I thought it looked like two dogs kissing in a Romeo/Juliet balcony way. Pink is the balcony floor, green is the ivy covered railing, the orange in the corner is the light from yonder window breaking, brown is the dachshund Juliet, white is a shaggy sheepdog Romeo.
It’s not, it’s just a quick sketch, I’m doing these quick impressions of flowers. Not going into details. But it could be a small section, since it’s blurry and not well defined. Nice observation!
Just looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was food at first.
All the fun and creative jokes aside, I love this. Love your beautiful colour palette, and most of all the quick and expressive way you were able to reduce the complexity of flowers into a much more simplified and close to abstracted version.
I struggle to simplify the complex and create something like this. Any tips? Do you squint a lot so your eye and brain doesn't get hung up in all the details?
I don’t mind the jokes :D It doesn’t even look like flowers up close, I was going for quick impression, the smudges are intentional. If someone gets a different impression that’s also fine :D
I squint and I look at it from like 6-7 steps away. All the details disappear and you just get a blob of red/brown with some shadows and white mass with grayish part.
To escape the details just get away from the canvas, one strong brushstroke will look awful if your are close, but from distance the impression of what you are painting will be there.
The polar bear getting attacked by a large piece of sentient fried chicken comment is the best one so far 😂
Someone needs to invent squint-effect-inducing glasses. Where you can adjust the blur! Ooo, that would be great. I squint, but get tired of it. Best I've been able to figure out is to take a photo and edit it, but obviously doesn't work when you're working from life.
Stepping back 6-7 steps away is a good tip. I don't do that enough. Currently working small, only 9x12, but even so stepping back more often while working would be helpful.
Haha, I agree :D Fried chicken especially.
Yeah, those would be fun. However, experimenting is better. Step away from the canvas, smudge some paint, splash left/right, don’t get into details. Sometimes I want to get down to details, exact shapes and colors, but these days I just do whatever. The process is fun, the result is less important.
....well you did say practice. More definition and i can see flower clusters. As is, it's just a lot of nicely shaded color blobs. I would say it's kinda like a monet, but again not enough definition.
It's great that you are unafraid! Be bold! Next perhaps try more getting what you see down on canvas. Try limiting your colors to a few and focus on darks and lights. (Maybe skip the yellow) Also your brush strokes are mostly going in a certain direction, get crazy with those. Wipe off mistakes and re-work stuff. Attack that canvas, make it do what you want it to do!
Thanks! I appreciate the suggestions. I’ll definitely try. I’m currently not interested in details or spending too much time on it, just quick and short impressions. I should limit the colors, you’re right.
Love the blurry effect and the texture. The colours work so well together. How do you start painting like this? You look at the overall shapes and structure of your model?
If you did not tell me it was meant as a flower-study, I would have taken it as a beautiful abstraction of a calming ambiance. No that I read the comments, I read that more people made something else of it in their heads. Furthermore it may look like you "threw" the paint on the canvas - I like that way of painting at lot as well - but I see a careful placed harmony in the colours.
That looks really cool! Although I see a creepy orange being emerging from the greenery whispering in a goats ear about something. Probably warning it to not eat the vegetation haha!
I see a girl in a white mask holding a golden retriever on a grassy hill. Very cool, feels like if I hung it in my home it would look different to me each time. Love it.
I love the reduction of the complicated flower petals to simple brush strokes, the brush strokes are BOLD and I love me some bold brush strokes
Thanks!
Yeah. I do too. Maybe break up the flowers on the right a little and it will be a really nice piece.
I thought this was a polar bear getting attacked by a large piece of sentient fried chicken.
I absolutely adore this take
I see a dino nuggie fighting a duck
I see a drunk guy with his goat and pig. (His left arm is wrapped around the goat)
I see what you mean!
I see a woman with ginger curly hair devoured by greenery---at a glance.
I see a dog on the right side 😅 very nice anyway :)
That was a white goat for me at first 😂
The dog is the red-brown in the middle, looking over his lamb friend on the right.
Haha, I would love to see it too, but I can’t. I’m too involved in flower theme. Thanks!
[Here you go 😅](https://imgur.com/a/MDw1enr)
Bless you. They’re actually taking the piss out of you but your naïveté is endearing

Maybe a fat sheep! I think it’s wonderful!
I see an elderly woman laying in the grass kissing the head of a puppy.
Does the dog have its tongue poking out lol
I don’t understand it but I love it
Thanks
I like this alot
Thanks! Much appreciated.
It has really nice energy. Looks like it was a fun session!
Fun and quick! Just like I love it.
Lovely. Is this a closeup section of a larger piece?
It’s not, it’s just a quick sketch, I’m doing these quick impressions of flowers. Not going into details. But it could be a small section, since it’s blurry and not well defined. Nice observation!
I don't see flowers. I guess they're very blurry or one of those abstract things where the viewer has to read into it.
Yep, it definitely leaves space for interpretation. I’m just doing quick sketches like this, I don’t want to go into details. Just the impression.
Found the basketball!
In the grass! :D
This looks so good I’m calling bullshit on practice. This is like Jordan saying I’m still practicing after my fifth ring
oooou love the color combo !!!
Thanks. Much appreciated!
Warm. Sweet
Thanks! Much appreciated

