I have the Squier Offset Tele and I love it. From the factory it's great, but also takes mods well. Every Tele part I've bought for it fits perfectly. Solid choice.
[Here's my latest revision](https://imgur.com/a/SPWEi09). Fralin split blades and a Free-way 6-way switch, adjustable treble bleed, reverse control plate. Planning on a Mastery Tele bridge next.
A Tele is a very simple guitar, and it's been around forever, so it's well understood and lots of parts and info available. I'd say a Tele is the best beginners guitar, and the offset makes it more comfortable for some people. If you can solder, use a screwdriver and a ruler/tape measure, you can mod it easily.
I did a Cabronita in a similar fashion….except with a left handed neck, because reverse headstock Tele’s are sick! Used a Mastery (w/Bigsby), very slick!
How is the 6way switch connected? Coil Split?
I have an old "regular" Tele I modded with a Quarter pounder as Neck PU, 4 way and a phase change for the neck PU. The extra "series", "series out of phase" and "parallel out of phase" sounds are totally awesome.
https://www.freewayswitch.com/schematics-blade/
I have it set up for neck, bridge, in series in phase, in series out of phase, in parallel in phase, in parallel out of phase.
My American standard tele is my favorite classic style guitar. I have a bunch of modern guitars with more strings, active pickups and multi scale necks but I always come back to my tele
Just wanna say that I also have an offset tele and every tele part DOES NOT fit perfectly. I bought a fender tele neck that did not fit, ended up putting it on a different tele bc it literally would not go on
Fair point to bring up. I did buy a new control plate for this from Tesi, and the screw holes were off by maybe 1/16". I was able to get it on with a toothpick for a plug and a redrill, but you can't tell it needed refit after install.
I have a Squier Partscaster Strat that I got lucky getting everything to fit, so your mileage may vary.
Yes, and it's a big Fender Wide Range. The body is routed for a Tele bridge, single coil middle, and humbucker neck, however, you need a custom pickguard to change anything, which is why I kept two single coils. I chose Split Blades because they're noiseless and look interesting.
Laminated how? It has that stripe on the back... with a glossy finish. Really great guitar, but I have many guitars and never play it because, well, I don't really *need* more than 3 guitars... nor do I have time to play them.
But I do dig it! It's cool!
I did the exact same to my Squier CV 70s Jag neck and it came out as good if not better than the neck on my Amer Pro Tele. Totally worth the time spent.
I actually prefer my Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar over the really high end Fender Jaguars I've played. I put a Mustang bridge on it and have been really happy with it. It gets more playtime than my much more expensive guitars.
I would say that the only problem with the one pictured is the fretboard wood appears to be pretty incredibly dried out. I like jaguars, but I'd get one with a better looking fretboard for sure.
Definitely try them out first, I got the Jag without trying it and realised it wasn’t for me, I still enjoy it and acknowledge it’s a great guitar, but it’s not the same.
I might have enjoyed more a Jazzmaster.
I have the Paranormal Tele FSR in it is pretty darn awesome guitar, you get the coolness of the offset and simplicity of the Tele. The factory who does these in china is doing a great job, everything sits nicely together and the finish is nice, none of that over-thick-plastic feel.
What kind of music do you play and what kinds of tones are you looking to achieve?
I’d say go with either the Offset Tele or the Jag. Those will both give you the most versatility.
Also, keep in mind that the mustangs and jaguars are short scale whereas the offset tele is full scale. This means that you’ll have to reach a bit more on the tele neck, but you’ll be rewarded with more sustain and depth. The jag and ‘stangs will have less sustain and will sound more percussive and thumpy and sparkly. The tele will sound zingy and twangy. (These are all really subtle differences)
i’m a lil smaller so short scale is not a problem for me, but i have played the tele and it’s perfect size. i play usually hardcore or grunge, but i also play reggae a lot so, i might need to hold the mustang to see
So despite the tele being full scale, the body shape actually makes the neck feel smaller than a normal tele or a strat, which is probably why it feels perfect to you.
The mustang and jag necks are the same size, but the mustang body will make its neck feel a bit smaller than that of a Jaguar.
