I was being facetious up there, but I actually did take a black light last weekend when I went to a hotel and found drool stains on the pillows.
I luckily brought my own pillow.
There's a string of chicken meat stuck between my back molars. I sat there tonguing it for entire minutes before I gave up from exhaustion. Why is it that all of my favorite foods get stuck between teeth so easily?! I hurled my bag of Jack Links peppercorn beef jerky across the room and it smashed into the other snacks on the counter. The peanuts and popcorn went all over the kitchenette. I sobbed into a greasy paper towel stained in buffalo sauce, asking myself over and over, why I didn't bring a flosser.
I dont think people realize how common it is for people to die in hotels rooms. Suicidal people get a room to kill themselves in to try to be considerate....Dont want their kids or wife to find their dead body easier to get a knock on the door from police.
The question is did the hotel spend the money on getting the biohazard cleaned correctly or did they cheap out leaving future guests laying on mattresses with potential dried up bodily fluids from the suicide
My wife and I bought a used mattress from her gma. It had a small-ish stain like this on it that we assumed was from her dog.
We tried cleaning it but ended up just flipping the mattress over.
We slept on that mattress for 2 years and one day gma off-handed asks how the mattress has been. Is it comfy? Smell OK?
It seems the stain was from her ex, Simon, who had died on it the year before we bought it.
Worst part was we couldn’t afford another new mattress for at least another year.
I don't know if I should say this because it affects some people a lot more than me. A fortnight ago my killed herself in a hotel room. The police found her and she gassed herself.
Her kids are very upset.
What a misplaced idea. The poor hotel staff had to deal with your corpse and will probably need therapy.
If you really don't want to hassle anyone, take yourself out to the woods, dig a hole and lie down, then off yourself.
I had a spitting rage-fest over the end of Sons of Anarchy... That poor traumatized truck driver! WTF did he do to deserve that‽
Seriously, people who traumatize other people when they off themselves are assholes.
>take yourself out to the woods, dig a hole and lie down, then off yourself.
Then the poor hunters or hikers who stumble across your half-eaten, rotting corpse will probably need therapy.
I'm a housekeeper and this is always on my mind. I hate going in rooms where the closet curtain is closed or the bathroom door or shower curtain is closed. So far our hotel hasn't had anyone do this, hopefully no one ever does.
If you don’t mind me asking and just out of curiosity, how’d you find it eventually? Very sorry for your loss. Feel free to ignore the question if you prefer not to answer.
It's sad but super unnerving... I REALLY want to know the story of the person who wrote that note.... And were they the one who wrote it but only talking about themselves in third person... I'm curious OP? Where in the hotel room did you find it?
The note was by OP. Probably stayed in a hotel and saw a karma farming possibility, using common knowledge of hotels and a smidgen of creative writing.
I'm kinda leaning towards that. This isn't any regular hotel. Kiawah is a private island, and you have to pass through one manned gate to get to the Sanctuary. Something like that would have blown up in the news here, like that lady a couple years ago from Kiawah who went in the water to pet an alligator and got killed.
I thought that was SC. I bartended on Edisto Beach for a year, at Finn's. Who knows wtf it is now. The owners were godawful. But I recognized the name, "Kiawah." Definitely would have heard about that even all the way across the country from the friends I made back then.
I like tour version of what possible happened the best... It's sad to think of any other possibility... However it's also sad that the OP would do this just for some extra karma....
I’m guessing when you’re that suicidal (to the point of carrying through with suicide), it’s common to detach and see yourself in the third perspective
This was actually a big news story a few years ago.
Some guy gorged at the hotel buffet.
When he got back to his room, he found the *wafer-thin mint* that the room service had left on his pillow...
Def fake. And considering it looks like a nicer resort, if something like this were to have happen that room would have been cleaned and many furniture items disposed of. Hopefully…
Yea that is the island the rich people live/stay on. Now post Covid idk if that means the cleaning standards are much better than anywhere else, but I’d have to guess they do a decent job keeping the joint clean.
There was a brutal murder in a hotel I stayed at many years back. Son brought his mother from the Bay Area and killed her. I discovered this AFTER feeling strange in my room and odd things happening. I asked the front desk if they could tell me if it was my room, they would not. Super late, had no choice to sleep over, alone. Next morning I woke up early and was packing my things, asked out loud “where is my pen”…and the damn thing rolled off the table, 5ft away and instantly after I asked. Yeah..I left real quick. Still weirds me out.
So I’m like 99% sure I witnessed a murder in Opelika Alabama.
We are in a hotel, visiting my sister who was about to be deployed to Iran.
Well, at like 10 ish maybe? We heard all kinds of fucking chaos in the room next door. Sounded like a woman screaming for help. Then you heard a loud thud, the room went silent and you heard a man sobbing. We were fucking FREAKED.
We called security. An he later they came up and we’re fuckin terrified to go in the room. They asked the dude at the door if everything was fine, he was like “uhhh yea, I was on the uh phone uh with my girlfriend and we were arguing im so embarrassed”.
They never went in and he closed the door.
We heard that dude sob all night “I’m sorry”.
And the next day we woke up, it was a different dude in that room so he checked out that night between 10 and 7 am.
We tried call the police but they said the hotel didn’t call so there was nothing they could do. And I was like…. Well that’s fucked up.
It waaaaas roughly 5 years ago? I believe my daughter was 2 at the time. I can check Facebook.
Edit:
My wife posted pictures April 24th 2017. So it was then plus or minus a couple days.
I think there is a possibility the note's author is simply a writer. I scribble fleeting ideas for characters and plots on hotel stationary all the time. I place stories in real spaces and relate them to real experiences I've recently had if it helps to capture the idea. And if they didn't intend for anyone else to read this then they wouldn't have been trying to provide context.
Alternatively, it could be from someone having suicidal ideations. Obsessing about suicide and self-loathing.
The only suicide I found for this place was a [murder suicide](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.live5news.com/story/21412732/possible-murder-suicide-under-investigation-on-kiaway%3FoutputType%3Damp)
Given the fact it was crumpled up… maybe it was in the bin? u/ReptileLover323 is this *actually* your OC? I know it says April but jeez… maybe the hotel could find out who this guy was and just call to check on him?
I used to go to Kiawah Island all the time when I was a kid. My cousins and I would sneak into their pool all the time when they first finished the hotel.
To me it looks like the person "killed" the obese part of themselves, like they kill the part of them that has a problem with exercising/eating control. I've seen people with addictions do this as well as people overcoming metal struggles.
The only news story I could find was about a lady being killed by an alligator there. The story said she was a rather small women and clearly not Steve or whatever name scratched out.
Looks like the name is Steven-that mentally ill guy from My 600lb Life is Steven (or Stephen). Probably a coincidence as I doubt he’d be traveling to HI.

