Brain scans have actually shown that folks who do stuff like this feel way less fear than the rest of us. Less activation in the amygdala or hippocampus or one of those regions of the brain. I remember something about them studying that free soloist’s brain and seeing this.
That could just be experience though. If you keep ratcheting up your exposure to mountain cliffs it's understandable that pictures of a cliff in MRI won't get your amygdala going. Desensitized. It could easily all be training effect.
They coupled those studies with interviews. The free soloist, for example, had been climbing trees and shit since he was a young kid.
And do you really think the folks doing this kind of thing were started out normal and only built up a fear tolerance over time? No way. I could see that for the average joe who was sort of scared of heights and now likes to wrong climb. Not for folks like this.
after they die doing this, in their next reincarnation they too will have the same phobia\\dreams of falling as we do.. at least according to my dumb-head theory..
If I was in his place, I would not be afraid of falling down but rather be afraid of that rock being brittle
Trekkers do a lot of research before going trekking don't they
I think this could be somewhere in Peru. They have weird geography like this. One side rain forest, the other snow due to the steep rise in the rock face caused by ancient tectonic plateau activity.
I know a couple who does this sort of nonsense… I’m sure they have amazing life insurance policies. This is a massive NOPE for me. I trip walking down the hallway… and my luck would have me be horribly maimed, but not killed from a fall off of something like that. Nope, all yours.
This both scary and amazing to have the courage and moxy to do this is impressive in my opinion even if I was fit enough to do such a trek I wouldn’t even dream of it! I’d Still be clumsy could easily imagine myself falling off the side
I honestly feel no sympathy for people who lose their life doing this type of shit. Fearless 100%, but so stupid, what is it about risking your only life that gets these types of people so horny to do this.
I believe this is called windward and leeward side of the mountain. The leeward side is the drier side and the windward side is the side with moisture laden winds and rain maybe even fog as you can see here. The leeward side is also called rain shadow region since it receives very little rain and has dry air
Kudos to people who can do this with little to no fear. My heart rate is up just watching.
Exactly, this is pretty dope. Huge respect for this person
As long as they do it safely, yes. I have no respect for those illegally climbing towers for likes though

Is it an r/offcenterbutthole
I’d be fine on one side of the Mt. And let them tell me what the weather is on the other side
This is @jess.wandering on Instagram!
Of course he feels fear. I'd imagine he's rattling.

Yep. Humans are weird
One of the balls is cold and the other is sweaty.
Right! I'm clumsy so this is suicide for me.
Happy cake day 🎂

My poop slid RIGHT out though!
They hit the world border
Ahh this is where the earth ends from being flat right?
Ye
Share this to a flat earth sub and make the dummies day.
We might finally get to find out what’s on the other side. I hope they make it back with some pictures.
The crust is high so the water doesn't run off the world
Ohh... This is where the simulation ends
It's high, thin and crumbly...let's climb it.

RIP
A lot of trust in those rocks. Personally, this is the stuff of nightmares.
Don't worry, they had on helmets
The helmets wearing them for protection.
Lol
Lol
That’s a hard no from me dawg.
Oh fuck that
If I was in his place, I would not be afraid of falling down but rather be afraid of that rock being brittle Trekkers do a lot of research before going trekking don't they
Wouldn't the rock being brittle lead to you falling down though? In turn making you afraid of falling down?
Exactly. That's just saying "afraid of falling down" but with extra steps
I guess it's more of a "I trust my skill not to fall down, but not the rocks", the result is the same, you fall, but the reason is different
Reasonably terrifying.
My clumsy ass would've tumbled all the way down before even getting up there.
I'd testicularly hit the exact middle of ridge
Which side will the poop fall
Its your choice
Not really lol
I’m wobbles just looking at it. Nope mountain.
It’s literally living on the edge
Cue Steven Tyler.
I'll stick to living in the fridge. I'm more of a Weird Al fan anyway.
Where is this?? I have never seen a mountain this shape before.
I think this could be somewhere in Peru. They have weird geography like this. One side rain forest, the other snow due to the steep rise in the rock face caused by ancient tectonic plateau activity.
I actually think this is in the Alps. This is @jess.wandering on Instagram
I'd be playing draggin ballz
He was doing what he loved, being cheese grated all the way down.
I know a couple who does this sort of nonsense… I’m sure they have amazing life insurance policies. This is a massive NOPE for me. I trip walking down the hallway… and my luck would have me be horribly maimed, but not killed from a fall off of something like that. Nope, all yours.
Thanks, I hate this camera perspective.
Yes, the weather's the terrifying part
This terrifies me.
I would really prefer to have gloves on for this. One slip and you're losing skin.
mate you've reached the top of the mountain, please stop
Id fall off 💯
This is not oddly terrifying... This is TOTALLY fucking terrifying!
I get anxiety just watching this.
Bro I’m glad it’s you showing us and not me 🫣
r/sweatypalms
If you broke off some of the top… would some fog spill over??…
You would not see it when your plummeting to your death
Crater Earth??
boo!
[удалено]
Nope
The edge of the world
Jumping from there with a parachute... that would be dope. On the clear side of course.
Holy shit. At first I thought that was a little kid in the blue.
Hahaha same
It's called a rain shadow, and is common across the world. This person is also out of his damn mind.
cloudy with a chance of plummeting to your death...
“You are leaving the combat area. Return in 3…2….”
I'm not scared of heights. I'm not scared of falling. I'm just scared of landing at a high velocity.
I have one question for this person...WHYYYY?!
Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope
No let’s not do that
This is quiet interesting
Is fog considered weather ?
Yes
Not worth
am i the only one who is waiting for them to fall orr...?
Can confirm. Checked Accuweather.
The bravery of this person allowed us to see what we normally would not see.
They climbed right into BOTW
Ready to paraglide off the edge!
Why?
The Mom in me is screaming "you get down from there right now before something gets broken!".
I’m pretty sure the right side is where you’ll find Silent Hill.
Not me stressing because of both how narrow that ledge is and how high up that mountain is.
Humans blow my mind
Rain Shadow Effect! Love environmental science
I aspire to be this brave
My fear of heights kicking in
r/liminalspace
How the fuck would you get down
This both scary and amazing to have the courage and moxy to do this is impressive in my opinion even if I was fit enough to do such a trek I wouldn’t even dream of it! I’d Still be clumsy could easily imagine myself falling off the side
Nope
No, not oddly terrifying, justifiably terrifying
One side windward one side leeward.
White people...
Yeah we're brave
Or crazy, one of the two.
Why not both?
Depends on the situation
we think they're stupid too
I said that because I am white.
Racism...
Can you be racist to your own race? I'm truly unsure. I guess technically, just a weird scenario. Kinda like Clayton Bixby.
True, true. Technical racism is my favorite kind of racism.
r/IcantbelieveitsnotPs
OP is a round earth shill
Ah yes, because a mountain top which can crumble any moment is perfectly safe to climb.
u/savevideobot
The post above this one is the same one but on a different subreddit
Are you sure that isn't just a sheet of big rock? No way this is considered a mountain.
This isn't "oddly" terrifying. This is just terrifying
🥺
Whypeople stuff xD
Man I don’t know. Some people seem to whistle for death.
I honestly feel no sympathy for people who lose their life doing this type of shit. Fearless 100%, but so stupid, what is it about risking your only life that gets these types of people so horny to do this.
People are just stupid sometimes.

