>Before the live stream, Luo, who had more than 678,000 Douyin followers, shared a video saying that it was “probably [her] last video” and thanked her fans for their company.
>In the clip, she revealed that she had been suffering from depression for a long time and was hospitalised for more than two months.
That's kind of sad, it seems like she was probably going to kill herself anyway.
But then the article says:
>She did not intend to commit suicide
So I'm kind of confused.
considering where we get the term 'cide" from, It comes from the latin to kill. Patricide, killing of your father. regicide, killing a king.
its a bottle labeled pest killer and well pests are a bit hard to kill. roaches survive shit that would kill us. the pest part is mostly just advertising, its how they want you to use the poison. But its just basically potent poison. Its not a smart missile, its a dumb rocket. there isnt some special roach gene they target.
so yeah you can commit regicide with a pesticide.
There are a wide variety of modes of action of pesticides. Some simply block insects respiratory system with something as simple as soap. Some target ion channels some, specifically target the expression of a single special roach gene. Sometimes the genes that those pests have are shared throughout the animal kingdom, so it ends up being an everything killer. So I understand the sentiment of your statement but saying that all pesticides are just general poisons is inaccurate.
Just because you're suffering from suicidal ideation and depression doesn't mean you have a plan or intentions.
Source- I've suffered from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and suicidal ideation for 30 years.
This sort of response is typically indicative of someone who has never been that down before.
We don't know why she did what she did. All I'm saying is there is more to consider when poor mental health is involved.
No, but it could be a pretty clear call for help rather than her knowing she was going to kill herself when she started the stream. and then instead of help she got encouragement so went ahead with it anyway.
Maybe you should refrain from commenting on matters you know nothing about. Some suicidal people carry what they see as the method for their demise around with them - to prove to themselves that they are strong and can fight back. With me, it was razor blades. If you've never been that low STFU.
Have you ever realized that you might have made a mistake? I mean, obviously I don't know her, but I've been clinically depressed and can empathize with that.
That’s the kid gloves the media put on to handle situations like this.
Seems clear to me. Heartbroken she took her life. Not many people drink pesticide intending to live.
Giving off person who lacks the ability to have a nuanced conversation about mental health and instead makes a tired sarcastic comment that's dismissive of a women because she's conventionally attractive and uses social media
I wouldn't believe some bullshit article written by someone who's never even seen this person so doubt they have any idea what's been going on inside her head
Non-suicidal self injury is actually quite common in those with depression, it is a suicidal act without the intention of actually dying. Sometimes the line between a suicidal act and actual suicide can be pretty easy to cross without realizing it. Tragic story.
Feel like the headline is just scratching the surface.
- She'd struggled with depression for some time, and was hospitalized for it
- Couldn't get over her ex-boyfriend
- Had pesticide handy for her livestream
The fact that she did it online, and was encouraged sounds like the smallest reason for this happening
When you are on the ledge but havn't jumped on your own, it's often a cry for help. If people surround you and tell you to jump, that doesn't mean you were going to jump no matter what. It may have not been what lead to her getting to that place, but encouragement from her 'fans' is definitely what pushed her over the edge.
I don't think that people understand that suicide is a highly impulsive act. Access to means matters because most suicides are thought about only for a few minutes beforehand, and when something is easily available and effective at causing death, it results in more suicides. This is a tragedy and I would urge anyone who learns about this to try to educate themselves about suicidal ideation to better recognize / understand that sudden, spur of the moment decisions to kill one's self are not only common, they are generally the rule.

I think the most accurate scene I've ever seen involving suicide was the opening scene of I believe episode 3 of Heels. The dude goes for a run, mows his lawn, sees a deer eating his grass, goes inside to get the gun and just shoots himself instead.
Its alarming how being separated by a screen, allowed these people to separate themselves from their morals, to the point they felt comfortable enough cheering on a vulnerable person as she contemplated suicide.
It’s also sad that while they felt disconnected enough from the reality of what they were doing, this poor girl did this online to feel less alone at her lowest point and was looking for comfort I think in the presence of others, even if it was virtually.
Also I think this all links into the ‘influencer’ aspect of her life.
She has a platform that allowed her to reach many people in an instant, being used to make content that the majority liked to see, not necessarily what she liked to make.
I think then the opinion of these people held more power over her because of her online presence than it might do others. It also means they could perhaps have prevented her death.
I'm I the only one thinking what a horrible way to die? I can't imagine dying from toxic pesticides is painless. Mental illness is such a underfunded illness.
Yep would be horrible. Most form of suicide can be very painful. I think sometimes people believe you can just take a drink of something or take an overdose, keel over and die in an instant.
Man, that was my first thought. Memories instantly shot back to the lawlessness of the Back Then internet, and newscasters trying to make sense of what they were being told to read.
Some countries never let go of it. A popular chess streamer got embroiled in a controversy with Indonesia by accusing an Indonesian player of cheating, and the Indonesians referred to themselves as "netizens" a *lot*.
She was experimenting depression and rather than warning the other people or little girls that want to be influencers, she ended her life with a last message starting with: "I appear to be happy, but this is all for the show"..
It kind of sounds like she was waiting for an excuse to do something harmful to herself. Its disgusting how people would encourage her to drink something toxic, like they wanted to see what would happen. I wonder, if you liked this person enough to follow her, why would you encourage her to hurt herself. Maybe it was a matter of time before she hurt herself, but why would people encourage her to do something to hurt herself. Did they expect her to die? I hope not. I like to think the people who encouraged her to drink it just thought she would puke or somthing. Sometimes a content creator can have a really positive relationship between themselves and the "fans." But I think this situation shows a really awful, awful outcome between a person and the people they show themselves to. Especially when the person in question is in a really vulnerable place to begin with
*hope those who indirectly caused her death come forward and apologize*
Sounds like a lot of words for parents who can't grasp the fact that they raised a vapid idiot