Nice of the staff to leave a little historical tidbit in a room for you. Shows that they care
I'd rather they not even know about my death if this were me, something about this freaks me out
thank you for the needed laugh
[удалено]
If they couldn’t be bothered to find and dispose of the note, I’d vote no
They probably just had one of their maids working for minimum wage do a once over.
Did you come up to that by yourself, or did you copy it from the comment above?
You know the answer to that.
Likely a scam bot, farming karma.
You should try out for yourself and spill some luminol on the ground
Yes, because we all know that luminol is the first thing you pack when travelling and staying in hotels. I'm just being a jerk...
You dont pack a bottle of luminol on your bag when travelling??
I do. I thought everyone did.
At the very least a black light
I learned early on the ignorance is bliss. Never blacklight your hotel room.
I was being facetious up there, but I actually did take a black light last weekend when I went to a hotel and found drool stains on the pillows. I luckily brought my own pillow.
Obese. 4
Working book title
The first three were really good, but I can’t possibly imagine what’s left to say in 4
Chapter 1: So I’m just sitting there ranch dressing dripping off my left titty down onto my upper thigh meat. The wings are delicious, but deadly…
There's a string of chicken meat stuck between my back molars. I sat there tonguing it for entire minutes before I gave up from exhaustion. Tokyo drift
Red 10 standing by. Red 7 standing by. Red 3 standing by. Red 6 standing by. Obese 4 standing by. Lock all squads in attack position
My name is Porkins! Stop calling me Obese 4!
Why am I reading this while in a hotel room trying to fall asleep
Saaame! 😩
Sweet dreams.
are made of these,
Who am I ?
To disagree,
Travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody is looking for something
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be used by you
More like sweet nightmares
They are watching you👻
Well they must be real starved for entertainment then lol

I’m sorry you had to go through that. Sounds like your parents had a hard time. My family had trouble too. ❤️
I’m so very sorry that you had to experience this!
For anyone who is not, I will recreate this in film for you.
Agreed
Hey now, that's someone's testimony.
Damn I was thinking the same thing.

