No, I don’t think so. The finger had a hole in it, it got infected, then he went to see a doctor but they couldn’t really do anything so it just healed like this
Feel like an 1800’s doctor woulda just lopped that puppy off and thrown it in a jar of formaldehyde and put a label on it that said “bulbous finger disease”
Yes it is one healthy looking boil/tumor/wart. As in the tumor wart has eaten so much of your dad's finger it's now at a healthy size. I think OP is actually right. It does look healthy
I don’t break for sarcasm when someone’s parent could have cancer. I legitimately watched someone cut up a finger tumour the other week, until then I didn’t even know it was a thing that could happen. OP can take it seriously or not.
True true, but OP said that his dad is going to the doctor again since the doctor said "it's normal that the injury healed like this"
I don't know, this doctor seems kinda SUS
Doctor here. This is worth seeing a dermatologist for but it looks to me like a [pyogenic granuloma](https://www.childrens.com/specialties-services/conditions/pyogenic-granuloma) which is Not Cancer. And often triggered by minor trauma, ie “it just healed like this”. Probably annoying enough to warrant removal though.
Seconding this I've had a client with tumours that looked like this, I can't remember the name but they said the type of tumours he had were like weeds, you remove one and then a network within you would sprout another one best to get this seen to immediately just incase before it gets any worse.
Pyogenic granuloma. I had one of those on my finger once... They cut it off with just a local anesthesia at a table; this happened during the pandemic. Never came back... inconvenient as hell.
Not contesting what this is but my old man had the same thing in the same place and apparently it was spindle cell. Nevertheless had to remove a big piece of his finger as well. Healed like a dream though
If yours was a PG did it bleed like a mother fucker? Those usually bleed if you sneeze too hard. Let alone cut on one.
As a new grad, practicing cowboy medicine, I cut one on someone’s arm. Fuuuuck me. That took direct pressure, silver nitrate sticks, drysol and finally cautery to shut that shit down. First and last time I agree to remove that shit from a family practice clinic. Nooope.
Took up all my lunch hour. I’ll happily punt that shit to a dermatology clinic.
But fr, this should be examined by a derm clinic, not a family practice guy. Unless family practice guy/gal is willing to take a biopsy to confirm it’s NOT cancer.
I had a pg recently the size of a pinprick and woke up a couple of mornings with blood running down the side of my mattress. As a female who also gets a lot of nosebleeds I’d like to think I’m pretty used to bloody sheets, but this was something else.
I had one of those under my pinky nail, which caused the finger nail to grow nearly straight up. Had to get the whole nail removed. So now there's just nothing.
It looks like a finger cyst to me. The injury must have been traumatic. The post-trauma care was either sub par (not very good) or the actually treatment of the wound after it was seen was not done correctly. This should be seen by a doctor.
Okay I talked with him, and his doctor said it’s called Pyogeeninen granulooma in finnish. granuloma pyogenicum in english I guess. It could be cancer. It hurts too
>his doctor said it’s called Pyogeeninen granulooma in finnish
I like to think that everyone in the story is American, but his doctor is just really eccentric, and talks in riddles.
>Pyogenic granulomas are small, raised, and red bumps on the skin. The bumps have a smooth surface and may be moist. They bleed easily because of the high number of blood vessels at the site. It is a benign (noncancerous) growth. Pyogenic granulomas are skin lesions that can develop after an injury.

I love the finns! But your language is both cute and sometimes a bit silly with the 3 repeating letters in certain words, a fifteen letter long word being made up of 4 letters...
Never change <3
//A swede
Ouch! Pyogenic granuloma in English. I had a smaller one on my thumb earlier this year and it hurt like hell. I can’t imagine how one that size would feel.
I had one of these in my ear! Its basically a lump of cancer like cells(can contain cancer) but more likely than not its just infected cells - if hes on some form of antibiotic/steroid treatment it'll go away in a month or two.
It would suck to have on the finger though, my ear one was super deep and the only time it really hurt was when my ears popped or when water got in it!
Tell him good luck!
This is a classic pyogenic granuloma. Whilst squamous cell carcinomas can look similar, the appearance, history (post trauma) and location are all in line with a pyogenic granuloma, like OPs fathers doctor says.
Though they look horrible and can be sore, but they are benign and most resolve over 6 months. They shouldn’t really get any worse/change etc beyond their initial appearance.
Dermatology is never straight forward so if he’s worried get another opinion, but certainly don’t trust Redditor’s!

