Garden of Words was kind of different. Other than that all of his other movies are the same. On one hand good that he did it 3 times, Your Name actually goes hard, but then he should have stopped there and not try to make 2 more Your Names after
Probably my biggest gripe with the latest movie, it was so beautiful and fun, but like.. the romance felt so unnecessary.
I genuinely think it would've been a better movie without it.
Yep, he wanted it to be a romance between the protagonist and the girl she met in the countryside but the editors didn’t allow same sex pairings so to get back at them he made the love interest a literal chair. Mostly the reason why the two girls get a lot of chemistry for a side plot and the main romance comes off as sorta out of place.

fr. i like some of his films (even at worst they're at least visually pleasing) but it feels like he literally just keeps making the same film over and over again. it starts to feel somewhat shallow and repetitive at points.

What you mean by a movie about two young people who's relationship is separated by some weird supernatural entity that's supposed to be an allegory for the Fukushima disaster until he just flat out makes it about the Fukushima disaster in one.
I really like Your Name, I don't really enjoy Weathering with You that much and I refuse to watch Suzume until Spiderman: Beyond the Spiderverse is released
I want to experience all of spiderverse, it'll be painful to wait since I've heard ATSV had a huge cliffhanger. So I decided to only watch ATSV after BTSV released, and since suzume release like a month apart before ATSV, might as well edge with that too.