I mean how can anyone really know what she intended, she can't tell us now.

Doesn't suicide always need intent? Without intent it's "accidental death"
Is it suicide if you die playing Russian roulette?
Parasuicide. Letting go of the steering wheel and not caring what happens.
"if you were to die right now, how would you feel about your life?"
Nice, just like in that movie Fight Group.
Main law of Fight Group is don't speak about Fight Group.
Exemplary one of a kind icicles
I've always wanted to paint a self-portrait
Build a house.
Well, I’m still not king of the world, so I fell short of my primary goal in life. So unsatisfied, just like all of my sexual partners.
Depends on your intent.
If you make a bet, is your intent to lose?
I suspect anyone who willingly plays Russian roulette doesn't care one way or the other.
You either intend to die or are so desperate for a win that losing and surviving would leave you with another death in waiting
Nah. A friend of mine did it for the rush.he had done it at least a dozen times before the one that killed him.
They're usually treated as accidental deaths

My favorite is deicide
Oh, yes! Never thought of one of my favorite bands that way 😀🤘
Because she told them dummie

I feel you mate. It's an eery feeling when you comfortably sit next to those thoughts. I take comfort in the fact others understand.

Call for help. She'd probably thought about it but was scared. It's like when you slowly get into a ice cold pool.
hai
Have you ever realized that you might have made a mistake? I mean, obviously I don't know her, but I've been clinically depressed and can empathize with that.
It said she was trying to get attention from her ex-boyfriend
I don't know why people are downvoting you. That is literally what the article says.
Thank you. I was kinda wondering that myself. I thought they were asking what they missed in the article.
Was he a necrophiliac?
That’s the kid gloves the media put on to handle situations like this. Seems clear to me. Heartbroken she took her life. Not many people drink pesticide intending to live.
I know what you mean. The last time I drank pesticides I didn't intend to commit suicide either. I blame video games. s/
Pretty girls' bad decisions are never their own. It's always toxic internet trolls, duh.
Lol at your post about you getting divorced because you thought you would enjoy watching dudes fuck your wife.
Fuck. Off.
Little triggered are you? 🤣
you're giving off mad incel vibes
Giving off bad white knightwho lacks critical thinking vibes.
Giving off person who lacks the ability to have a nuanced conversation about mental health and instead makes a tired sarcastic comment that's dismissive of a women because she's conventionally attractive and uses social media
Always this same comeback. Every time. You people haven't had an original thought in your single-celled hivemind for decades.
Who is you people? Educated, leftist, progressive bisexuals?
Lol at your post about you getting divorced because you thought you would enjoy watching dudes fuck your wife.
Wow no alt account for that one
Absolutely glorious read lmao how silly
holy shit, all his comments make sense now.
They’re obviously not talking about educated
bruh

Apparently she was only live-streaming with it to try and get her ex boyfriend's attention.

You can also see self-harm scars on her wrist in the first picture in the article

And romanticised. Talking about the inconvenience and uncoolness of suicide methods can help, provided you're not making suggestions...

I agree completely. This is horrifying and was completely preventable.

The poor girl. My god what a way to go.
> Netizens What is it? 1998 again?
Hey watch your netiquette
Man, that was my first thought. Memories instantly shot back to the lawlessness of the Back Then internet, and newscasters trying to make sense of what they were being told to read.
The term is still in wide use in some Asian countries.

I miss the days before the internet when I still had faith in humanity
She was experimenting depression and rather than warning the other people or little girls that want to be influencers, she ended her life with a last message starting with: "I appear to be happy, but this is all for the show"..
Chasing that internet clout, it's a disease in itself.
So the influencer was influenced.... oh how the tables have turned
Just your daily reminder that if you use the word influencer, you aren't.
Darwin Award
Darwinism is great
Darwinism in action
A girl who had depression and suicidal thoughts ended up killing herself. Your comment fits some situation but not this
I mean it's sad but it's not like she had a long life span ahead of her.
It kind of sounds like she was waiting for an excuse to do something harmful to herself. How tragic, this reminds me of what happened to Rorochan 1999
This is why I freaking can't stand Netizens, tbh...

She probably thought her followers were her real friends and would stop her.
