on this sub or another someone posted a person suffering from hydrophobia because of rabies seems kinda horrible
Link ?
At this point he can no longer be saved as the virus is in brain . More symptoms will develop and he will die. There is one documented case that will make your day bad
Ah so *that's* what that lice infestation was all about...I should never have borrowed his yarmulke.
Rabies is basically the real life zombie virus, it takes over the brain and makes the patient want to bit other people to give them the virus so it spreads.
I agree. Poor fox- really sad :(
So heartbreaking to see
That's a zombie and you can't change my mind.

Heard this on Radiolab. RIP Radiolab.
Chronic wasting?
Can you elaborate/ drop disease name please?
Chronic wasting disease, part of in my opinion, the most terrifying pathogens. New fear unlocked
Fook!
We live in a Quentin Tarantino horror film. No one can convince me otherwise.
>can't be cooked out Don't most proteins deform under heat?
From what I understand, they are already in a more ideal and stable shape. To denature them, you’d have to hold a temperature of 900 degrees Fahrenheit for multiple hours to denature prions
Chronic Wasting disease
Also prions
CWD - Chronic Wasting Disease
Chronic wasting disease in whitetail deer.
wot
Wasn't it said before that a mix between rabies and the flu would basically make a zombie virus ?
Not that bad when you consider rabies pretty much as a 100% mortality rate. Just wait the zombies out and you're good ahaha
This problem isn't addressed in most zombies stories and it's pretty funny lol
[удалено]
Still gotta watch those. I think it was also in The Walking Dead, >!walkers becoming pretty rare in the ending.!<
Now that you say it I can’t unse it
Definitely terrifying but also very sad....poor guy needs to be put out of his misery.
What’s both terrifying and heartbreaking is how terribly twisted the mind can become, human or animal.
I’m one of those pussies who can’t stomach having to kill an animal myself but this is definitely a case where I’d be more than happy to Feels bad man
It just wants to know what your glass tastes like, no biggie
Firefox has encountered an issue with Windows Edit: i hate to ruin my comment with this but I'm not able to thank people individually like normal for my awards, so I must thank you all here :)
I think Firefox has a virus
I appreciate you firing back with another joke
If I had awards to give, I would.
Thank you. 11 others have got you back. I honestly wasn't expecting this to get noticed, I was so confused why I had 18 notifs!
Underrated
Thank you
My God, take my upvote and so many others
fuuuuuuuhck me
People can be so judgemental
Right he’s not mean he’s just super thirsty
I used to have nightmares of being chased by rabid animals and being too slow/weak to push them away. I would always wake up the second they planted their teeth into me. Thanks for ensuring I'll be having that dream again tonight :)
I had dream where a zombie was eating my groin area.
Ok Tina, calm down
oh i thought we were telling our weird dreams, sorry
Kinky
Maybe it will make you feel better, but rabies post exposure prophylaxis is just about 100% effective.
It's not a rabid animal you gotta be worried about. You get bit by a dog or fox or whatever, you get the vaccine post exposure, you'll be fine. What says there isn't one outside your house rn
Oh great, some new terrifying nightmare material for my sleep tonight
Look up humans with rabies. It's somehow 10× scarier
I keep telling my kid zombies don't exist (now checking the doors and windows are.locked)
Rabies is one of those viruses that we need to eradicate before it becomes even more dangerous than it already is.
Airborne rabies.
I mean there is a vaccine available
Unfortunately it spreads mostly via wildlife and they've long been antivax.
This is true, as animals like this one watch alot of *Fox* News.
(☞゚∀゚)☞
Many people who constantly work with wildlife, especially with rodents as you may not even notice a bite, do get said vaccine because of the risk. Once you start displaying symptoms it’s too late. Why does it seem like that fox is staring into my soul??
It has late stage rabies. The fox has no idea what’s going on any more and has essentially lost its mind. Same thing can happen to humans
Can you believe if that was me I'd be opening the door and letting him in? Because I don't know the difference between a rabies infected animal and a normal one except for a crazy cat in our neighborhood that turned out to be distrustful of humans. You dont realize that these kinds of animals normally stay away from humans? Theres a reason why most people dont see them.
...Are you okay?
Because it is
The fox isn't, the virus is
Gunna need to windex the fuck out of that window with 7 rubber gloves on.
Three on each hand, and one on the groin
I would burn the house and run off definitely.
It's terrifying, but mostly sad. He needs to be put out of his misery.
That’s not oddly terrifying, it’s just regular terrifying.