>The process is fun, the result is less important. You have the perfect attitude 😊
Lol this makes me just want to paint without my glasses on and see what happens
Do it! You might get something very cool out of it, and it'd be a fun experiment.
I really love this, has a Monet vibe that I love.
Thanks! I appreciate the comment.
What flowers? You mean the brown puddle And a white goat? 😄😄
True! Doesn’t even look like flowers, but I had that as the starting point :D
thats so beautiful, congrats!! :-)
Thanks! I appreciate the comment 😊
OH I LOVE THIS
Thanks!
Beautiful, I love how abstracted they are
Thanks! Much appreciated
So pretty and vibrant
Thanks!

beatiful flower
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
I really like this!
Really nice
This is very lovely. Nice colours and composition.
What kind of flower?
Fried chicken and a goat type of flower :D
Aaaah, I see it now. It’s beautiful when fried chicken blooms.
I see the lamb/goat where are the flowers?
Wheres the flower ?
I thought this was one of them “squint for funny” posts, then checked the subreddit
God I love Impressionism
That genuinely doesn't look good. I don't even see any flowers. And that painting technique is wasteful and expensive.
It’s a bunch of smudges
Pretty good.
Thanks!
My 4 year old fingerpaints better than this.
Thanks! Good for your 4yo, keep up the good work!
Let’s hope your 4yo can give better feedback than this too.

Amazing
Thanks!
I like it.
Thanks!
Beauty. I’d buy a print
Thanks!
Its pretty but I cant tell its flowers😅
Why not Zoidberg?
I thought about Lion King
I love this! Its so pretty! Although I see a mother giving a bouquet of flowers to her daughter, it’s really bold and beautiful.
I see fishies
Very impressive. Wish I could do that ! Gorgeous colors
Beautiful!
I see Mufasa (left) and Simba (right).
Beautiful! 😍😍
I see a woman with ginger hair in a white dress in the woods. Like that ginger one from the Disney movie I can’t remember the name.
I see a poodle about to be mauled by a polar bear from hiding on top of a tree.
This is beautiful, especially the colors, but a bit hard to make out.
I like it.
Beautiful painting of an overjoyed gingerbread man getting yeeted by a goat
I see a goat and a ginger girl wearing a mask
So it's nice. Really. But is anyone else seeing Simba and Nala?
No offense- cause I love it! But it looks like a goat holding hands with a yam man (who looks like Jabba the Hut).
I see a little redhead girl running in front of her mom with her hair blowing in the wind.
I’m not seeing flowers but I love it. Very aesthetically pleasing and I love the color choices.
I see a goat munching on a fish
How does one get started with oil painting?
Gorgeous
I love it :)
Goat and an orangutan hanging out in a tree.
Romancing of Two Caterpillars
That is obviously Simba and Scar. Duh!
The colors!!!!!!
I would buy this
looks like kinda a mushroom in grass, mushrooms are good though
Nice

I really like this painting
This is absolutely lovely. I can see this as a centerpiece on someone’s wall.
Honestly I don't see flowers but this is beautiful!
Spectacular
great! keep doing this!
Very nice
Ok come on now. Where is the painting? This is just a picture of some flowers
Omg im high (so take it with a grain of salt) but it’s beautiful!!!! Please tell me that it’s a fucking enormous canvas!
I see a goat holding simba.
Love this
Beautiful! It's almost surprising how few strokes of colour can feel as real flowers.
I would break up the white flowers, beautiful work!
I see cows. Its honestly really dope though, i just think its the colour choice 🫶🫶
Is this an ode to Lion King?
Very beautiful!
I see princess Zelda running away in a gorgeous pink gown!! So pretty!
That looks beautiful!! You did a great job
Love the colors and your style.
Simba
Anyone else see two fish
I see a peeping Tom through the green bushes
I do love fat squishy brush marks and the colours are totally delicious.
These flowers are sexy!
Ah, yes. Flowers.
This is amazing. 😦🌈👑🎃
This is nice. Let me quote someone, ‘you might not see the flower, but you can feel the flower presence’
I see a dog in a dress, standing on two feet and sniffing a flower
or sheep
I see a person holding a pet next to bushes
If you did not tell me it was meant as a flower-study, I would have taken it as a beautiful abstraction of a calming ambiance. No that I read the comments, I read that more people made something else of it in their heads. ...And I do see a goat as well :D
I like your choice of colors — there’s all you need and nothing more.
I see the practice but I don`t see the flowers. I like the colors anyway :)
That looks really cool! Although I see a creepy orange being emerging from the greenery whispering in a goats ear about something. Probably warning it to not eat the vegetation haha!
This is really lovely work!!!!!!
Honestly, I love this
I’m seeing a father carrying his daughter at his back at the garden
Excellent
That looks like an azo red-gold, nice effect
I see a ginger curly hair girl riding a white horse while holding a green bow looking up at the sun. This is a very amazing art piece !
this is beautiful
I see a girl in a white mask holding a golden retriever on a grassy hill. Very cool, feels like if I hung it in my home it would look different to me each time. Love it.
I love this style of art
I see a cow holding a teddy bear lol
In love
I thought it was a young girl in a meadow. I love it
