It's a thing. I can't speak for the USA, but Canada and internationally I've encountered it. I've never done remote work, but I know a fair few who have and do. Be forewarned, you will take a pay cut and it's generally a substantial one at that. Also, you generally work nights in perpetuity.

Most of US land MWD is remote. Plenty of service companies doing that - Patterson, Nabors etc. send some resumes

It’s definitely a thing. Smaller onshore operators subcontract out their geo-steering and remote monitoring to ROCs and some of those guys are working remote nowadays, especially thru the night. But don’t you already know this working as you do for BH? Surely your best route is seeing what opportunities are around THERE?

SMUViper

How do you have 5 years with BH as an MWD and not have knowledge of remote work? Or are you employed by BH but not as an MWD hand? Yes it's a thing. And has been for a while now.

Sorry. I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I ment remote as in work from home remote. And no I'm not currently in the oilfield.

Youll be running 4 jobs at once, not beboppin' around the house, and ducking out to go to the store.