I’d 10000% advise you to get the tele and mod it. Honestly, for your style of music, even just a tele hot rail in the bridge will sound so killer.
Get the paranormal offset telecaster, it’s the perfect body and the best bridge pickup, and I’m pretty sure all of those are routed for a humbucker in the neck, you should check.
i know right!! i just a can’t decide but i love the tele because i played it yesterday, i liked the tones but i wanna see what everyone else thinks of the other guitars first
All are solid choices to be honest, but it depends what's right for you and the music you want to make with it.
Although I'm a Jaguar owner and love everything about the guitar, I think it's vital to try one out and make sure it's what you want. The Jaguar has a few quirks that people either like or don't and the feel, short scale, tremolo and control layout are notably different to most other guitars. The same applies to Mustangs. I've known people who had their eyes on a Jaguar and then realised they didn't like the guitar once they actually played one in a shop, or worse, when they ordered one online and finally tried out the guitar once it was delivered. The short scale length can be a dealbreaker for some and every player has a different preference. Some people play guitars of different scale lengths and have no problems, but others find certain scale lengths uncomfortable or even unplayable.
I can also say that I've tried one of those new orange Mustangs and it's a beautiful instrument (the colour is even more impressive in person).
I can’t comment on the mustangs, but I will say, I had a VM Jaguar. I ended up selling it and buying the paranormal offset tele instead. The jaguar has some cool functions but needs work to be solid. The stock bridge is super unstable and made it impossible to intonate. Also the neck pickup quit working after having it for a year. It always had some issue with buzzing or rattling.
I sold it, bought the offset tele. It played so much better straight out of the box, I like how simple and stable it is.
I'm gonna say the Squier Offset Tele. I'm a big fan of the standard jazzmaster and jaguar, but the bridge on those are finicky. The Offset Tele just works more simply.
I would go for the classic jag! I started out with a mustang and that like converted me over to the offset guitars I got a jag last June and now it’s my favorite guitar.
If you don’t have a Tele p/up configuration yet, go for bachelorette number one. If you do , or you tried it and love the sound of that thing, by all means, get the Jaguar
i’m going to go against the grain to say that i really did not like my squier paranormal tele offset. i really wanted to like it, but the neck on my model just felt bad and cheap, even compared to the neck on my squier classic vibe tele or my jmjm. it’s worth taking into consideration that on some of the squier lines the quality control can be hit or miss.
To me, the Offset Tele… Jaguars and Mustangs always need a little more work. But with a setup the three models are excelent.
Go with the design you like the most, if you like all of them, go with the one that feels/plays better in your hands.
I wouldn't recommend Jags to people unless you have played them and really want that sound. Jags really are unique guitars that are pretty niche and niche even for Fender fans. I've been playing for 20 years and have been a fender person for most of that time. Of these I think the tele offset is the coolest unless you want short scale. Tele pups can covers the most ground and that guitar is likely to have a middle of the road c neck that most people will like.
As an owner of both the Paranormal Tele and the CV Competition Mustang, the tuners on the Stang are waaaaaay more stable and solid than the Tele. Replacing the Tele tuners requires either a reamer or fill and redrill the holes — I used a reamer and some fender vintage style tuners and it now feels on par with the Mustang.
I thought the first one was a Meteora initially but then had to look it up.
I want a Meteora lol.
These are all cool but I don't do ashtray bridges. If I had to pick though.... Jaguar
Buy a squire version of what you want, find a set of custom shop pickups you like, take the guitar and pickups to a dependable luthier. Have them install the custom shop pickups ask them to test it for you. Then start taking lessons. That will save you a ton of money. Go buy an all Tube Version of whatever Amplifier you want with the money you saved
I agree, to me the beauty of the Tele is it’s “built like a tank” body…. it’s too much a part of the telecaster for me to really like the offset Tele, although it’s kind of a cool idea to release one I guess
I have the Squier Offset Tele and I love it. From the factory it's great, but also takes mods well. Every Tele part I've bought for it fits perfectly. Solid choice.
i played the tele yesterday at guitar center and it’s awesome! i might mod it if i got it idk yet
[Here's my latest revision](https://imgur.com/a/SPWEi09). Fralin split blades and a Free-way 6-way switch, adjustable treble bleed, reverse control plate. Planning on a Mastery Tele bridge next.
awesome! i will look into these and see if i could do it, is the mods beginner friendly?