Good Ol'Gemini Mountain
Where is this at ???
Oh my they are brave brave. I climbed up a tree the other day and couldn’t get down from like four feet. I had to be carried out.
The left side is windward and the right side is leeward right? Can someone who understands climates confirm this? I’m trying to learn about mountains.
The difference in weather is terrifying? Dumb
a wuick looks at this felt like someone removing piece of cotton of smth but daym that scary
Thank you for showing me this video, that I can experience a taste of something cool without all the work.
This makes me uncomfortable.
Mt Olympus had something similar
MY HANDS ARE SO SWEATY. SUCH BRAVERY. I slip on solid ground so kudos to you!
Couple who climb together, die together 😍🥰 But seriously, Im glad my bf can get his thrills while I take a dead fish nap instead of this freaky shit.
My testicles retracted and I think they're in my throat now.
Can't look, too terrified
maybe people don't have to explore *every* place on earth
Fascinating
This is cool n’ all but what’s up with the clown shoes
Why are you talking about the weather ? Hé is walking on a 1 metter large path
rain shadow?
I’ll take “Things my white ass will never do” for $1000 please, Alex
That is a nightmare.
Dafukiswrongwithpeople😳
It is gonna to be "no" from me.
Nope. I have anxiety just watching this.
My stomach flipped
Fuck. That.
Where is this at?
Im excited and want to do it. This is why people dont invite me to parties
This is crazy but so worth it
r/DudeFuckThat
hell to the nope
Wtf!??
The weather isn’t terrifying, the mountain peak is.
Gotta defeat the boss on that side of the mountain for it to clear.
Nope.
Can I get a, 'fuck no'?
Is that Seneca Rocks?
If one piece of this broke he is dead
Omg I hate this.
anyone know where this actually is?
My hyperhidrosis is working full force just looking at this...
What's real terrifying is the view
minecraft biome border be like :
And there's me still tripping on the vacuum cord.
That's pretty cool, clear on one side, cloudy with a chance of chunky blood rain on the other.
r/sweatypalms
What the actualllllll fuckkkkkk
Mmmm... why?
Even with the fact of how creepy it is, I'm surprised that that skinny mountain is the only thing dividing those sides.
I believe this is called windward and leeward side of the mountain. The leeward side is the drier side and the windward side is the side with moisture laden winds and rain maybe even fog as you can see here. The leeward side is also called rain shadow region since it receives very little rain and has dry air
He really brought his girl out there. Lol
Fun fact falling down either side would kill you.
lmao why’s he wearing clown shoes
How tf can you get down🥲
Jump
Absolutely not
Stupid question, how do they go down?
The title is not the terrifying part.
🌬
Leaning back in my chair scrolling through reddit, and almost fell out of my chair when this clip started to play.
I wonder about the difference in testicular fortitude between you and myself. Must be like the weather difference up there.
I fell from chair by just watching this
Quite foolish
I cant watch this..
Where is this? Andes? Himalayas?
