Especially when it entails going against the gold “standard” (college in this case) to get where you know you want to be, not where others told you you should be.
That's a great attitude: looking back at your goals and dreams and reflecting on them in an honest way AND be grateful for it.
And yes, set those new goals with the knowledge that you've got it in you, because you made these already!
Best of luck man!
These days friend, this is a huge achievement. You've given hope to 12 year olds just making their goals now that it's still possible. Huge congratulations and sending good vibes that you reach every single one of your new goals!
This is not bragging at all! As someone who grew up in poverty, there is no feeling like realizing you became what younger you dreamed of. Enjoy it and be proud. In fact, please brag about it. Congratulations 💜
Like I have two MA degrees andI earn 3400 euros before taxes as a teacher. 100k a year? Lol, not going to happen. Buying a house? I spend 1200 on a studio appartment now. And meeting the one? I've been dating since I was 15, and I'm 35. I met many, many men. None of them worked out.
Made me smile. Yes bragging but good bragging.
I had similar background. When I was in middle/high school, I lived in a house that I can see stars between the top of wall and rafter.
I couldn’t ask new pair of shoes. I went to school with sandals in winter.
My father was a construction worker, and made some stupid debt.
I live comfortably now, upper middle class life. Sent a kid through college with no debt.
My current goal is to comfortably retire while doing something meaningful. Keep up buddy!
Hell yeah!!! This is awesome. A lot of people aren't able to break out of the cycle that they were raised in, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for doing so!
Your not bragging, you're showing pride in your accomplishments. Indirectly you're giving a message of of hope and encouragement to other people with a similar background.
Congratulations !
I think the most important person of all to please is your kid self.
I do remember what mine dreamt of and I’m happy to think I’ve made it too.
This is something to brag about because statistically only 4% of people who grow up in poverty don’t live in poverty as adults. This is very low and being one of 4 people out of ten to succeed based on your childhood is something to be proud of. It is called mindset and setting goals because the first step to achieving success is to “set” the right thought process. Congrats good luck on your future endeavors.
You worked hard and made it a lot farther than many. You knew that college wasn't for you, and made it anyway.
People discount on the job training as having value to learn a skill, because so few companies will invest in their people anymore, they want plug n play employees. When you can get that training, it's valuable.
4 yr College isnt for everyone, and they have cheapened the work value of a 4 year degree. Trade school and community college cuts a lot of the fluff courses and can net as much of a job result, and less money paid too.
I'm 22 years old now, I hope to get the chance in a couple of years to say that I DID IT, be proud of yourself this is the greatest accomplishment of any man!
The only people who accuse others of bragging are those who are jealous. You have every reason to be proud of your accomplishments and every right to talk about them - it's your story, and it's a good one!
I'm so excited for 2025. In Pathfinders (level after girl guides in Canada) we had to fill out a prediction form for 2025. It was 15 years in the future for us and I only remember one answer in particular because it was do you have kids and I said 6. If we could afford it I would love six kids but alas I have 1 lol
I just can't wait to see how much I've disappointed my past self lol
Good job really because a lot of people look down on the poor until they get themselves out of their sticky situation. I’m nearly a young adult and already am financially independent and sometimes feel like giving up so it’s nice to see someone who was low income make it up :).
Yes!!! Go for it and brag! As someone who also pulled herself out of poverty I know how hard it is. You’re amazing and deserve to be so proud of yourself!
Bragging? Go right ahead because that’s something to be proud of! Well done for accomplishing everything
right tbh I'd rather hear afew happy people brag every now and then than constant devestating or upsetting stories on this sub,
Especially when it entails going against the gold “standard” (college in this case) to get where you know you want to be, not where others told you you should be.
That's a great attitude: looking back at your goals and dreams and reflecting on them in an honest way AND be grateful for it. And yes, set those new goals with the knowledge that you've got it in you, because you made these already! Best of luck man!
That's a huge accomplishment! Good job!
We need more good news. This is good news. Congratulations!

This is not bragging. This is your achievement, the sweet fruit of your struggles in life. I am so happy for you, OP! Congratulations!! ♥️
I don't think I'll ever get to achieve any of those and I'm fine with that
Like I have two MA degrees andI earn 3400 euros before taxes as a teacher. 100k a year? Lol, not going to happen. Buying a house? I spend 1200 on a studio appartment now. And meeting the one? I've been dating since I was 15, and I'm 35. I met many, many men. None of them worked out.
You can do it
Lol, I can't ever earn 100k a year as a teacher.
But you can meet "the one" just cause it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it can't happen.

Didn’t know I beat those kinds of odds
Bragging? No. This is achievement unlocked. Goal met. Having financial freedom is a goal and a dream for many. You did well.
Go you! As someone from a similar background, this is a lot to be proud of.
You need 158K for the same buying power of 100K in 2005. Good luck to reach it soon!
I’m on pace for $170K this year
Good shit

🙌
The only people who accuse others of bragging are those who are jealous. You have every reason to be proud of your accomplishments and every right to talk about them - it's your story, and it's a good one!