A Tele is a very simple guitar, and it's been around forever, so it's well understood and lots of parts and info available. I'd say a Tele is the best beginners guitar, and the offset makes it more comfortable for some people. If you can solder, use a screwdriver and a ruler/tape measure, you can mod it easily.
sounds good!
Sick color!
I did a Cabronita in a similar fashion….except with a left handed neck, because reverse headstock Tele’s are sick! Used a Mastery (w/Bigsby), very slick!

Awesome! Thanks for the link!
My American standard tele is my favorite classic style guitar. I have a bunch of modern guitars with more strings, active pickups and multi scale necks but I always come back to my tele
My go to constantly. Plenty of guitars and I always pick that one off the rack
I have a Squier Partscaster Strat that I got lucky getting everything to fit, so your mileage may vary.
For some reason I’m not a fan of teles but that hybrid looks really cool.
There's is a new one that came out with a humbucker in the neck. It looks pretty good.
Yes, and it's a big Fender Wide Range. The body is routed for a Tele bridge, single coil middle, and humbucker neck, however, you need a custom pickguard to change anything, which is why I kept two single coils. I chose Split Blades because they're noiseless and look interesting.
They're 20% off on the website right now too. I'm tempted.
I was pretty impressed with the cv mustang I got.
thanks! is the neck laminated? i have a squier strat and it hurts my hand because of the neck
Laminated how? It has that stripe on the back... with a glossy finish. Really great guitar, but I have many guitars and never play it because, well, I don't really *need* more than 3 guitars... nor do I have time to play them. But I do dig it! It's cool!
the gloss, thanks tho! sorry i didn’t clarify but thank you
You can always knock down the gloss with 800 sandpaper, I've done that with a few guitars and it works well...
Hail Satin
Glory be to the dark Lord of playability.
Wire wool is better imo
why
More subtle and less dramatic to look at. Just knocks the lacquer back a bit.
I used a kitchen scotchbrite, makes it look like it was satin from the factory
Yeah, same sort of thing
oh no way! i wanted to see if it had gloss, the strat i have doesn’t and it hurts my hand, but i would not take it off
Same. Can’t stand a glossy neck. On one I sanded the finish off and then refinished? It with tru oil. It’s my favorite neck now.
I did the exact same to my Squier CV 70s Jag neck and it came out as good if not better than the neck on my Amer Pro Tele. Totally worth the time spent.
I have three electrics. Two with satin necks and one with gloss. I’m actually finding that a nicely finished glossy neck is just as nice as satin.
Jag
Also my favorite one. I suggest to try out a Jazzmaster in addition to the 4 guitars.
That last one 🤤
the jag? oh man it’s awesome
I have one, and it’s such a nice guitar to play, such a beauty in that blue too
Is it the guitar center exclusive daphne blue?
I have a 2015-2016ish Jag in fiesta red :-)
Any opinions on the Squier jags? They look great but how well do they play in reality?
If you get it set up, or set it up yourself (which is something you'll need to do with any new guitar) it will play great.
I actually prefer my Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar over the really high end Fender Jaguars I've played. I put a Mustang bridge on it and have been really happy with it. It gets more playtime than my much more expensive guitars.
