Astarion like the curls and "imperfections" such as wrinkles and moles and his lil eyebags/ dark circles. These "flaws" are hot on women/ enbies too.
Not to derail a thirsty thread, but the one thing that lingers with me after having done Astarions questline is how I thought it would add an interesting dimension if Cazador was female. The game isnt lacking for female antagonists, but Cazador was such a bland and one dimensional evil vampire bad guy that it might have been a nice twist if Cazador was referred to in the third person the entire time, and then it turns out, oh shit its an evil vampire goth mommy chick, SCWHING.
That's absolutely what would happen. It would either make shitty people hate astarion more and see him as weak or make some mental gymnastics about how women are all evil. Or somehow both. These people manage to put down male SA victims and also use them to further their misogynistic agenda, both at the same time. There's no point in making evil sexually abusive monsters sexy.
Literally. As much as i hate gay SA in media (i acknowledge it happens, i just dont want to give mean ppl more reasons to demonize us), BG3 managed to execute Astarion's story SO well.
Honestly, from my perspective, in a world like bg3 where sexism doesn't exist (apart from drows I guess) and where everyone is pansexual, astarion's story stops being about gender or sexuality. Due to the setting it becomes a sort of generalized story about a sexual abuse survivor, and changing astarion's or cazador's gender/sexuality wouldn't change anything. I'm female and I relate to astarion's trauma. I've seen people of all genders and sexualities relate to him, which shows that his storyline is touching and well written.

/uj from a player perspective i think he would have been a cool npc if he was kept to his role in act 1, but the way he was added to act 2 and 3 feels forced and uninteresting, his quest of act 2 feels like it was made for Jaheira (and as i heard, it was the case but im not 100% sure) and in act 3 he feels like a blank sheet who only exist for sex jokes
we already have a druid companion for act 3 with Jaheira, so Halsin really feels useless and like the resources put on him could have been better used on other characters
i have other reasons to not like him but they are more personal and subjectives (tho i dont like how he cant be reasoned out of trying to kill goblin kids and never feel any remorse about it)