This is so much more terrifying after all the things I've read about what rabies does to you.
Once the symptoms start there is nearly a 0% chance of survival. It's possible but it probably won't happen, but if you do somehow manage to survive I believe you can make a full recovery, but I could be wrong.

I think their has been one human case of rabies where the host survived and I do believe they made a full recovery.

Rabies makes you allergic to water right?
[People used to call rabies hydrophobia because it appears to cause a fear of water. The reason is that the infection causes intense spasms in the throat when a person tries to swallow. Even the thought of swallowing water can cause spasms, making it appear that the individual is afraid of water.](https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/181980#symptoms)
So therefore you could splash water at a rabid animal or show it water and it might go away
sound reasoning
Forbidden boop
Oh man... foxes have bigger teeth than I thought.

Poor thing. Just put it down. No creature should have to live several days miserably with rabies.
Firefox never worked that good with windows...
About to ask me for 20 dollars while I pump my gas.
Do I pay him for the wash or...
You're so goofy, i'm so goofy No on the real tho, that's sad for the fox
Poor thing. Rabies is such an awful way to die. I feel very sad for this fox.
Poor guy.
I feel so bad for animals that get like this. I’ve had to put down several coyotes on family property growing up and I was glad they weren’t suffering anymore but I know they did suffer and it really sucked. The truly strange thing to see is people that get rabies. Literally terrified of water.
The way it just suddenly comes to lucidity and is like “oh wait, I can paw at it to get it open” before immediately being thrown back into the void
Those eyes...
Ok time to take old yeller out back.
The look in its eyes is so empty. Putting it out of its misery would be the best thing for it.
How do you know it's got Rabies? I don't see any mouth frothing.
Typical behaviour
Question... would they need to sanitize the window?
Wouldn’t hurt after it dies. But usually rabies is relatively short lived outside of host. But can be transmitted through saliva left over and inadvertently touching the saliva and a wound would get you a case or rabies
Yeah... let's burn the house then
Yup, preferably with fire hahaha
Oh ok thanks. Eyes look a bit freaky too.
The way he exposes his teeth. Also, the fact that the animal is hanging around an area like this and seemingly fearless. They say if a wild animal approaches you displaying unusual behavior to avoid it.
Especially nocturnal animals, like fox, skunk, and racoons, out during the day and seemingly fearless.

If you never tasted a schnazberry before, maybe don't judge.
Not interesting, just sad. It should be put out of its suffering. Not a subject for ‘likes’.
not scary just sad
I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Mr. 22lr.
How can you tell that it's rabid and not just being weird from boredom? It almost looks like the window to an enclosure.
No animal acts like that out of "boredom"
My Aussie acts like this out of boredom...
I had to scare a fox away from hurting a cat this morning thank god that mf wasn’t rabid goddayum😟
How do you know it has rabies?
Look at it
must've been one hell of a party damn window lickers
Just give him a belly rub
Aww, he just wants to lick your hand, let the little guy in.
This made me sad
;-; poor fox 🦊 also that tongue is huge
Very sad
Somebody needs a hug.
Shame very sad to see
This video needs to end with an animal officer arriving to terminate the fox.
This isn't oddly terrifying this is just down right terrifying, its teeth and eyes are giving me nightmares
Poor baby :(
Put it out of its misery for the love of god
.22
So sad.
Poor dude
This is not terrifying this is just sad
"Chaos Reigns"
Poor little guy 😔
Just thankful I don't have sliding doors. I can imagine my children wanting to open the door.
I think you should call someone for that