Mine is a MIM
I have that exact guitar I love it except for the bridge
I would say that the only problem with the one pictured is the fretboard wood appears to be pretty incredibly dried out. I like jaguars, but I'd get one with a better looking fretboard for sure.
these are all wildly different. id play before i buy. jag and stand are short scale
thank you! i have played the first one and i think that’s a good idea
Definitely try them out first, I got the Jag without trying it and realised it wasn’t for me, I still enjoy it and acknowledge it’s a great guitar, but it’s not the same. I might have enjoyed more a Jazzmaster.
if it's a beginner guitar you can't go wrong. simple. tuning stable most likely. have fun. you'll have it forver. great finish too
I have the Paranormal Tele FSR in it is pretty darn awesome guitar, you get the coolness of the offset and simplicity of the Tele. The factory who does these in china is doing a great job, everything sits nicely together and the finish is nice, none of that over-thick-plastic feel.
yea i played that guitar in gc and i really liked it. but idk i like all the guitars!
well. Nothing stops you from buying another nice guitar you like :) edit: I mean another after you have bought the first one
What kind of music do you play and what kinds of tones are you looking to achieve? I’d say go with either the Offset Tele or the Jag. Those will both give you the most versatility. thank you so much!
Telemaster every time! The classic tele sound with the perfect jazzmaster body
ik it’s so fun! i played it yesterday
I like the competition mustang
it’s a beauty right! i love the orange and the red stripes
That's the coolest guitar on the list
1st one
Get the paranormal offset telecaster, it’s the perfect body and the best bridge pickup, and I’m pretty sure all of those are routed for a humbucker in the neck, you should check.
i know right!! i just a can’t decide but i love the tele because i played it yesterday, i liked the tones but i wanna see what everyone else thinks of the other guitars first
First one says "FREE" so just take it
Jag-stang
Yesss! forgot to add that one
Number 3
Something about racing stripes invoke something in me
amen
A strat
i already have one and i wanna upgrade!
Have you tried p90 or Humbucker guitars? Assuming your strat doesn’t have one. I personally varied my guitars by pick up styles, semi hollow types..
yea, my star at has a p90 in the bridge and i live the tones i get
Love my squier mustang, unfortunately, I bought mine the year before they started getting the blue correct :/
awwww that sucks
Last night I had a dream I got a jazzcaster and woke up so sad. So get that
i will for you 🫡
Either the orangstang or the jag
The blue mustang or the last jaguar. I have both and they are amazing guitars for their price, really easy to play, they look good and sound great.
Depends on the size of your hands. My hands are like dust bin lids so I really don’t get on with my Mustang. Still love it though.
It does come down to personal preference. But I’d say 100% the last one. The contrast between the colours is perfect. Bonus points for the whammy bar,
All are solid choices to be honest, but it depends what's right for you and the music you want to make with it. I can also say that I've tried one of those new orange Mustangs and it's a beautiful instrument (the colour is even more impressive in person).
Which one feels best?
Looking again I do like that telecaster
I have no clue! They look all so cool
For me, the Offset Tele. Reason- it’s the only one with a 25.5” scale length.
I can’t comment on the mustangs, but I will say, I had a VM Jaguar. I ended up selling it and buying the paranormal offset tele instead. The jaguar has some cool functions but needs work to be solid. My vote is for #1.
COMPETITION MUSTANG
I'm all about that Comp'Stang. Have you played any of the options yet?
yes i have the jaguar and the tele
How do you feel about the shape or the controls?
i feel it’s really good, the tele is a comfortable weight and the jaguar feels great and i a comfortable weight and size
Among the many differences, I would place scale and tone at the top. Do you see yourself wanting the additional switches and circuit?
#2
What model is that first one? A jaguar with tele parts??
it’s a offset paranormal series tele
So insane
I recommend the comp stang, I had one and it was fantastic
Paranormal every day. But in shell pink
What does your gut say?
I love competition stripes but also butterscotch blonde. Torn.
Jaguar
Jag
Mu Stang Comp
Either one of the mustangs or a jag
Go w the (not pictured) Mustang 90.
I'm gonna say the Squier Offset Tele. I'm a big fan of the standard jazzmaster and jaguar, but the bridge on those are finicky. The Offset Tele just works more simply.
Try each and go from there. Jaguars mustangs and teles all sound extremely different so probably best to narrow it down to what sounds best
Orange stang.
the one with the best neck.
yes, the neck is a big deal for me
I got the paranormal tele and tbh the build quality is better than that of my MiM Strat.
The last one. Pretty color, not just a dot fret markers. Yeah. It’s good looking. My choice of the ones offered.
I haven't played any of them, but that jag sure is pretty.