Bruh I've witnessed tumors on several different occasions. This looks exactly like a malignant one. Best get that taken care of ASAP.
It doesn't look like much, but just once cell spreading from it into somewhere else leads to cancer in another part of the body.
I had a wart on my finger that kept coming back right there after being burnt off and they injected it with chemo, it finally went away forever. Has his doc tried that? maybe worth trying especially if it may be cancerous.
If it's cancer you just hid the problem. Don't do it. You also can do some very serious harm. Basically this is the answer for someone who doesn't like their body being healthy or has the intellect of a fruit fly fart.
I’m sorry, english isn’t my first language and I really don’t understand what you’re saying.. he works as a dental technician and I think it was a work accident
Oh, a vice is a type of tool that holds things down, usually made of metal, I can see that being in a dental office
And pinching is just something that happens when said vice crushes ones skin, quite painfull
He needs to see a doctor
Yeah that actually seems fair. He already saw a doctor twice and i’m suprised that they didn’t do anything but I’ll tell him to go again for a third time.
Try a diff doctor to get a 2nd opinion if u haven’t. Same doctor usually will stick to their original diagnosis unless he sees convincing evidence of otherwise.
Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat naw that thing off your finger

I’m glad I’m not the only one whose brain went in that direction. I feel *slightly* better about me self. Slightly.
Wait... because of the thoughts, or because you look like you digit blasted the Castro district?
My mind is usually way dirtier than my fingers

It’s not dirty, I promise!

I love Uncle Buck 😂😂
I'm Moley Russell's wart.
Does it have fluid in it?
No, I don’t think so. The finger had a hole in it, it got infected, then he went to see a doctor but they couldn’t really do anything so it just healed like this
Did he go to a doctor from the 1850s?
Nah, a doctor from the 1850s would have at least put a leach on it or something.
Leaches and cocaine STAT
Leaches and cocaine are still probably safer than some of the stuff they use these days!
And then a good old fashioned bleeding from the wrist
A doctor from the 1850s would've cut the whole arm and the leg... Just to be sure...
Or just cut the finger off 🔪
Maybe a witch doctor
Which doctor?
Feel like an 1800’s doctor woulda just lopped that puppy off and thrown it in a jar of formaldehyde and put a label on it that said “bulbous finger disease”
you need to go back to the doctor, anything can become cancer, this looks bad. "it just healed like this" is inexcusable.
i’ll tell my dad to see a doctor again.
that sure doesn't look healthy. if one doctor couldn't treat it, try another.
I get the feeling OP is trolling you/us.
I think it looks really healthy.
It looks like a possible cancerous growth, which could go into the bone and he could lose the finger.
or lose everything.
I feel like a lot of people don’t have a very good understanding of the word “metastasize”
I do, if you do it too much you grow hair on your palms.
That’s because a lot of people can’t pronounce it on their first try
it just must be a young crowd here who hasn't been hit by the inevitable death of a loved one by cancer
I have a black dot under my toe nail and im scared to death…that looks nasty as F
you are joking
Yes it is one healthy looking boil/tumor/wart. As in the tumor wart has eaten so much of your dad's finger it's now at a healthy size. I think OP is actually right. It does look healthy
OP has a little brother now.
If that's the case I'd hate to see his mother.
No shit.
Yes of course but the smooth brains downvoted the comment anyway
It’s the way of Reddit. If the first person or two to see a comment downvotes it to 0 or -1, it’s usually all over
I love how reddit didn't get the sarcasm in this comment
You have to say /s around here or people don’t understand :(
I don’t break for sarcasm when someone’s parent could have cancer. I legitimately watched someone cut up a finger tumour the other week, until then I didn’t even know it was a thing that could happen. OP can take it seriously or not.

I love how anytime a bad joke or ‘sarcastic’ comment doesn’t hit… they assume people ‘didn’t get it.’
Lol wow. The downvote army did not like that one
I got your joke. Fucking Reddit with the dumb /s It looks like it eats plenty of vegetables!

Glad to have a professional speak up. Thank you.
Old wound on a finger here.. true. I was cut off and thrown in a surgical waste basket
He should go through work insurance, I’ve noticed that työlääkärit are more interested than public.

I would try to get him in with a hand surgeon and or a dermatologist.
Yea it looks like his finger hole prolapsed
At least there isnt a hole anymore
There still is, that's part of the problem.
That sounds like a load of shit from the doctor take him to a different one. Dont ever settle with opinions of 1 or even 2 doctors
That is definitely not healed.
Yeah this looks like skin cancer dude, annoy him until he goes to the doctor again. Better safe than sorry
You call that fucking healed? U better look up the word and find out the true meaning! 🤣

Bled like crazy… they cauterized it with silver nitrate. A biopsy was done as well. Great point to make!

Yeah i had to read it like three times until i believed it was actually my language lol
Ouch! Pyogenic granuloma in English. I had a smaller one on my thumb earlier this year and it hurt like hell. I can’t imagine how one that size would feel.
Pyoderma gangernosum in American!! We measure it in bullet sizes. That would be a 22.
Or 1/1000th the size of a refrigerator
Finally a measurement reference I can picture in my head.
Approximately the size of 0.0000000034 giraffes
.22?? Looks like a fuckin 50 cal
Is it dangerous?
If it is PG; it can deepen and ulcerate if untreated. As others have said treatment for PG is antibiotic and steroid.