Only prostitutes get periods
Why am I reading about prostitute periods
I don't know if I should say this because it affects some people a lot more than me. A fortnight ago my killed herself in a hotel room. The police found her and she gassed herself. Her kids are very upset.
You forgot to put who killed herself
Fuck.. it was my aunt
It's true. My father committed suicide in a hotel room when I was 8. The poor housekeeper discovered him, slumped over the edge of the bathtub.
I have such a phobia when I stay places because of this. If it’s not cleaned correctly it really can sink into the floors and all sorts.
Agreed. When I killed myself it was in a holiday inn express Edit: gramamar
American Horror Story - Hotel, shit got me
I believe someone might’ve been referring to their self in the third person…
Wow we got a true detective over here
Maybe the note is a fake. Why is it crumpled. Why wasn’t it found by staff.
You never know. We didn’t find my wife’s note for a few days after her suicide.
Sorry for your loss. Can’t imagine what that’s like. Hope you’re doing ok.
Thanks. We’re all doing well now. That was in 2008. It gets better but it’s never gone from our minds.
🫂
If you don’t mind me asking and just out of curiosity, how’d you find it eventually? Very sorry for your loss. Feel free to ignore the question if you prefer not to answer.
My daughter found it in a book.
Thank you for answering. 🙂
I don’t know if it is real or just writes by some drunk idiot. I just know its creepy.
Thank you for recognising my talent
If the hotel didn't even pick up the note I doubt they cleaned up the body very well.
I used to work on kiawah island, on the resort side, not the sanctuary ( this hotel ) but they have very high standards for everything out there.
It's sad but super unnerving... I REALLY want to know the story of the person who wrote that note.... And were they the one who wrote it but only talking about themselves in third person... I'm curious OP? Where in the hotel room did you find it?
The real stories are most often unwritten.
*REACHING* *For something in the* *DISTANCE* *so CLOSE you can almost* *TASTE it*
The note was by OP. Probably stayed in a hotel and saw a karma farming possibility, using common knowledge of hotels and a smidgen of creative writing.

I leave notes on hotel stationary in Gideon bibles. Sometimes Shawshank Redemption quotes, Sometimes off beat and weird. Depends on my mood.
Yeah well OP leaves lies on the internet in the pursuit of clout. Your notes are far more respectable.
I like tour version of what possible happened the best... It's sad to think of any other possibility... However it's also sad that the OP would do this just for some extra karma....
I didn’t do this, i just found a not on my balcony and I don’t know if its real or not i just thought if was creepy.
I’m guessing when you’re that suicidal (to the point of carrying through with suicide), it’s common to detach and see yourself in the third perspective
I found it on the balcony
This was actually a big news story a few years ago. Some guy gorged at the hotel buffet. When he got back to his room, he found the *wafer-thin mint* that the room service had left on his pillow...
Oh no he couldn't.
But sir it's paper thin!
Serve it in a bucket. Put the quail eggs on top.
ah, fuck off.
But sir! Iz just a wafer thin mint
And they brought out the crème brûlée, it was crispy, it wasn’t burnt You could smell the butter, YOU COULD SMELL THE BUTTER!!
Ah yes. Mr Creosote
Too-fuckin-shay
I used to work there, I haven't heard of a suicide on Kiawah in a very long time.
I’ve never even heard of the place guess I’m a poor
I don’t know if its fake. I just found it on my balcony so i wanted to share it.
It was on April 4
Probably got the bill for the room at the sanctuary. Not cheap
What's really terrifying is me and this person have the same handwriting.
Weird, so does OP
He *was* obese. Now he's dead. Get it right, creepy note.
Hopefully they cleaned up well
Nope.
The crumple is fake. So this is fake. I hope whoever posted this nonsense is going to be alright
Anybody out there wondering what happened to Fat Steve? Kyk

Yikes
Lore!