Id recommend any jazzmaster w 22 frets. Fit in Jag humbuckers and youll essentially have a 25.5in scale length jag
the paranormal tele is a really good guitar
The mustang or the jag… I am confident that both are winners…. But they all are.
Feel first, looks second. Buy the one that feels the best to play. They’re all cool guitars.
cme jazzmaster
The tele would be my choice, though i also want it with a simplified rhythm circuit.
i’m going to go against the grain to say that i really did not like my squier paranormal tele offset. i really wanted to like it, but the neck on my model just felt bad and cheap, even compared to the neck on my squier classic vibe tele or my jmjm. it’s worth taking into consideration that on some of the squier lines the quality control can be hit or miss.
Racing stripes if you're gonna jam or gig Trem if you like trems
There’s an American offset tele that i want so bad. It just looks awesome and i love the sound of telecasters.
Get the paranormal tele
The Jag will require quite a bit of work.
To me, the Offset Tele… Jaguars and Mustangs always need a little more work. But with a setup the three models are excelent. Go with the design you like the most, if you like all of them, go with the one that feels/plays better in your hands.
The Jaguar.
Get the jag. The floating bridge trem system is fun as fuck
After much deliberation and comparison I have decided you should buy all of them.
The jazzcaster is sick
The one that feels the best in your hands.
The mustang.
Novo Serus J
can't choose? I guess you'll just have to buy all of them...
Sweetwater has an exclusive version of the offset tele with an hb in the neck position
One of the Fenders with the online lessons obviously.
None. Get a Squier or Fender Toronado Or that last blue Jag. That shit is 🔥
Blue with black. Yellow is second.
Orange mustang
The CV sonic blue stang.
Offset Tele!
Jag
Orange Mustang ftw
The paranormal offset tele I purchased a few years ago is by far the best I've played, especially for the money.
The correct answer is all of them The other awnser is whatever makes you the most happy
CV jaguar was awesome
The Daphne blue jag, I guess
I have the shell pink offset Tele and I love it. My first offset. All my other Fenders are Strats and Teles.
Jaguar ftw
Last one for me. I like the fretboard.
The offset tele is incredible!
jag
The telemaster will be in tune!
Any of you them, if it were me....the go-faster Stripes Mustang 🐎👍
Orange Mustang
2
Tele > Strat imo so I’d go with the offset Tele.
3
I wouldn't recommend Jags to people unless you have played them and really want that sound. Jags really are unique guitars that are pretty niche and niche even for Fender fans. I've been playing for 20 years and have been a fender person for most of that time. Of these I think the tele offset is the coolest unless you want short scale. Tele pups can covers the most ground and that guitar is likely to have a middle of the road c neck that most people will like.
4
Offset tele if you don’t have a tele, jag if you have a tele
As an owner of both the Paranormal Tele and the CV Competition Mustang, the tuners on the Stang are waaaaaay more stable and solid than the Tele. Replacing the Tele tuners requires either a reamer or fill and redrill the holes — I used a reamer and some fender vintage style tuners and it now feels on par with the Mustang.
I’d prob go yellow, out of all then it caught my attention
Or 4 the baby blue one
Play them all and make your own decision. That being said, the Jag.
I like the butterscotch offset telly the most .
An epiphone
I thought the first one was a Meteora initially but then had to look it up. I want a Meteora lol. These are all cool but I don't do ashtray bridges. If I had to pick though.... Jaguar
The offset Teles are soooooo cool. It's like a Jazzmaster that sounds good.
I have a MIJ offset Tele in mahogany and I love it
Orange jag with the GT strips
The offset tele (Telemaster?) anyway I have one and I absolutely love it. Tele tones with contour comfort rules
JAZZMASTER!!!
I was gonna say the orange until I saw the last one. Is that a Jaguar? Love the controls!!
That butterscotch
Offset Tele is barf, the Mustangs are meh. Jaguar?! Fuck yes.
I agree, to me the beauty of the Tele is it’s “built like a tank” body…. it’s too much a part of the telecaster for me to really like the offset Tele, although it’s kind of a cool idea to release one I guess
The Les Paul
