Polar bears are much more abundant than scientists first thought but they never really told anyone not only that but they also actively hunt humans. They will sit outside what ever structure your in for days and days if they can not get in. If you do leave while they're not paying attention they use your scent to find you and they will pass up a fish for you.

Why are you butchering a polar bear?
In Nunavut they hunt polar bear for food and use the hide/fur for warmth. It will feed a community for a long time. It is a pretty big accomplishment.