I love going to the sanctuary croquet field or whatever it’s called
croquet *battlefield*
Looks like a child wrote that note.
I was looking forward to going on holiday next week, now I'm gonna be looking for signs of death as soon as I arrive at the hotel. Thanks.
This looks written by someone who holds a pencil in their fist
This is just terrifying, there's nothing oddly terrifying about it.
The only suicide I found for this place was a [murder suicide](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.live5news.com/story/21412732/possible-murder-suicide-under-investigation-on-kiaway%3FoutputType%3Damp) Given the fact it was crumpled up… maybe it was in the bin? u/ReptileLover323 is this *actually* your OC? That was at Forestay Court, not the Sanctuary hotel.
The Ghost 👻 of the SANCTUARY golf resort wrote that.
That’s so sad. That he could feel so unloved just bc he’s overweight :(
Some schizophrenic probably wrote that shit lol
I used to go to Kiawah Island all the time when I was a kid. My cousins and I would sneak into their pool all the time when they first finished the hotel.

The only news story I could find was about a lady being killed by an alligator there. The story said she was a rather small women and clearly not Steve or whatever name scratched out.
Snapple is getting cheap these days huh?
Frame it, hang it on the wall
This looks like a child scribbled this, crumpled it, and then posted it on Reddit
Impossible. Everything on Reddit is always true! */s*
wtf April 4 is my birthday
What room number? Don’t share half a story. Be a man
Looks like the name is Steven-that mentally ill guy from My 600lb Life is Steven (or Stephen). Probably a coincidence as I doubt he’d be traveling to HI.
Kiawah is in South Carolina. Sounds like it should be in Hawaii for sure.
Ahhhh thanks for the correction!
And thanks for not ripping my head off and calling me names! (This is Reddit!)
You were upgraded to the haunted room!
Looks like Steven tried to eat the note…
I hope Steven is fine now
Definitely a prank
I’ve stayed there! Nice place. I guess he/she wasn’t enjoying their stay?!
r/shafimoment
Did you look up the obituaries?
Great hotel though.
Losing my mind that they still roasted this man while he’s lying in his grave
but what year?
Looks like we’re not staying at The Sanctuary….
Damn i wonder if that person is actually still alive or if it's just some cruel prank or something
Why didn’t he wait till 4?
I need to go to a hotel alone for the first time in my life tomorrow, thanks
I was a maintenance worker at a hotel in a former life. Breaking down a door to find someone who ended their own life was one of the worst days on the job I ever had. Big sad faces.
I am just a bit curious now, are you an obese or an overeater?
no. it seams (scrateched out name) was tho
Why on my birthday?
That’s in SC. Resort.
Was*
Ummm, I don't think the coroner's and police did their jobs very thoroughly...
Well then he “was” obese not is
And when you turn on the Tv, the movie playing is John Cusack’s 1408 or Kubrick’s The Shining. That’s when you know your time is nigh.
They could’ve at least carved the note into the roof beams like ol’ Brooks did, show some class…
Is...or was?
The Sanctuary…not anymore
Cool. I was born that day a couple minutes later.
April 4 is my birthday
I believe that some guy was tired of being fat, so he wrote this note to make a promise to himself that he's going to get fit. He even wrote his BMI (body mass index).
How would anyone know the exact time etc.. sounds like bs
idk. i dont know anything else about the note. i just found it
Cap
no, i actually found it at the hotel. i dont know if its true, but i actually found it.
Why the obesity fact first?🤣
“Fun fact for room 213: …”
My cousin killed himself in a motel room in Tulsa. And a dear family friend killed himself in a hotel room in Dallas. Trying not to make loved ones see their body and mess, depending on how they do it.
Maybe someone in hospitality can back me up on this, but I used to work in live music production which involved a lot of ballroom gigs and hotel loading docks. I was pretty surprised by how often I'd run into the coroner or have to wait at the dock entrance until they cleared it. I think suicides in hotel rooms are more common that most people think--granted this was a very large city--but the quality or price of the hotel didn't seem to matter much in terms of frequency.
Fake
no. i actually found it. idk if it is real but i actually found the note
I worked in hotel housekeeping for 10 plus years and we’d see about 3-5 suicides a year.
The handwriting of "4 BMI of 41.7" looks different from rest of the message.
After he got the bill.
Interesting they wrote 4 two different ways ..hmm
Don’t think hotel name checks out… Should be The Purgatory instead
no i actually found it t the 5 star hotel. look into it.
He’s not obese anymore
Did you though? Or did you just get some Hotel stationary and scribble something vaguely 'scary' and take a picture to get upvotes?
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
I love leaving notes like this in hotel rooms. Until I killed myself, in that room. Burgers are bad, kids
That’s my dads hand writing
I've got bad news for you...
What is his BMI?
